CS11503 with AVS 3120 appliance

Hi, I am looking at deploying a pair of CS11503 (probably in ASR redundancy mode) connected to redundant 6509 data center aggregation switches. I am also considering a pair of AVS 3120 accelerator appliances. Is it best to have each AVS 3120 directly connected to each CSS11503 or to have the AVS devices directly connected to the 6509 switches - maybe as a cluster on their own dedicated VLAN/SUBNET ?
According to the AVS User Guide doc'n, I have the option to use the built-in AVS Availability Manager, thus not requiring the load balancer?
Thank
Gilles

You can connect the AVS 3120 directly to each of the CSS11503. This setup should work without any issues. You can also use the built-in AVS Availability Manager.

  • Configuring iPhone VPN with other gateway appliances

    Dear Guru,
I'm just wondering if iPhone VPN client can be configured to work with other gateway appliances like Juniper, Netgear, SonicWall, and/or WatchGuard that support IPSec, LT2P, P2P because so far I only hear the most about Cisco gateway appliance. If it supports other appliances, can you help to elaborate how it can be configured for example with WatchGuard, or others.
Your inputs/comments are very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

I am in the same situation. The Netgear forums say the iPhone is CISCO only. Any help to get iPhone VPN connected to fvs318?

  • CD-ROM drive letter changed to the next available letter after an issue with the Storage appliance.

    Server platform:Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
Last time we experienced an issue with the storage device we are using to  attach a disk to our server 2008 (virtual). This storage device is also providing storage to the ESX where the server 2008 is hosted.
The drive configuration in the server was:
    System C:\
    Tools D:\
    Apps E:\
    CD-ROM F:\
Some hours after the storage appliance issue, we realized the Application on the server was not working and then we restarted the server. After restarting the server we went to the file explorer and realized that the Apps volume had the drive letter F and
the CD-ROM had the E letter assigned.
I assume windows lost the Apps disk due to the SAN disconnection. Maybe the CD-ROM was also disconnected and when the Storage appliance was connected again the CD-ROM acquire the next drive letter it found, which was the letter E:. Then the Apps disk was
also discovered by Windows and it assigned the next available letter, F:.
I was looking for some MS knowledge base to see how Windows 2008 server assigns the letter to the CD-ROM and how we can permanently fix the letter assigned to the disks and the CD-ROM so that this issue won't happen again. As you know many applications use
the path including the drive letter.
I thought that when you set a CD-ROM drive letter, it remains forever as is, and that in case of a SAN disconnection Windows assigns the same letter the drive had before the disconnection.
Please advice if you have some documentation about this. And let me know if you have any thoughts about what really happened to prevent this in the future.
    Thank you guys!!

Hi, for the APP's drive it could had been assigned a new letter if the system did seen it as a new disk/partition.
The partition was on your esx's LUN on the SAN ? (not an iSCSI connection from inside a VM?)

  • VLAN with ASA 5500 appliance

We have a CME 4.0 setup and getting ready to configure VLAN's for Voice and data. Our LAN gateway is ASA 5500 security appliance. Do we need a router behind the ASA appliance to do VLAN trunking?
or can the ASA appliance do VLAN trunk?
We use 4503 Chassis for Core and 3560 switches for other buildings.
We use 3845 Router with CME 4.0. Do we make this the LAN gateway and configure default GW on this router as the ASA appliance?
    Thanks
    AD

    Hi,
You may configure the very CME Router as the InterVLAN Trunking device. If the phones are directly connected to the CME Router, nothing has to be done to the ASA configuration. Remember to configure the CME Router and the phones´ports in the switch as trunk ports.

  • Exactly what can you manage centrally with the Management Appliance?

So, we're thinking of getting a pair of M1070 Management Appliances to work with our cluster of C360 mail appliances (AsyncOS 7.6).
It is not completely clear (a) which things can be centrally handled, and (b) which things can be handled in a redundant manner.  It is also not clear how the redundancy works - are things copied to both all the time?  If the primary management appliance goes down for a while, are the missed logs copied over from the secondary when it comes back?  When the primary is down, does the secondary take over a virtual IP so that users will still go to the same URL for quarantines?
Logging, reporting, and message tracking all seem to be easily done centrally, and are duplicated to the redundant.
As far as I can tell, the spam quarantine can be centralised, and it seems that it is replicated to the secondary if you have AsyncOS>7.2.  I can't tell if the safelist/blocklist is replicted between the two, though, and what happens in a failover situation, although it seems it is held centrally.  I've seen conflicting information about this, one saying that secondaryconfig can duplicate spam quarantines, the other saying you need to do some sleight-of-hand with content filters to duplicate messages to both management quarantines.
Is there a way to make other quarantines on the management servers?  We'd like to have our policy quarantine held centrally, and redundant, so that if we lose a datacentre we can still release policy-quarantined messages.  I can't tell how you can set thisup.
Finally, we currently route our emails via the cluster of C360 mail appliances.  Would we continue to do this (and they send logs, quarantines etc to the management appliances), or would we have to instead route our emails via the new managment appliances, which then forward them on to the C360s?
If anyone there has successfully set up a redundant management appliance setup I'd be keen to hear the details.

I haven't set up redundant SMA's so I can't help much there... I'm reasonably sure that one acts as a backup destination for the other, but I may have that all wrong.
As far as what can be centralized, as of ESA 8.0.0 and SMA 8.1 (might still be FCS, you can request it from TAC), you can centralize Policy, Virus and Outbreak quarentines, along with the already available spam quarentine and message tracking... Set up the policies and quarentines on the ESAs, point the SMA at the two ESAs, and tell it to import the quarentines, and will bring over the data that's there and reconfig the ESA's to send the policy quarentined mail over, just like it does for the spam quarentine.
You would continue to route mail through the C360s.  The M boxes don't do mail flow, other than centralizing the quarentines, and dealing with quarentine releases...

  • Problems with a 3120 - shuts off randomly

    Hi there.
I've owned my Nokia 3120 for about 2 and a half years now, so I guess it may be getting a little long in the tooth, but I haven't had any problems with it. Recently however, it has begun shutting off randomly, possibly as a result of the odd bump and scrape it's taken through the years (I have a toddler, and toddlers love to throw things). Any advice on what could be happening to the phone, and if I'm probably better off getting a new phone?
    Allan.

Well, the plot has thickened on this particular little beastie. It hasn't shut off randomly in a bit - but I've noticed that if I try to write a text message 9/10 times it will freeze if I type more than about 15 characters and will stay like that a sec, go blank, and then return to the normal wallpaper screen as if nothing had happened with no backlight. It takes a sec for it to read the sim card, and then I can use my phone as normal, providing I don't want to text anyone.
I do not believe that the battery connections have anything to do with this problem, judging from the fact that I have swapped the battery and ensured that the pins connecting it to the phone are in the same order as the phone I swapped the battery from.
    Allan.

  • SWF Video file made with AVS

I have a videofile given to me from the client as a SWF, they
have used AVS software to convert.
I load the SWF file in using MovieClipLoader, it plays ok,
however, I can't seem to control it. I need to know when the clip
is finished, and for it to stop looping. I also want to be able to
stop it when the video is clicked.
Has anyone had experience of this type of Video file? I would
    appreciate any response,

Well, if you are weighing things against WMP, it could be that PrE could have done something differently.
Now, I am not a fan of WMP, and am REALLY not a fan of RealMedia Player. I liken that latter one to a Trojan, waiting to happen. I last had a version installed about 12 years ago, and would never let another copy near any of my computers.
Besides the two that I mentioned, GOM Player gets high marks, as well.
    Good luck,

  • Experience with router/firewall appliance?

    Hi,
I'm searching for a router/firewall appliance to run as a virtual machine in front of a larger number of VMs.
    What I need:
    * L2TP for remote user access
    * Ethernet/L2 VPN for hosting ActiveDirectory servers for customers
So far I've tested Vyatta, but I don't want to use it becuase the WebUI is not included in the free license (and their licensning is a bit inflexible). I've also tested pfSense, but I dislike the fact that their L2TP server doesn't support DNS suffix, which I kind of need to get all Microsoft SMB shares working nicely.
Any recommendations? I prefer if it's open source/free or relativley affordable (less than $400).

You should probably download and try Halon's https://solutionexchange.vmware.com/store/products/halon-vsr-virtual-security-router 'cause it supports both L2 tunnels and search domain over VPN. There's a free version.

  • Help please with the 3120 classic

I'm a new user to this phone and have recently purchased a memory card.  I have inserted the memory card but am unable to access it.  I have looked everywhere to find out how I can access it as well as how to move photos from the phone's memory to the memory card.
If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yup the card was faulty as it wasn't readable from the salesperson's phone either.  I suggest that if anyone else incurs this problem to take it back straight away from the store they purchased from as you will be able to get a replacement at no cost - do make sure that they check the new memory card first just in case it's another faulty one.
Thank you for all your help

  • At a loss with basic setup

I?m at a loss with this whole avs3120 accelerator and the css11503. I thought this would be a seamless integration. Can anyone out there help me because at this point I?m about to give up on this thing. Here?s what I have: an avs 3120, avs 3180 (mgmt), css11503, and two PeopleSoft servers. Everything is directly connected to 6509 so AVS isn?t directly connected to CSS. At the very least, all I want to do is utilize the AVS for the PeopleSoft server. No magic or anything, I just want to see this thing work.
The url that I want the users to resolve to is http://psftavs.domain.com
    - Which is the ip of the AVS, let?s say 192.168.250.173
    - Currently there?s no application specific configs on the AVS, just the default setting
    - Destination mapping is: default -> 192.168.250.247 PROTOCOL=clientprotocol
    - This is a vip on the CSS that?s pointing to the two servers.
    1) Is my destination mapping correct?
    2) Should my destination mapping from the AVS, be pointing to the server IP addresses?
    3) I don?t have any configs on CSS for this, do I need a redirect statement or something? I don?t want the URL to change.
I get nothing when I type in the url psftavs.domain.com; however, the vip URL works which is psftprd.domain.com; I basically get my PeopleSoft login page and can log in.
If you need more information let me know. I have a generic diagram to help out with my layout, not sure if I?m explaining myself correctly.
    Regards,
    Thai

The detination mapping should point to the server's ip address. On the AVS 3120 appliance, the left-most interface (Ethernet 1) is used for management console connectivity.

How do i interface labview program with real life appliances. For example: interface with light bulb

I suppose you could also find some kind of adapter to turn it into an IP based appliance and you could control it through the ethernet.  Or you could wait a few decades and interface LabVIEW 2059 with your cranial implant to directly control your light bulb.

I am using PC suite 6.81.13.0 on a XP machine, with both a Nokia 6100 and a Nokia 3120 both via a DKU-5 serial cable on com4 (USB). With the 3120 connected I can't get the "phone browser" to display the phone "contacts ".
According to nokia website I shouldn't be having hardware or software compatibitity issues. What am I doing wrong?

Do you get an error message?
Make sure the contacts are on the phone memory and not the SIM card.

  • WAVE274 appliance not peering with any other WAAS appliances

Added new remote site today utilizing a WAVE274 appliance as the site only has three T1s.  I'm using WCCP to redirect traffic to the appliance and wccp indicates that the appliance and router are communicating properly.  The appliance resides on a different subnet from servers and is excluded from acceleration via WCCP access-list.  For some reason the appliance is not peering with any of the other WAAS devices.  The WAAS manager sees the appliance and is able to fully control it.  All other sites are using either NME-WAEs or  SM-SREs running WAAS.  Previously I was using this WAVE274 at another location and replaced it with an NME-WAE so I know the appliance works.  I've attached the topology.  Any clues as to why it is not peering with at least the main site as there should always be traffic traversing to that site.
I have "ip wccp 62 redirect in" on all WAN interfaces and "ip wccp 61 redirect in" on all LAN interfaces on the routers.

    Hi David,
When you say the 274 appliance is not peering with other WAAS appliances, do you see the traffic as pass through.
What do you see immediately after when you initiate some connection from behind 274 to other sites and check the output of "show stat connection | in
