CS2 and Windows 7

I have been using CS2 for many years on windows xp
- my laptop has now died and I have purchased a new one with Windows 7 but it will not load CS2 - how can I get round this please?

For even CS2 to have a chance to work you have to run the install .exe file as Admin. Insert the disk but do not run it. Choose explore and look in the PS CS4 folder for the .exe file and run as Admin.
After install, reboot computer.
Also before you run the software you need to take adobe reader off your computer. Also insure no other adobe products are running in the background. Turn off any anti-virus software and also turn off windows Defender.
If CS2 installs then don't forget to run CS2 the first time as Admin. In Start locate CS2 and right click on that. Choose properties, Compatibility, and check run as Admin. Hit apply then ok to close. Start CS2 and don't forget to update.
PS CS2 is NOT listed on the Microsoft Website as software that is tested and will run on Windows 7. May work, may not.

I have Photoshop CS2 and recently acquired Windows 7.  I want to bring images in directly to Photoshop but the images go through Photo Gallery in Windows.  I can import them into PS, but i want them to come into PS directly.  Also I cannot include images with an email through Photoshop.  How can I change this?
    Thank you,

Did you download and install the replacement CS2 installer Adobe made available for their old CS2 customers?

This behavior is most likely happening when you connect you camera to your Windows system or Plug you Camera media card into your Window's card reader because the autoplay is set to open Windows Photo Gallery.  You need to change the default  but though I have CS2, CS6, CC an CC 2014 installed the only Adobe Autoplay options I see is Bridge CS6 and Bridge CC do not see Bridge or CS2

What email application are you using that can use applications like Photoshop.

  • Compatibility Issues with CS2 and Windows 2000 XP??? This is supposed to be THE one operating system CS2 DOES WORK ON? Can someone help - I really need my CS2 back! Thanks.

HELP! Years ago - SEVEN to be exact- I PURCHASED Adobe CS2 and used it extensively. Then I was in an accident that took five years to recover from. After my recovery I tried to get back to using my Adobe products only to find that Adobe was discouraging use of CS2 and since I OWN a LICENSE and that was the LAST version I used I wanted to begin again with a version I am familiar with. Many months later, apparently I wasn't the only one who wanted to KEEP USING CS2 and now Adobe has made it possible to download this version for PC and MAC, BUT due to OS compatibility issues Adobe continues to discourage downloading and use. HERE'S THE THING: I have the SAME SYSTEM running the SAME OS as when I first PURCHASED IT. I have downloaded the EXACT SAME VERSION of CS2. It installs fine. But I cannot OPEN the application and the troubleshooter reports there are "COMPATIBILITY ISSUES". WHY?!?!?!?!?
I'm on a PC running Windows 2000 XP. I OWN a LICENSE for Adobe CS2 and it used to run on this very same machine. I had to re-format my system two years ago so it has much more free space but when I  try to OPEN the application it won't run. When I run the Windows Troubleshooter it reports system compatibility issues?! Can anyone advise me what to try now??? Thank you.

Yes, I have. My system was completely cleaned of everything and I'm just now RE-INSTALLING CS2 for Windows2000 XP from the Adobe site that gives you versions to select for your OS. I have successfully downloaded disks 1,2 and 3 and I can INSTALL disks 1 and 2, but it FAILS at disk 3. I REALLY need to resolve this today because I need to submit some work by tomorrow and the troubleshooting isn't helping!
Can you advise anything else . . . anyone? Thank you!

  • CS2 and Windows 7 x64 Pro -- some PS1 fonts don't appear in Photoshop.

Since purchasing a new computer running Windows 7 x64 Pro, several of my fonts no longer appear in Photoshop CS2. They were functioning perfectly on my previous system running XP. The particular fonts that do not appear are Type 1 fonts, but other Type 1 fonts function normally. Adobe does not provide support for CS2 on Windows 7 systems. Since I use Photoshop daily, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

For Win7 64bit Pro or Ultimate (or Enterprise?) this is ONE example of using Virtual XP

  • Photoshop CS2 and windows issues! help!

Hi, I'm working with someone who is having issues with Adobe Photoshop CS2 among other Adobe problems.  The problem is that after Photoshop is loaded, the interface is very messed up.  You can't open a file because if you go to menu -> file nothing happens.  If you try to create something new, most of the buttons will be invisible in the option for sizes.  The program simply becomes unusable.  After a restart, the program will work properly for a short period of time and being to behave oddly again.  On loading Photoshop, windows gives an error beep but the program loads anyways and no error window comes up.  This happens on illustrator as well as indesign.  I have uninstalled everything and removed all shared files that adobe uses and reinstalled everything from scratch, the same problem happens.  This only started happening recently.
    OS is XP pro SP3.
I am about to wipe the computer and start from scratch but I would rather not have to do this if there is another solution!
    Please help!  Thank you!

No, it's a standard U.S. keyboard and the language is set to english.  I believe the software is up to date.
It doesn't freeze when you click on the menu, it just refuses to pop open a window when you try to open a file.  Also, many of the option boxes in some of the windows in photoshop are invisible.  This only happens after the computer has been on for a short while.  Right after a reboot, you can open photoshop fine... until it stops working.

  • Photoshop CS2 and Windows Vista 64 bit

I have just loaded Photoshop CS2 onto my new laptop which has Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit as its OS.
All working well except I notice that, when I made adjustments to a layer (for example, using curves to colour adjust,or even just brighten midtones),it takes a long time for any change to take place to the values of colour sample points which I may have applied to the background layer.
I usually place four colour sample points on my background image to monitor changes as I make adjustments.  When I used Photoshop CS2 on my previous laptop which had Windows XP as its OS,changes were instant.
I have the cache level set at 6 in Preferences with 70% available RAM set.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    A couple more ideas:
Make sure CS2 is fully updated. In Vista, turn the Aero interface on and off to see if it makes a difference.
Try the old standby of resetting preferences, as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Get it off my machine! CS2 and windows 7

i have read with interest on these forums all of the naive and stupid mistakes i made trying to install CS2 on to my new windows 7 machine (lenovo)., the funny thing is that 6 months before it did it without a hitch on my lapotop (also a lenovo). anyway, i made the usual mistake of trying to install it to an "Adobe" folder. the problem was and is the damn thing wont uninstall. i used Revo Unistaller which seemed to remove some items and i mannually deleted all of the files and folders i can find. (inthe faint hope that it would matter).  When i now try to re-install CS2 with the fixes outlined as to how to do it, the disks/setup still says i have CS2 components installed  outside the suite and whty wpnt let me install anything. do i have to go int the registry? not something i am happy about. is there a cleaner for CS2 out there? the only one i found was for CS3 and above

The clean scripts didn't exist at the time, because the installer worked differently. What did exist just the same as today is the caps.db and you need to delete that in C.\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\caps.

  • Re CS2 and Windows 7

I've bought a new computer and have been trying to install CS2 on my new Widows7 machine, I've deactivated from my old machine and after installing and activating the software on the new one, when I go to run the software it tells me I have an invalid licence. I've tried numerous times and have the same result everytime.

CS2 is totally unsupported under Windows 7 and my guess is that you have a 64 bit version to boot which makes it even more complicated.
My advice: take advantage of the 20% discount and upgrade now: http://amzn.to/oeApSa

  • CS2 and Windows 7 64bit

Okay, I have gotten all except for the bridge and acrobat to work on my new computer, by installing to a desktop folder instead of the program files. Now, Neither the Acrobat nor Bridge will open as the program is not recognizing my serial number. Does anyone have a workaround? Thanks, Dr. Robert

Option 2 here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4715553 seems to work:
Copy the installer to your local drive. Right click Setup.exe, Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this in compatibility mode. Choose XP SP2. Click OK. Run Setup.exe
And yes, you can download and install them, see:

There is still ongoing discussion whether anyone is entitled to install it, or only users with a valid license, but it seems Adobe does not care.

  • Install CS2 on Windows 7 32bit and 64bit, please help!

I own a legitmate CS2 Creative Suite and my old Windows XP computer must be retired. Is there any way for a non-technical person like me to install CS2 on Windows 7 64bit? I saw some instructions but they seem geared to very computer knowledgable people and I got lost just reading them. Also, I saw new that CS2 was or is being offered fro FREE from Adobe? Is that true?
OR, will CS2 as a 32bit application be more easily installed on Windows 7 32bit without any special install instructions?
Thank to alll who can help this pathetically technically challenged person! I can NOT afford to upgrade CS2.

  • Up and Down Arrow Keys Not Functioning in CS2 for Windows

A little over 6 months ago I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Windows XP and installed it on my work PC and my home PC. Everything works fine and dandy on my work PC, however when I try to do some editting on my home PC there are some quirks that I can't figure out. The main thing is that my Up/Down Arrow Keys do absolutely nothing. Whether I am trying to edit text and scroll through my fonts or if I'm trying to nudge a part of a picture, the Arrow keys do nothing.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    >but that's beside the point.
it's not. what you describe is typical behavior of a high quality cracked version that's been floating around. a great copy with shrink wrap, nice manuals, etc. but you've been burned. usually the discs are stamped "made in singapore".
try to get your money back.

  • Will CS2 (InDesign & Photoshop) work on either/both Windows 7 pro and Windows 8?

I have CS2 and years ago used Photoshop and InDesign for making books. I would like to use it again for the same purpose.
Will it work on either (or both) Windows 7pro and/or Windows 8?
My computer died and I need a new one. If my older programs won't work at all on Windows 7 pro or Windows 8; then I would like to shift to Apple computer.
However if they will still work on the newer operating systems (either 7 pro or 8) then I would buy a PC so I could use my CS2 still.
I appreciate any ideas, opinions or experiences that can help me to decide which computer would help me best.
Restating; if they won't work on the newer PCs then I'll get an Mac. If they will work on newer PC then I'll get a PC.

I believe I have CS2 running on my Win7 Pro x64 desktop system (might be through the XP mode virtual machine, though), but I can't recall the last time I tried to use it.
That said, your old installers will not work because the CS2 activation servers have long since been shut down. See Adobe - CS2 Downloads

  • Will CS2 and CS3 install on a Windows 8 machine?

I use a combination of CS2 and CS3 software and will need to get a new machine soon. I see below that someone got DW MX2004 to install on a Windows 7 machine. Is it possible that CS2 and CS3 will install on a Windows 8 machine?

    Hi Paevo,
Try installing in the compatibility mode.
