You don't.
Adobe shut down the CS2 activation server a couple of years ago. Forget any discs and serial numbers which you currently have. They no longer work. However Adobe has provided a workaround.
Download a non-activation version of CS2 from Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Install then enter the new non-activation serial number (not your existing CS2 serial number) provided at the link above.

it seems that adobe wants people to by there over priced products at every upgrade. because i was unable to deactivate my pscs2 be for doing a system restore ia'm now unable to reactivate the program. i successfuly transfered the software from a win xp computer to a win 7 computer and had it work great for six years, adobe tech support claims if will only work on win xp & vista. anyone out there now of a solution?

You have to download a special version of CS2 that does not require activation but needs the new serial number they also provide.

I found the correct page for resolving this, but CS2 still works fine on my other computer. I did get a new computer but wasn't having activation problems with CS2 untill recently on the new computer. Ouestion...should I follow the instructions for Activation Server Unavailable on my new computer, and also on my other computer (where CS2 is working fine) or use tec support based on another adobe note that states "if you have a new computer, this cannot be done alone"

Photoshop CS2 activation issues

I recently had to purchase a new hard drive for my computer and had to reinstall my copy of Photoshop CS2. It will not activate or allow me to use it. The Adobe website shows the product is registered to me...so I see no reason for all this trouble. I have spend hours trying to reinstall from the original CD as well as trying from the Adobe website. I am currently one frustrated person who is VERY upset with Adobe at this point. If this is their way of telling me to buy a newer version of their product - it will NEVER happen.
Any usable input would be greatly appreciated. This is certainly holding up my photo work. Thank you in advance!!

Dear Adobe support team, we have downloaded the Photoshop cs2 from the link http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html. As per your suggestion I un-installed the older version and installed new version and tried to activate the product. But I have failed to activate as per your instruction. I want to get rid of activation message. Kindly also let us know what all do we have to un-install before the fresh installation.

We are able to active CS2 in administration login. Now there is no activation message.
Now there is a different message window popping up. Every time I launch Photoshop CS2, the adobe updater message is popping up. I am not able to take screen shot of the window. We tried deactivating this in msconfig options but no success.

Photoshop CS2 Activation Problem

I'm trying to install Photoshop CS2 for a client, but when I launch the application I get the error: "An error has been detected and activation cannot continue. Please restart your computer and reinstall the application"
I've already done the obvious thing to reboot and re-install the application with the same error. I tried deleting temporary files to no avail. Is there any other solution I should try before I re-image the machine?

I'm getting this same error message "An error has been detected with a required application library ...". I have used my CS2 for the last 3 years with no issues. I've un-installed and re-installed 4 times to no avail. Is there really no fix? That seems pretty incredible that no one has found a solution.
Anybody been able to resolve? Is it as simple as disabling the firewall & antivirus?

CS2 Activation problem

I just installed Adobe CS2 on a work computer and at the activation screen it says it could not detect the internet, yet the internet works fine on this computer. I am using it to post this topic! What is the problem here?

Adobe CS2 Activation issue

Every time we launch CS2 it asks for Activation. I visited Adobe help center for solution and Adobe suggests downloading new installer of CS2. But adobe says you have to use the serial No (1045-1412-5685-1654-6343-1431) for successful installation as mentioned on the link

My worry is that when we had purchased CS2, we were given a different serial No.
Can we uninstall the older version of CS2?
Are we authorized to use the new serial No?

I donwloaded this apparent 'fix'pf 3 files which are all exe files. They are completely different to the ones mentioned in the accompanying PDF of how to instal. Adobe are worng to have done this to their customers. I have already wasted nearly a day uninstalling, downloading, and then trying to instal with a set of files that the installer seems to see onlythe first one of the necessary three.
If anyone has managed to reinstall CS2 using these 3 files then please can you leave good clear instruction - Adobe are, so far at least, misleading those who download and make the effort to tyr and fix something purposly broken by Adobe. They seem only interested in their need to sell something else - get more money - force faithful customers into their plans. This activation discontinuation is a sly and disrespectful action by Adobe. Thumbs down.

GoLive CS2 activation issue

I recently changed my PC and loaded up GoLive from my CS2 suite, but when I tried to activate it I got nowhere. Searching around the net I found an Adobe page stating that activation was no longer possible for CS2 software and offering new downloadables with serials that dont need activation. I downloaded it but when I tried to use the CS2 serial provided, it tells me it is not a legitimate serial number - I checked I had typed it in correctly, including the dashes, but it still doesn't work.
So, the softeware I paid for can't be activated anymore and the fix offered doesn't work. What the hell am I supposed to do now??? (and why are Adobe treating their customers so badly?)

Also, the Adobe Activation Servers for the CS/CS2 Suite products have been shut down. There are several threads on most of the affected products' forums, but I do not know about GoLive. As John T. suggests, I would head to the GoLive Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/golive and check if there is a workaround, provided by Adobe.
