CS2 and Lightroom 2

My apologies if this has been answered before but I was unable to find the answer.I would take more time to look for the answer but time is my enemy at the moment and I need a rather quick answer.
I am currently using Lightroom 2 to download, catalog and edit my photos. However, there are some things that I would like to do that I need Photoshop for. This morning I started up my Photoshop CS2 and opened one of the photos (DNG) that I had modified in Lightroom 2 (exposure, etc.) and noticed that none of the modifications were apparent in CS2. What do I need to do to bring the Lightroom modifications into CS2?
Larry

Is Lightroom like Elements in that it writes metadata to a database?  If so in elements one would go to file/write keywords and Properties info to Photo.  Might be something similar to get the metadata onto the photo.
Photoshop and Bridge does not use database for metadata.
Good Luck.

  • Keyword Exchange between Bridge CS2 and Lightroom

    Hello,
I was was using bridge CS2 to sort my pics with keywords and EXIF and now switched to lightroom. When I imported the pics everything was OK, data were taken over. When I now use bridge to add new keywords they are not recognized in lightroom and vice versa. Since I want to use both programs in the future how can I "synchronize" data like keywords or EXIF ...
I would be VERY glad if someone could help!!
    Kind regards from Germany
    Stephan

Yes, but as far as I understand this feature exports/imports all your keywords in a list but not the assingments you made to a photo. For example if I have a photo in bridge with people whose names were newly assigned as keywords. Now I open LR but nothing has changed to the keywords of that picture. So what can I do to synchronize the keywords of the pics (newly assigned/added keywords in bridge to LR or vice versa)?

  • Graphics Card for Lightroom and also CS2 and Maybe CS3

Hi. I am still using a PC I build about 3 years ago with a ASUS P4PE mother board. It has been very good but I am wondering if it is best to now change to a later PC or, upgrade.
I have used 1GB Ram and just got another IGB to install, but my real concern is with the Graphics Card. At present I have a Matrox Millenium G550 which as I recall has just 32MB Ram. At the time this was considered one of the best, if not the best card for 2D Images. However, I now see 256 and 512 Ram cards as norm, but they always refer to being cards for games. I never have and never will wish to play any games on a PC. So advice needed please, what is considered the best Graphics Card for Photoshop CS2 and now Lightroom?
Incidently my Processor is just a P4 2.66 this has served me well so far, but!! I maywell get another PC but for now I feel I just want to try the best upgrades I can.
This is my first post here and look forward to your answers and advice.
    All the best, Ron dps.

The high-powered graphic processors being sold today are fantastic for games but offer zero improvement for digital photo editing. What you have is more than enough. Increasing your SDRAM to 2GB will help the most.

i bought the photoshop cs2 cs3 cs5 and lightroom and lightroom 4. i can't install on may new macbookpro 13inch?

On which operating system are you trying to install these Adobe apps?
Please specify the operating system name and version.
If you have purchased new Macbook Pro, then you should have atleast Mac OSX 10.9 or later. However, i doubt you will be able to install most of these apps on it as they are pretty old apps except CS5 & Lr4.
Still you can give it a shot and check.
What happens when you try to install them?
Do you get any error message? An error screenshot or full text of the error, should be helpful.

Hi I have been having a problem with Bridge in CS4 recently. So uninstalled CS4 and Lightroom 4.4 and reinstalled them on my Desktop PC. When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I have spent two weeks going through preferences etc. to find how to resolve my problem. Please can you Help? Meany thanks in advance

I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them,  However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

  • Using LR2 w/ Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7

    I am using Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7 on a Mac G4, OS X 10.4.11.
I am about to install my upgrade to Lightroom 2. Is this a bad idea?
I have read about some compatibility issues re Camera Raw, and I have also read about how to solve the issue of exporting the keywords.
Will this keyword issue fix work on my system?
What are the real-world practical implications of still having Camera Raw 3.7? I usually adjust images in Lightroom, then any further adjustment is done in Photoshop (not CR). So is the only downside going to be that if I revisit the image in Camera Raw, the adjustments will not show up? Or will it also not show up in Bridge?? And if it is only in CR, is it that the image does not have the adjustments; or does it show the adjusted image, but has just all the sliders zeroed out?
I am hot to install LR2, but I want to make sure that I am not going to open a can of worms. And yes, I could buy PS CS4 (which would get me CR 4.5), and I would like to, but I don't have a G5. And I cannot afford to buy a new desktop computer right now.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    >so is the LR version of RAW as good as the one in CS3?
It's far better as it has local adjustments and such. Lightroom is more equivalent to the ACR in CS4. To make changes you make to images in ACR outside Lightroom show up in Lightroom, you need to sync the metadata. ACR does not write the changes to RAW images to the Lightroom database, but it writes it into xmp sidecars either right next to the RAW file or embedded into it. So Lightroom has no idea you did anything until you specifically ask it to check for updated metadata.
Note that trying to work with both bridge/ACR and Lightroom on the same set of data will inevitably make you lose data or edits at some point as you're dealing with a synchronization issue, so be careful.

  • Anyone else found BUG with Photoshop and Lightroom capture time?

Has anyone else experienced this or can you replicate it?
    *The problem:
Changing the capture time of an image in Lightroom and then exporting to Photoshop causes a program error in Photoshop when saving.
    *My environment:
    Mac Intel - OS X 10.5.2 - Lightroom V1.3 - Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 - Canon 20D RAW files
    *Steps to reproduce
Import several RAW images in to Lightroom (tested using 20D RAW files)
Modify the capture time for one of the images
Export to Photoshop using Photo -> Edit in Photoshop CS3
    Change the image slightly
    File -> Save
You should get a program error
Try again but for an image with an unmodified capture time.
Can anyone else replicate this on Mac and/or Windows? Also what about CS2 and different RAW formats from other cameras.
Does anyone know what is causing it and is there a work around.
    Thanks

  • Installing DNG converter in CS4 and Lightroom 2.o

I am using Photoshop CS4 And Lightroom 2 on a windows 63bit platform. I have upgraded my camera to a Nikon 5200 and need to upgrade the camera raw file. I have downloaded camera raw 7.3 and it went through an install process for Light rpoom. However, Lightroom and photoshop still does not open the raw files from the new camera. What am I missing?

CS4 and LR 2.x are not compatible with ACR 7.3. You will need to Upgrade to CS6 or LR 4 or both to use your camera's raw files.
Or, you can download Adobe's Free DNG Converter and convert your NEF's to DNG files that are backwards compatible with all versions of Lightroom and PS back to CS2 (if memory serves).

  • Q. Does Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2 run safely on Snow Leopard?

I have an iMac OS X v10.6.2 I use Photoshop CS2 but would like to upgrade to CS4 and Lightroom 2 however I continue to hear that there are numerous problems; crashes, etc. Is this still the case or have these problems been resolved?

LR 2 seems fine on my imac - great in 64-bit mode.
Photoshop CS4 has some serious issues for me — I've been shipping off 3-4 crash reports to Adobe and Apple +per day+. I'd recommend holing off until PS CS5 comes out, maybe in a few months. It should be 64-bit, so it can use more than 4GB of RAM. And PS CS5 will hopefully dedicate more than one processor core to saving files.
If you just can't wait, you'll want to be running 10.6.2. There are some fixes to the OS resolving a font issue w/ Menlo and file saving issues with PS.

There are some printer drivers that do not work correctly with Apple's new printing path that PS and LR2 use. If you let us know what printers you are printing to we can probably tell you if they will work properly or not or point you to new drivers or other information.

  • Transferring Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom from Macbook to new Imac

    Hello all,
I am currently running Photoshop CS4 extended version 11.0.1 and Lightroom version 2.3 on an early Macbook model 1.1, I have the original install disks for Lightroom, but when upgrading to CS4 extended I downloaded the upgrade from the Adobe website. I am receiving a new Imac this month and would like to explore my options for correctly transferring (migrating?) these programs to the new Imac. My search on this forum reveals that migration assistant may not be the best option for these two programs, any insight is appreciated.

LR won't be a problem, just install it on the new computer. As long as you don't use them on both systems at the same time you won't violate the licensing terms.  If you LR was an update you will also need the key from the 1.x version.
For PS CS4 just run it on the MacBook and de-activate it (Help->Deactivate...). Then download the PS CS4 package from Adobe and install it on your new system using the same license keys you used to install it on the MacBook. Since you indicated you upgraded to CS4 (from what version you didn't say) you will need the license key from the original (CS, CS2, CS3??) and the license key to the upgrade to CS4.
After installation of PS CS4 you may also need to manually install updates as it is often the case that the Adobe updater doesn't recognize the fact that updates are available.

  • Help CS2 and Vista

    Hi,
I’ve been running CS2 on Vista for about 4 years on my laptop with no problems. Last weekend  I got a Malware virus that had to be removed by McAfee. They made some changes to the Vista OS and also installed Service Pack 2 for Vista. Now CS2 won’t load- it asks me for an authorization code and asked that I activate by phone. The Adobe rep directed me to a support page on the Adobe website and to remove the .DAT files in the program licenses file. I tried this – no go. Also tried to run as administrator- no go.
When I looked thru my hard drive folders, I saw that I have adobe program licenses folders in TWO PLACES
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe Systems\Product licenses
    And
    C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\C\ProgramData\Adobe Systems\Product licenses
I’m guessing here, but It seems like McAfee uninstalled CS2 and then reinstalled it and tried to protect my license in a quarantined folder. In any case, the files in each of  the License folders are different. Should I try to move my “quarantined” files to their original folder? Would this be safe? Would this work?
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions here? I didn’t get much help from Adobe on this. They said that CS2 is too old to give phone tech support. ( even though I bought Photoshop CS5 extended and Lightroom to run on my home computer 2 months ago)
I really would like to get this back because without reinstalling from disc. I have customized many CS2 programs, brushes, actions, printer settings etc, that would be lost if I reinstall and from other forums, It seems that a lot of people are having problems installing from disc to Vista.
    Help!!!

My suggestion is to forget about CS2 and Vista and give serious thought to upgrading...NOW! CS2 is totally unsupported under Vista is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing. Why now? Because CS5.5 has already been announced and in the mean time you can get the CS2 to CS5 Design Premium upgrade for $768: http://amzn.to/ekY9fa. That will make you eligible for a free upgrade to CS5.5 when it ships in the next few weeks. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/153/tn_15304.html
The CS2 to CS5.5 upgrade will cost about $200 more. By buying CS5 now you'll save that $200 and get a free upgrade as well as having a supported combination of software and operating system. You'll also keep yourself eligible for upgrade pricing for the foreseeable future.

  • WIll PSE and LR integrate like PS CS2 and LR do?

    As my subject title asks...
If not, is there any workaround?

Under Beta 4, and I assume V1.0, Photoshop CS2 is the default editor, and to use PSE I had to set it up as the additional editor available to LR. (The Beta 4 only allowed two editors CS2 and one other, your choice).
But I got it to work quite nicely with PSE3 and the Trial of PSE5. In both cases, Lightroom invoked the editor portion of PSE directly without going thru the PSE organizer. But then the editor and organizer of PSE are separate programs, I did not have a copy of PSE4 to try (it is my understanding that PSE4 integrated the organizer and editor into a single exe program - so I am not sure how it works with it).
I also got it to work quite well with ACDSee's standalone editor (Editor 4.0 - That really IS it's name - it used to be called fotoCanvas). In fact, it worked so well, that I can see many people seriously considering it over PSE5.
I also briefly tried the PSP trial. Very short trial, but it seemed to work.
LR worked so well with other editors, that I am certain many people will come to the conclusion that the CS series will not be needed for a bit level editor coupled with LR.
One last thing, I had some trouble getting LR and PSE to match each other's color. however, someone at fourThirdsPhoto.com suggested exporing the photos to a folder and opening the exported photos in the editor of your choice. I tried it and the colors matched perfectly with all editors! I'm not sure WHY the direct transfer screws up with PSE, but I DO hope they've got THAT little bug fixed.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop CS4 on the same system?

    Hi all,

Quite a few people keep an older version in case there is something not right for them in the newer version.
Just make sure they are installed in that order.
Be prepared to have your file associations changed.
What is you OS by the way?
