Cs2 and cs3 and cs4 on the same pc xp? could be a mess up?

Hi
i have some questions
i bought cs2 some time ago , i guess 4 years but now i don't remember
and i did installed on my pc ,  never had a problem
after when cs3 come out , i tried the trial version , the first time i did  not like it , but after 2 weeks , i liked and i need it for camera raw
i upgraded my cs2 license
well the point i donwnload the trial version of cs4  (english version , because most of the tutorials are in english) while cs2 and cs3 are in my language
i tried to make a custom install (i did not install all the comonent)
something went wrong ,when i tried to uninstall cs4 , i don't know but cs4 did not uninstall all the components (the uninstaller keeps adobe color Na, Ja, Eu, color common setting and cmaps)
i downloaded the cs4 cleaner for adobe page , but the adobe cleaner for cs4 was not able to clean these components, it tried to clean cs3
well i  had to use windows installer clean up manually
delete every thing that is related to cs4
uninstall cs3 and re-install it
so after this mess, i ask if i can keep cs2 cs3 and cs4 (i think i will buy or upgrade) in the same pc running xp?
my second question
2) after updating cs4 , run the cs4 update utility and update all the cs4 components , cs4 seems to be more fast then cs3 , still on old pc with a powerfull machine like a p4 3.6 with 2gb of ram  and a good graphic card pci express
is my feeling ? is the cs4 more fast then cs3 on not fast pc , isn't it?
thanks too much
and have a nice day

thanks John Joslin
CS4 is faster than CS3 on a computer which supports it.
which are the computer that supports it ? i run xp
why did the uninstaller do a mess up ?
thanks

  • CS3 Bridge and CS4 on the same machine.

    Hello Everyone,
I have adobe photoshop CS3 and Illustrator CS4 on my machine.  Any known issues for running bridge CS3 and CS4 on the same machine?  Some experts at telling me not to use Photoshop CS3 with Bridge CS4, just wondering.  Thanks for you replies.

Bridge is not really a stand alone product, and tuned to work with its current version of PS.  Also, Bridge CS4 has some features changed and/or added.  So if using CS3 Bridge you might have aspects that don't work with PS CS4.
I would keep CS3 on the machine if you don't need the HD space, until you feel you no longer need the older version.  But use them as a pair as intended.  Also, only have one Bridge running at a time.
I did not upgrade to CS4, but from what I have read I see no reason to use Bridge CS3 as the upgrade is faster, less prone to crashes, and has added features.
CS4 PS on the other hand can be tricky if you don't have a newer computer with a good video card.

  • CS2 and CS5 on the same PC

    Hello,
I am waiting for the student version of CS5 to arrive via UPS, in the mean time the target PC has CS2 on it. Can I leave CS2 on and still install CS5?
    Thanks
    Foto

Yes, the two will coexist peacefully together, and it's actually a good idea to leave it installed.  The only thing is you can't actually run both at the same time.
But with CS2 still on your computer you have the option to go back and check things in the app you're used to, which can be handing when setting up the new one to work the way you want.  And it can be a fallback for you if you just can't get something to work right in CS5.
If you have the disk space there's really no reason to ever remove CS2.  If you leave it in there you can, for example, in the future help people on this forum who have CS2 questions.

  • LAN and WAN share the same MAC address -- could this be a security issue?

When I bought the AEBS(n), I was a bit surprised to see only one ethernet MAC address listed (on bottom of unit, or was it in config utility?), in addition to wireless MAC. My main router has two ethernet MACs.
So last nite, I investigated. I confirmed my suspicion that both the WAN port and the LAN ports share the same MAC address! My setup has the AEBS WAN port plugged into my home LAN's main router, and a Linux machine plugged into a LAN port of the AEBS.
View of AEBS WAN side (from main router at 192.168.1.1)
    ii# arp
    Seconds IP Address MAC Address
    734 66.130.224.1 001120A87AF5 -- ISP router
    789 192.168.1.21 0016CBC430A6 -- AEBS WAN port
    28 192.168.1.33 0010DC47DC53 -- home PC
    824 192.168.1.73 00065BB2F295 -- work PC
View of AEBS LAN side (from a Linux box at 10.0.1.41)
    root@LKG7CAE25 # cat /proc/net/arp
IP address HW type Flags HW address Mask Device
    10.0.1.1 0x1 0x2 00:16:CB:C4:30:A6 * eth0
10.0.1.1 on the LAN side of AEBS and 192.168.1.21 on the WAN side of the AEBS both use the same MAC address, 00:16:CB:C4:30:A6.
I tried to provoke some leakage between the two sides (for example with broadcast packets), but haven't been able to do it so yet. Perhaps the switch in front of the eth MAC has enough smarts to keep the two subnets separate? Still it sort of worries me, if I used the AEBS as my only router, that both WAN and LAN go thru the same ethernet MAC (same h/w). I browsed here but found no discussion on this.
    Comments anyone?

.... This is why there are separate MAC addresses
for ethernet and wireless, they are physically
different networks. In the case of the WAN/LAN, both
are ethernet-type networks but are physically
distinct (this is the purpose of a router like the
AEBS), so having the same MAC address on both sides
won't cause any sort of collision nor should it be
possible to leak across networks. MAC addresses can't
be used for routing beyond the physical network.
If it is indeed two different NICs sharing a single MAC, then indeed it is not an issue as you would never want to connect these two NICs together. But is it really two NICs?
My worry is that these two subnets are on the same physical network, with some magic going on to keep them separate anyway. Do we have some picture of AEBS internals? Maybe that would answer the question...

  • Using CS3 and CS4 on the same computer

I have CS3 and have used it for about two years completing many projects and I am considering upgrading to either CS4 or CS5.  When and if i do this will I have to delete CS3 and replace it with the newer version or can they both remain functional on the computer?  And how compatible are the projects, can you open a CS3 project in CS4 or CS5 without issues?

CS5 will ask to convert and save new copies of your CS3 and 4 projects when you open them. They will work in CS5, but they will not be backwards-compatible.
And how compatible are the projects, can you open a CS3 project in CS4
    or CS5 without issues?

  • Version 1 and CS4 on the Same System?

    Hello,
I am ready to install the CS4 Production bundle but I have an active project in Encore 1.
I have read that I can not open the V1 files in Encore CS4.
Is there a way to still use the V1 file?
Or can I have V1 installed along with CS4 in order to finish this project?
It is quite involved with a lot of menus and chapter points.
    Thanks

    Tim,
I'd finish in Encore 1. I did the version 1 to CS2 conversion for another user, and she was able to get about 99% of her Project into CS4. Still, there were a few little problems. Unless you absolutely require something in CS4, I'd not recommend that conversion route.

  • Any issues with Premiere CS5 and CS4 on the same machine?

I want to install the trail version of Premiere CS5, but I want to know if I'll still be able to run CS4 if needed during the trial period, as well as after the trial period if I decide not to upgrade.  Does uninstalling CS5 mess up CS4 in any way?
    J. D.

The only issue I've found was related to tape capturing. My Canon XH A1 footage stopped being captured when I installed CS5 as trial (However I've had it as trial for a few hours only). Once I entered the licence it started working again. This is the only thing! Don't uninstall Acrobat Pro if you do have it installed.
This could have to do with the fact that as trial some codecs are not installed. Case in point is AME CS5, it is only able to export to a few formats as trial.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop CS4 on the same system?

    Hi all,
I was wondering is it possible to have both Adobe Photoshop CS2 and CS4 on my computer at the same time.  I heard that this would cause errors, but if there is, is there a work around for it.  Thanks in advance.

Quite a few people keep an older version in case there is something not right for them in the newer version.
Just make sure they are installed in that order.
Be prepared to have your file associations changed.
What is you OS by the way?

  • CS2 and CS4 on same computer?

Hello! I hope this has not already been asked and answered but I did honestly try to find an answer and failed. Anyway:
    Mac with CS2 currently installed.
QUESTION: If I buy the CS4 upgrade, can I install it and have both CS2 AND CS4 running on the same computer? Not necessarily simultaneously...just be able to launch one or the other.
If yes, where might instructions for such an installation be?
    Thanks a bunch.
PS. I tried downloading a trial version of CS4 from Adobe website and could not get their "special" downloader to work. Tried Safari and Firefox. Is there some special trick?

    It is too easy.
I can't make myself get rid of ID2 and IDCS, though I no longer use them (or IDCS2) for production.

  • I have tried downloading photoshop cs2 and cs4 on a new computer.  I have the disc available for cs2 and the serial number for cs4.  They are both registered in my name.  I need help doing a download.

I have tried downloading photoshop cs2 and cs4 on a new computer.  I have the disc available for cs2 and the serial number for cs4.  They are both registered in my name.  I need help doing a download.  I was able to get part way through cs4, it showed up in my downloads but never got as far in the process as to ask for serial numbers.  I tried with cs2 and I got an error message that some bit of information was incorrect.  I currently have both downloaded on two other lap tops I own.  One is operational and one is dead.  I cannot access the dead one to remove the program. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

For CS2 you will need to download a special new version

  • Can I run Photoshop CS4 and CS5 on the same system?

I read somewhere a zillion years ago (right?) that you coould run CS4 and CS5 on the same system but at the time I wasn't even considering it.
Run on the same system - not ness to run at the same time
Or should I install it on a seperate drive (bootable) and go that route. What has everyone found to work and/or not work?
Thanks in advance for your help
    BJ

Yes, you can run CS4 an CS5 on the same computer.  They install in different folders and don't get in each other's way.  As a matter of fact, you will find many posts in this forum from the experts recommending to keep CS4 (or an earlier version) when installing CS5.  This way, there is no danger of losing any older plug-ins you may have that aren't compatible to CS5.
When I installed PS CS5 I had problems with my scanner driver.  Instead of spending loads of time fixing that problem, I just use PS CS4 when I want to spend an afternoon scanning things. I'm not recommending that "lazy man's" solution, but it is an example of how CS4 and CS5 can be used on the same system.

  • Can I install Web Standard CS4 and Design Standard CS4 on the same machine?

Can I install Web Standard CS4 and Design Standard CS4 on the same machine?  My company purchased me a copy of one, and I have a personal copy of the other.  Wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any serial number problems in any case...thanks!

Yes, but do a custom install to choose the apps to install to avoid any possibility of conflicts.

  • Color changes between CS2 and CS4 opacity with effects turned on

    Howdie.
I don't run into issues much with Photoshop, and this one has me stumped.
I needed to drop back to CS2 in order to use a warp mesh plugin.  I saved out a small portion of a file that I created in CS4 (Only containing the layer I needed to warp) and then opened that file in CS2, turned off all the effects (drop shadow, inner glow, bevel & emboss), and applied the mesh warp, then saved the file.  I went back into CS4 and re-opened it there and copied its layers into the bigger, original file.  What is strange is that the colors were a LOT lighter than they should be when compared to the original unwarped layer.  So in an attempt to figure out what was wrong, I checked all of my layer opacities, filter settings, layer mixing mode, etc. and everything was exactly the same.  I even tried deleting the layer style and copying the layer style from the original layer...no change.  I turn off the effects and check the color of the object and it reads the same as the original layer.  Both layers have no semi-transparency in the colors.  I turn the effects on and it is all whacked out.  After a while, I figured out that the problem was that the layer opacity in the effects, although reading the same between both layers (70%), is behaving as if it should be at 90% opacity in the new layer in order to match the original.  Its as if the layer worked on in CS2 has brought with it some corrupted info in its definition, that never leaves and affects any Effects you try to apply to it.
Has anyone experienced this one before?

A liitle bit more info here.  Apparently, the pixel data for the warped parts screws with the effect, Inner Glow, in the Choke and Size sliders.  The sliders simply quit functioning and have an abrupt light/dark toggle effect roughly near about value "7".
The only way I could fix the problem was to do this convoluted solution, since Duplicate Layer does not work.
        1.  Clear the effects on the problem layer.
        2.  At this point you can either work on the problem layer directly or duplicate it to create a work layer.  Doesn't really matter because both layers will get deleted later anyway.
        3.  With Channel Mixer, and for EACH color channel CMYK, move all 4 sliders hard left, so that the result is 0/0/0/0 for the CMYK values  (Do NOT use Brightness & Contrast in place of Channel Mixer because you will lose any blurred edges.  Also, using Channel Mixer does not swell or choke off the pixels along any "floating" shapes' edges).
        4.  With the selection tool, create two small selection boxs at two opposite corners of the entire layer.  Fill them with any color.
        5.  Select the entire layer (CNTL + A on a PC), and copy it to the clipboard.
        6.  Create a new Alpha channel and Paste.  The little boxs at the opposite corners of the file were needed to precisely position a copy of the layer when we Paste it into the new channel.  The contents of the channel must be exactly registered with where the original shapes were in the problem layer.
        7.  If you want, you can now delete the boxs in the corners of the channel by filling them with black.
        8.  Create a new layer and load the selection (the channel) we just created.
        9.  Fill it with the desired color.
        10.  Copy the desired effects from the original layer before warping was done and to the new layer we just created.
        11.  Delete the old problem layer.
        12.  Done.

  • How do I type Hebrew and English on the same page

How do I type Hebrew and English on the same page in Indesign?

What version of InDesign are you using? And on what operating system? Switching keyboard ("input methods") is in your OS, not in InDesign. InDesign has had the capability to display right-to-left languages since CS4, but only the Middle East edition has the abilities to actually manipulate Hebrew text. If you're trying to do a bilingual, bidirectional document, you'll need the ME edition. If you are a CC subscriber, it comes with your subscription; if you are not, you'll need to buy another version of ID, or a plugin that will allow you to access those RTL features.

Yes, flash builder 4 was the name given to what is effectively flex 4.
    This answer is, essentially wrong.
Flex 4 is a Software Development Kit (SDK) that includes a compiler, a user interface framework, and a few other items.
Flash Builder 4 is an IDE that can be used to develop Flex applications.  Flash Builder 4 can also be used to code ActionScript w/o any dependencies to the Flex Framework.
Grizzzzzzzzzz wrote: 2. Are Flash Builder 4 and Flash CS4 the same ?
No, Creative suite 4 is a software library consisting of many different programs
This answer is much more correct; but for additional clarification:
Flash Builder 4 is an IDE that programmers can use to develop applications for the Flash Platform.
Flash Professional CS4 is an IDE that Designers can use to create time-line based animations for the Flash Platform.
One is geared for designers; and another for programmers.  In theory they can be used to reach the same end point although I wouldn't want to do application programming in Flash Professional; nor would I Want to do design stuff in Flash Builder.
