CS2 automatically fit row height to content in table?

Hi guys, I'm using CS2 and I have a table with lots of pages. I need to be able to have the height automatically fit to the content of the tables. Unfortunately data is not consistent therefore some cells have 2 rows of content, others 8.
Automatically fit to content is not available.
I have tried adjusting row heights then 'table' > 'distribute rows evenly' but obviously this is no good as some are too cluttered, others too spacious.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Huh. Maybe I read the OP's posts correctly, I think, but I misread yours. I assumed that, since the thread-opener mentioned row height, that when the OP asked about getting rid of "distribute evenly" that row height was still under discussion. Looks to me like all you can do with cell width/column width is
1) Select a column and specify an exact width
2) Select a group of columns and specify the same exact width for all of 'em
3) Select all the columns and
    a) Distribute columns evenly
    b) Specify an exact width for all columns
Unfortunately, I have to use tables a great deal, so I feel like I'm up to speed on what we can and cannot do with ID tables.

  • Problems with Automatic Adjust row height in FRs ver. 11.1.2.1.103

    Hi
    We have just upgraded to 11.1.2.1.103 from 9.3.3.
    .103
    We had a fairly complex report that worked in the previous environment, but not anymore.
    We have a number of text lines with that pulls from other lines in the report that are hidden.
    It is celltext that we are reporting on.
    The lines are setup, so the row height should just adjust depending on the amount of text, but it does no longer work for consecutive lines with the adjust row hight atribute swithed on. I now have to insert blank text lines with a fixed height in between to get it to work.
    It makes the report the report look messy, so has anyone had similar issues and know a work around or a possible patch.

  • Increase row height of a configurable table

    Dear SCN members,
    This is related to a configurable table realized using <chtmlb:configTable>. Please let me know about the following possibilities with this:
    1. Is it possible to increase the row height of this table?
    2. The content of a given cell is truncated with three dots and the complete content is visible on the tooltip if the context exceeds the column width. But is it possible to see the complete content of such cells on the table itself with some kind of wrapping rather than just on the tooltip?
    Thanks!

    It is not directly possible, however with iterator and use of text area, it is possible to display longer texts on a table.

    Even I gave row height 3 inches in Table properties but still it is showing around 7 inches height at run time.
    Could you please any body suggest to over come this problem.

  • Financial Reporting 9.3.1 automatically change the height of the row

    How can I make the reports generator automatically change the height of the row if the text does not fit into the cell? I tried different PDF generators (AFPL Ghostscript 8.51, Adobe Acrobat Distiller 6.0) but result was the same: http://sql.ru/forum/actualfile.aspx?id=6396177

    Hi,
    In HFR if you are not allowing expansion on the row or column, it wont expand itself according text length.
    So you need to anticipate the row hight and width according to your need. You can define this in the property sheet.
    Thanks,
    aly

  • When I change the row heights in a spreadsheet, then save, close, and open it, the row heights are back to default. How can I prevent this?

    One of our reports has lots of text in some rows. I import the data, adjust the row width and ask the text to wrap, which automatically sets the row height appropriately. When I save, close, and open that spreadsheet, the width is still the same and Wrap is still selected, but the rows are only one line high, which means that the report is unreadable and a serious pain to make readable.
    I can save it as a PDF, but I'd rather be able to use the Numbers format or Excel and be confident that my recipients can read it.

    Hi k,
    I'm unable to reproduce the described behaviour.
    The document containing the table below has a combination of row heights set manually using teh stepper in the Table Inspector (both 0.76" labeled rows), set manually by dragging the row boundary between row reference tabs (labeled 1/13"), and set automatically by Numbers to fit the content of the remaining cells.
    Content in the rows with names beginning E, F, G or H wraps automatically to form two rows in the cell. The rest are forced into two lines using a carriage return character.
    All maiintained their row heights through two Saves and reopenings.

  • Different row heights in one table - is this possible?

    I want the height of each row in a table to be set to fit the contents of that particular row.
    The column which drives the cell height uses the cell formatting options "Wrap Text" and "Row by Row Auto Fit". These options will set the row height of all rows to that which fits the tallest cell. What I prefer is to have one row height be 4, if that's all it needs, while the next row may have a height of 32 because of a long line of wrapped text.
    Can this be done with DeskI XI 3.1?

    In BO XIR3.1 the row height does not appear to be based on individual rows. Instead the row height is the same for each row in the table. Is there some setting that I need to adjust here?

    Thanks a lot for your response.
    I've tried your proposal, but it has no affect. The report cells show all their content using as much lines as necessary for this.This is the default behaviour for HTML table data (tables and cells expand to fit their content).
    So I still have rows with lots of lines and rows with only a few lines mixed in my IR dependant on the cell content. Because some rows filling nearly the whole screen, it is difficult to get an overview with regard to adjacent rows.
    I'm using Application Express 4.1.1.00.23. with Theme 21. Scarlet and Firefox 17.0.1.Are all users using Firefox?
    Actually I'm working on my first APEX Solution for usage in my company and the customers demanding a solution for this topic . So I'm very keen to find a solution.
    I'm very much looking forward to your response.I've been involved with similar issues in the past. My first response is simple: Does this data have to be shown in the report? Can the offending column(s) be removed from the primary report? They will still be visible in the single row view, and the detail view if there is one.
    The second option is to create a detail view for the report with a structure that is better suited to the data involved, and make this the default view. (For an example of this, see the treatment of the PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION column in the detail view of the Products report in the Sample Database Application: click on the View Detail button on the Products page.)
    The third possibility is some kind of customization of the presentation of the data. This will involve using some combination of HTML/CSS/Dynamic Actions/Plug-ins/JavaScript that you may not be familiar with: do you have experience of these? To go down that route you need to describe in detail how you want to present the data, or what behaviour is required when the data is too long, and share an example of the report on apex.oracle.com that we can work with.

  • Automatically resize the height

    Hi!
    I am trying to bild an application where I have a list of
    items aligned vertically (Like a 1-column TileList or List).
    The problem is: I am using 2 states in my custom ItemRenderer
    to expand the information, whcih also expands the height.
    But when I do that with a TileList or List the height of the
    row is not expanded correspondingly. Thats why right now I am using
    a mx:Grid or a mx:Panel. Here it is no problem, the following items
    simply get moved down or up when I open or close items.
    But I have 2 problems now: How can I get alternating
    background colors? How can I select one item completly like in a
    TileList, List or Datagrid.
    I also played with the datagrid but here it is the same. The
    row height does not adopt dynamically to the chaning content. How
    can I achieve that?
    Or would an mx:Tree be the better solution? How can I use
    custom itemrenderers with trees? I only need 2 levels (1: TITEL,
    2:CUSTOM RENDERER).

    Hi.
    I found out something: There is no "real" limitation. But if
    the content has not set any height it is set to something around
    250px.
    I also ussed your code for testing and simply increased the
    number of items in the list so that it can not fit in any more (
    http://weblogs.macromedia.com/pent/archives/2006/04/a_list_itemrend.cfm).
    There I have the same behaviour.
    But if I set the height of the List containing the car models
    manually, e.g. to 400 the main List row has the right size.
    So all I need now is to know how I can set the height of the
    list containing yoru car models to the "perfect" height to match
    ALL the content. Then the main row should adapt correctly...

  • Dynamic row heights for NSTableView

    Hi everyone,
    I just began writing OSX apps not too long ago. I'm having trouble with dynamically setting my row heights for an NSTableView. I've seen a really old solution where the subclass the view but I also found a solution posted by Corbin on Stack Overflow. However, I don't quite understand and am hoping someone has sample code?
    For my usecase, I have a list of text of varying lengths and are displayed in a multi-line text field. The rows for the table cut off the text and so I'm trying to resize them to fit the text. When I check on the setRowSizeStyle to custom - it defaults to 71 and is fixed at 71. I hope someone can help me out. I think the solution posted by Corbin should solve my problem but I have no idea how to implement it.
    Thanks

    Etresoft, the function that you gave me for some reason constantly calculates the height as 39. Minus the fudge factor of 25 means I'm constantly getting 14 for my height for all rows and some of the text is cut off. I think it might be because I'm passing in the wrong size into my NSTextContainer.
    Here's my code right now:
    - (CGFloat)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView heightOfRow:(NSInteger)row
        Message *message = [thread objectAtIndex:row];
        NSTableColumn *tableColoumn = [conversationView
                                       tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"tableColumn"];
        if (tableColoumn)
            NSCell *dataCell = [tableColoumn dataCell];
            [dataCell setWraps:YES];
            [dataCell setStringValue:message.message];
            CGFloat height = [self calculateIdealHeightForSize:[dataCell cellSize] content:message.message];
            NSLog(@"Message: %@ Height: %f", message.message, height);
            return height;
        NSLog(@"No size found. Returning default size for 100.");
        return 100;
    - (CGFloat) calculateIdealHeightForSize: (NSSize) size content: (NSString *) content
        NSTextStorage * storage =
        [[NSTextStorage alloc] initWithAttributedString:[[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString: content ]];
        NSTextContainer * container =
        [[NSTextContainer alloc] initWithContainerSize: size];
        NSLayoutManager * manager = [[NSLayoutManager alloc] init];
        [manager addTextContainer: container];
        [storage addLayoutManager: manager];
        [manager glyphRangeForTextContainer: container];
        NSRect idealRect = [manager usedRectForTextContainer: container];
        // Include a fudge factor.
        return idealRect.size.height + 25;

  • TableView Row Height constraint

    Currently each row in table view stretches it's height to fit the largest item in the row.
    Is there a way to force a constraint on this height so it doesn't get out of hand for large content?
    I want it to act like old JTAble and just do a "..." when the content gets too long.

    I tried to add a cell factory and setMaxHeight but that doesn't seem to work. Row Height prints as 0.0. There was a suggestion at some point to remove the NEWLINE separators, but some of these lines represent stack traces... no good to try and read that in one single line.
    This is how I've tried to implement the cellfactory. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong

  • Dynamically adjust table row height based on data in column

    Hi all,
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 and have a requirement for a table to adjust the height of its rows depending on the data in the columns. One of the columns in the table is a rich text description field and I have the 'rows' property set to 13. This field could have twenty lines of text/images or just one. The users would like the page to show all twenty lines of text without having to scroll but the table has the same height for all the rows (that I set to 13) and provides a scroll bar when the data exceeds this size. My users do not like to scroll, and want the height of each row to be determined by the data in it. I looked at a few options and also did a search online, but was unable to find anything to fulfill this requirement. Do you know of how I could change the height of each row in the table so that it fits the data that it holds?
    I have an example of my table at: <b>Table with Set Row Height</b>
    As you see, the picture has to be scrolled so that the whole picture is visible. The user requirement is to adjust the row height to show the full picture. Ideally the next two rows would shrink, but that would be a nice to have.
    Thanks in advance for any pointers or help.

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for replying to my question, I truly appreciate your help.
    I tried to use the autoHeightRows to adjust the height of my rows but was unsuccessful. If I understand the autoHeightRows property correctly, this is used for setting the height of the whole table. If this is incorrect and it can be used for setting the height of individual rows in the table, please correct me. I have the 'Rows' property of the richTextEditor set to 13 and this is the height that I would like to make dynamic based on the data.
    My users requirement is for the height to be big enough for the data in each row of the table (the table has a description column and the height of each row should be determined by the data contained in it). I updated my <u><b>Screen Shot</b></u> to show the desired layout and what is currently being generated though ADF (http://www.flickr.com/photos/87583386@N05/) .
    I have three rows in the example (in actuality these are around 50) and the text in each row can vary. The users would like to see the full text/image in each row without having to scroll each row. Currently my table is within Panel Box, which is inside a PanelGroupLayout-Scroll which is in a PanelStretchLayout. I tried to put the table by itself with the autoHeightRow modifications you suggested but thsi did not help either. I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
    Is this possible with an ADF Table? If it is, is the autoHeight property the only one that I am setting incorrectly? If not, is there another component I can use to get the desired functionality? My users are very strict about this requirement and will not accept the application without this.
    Thanks,

  • Table row height adjustment

    I am attempting to insert a table to create an online
    business directory for my city. When I enter the table, it allows
    me to set my number of columns and rows, as well as the table
    width. However, it automatically sets the row height to 240 pixels.
    When I try to change the row height to something more reasonable,
    it gives me this error message:
    "Making this change would require changing code that is
    locked by a template or translator. The change will be discarded."
    Which I assume means something I did when creating my
    template for my website locked this in, but I have no idea what I
    did or how to fix it. Any ideas??
    Thanks so much!!

    That's ok so far. A paragraph sign at the end of a text forces a new line.
    To change that do the following:
    For every condition you need another condition just for the paragraph sign that comes immediately after the condition. Not after every paragraph of one condition, but at the end of every consecutive numbers of paragraphs of the same condition.
    So in your third example you'll need two conditions more:
    1. One for the paragraph sign at the end of condition "meaasurements"
    2. One for the paragraph sign at the end of condition "price 2"
    Whenever you make the other conditions invisible, you also have to turn off the new conditions that only control the paragraph signs.

  • Financial Reporting auto row height

    Hello,
    I'm trying to build report using Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio. And i need to define row height automatically depending on data. Most of my data needs only one-line rows. But some strings (about 5%) are long enough to be double-lined. Therefore I don't want to define big height for all rows. Is it possible?

    Hi Brian,
    yes this can be done if rows are static.
    but in my reports i have only one design row that expand into 1000 of rows.
    I thought of using rownumber (if possible in FR) and then displaying alternate colors depending on whether a row is even or odd but till now i am not able to figure out if it is possible to get the rownum in FR.
