CS1, CS2, CS3 Animated Gif Creation Error.

Example: http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/5665/walksz2.gif
Whenever I made an animated gif with a transparent background, the above happens. It doesn't hide the previous frame when drawing the next one. However, when I give it a non-transparent background, it is still fine - http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8080/walklk4.gif
How can I fix this? This happens in Photoshop CS1, CS2, and CS3.
Thanks,
Dave.

  • ImageReady animated gif creation

    Using ImageReady 7.0
I created an animated gif by putting a bunch of files named so they retained that order (1-29) into a folder and then did Import Folders as Frames. I then add times in the animation window for each frame and then save it optimized. I've always done it this way because it works and is fairly simple but I can't edit the file later and that's what I need help with.
The deals is, whenever I try to add an image or move layers all the frames end up being that layer in the animation window. All I want to do is add some new images to the end or maybe somewhere else in one of the animated gifs instead of going through the steps like before.
Can someone tell me how to do it or what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

Its been a long time since I have used ImageReady, and then it was for about year when CS3 came out. So my memory if very rusty with that program. (In other words I am hoping that I am not too far off base, lol.)
Check and make sure there are the same number of layers as there are frames. I believe there is an option in the animation palette for sending the frames to layers. Once you know that the frames and layers match (plus any additional layers you create), you can clear out the animation and reapply the layers to frames.
You should find a small icon in the upper right hand corner of the animation palette and the layers palette. Clicking them will bring up a menu that will do what you need.

  • Animated gif creation...

Hi - I realize this is not the right forum, but I couldn't find one for Fireworks - and it is related to web development... so...
I have used Image Ready for years now, and love the simplicity of it! Creating an animated gif is a very painless process - you have a window that can easily add frames of the animation to, set the timing, establish tween frames, etc.
Photoshop CS4 eliminated the associated "Image Ready" software - replacing it with Fireworks...
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to accomplish an animated .gif in Fireworks - the help areas offer an overview of what an animation is, but no real help (to me anyway) as to what the process is.
Can anyone please steer me in a direction that will justify Adobe eliminating Image Ready for what appears to be a "much-more-complicated-than-it-needs to-be" replacement?
If anyone has any tutorial links or other technotes they can share, it would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Jesse

  • CS3 Animated GIFs display incorrectly in browsers.

I am having trouble getting animated GIFs to display correctly in web browsers. When I view the file in a browser, any browser, it displays extremely fast. I have tried exported the file as an animated gif from a slice, exporting as an animated gif, and saving the file (Save As) as an animated gif.
No matter what I have the frame rate set to in Fireworks it displays the same in browsers.
Anyone have any ideas on how to overcome this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • [CS1][CS2][CS3][CS4][VB][VBS] flipped GraphicLines - bug ...

    hi
could you please run this script:
    set myindi=createobject("InDesign.Application")
    set mydoc=myindi.activedocument
    for a=1 to 10
        set myLine = mydoc.pages.item(1).graphiclines.add
        myline.geometricbounds = array(0,50,200,a*10)
    next
(I think converting it to JS shouldn't be a problem)
script "should" draw 10 lines from (50,0) to (a*10,200) - ten lines starting in the SAME point and going down - something like this  /|\
could anybody please tell me WHY result is totally insane ?

JS draws me a nice picture. In what way is your result bizarre?
By the way, how case-sensitive is VB? You create the line as myLine, then address it as myline -- could that be the problem?
maybe "nice" - but not what I want ... now I need to find workaround - I need to LOSE extra time ... WHY ?

  • Set an animated gif image as wallpaper?

When I looked at this picture, I wanted to make it my wallpaper.
I call this kind of thing "ants' fights" because I don't know the word for it. (please tell me)
'$ feh --bg-center xx.gif' does not set it as animated. Actually feh doesn't show you the animation even when you use it to view the image.
It must be a simple question I believe. Anyone knows how?

  • Is it possible to create an animated GIF with transparency in AME?

I have Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 with Windows 7.  Is it possible to save a video (I saved it as uncompressed AVI from After Effects) as an animated GIF with transparency in it (eg. black=transparent)?
I also have VirtualDub 1.9.11 but don't see a transparency option in that.
It's for the web where I'd like the normal web background to show in the black (ie. should be transparent) parts of the GIF.

Thanks.  But if I wanted to keep using it it costs about £600 to buy.  Would Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 be able to do this too (also, seeing as there is an animated gif creation option in AME and used to be in AE, couldn't they just add a checkbox etc. for AME/and AE for doing transparent gifs in those if they don't support it?  Since transparency is a standard feature of .GIF is seems strange to allow GIF creation but not allow transparency)?

  • Can't open animated GIF, even with secret trick (psd cs3)

    Hi
I know a lot of people have had trouble with opening animated .gifs in photoshop cs3. I had that problem until I learned the little "trick" you could do (type *.* in "import video frames to layers") and then simply open the gif. This has worked one my computer for some time, but then all of a sudden it stopped working. I thought it was odd and then I formatted my computer and installed a few windows updates and then installed adobe photoshop cs3 and then quicktime. But it still won't open GIF as it used to do. And it's very odd, as my laptop can do it (and it has just been newly reformatted too). I know Adobe's own solution, which is to use fireworks, but I find it to be a crappy program, so I'm not going to use that. I want to be able to import GIFs into photoshop as I used to :/
Hope someone has encountered this problem too. I know a lot of people had been able to use the trick, but I havn't been able to find anyone who has the crash problem.
    Know of this?

sounds like you might have a conflict with QuickTime, seeing as the error is in MODNAME quicktime.qts
first, try resetting the PS prefs. hold CTRL+ALT+SHIFT on launch and then click Yes when prompted. if you have any preferences that you would prefer not to reset, close PS, move the preference files, then launch PS to create new ones. if it's not the problem, you can put them back later. Use the info in kb401600 if you don't know where the preference files are.
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401600
if resetting the prefs doesn't fix it, make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime installed (7.4.5) and that it can launch without problems. if you have problems using QT, let us know or post on Apple discussions to find a solution.
if you do have the latest version and the problem recently started, it may be that Apple broke something that PS uses in a recent update. uninstall the version you have, delete /program files/quicktime/ folder if it still exists, reboot, download an older version (apple has archived installers; search for "download quicktime 7.3.1 windows" OR "download quicktime 7.1.6 windows" on google to find it), then install it and reboot before trying PS.

  • Animated GIF - Animation slows after save CS3

    Hello,
When Saving an animated GIF in Photoshop CS3 the animated frames slow when viewed after the save. Therefore any gradient fades etc seem to stutter, about 25% slower than the frame rate set initially.
When the animation is played in photoshop it plays at the right speed, only slows when viewing the file after saving...
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks
    Andy

I just experienced the same problem in Photoshop. 22 frames with "no delay" selected in all of them. When opening the animation in IE6 and Firefox it runs slower than the original.
Therefore, would you be kind to post it if you found a solution?
    Hope to hear something soon.
    Thanx!

  • Animated GIF error

I've joined Creative cloud and was able to create the swf file in Flash Pro CC. Would like to export it as an animated Gif but when I do that it won't play and seems to be a single image. When the swf is created I get this error.
Symbol 'catjum[', Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 69, Line 1, Column 1
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method getURL.
    Please help!

If you are using Flash CC and you have getURL somewhere in your code, that getURL will be the problem since it is AS2 code and Flash CC does not support AS2 code.

  • How to open animated .GIF files in Photoshop CS3 and newer

Q: Since ImageReady is long gone from Photoshop, how can I open animated GIF files in Photoshop CS3 and newer?
    A: File -> import-> video to layers.
In the dialogue box type "*.*" to show all file types.
Select your GIF file and which frames to import.
They will now be available in your animation palette.

    Zeno
curt y, sorry for the late reply, I tried that but I doesn't work. I have to choose at least two files in the Load Layers window in order for the OK button to be available and then some action script uses the different files to make layers and merges them but not from the frames of the gif file. I can undo through the script to see what it did but it never accessed the frames of the gif file, just the first frame. Choosing "make frames from layers" in the animation palette only puts the original files into layers - that is only the first frame of the gif file.
I guess I'm out of luck with the 64  bit version of Photoshop as Zeno suggested :-(
What program would you people suggest for opening each frame from gif files?

  • Animated GIFs In CS3?

I need to edit some animated gifs. I can edit them in Elements 5, but have
not figured out how to do that in CS3. Is it possible, and if yes, how
    please?
    Thank you.

For cs4 you need to run the 32 bit version of photoshop cs4 to use
    Import>Video frames to Layers.
