CS2 Bridge RAW files show as icon only

I downloaded RAW files from my Nikon D700 to CS2 and Bridge only displays the RAW icon, not the thumbnail.  I did this same thing 2 weeks ago and before, and the thumbnail does display for those files.  Does anyone know how I can remedy this?
Thanks in advance,
Charlie

Curt,
I tried to attach the image both as an MS Word doc and a PDF and I get the message that "content of this type of image is not allowed."  What format does the Adobe forum allow?

  • Raw files show as icons in bridge

I recently upgraded from cs5 to cs6, I have downloaded upgrades for photoshop, bridge, camera raw, and adobe dng converter.
My problem is that the raw dng, and raf raw files from my fuji x-e1 camera  are showing up in bridge as icons only, and not as thumbnails. How do I get the files to show as thumbnails. if I double click they will open in camera raw and i can see the pic there.

  • Photoshop Elements 5.0, 1 in 10 RAW files show broken

I have PS Elements 5.0 running on Vista Home Premium. I am shooting with a Sony Alpha 100 and the RAW files are .ARW. Approximately 1 in 10 of my RAW files show an end-of-file error. I've not yet update the firmware (should I need to?), but I have had a friend open up the same files in CS3 no problem. I have tried new memory sticks, used my laptop with the same Elements licence and I'm still having problems. It comes up with a greyed out box. If I delete the files from the HD and reinstall them, the same ones show up as broken, so it's something specific to these files. They open okay in the Sony RAW editor that came with the camera. What to do!?

  • Raw files showing only as icons in bridge

This is a recent problem for me.  The raw files in question are ".pef" files from a Pentax k100d that I've had for quite some time.
I started having a problem with Bridge crashing on me.  In trying to solve that problem, I started Bridge by holding down the crtl key and choosing the three option to reset preferences and purge cache.  Since doing this, all my thumbnails have disappeared and I can't get them back.  I've read and found the appropriate locations for the camera raw plugins:
I am running 64 bit Vista. I have CS4 and found that the latest version of Camera Raw that I could install was version 5.7.  I found the install instructions on the Adobe site.  As it told me to do, I downloaded the zip file for version 5.7 and extracted.  I moved the Camera Raw.8bi file from the top directory into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats and moved the Camera Raw.8bi file from the Win64 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats.
I also found the 5.7 Camera Raw installer and ran that.  I am still having the same problem.
I have spent the better part of two days googling and trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.
I've tried moving all my cache files and letting them regenerate.  I've purged the cache several times.  Nothing I do works.
I do notice that when I go to a directory of photos that I have not been to in a while, I see the thumbnail for a brief moment.  It quickly disappears and the flower icon appears.
Do I need to re-install Bridge?  Do I have to uninstall first?  I can't do that separate from Photoshop can I?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried all of those options: Prefer Embedded, High Quality on Demand, Always High Quality with every combination of Generate 100% previews.  Still nothing
I searched for all the instances of the camera raw file and it found 4 versions of the file 2 associated with CS4 and 2 associated with Photoshop Elements that I used a couple of years ago.

  • RAW files show icons for some folders, thumbs for others

I have CS3, on OS 10.5, and use a Nikon D90. I've taken lots of pics in RAW format and all have shown a thumbnail in Bridge. Until the most recent set of pics I saved to my HD....they only show the RAW icon. What is going on with that? How can I make it show thumbs? Thanks

Is there a setting on my camera (Nikon D90) or in Bridge I may have tripped up
    that
    doesn't save a thumbnail?
Can't think of such a setting.
Could you specify if you have done some updates recently. There are a lot of
issues with Bridge CS3 and CS4 and CS5 are a lot better and much much more
    stable.
However it seems to me that it is ACR related. Could you look at the specs
for this. In Photoshop go to the menu Photoshop/about plug in and choose
Camera Raw. Inhere there should only be one Camera Raw and it should say
    version 4.6.
Could you report back on that?
And can you also check if you can see thumbs from Tiff, PSD or Jpeg files?

  • Can I filter out jpgs so only RAW files show?

I have my photos organized in folders like this:
    Photos
    --2007
    ----Family
    ------02-19_Picnic
    --------JPGs
    ------02-20_Stuff
    --------JPGs
    etc.
When I import everything into Lightroom and I just want to see the images from the 02-19_Picnic folder, it's showing me both the raw files and jpegs. Is there any way to only see what's in that main folder and not its root?

You can do it two ways: (BTW, I think you meant to say "main folder and not its subfolder")
    1) Click on 02-19_Picnic, this displays all files in that folder and subfolders. Next Cmd-click (I think that's Ctrl-click on Wintel) within the Metabrowser panel, on Raw [under File Type] - if your raws are DNG, then choose DNG. That performs an intersection and thus shows only the Raws. If you again Cmd-click on Raw and then on Jpeg, you get just the jpegs.
    2) Click on 02-19_Picnic, this displays all files in that and subfolders. Next, in Find, check "Any Text", and enter "dng", "cr2" or whatever your raw's extension name is. That again displays files in the picnic folder and subfolders that include the raw name somewhere in the metadata (including the file name).

  • Nikon NEF raw files show up in Bridge as "Untagged RGB"

I have a D700 and shoot in the AdobeRGB color space. However when I click on a picture in Bridge, the Metadata window shows "Untagged RGB". Why is Bridge showing inaccurate file information, and, I assume, not interpreting and displaying the picture with correct colors?

    Charles,
Raw files don't have colorspaces so the "Untagged" is essentially correct in that case. You select the colorspace when the raw file is developed, such as in Adobe Camera Raw.
Now, both Nikon and Canon allow colorspace to be selected in-camera and they will use this colorspace if Jpegs are being created.
In the case of raw files from the camera, I believe that the PC/Mac software provided by both manufacturers (Capture NX2 for Nikon?) will pick up a special flag from the file to set the default colorspace for the developed raw file to what was selected in camera. I am not sure about this though. Adobe Camera Raw, however, ignores those flags if they exist. In ACR, it will default to the colorspace last used for raw developing.

  • Corrupted RAW files show in Bridge but not Photoshop?

    Hi,
I have recovered some RAW files that were accidently deleted but most of them are corrupt in windows explorer (using recuva).  Adobe Bridge can see them but nothing else will open the files (or see them).  I really need to edit these files, any help would be appreciated.  I'm on win7 64 bit.  with adobe bridge cs 5.

What type of RAW files are we talking about, NEF,CR2 or other?
Bridge is just a flle browser, and RAW files are opened and edited in Adobe Camera Raw.  Do you just get a thumbnail, but it willl not open in ACR?
Does ACR work with other RAW images that have not been corrupted.
Do you have a backup (highly recommended) of these images somewhere?  Should be on seperate physical drive or on a DVD.

  • Imported raw files show as jpg

Since updating to Lightroom2 (currently 2.6), whenever I import a RAW file from iPhoto - selecting to leave the photo in it's original location - it shows as a .jpg file once it is imported into Lightroom 2.  With Lightroom 1 it would import as a RAW file.  Is there a setting I need to select to keep Lightroom from automatically converting my RAW files to JPG on import?

Thanks for your help. It worked as you suggested except the corresponding jpg file that was made by the camera is imported into Lightroom along with the RAW file. Unfortunately, my Canon 400D will not shoot RAW files only, you have to have a large size JPEG along with it which is a waste of file space, but nothing that can be done to shoot RAW only.  So at the very least I can import RAW files as you suggest and then delete the JPEG. As far as iPhoto goes, I've been using it for many years and like it a lot.  I find it easier and more intuitive than Lightroom's organizational tools.  Lightroom is an exceptional tool for printing or prepping a final image for electronic distribution and that's how I use it. In short, I use each application for what it does best.  I only color correct, print or publish less than 1 or 2% of the thousands of images I shoot. Thanks again for solving this mystery!

  • I purchase 1 apple tv from dubai, but after connect apple tv in my tv display showing two icons only-COMPUTERS and SETTING

WHEN CONNECTING APPLE TV ONLY SHOWING 2 ICONS  THAT IS SETTING AND COMPUTER,HOW CAN I GET THE OTHER ICONS LIKE PHOTOS,MOVIES,YOUTUBE ,HULUPLUS ETC..

AppleTV needs a working network connection to the Internet since it streams all its content from the Internet.  If you are only seeing those two icons it is not able to connect to the Internet.  Do you have a network cable attached to it?  Or did you enter your WiFi info into it?
NOTE:  While WiFi is a supported connection option Wired is a MUCH better more reliable way to connect since streaming video is not tolerant of network interruptions.

  • Why do G3 raw files show as "Unsupported Image Format" in Aperture?

I am moving towards shooting in raw, and as an experiment I imported some sample raw files from the publicly available text images on the Photography Blog. When I try to look at these images, I get a black screen with a warning triangle and the message "Unsupported Image Format". This happens for all the different raws, including some G3 raw files (.rw2). Oddly, it can read the EXIF metadata and has all the information about shooting settings etc. If I import the same files into iPhoto, it displays the images properly and allows editing, etc.
I have a workaround, which I've also tried with my Fuji X10 raws (still not supported on MacOSX), of running them through the Adobe DNG converter, and then looking at the dng files which seem to work fine. But it's a pain.
This has to be one of those simple "D'oh" things, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong!

Thanks Leonie, the second part revealed that I have been an idiot, although the behaviour is still surprising. The folder has a mix of DMC-G3 raws, Fuji X10 raws, and DNG files produced from both. For the Fuji X10 files, the DNGs produce images and the raws produce the "Unsupported file format" message. The latter is not surprising, the former a little surprising (as I've heard that DNGs only work when the associated raw works). The last two remarks don't directly address my problem (or perceived problem), but they perhaps set the frame for my expectations.
For the G3 files, when I look at it more closely, the G3 raws DO display correctly, while the G3 DNGs give "Unsupported file format". I had managed to fool myself into thinking it was the other way round (Aperture does rather hide the full file name).
So I was completely wrong, Aperture does support DMC-G3 raw, it's just it's DNG support that's a bit weird. However, it's on my side if I need to use X10 raws (via the DNG step). In fact so far I've given up the latter, as the noise levels are so much greater than in Fuji's in-camera JPEG conversion.
So, thanks very much for your help. Now I remember the first rule of system support: never trust what the customer tells you! (I know you're not really customer support, but I guess the same rule applies.) Thanks again

  • RAW files showing up grainy in Photoshop

Just recently when I open RAW files in Photoshop they've been appearing with a LOT of noise, but in Camera RAW, or windows photo viewer they look fine. I think I messed up a setting somewhere in Photoshop. Any ideas?

It only started recently - but the grainy .nef file in Photoshop can be saved as a .jpeg, the .jpeg will look grainy in photoshop still, but when opened in any other viewer, the grain/noise is gone. I tried opening up photos (both .jpeg and .nef) shot in the past few months, that before last week would display fine in PS, and they now too are grainy/noisy. They appear fine in other viewers.
Photos taken from a cheaper camera appear fine though.

  • CS2 inputting RAW files

I've been told there is no plug-in for CS2 so that I can input RAW files directly into Photoshop, and that I must upgrade to CS5. Is this true?

I appreciate taking time to answer me.
I use a Canon Xti, Canon 40D, a Nikon D300, and a Sony Alpha 55. Canon 40D is my main concern.
Well, now I see that Camera Raw 3.7 does not support any one of these except Canon Xti. So, this version might not be an option. I could try later versions, but CS2 might/might not accept them
I did download Adobe DNG Converter, and converted a RAW image to DNG, and then loaded it into Photoshop CS2. So, that’s one solution.
The Canon Support tech suggested that I use Canon Digital Photo Professional to convert from RAW to TIFF and then load it into Photoshop, claiming this is a lossless process. Maybe, maybe not. I did that also.
The goal is to create a PSD file which I can edit in Photoshop CS2 and then output in JPEG for the user.
I’ll just have to compare using TIFF and DNG and see which produces the best image.
Thanks so much for your help,
    Pete Ward

  • Why are .RAW files showing as black video?

I've been editing broadcast spots using .RAW files from the Canon 5D and they have been working beautifully.  Now on the day they are due to the stations everything is showing up as just black screens.  Even in the Media Browser the files are there but there is nothing when I playback.

I have exactly the same problem, on a MacBook Pro after having upgraded from 10.4.x to 10.5.0.
I did a clean install of Leopard on an external firewire disk, and there it was all ok.
Then I phoned Apple support about it. The issue was new to them, but advised me to make a clean install and then migrate my old users from a backup image. I went through this time consuming procedure and, unfortunately, found the problem persisting. So I will do it again but before migration I will check if those files are correctly recognized (forgot to do that last time). Since I was advised by Apple not to migrate the network related data i will do so this time.
Of course, I'd like an easy fix much better!
Update to 10.5.1 did NOT help.
