CS2- CS4 upgrade, copy print presets?

I recently upgraded to IDCS4 from IDCS2. While this may not have been the "preferred" method, I installed CS4,then uninstalled CS2. It seems the CS2 "Print Presets" didn't make the upgrade trip.
Can anyone suggest where I might locate my CS2 Print Presets, and (ideally) be able to import them into CS4?
thanks in advance,
Mike

In CS2 you would need to go to File>Print Presets>Define and save the file as a .prst, then load that file into CS4.
I'm afraid that if you haven't saved them from CS2 then they are most likely lost. Perhaps someone knows a sneaky file they reside in?

  • Solved Copying Printer presets to other users

I want to copy printer presets across to all users.
I tried the suggestion as per this thread
    Copying printer presets
But in Mavericks it does not work.  I have tried multiple times..deleting old plists, log gin out and back in again ..checking and comparing permissions etc..no joy
The prefs files are there, but deleting the old, and copying the plist to other users then doing a print, the Presets do not appear, even when the "Show Presets' button is clicked.
Wonder if any one has managed this yet with mavericks
    Thanks
    Edit:
A log out is not enough ...needs a full shutdown and re boot

Look for the com.apple.print.custompresets.plist file in /<home>/Library/Preferences/
    Hope this helps.

  • Copying Printer Presets to new user

I have several presets that I have defined and saved for my printer in Tiger - Economy - B&W, Economy - Color, Photo draft, Photo HQ, etc.
I just created my wife her own user and would like to copy these presets to it, as apposed to recreating them, but I can't figure out what file they are saved in.
Can someone tell me what preference file or other file to copy over to my wife's user from mine?
This is an HP 6840 printer.

Look for the com.apple.print.custompresets.plist file in /<home>/Library/Preferences/
    Hope this helps.

  • Can CS4 import printing presets from CS3?

I found the preset folder in the CS3 folder but nothing in there were caller printer presets.  I see presets for workspace, swatches, and many other things but not printing.  We just upgraded here and I have about 20-30 presets that I REALLY do not want to have to recreate from scratch again!

    Yes
    You open up CS3
    File>Print Presets
    Select the Preset and SAVE
    Open up CS4
    File>Print Presets
    Select Load
    Find Saved file
    Done

  • Printed manuals with CS4 upgrade from Adobe?

If I order Production Premium CS4 UPGRADE from Adobe (I now have CS3 ProPre); are there printed hard-copy manuals? And if so, how many?
    Thanks.

There are no printed manuals included with any version of the software.
I believe there are pdf files on the DVDs which are basically a subset
of what is available in the help files. There are installed helpfiles
and internet based help files. The internet based helpfiles are the most
comprehensive and up-to-date. In the past printed manuals were made
    available for a fee.

  • Photoshop CS2 Upgrade to CS4 Upgrade with CS4 trial version

    Hello,
today I bought the PS CS4 Upgrade (Win). The shipping will take 7 days so I asked myself if it is possible to upgrade my "CS2 Upgrade version" (from PS 6 full version) to CS4 by using the trail version.
    Dear Forum,
do you have a step by step guidance about that issue?
    Thanks!

Theoretically you should be able to do it, but I would advise against it because there are so many installation problems reported, especially with trials.
You have waited since September for CS4, so hang on for another 7 days and install the upgrade direct from the DVDs.

  • Photoshop CS2 Education to CS4 Upgrade?

I have Photoshop CS2 Education edition. Would I be able to buy the Regular CS4 Upgrade without any problems?

"There's no such thing as an educational-price upgrade, but your education version qualifies for the regular upgrade. "
www.studica.com sells educational versions of software. The cost for an enrolled university student is equivalent to the commercial upgrade for PS CS4 - so there is no gain by a previous PS owner in purchasing an educational version - other than to have two independent versions of PS.

  • Issues installing CS4 upgrade from CS2?

    Hello,
I recently had to replace my hard drive on my Mac and am now in the process of installing CS4 Design Premium. I've downloaded the files from the Adobe website and when attempting to install I enter in my CS4 upgrade serial number and it is accepted. However, when it asks for the upgrade check there is no CS2 option in the product drop down box for me to enter in my CS2 serial number. How do I continue with the installation and get my CS4 working again?
    Thanks,
    Maggie

  • Installing CS2 so I can install cs4 upgrade on windows 7

I just got a new pc has windows 7 pro OS and need to install my adobe CS. I have CS2 with a CS4 upgrade.  As you can probably guess i am having trouble getting the cs to install. I would like to upgrade to cs 5.5 but if I cant get the cs 2 on to upgrade to cs 4 I doubt i can get a cs5.5 upgrade installed!   I have tried installing cs2 a couple times and keep getting the serial number screen.  When I uninstalled it I had to deactivate it so it would seem that it was acttive just unusable. I will try running the cs4 uopgrade in thje AM but was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a waste of my time or is there actually a way to get this installed and working properly.  any help is greatly appreciated.

I bought it from Adobe. Full upgrade price. It was about 3 years ago -
about. I wanted a backup in case Freehand tanked. Kept using FHmx and
forgot I even had CS4. So FHmx tanked Friday and I can't get it to show
the toolbars. So, I'll  install CS4 and work all weekend on this rush
job. I'm on a Mac. OsX.6.8. Also on Aleve until I get this solved!

Acrobat on OSX does not use printer preset. Every single time I have to print I have to click printer and then print to load the preset and then click print again from the main dialog. I am printing to a Xerox that has the copier code in the preset so if I don't do this it will not print. This has been broken for in every version I have tried. This extra clicks are taking years off my life. Did I remember to do the extra clicks? I don't know, I guess I will run down the hall and check. Please fix this.

What operating system are you running? I assume they had you install the latest BIOS. True? If it were mine, I would suggest forcing it to use integrated graphics (in the BIOS) to rule out a problem with the NVidia driver.

  • CS4 Upgrades work from CS2?

This is a followup to my question about CS2 on Leopard.
When I look at the CS4 upgrades, they all say "from CS3". Will they also work from CS2?
Is this what the reference to "tiered pricing" was about?

As Buko says, don't buy the CS3 to CS4 upgrade. There is a separate CS and CS2 upgrade which you must purchase.
The price is the same as the CS3 to CS4 upgrade until the end of April.

  • Print presets from CS3 to CS4

Is it possible to install the CS3 print presets on CS4 so I don't have to recreate them?   Anyone know where they would be?  I'm on Windows Vista.  I don't see them in the Presets folder (hm).
    Thanks, Phyllis

You have to go into CS3 and open the preset "define" dialog. Select the ones you want, then save to an external file. In the same dialog in CS4 pick "load" and find your saved file.

  • Snow Leopard CS2 - InDesign crashes on print

    Hello!
I am hoping some one can send me in the right direction in figuring this out. I have googled this problem until my fingers are sore and have yet to see anyone with this issue. I have gone through the many many documents about not being able to export to pdf and have followed all of those directions hoping that maybe there was some correlation - still nothing.
So what's happening is we open a standard document create either text or regular box then click file print and get the crash (Problem report from InDesign below)
we can print repeatedly with only a box on the page. sometimes it will allow us to view the print preset dialogue and some times it will almost allow us to create a new print preset.
it gets REALLY buggy when you click the text tool - some times as soon as you click the tool it crashes and sometimes when you click the page. The below Problem report from InDesign was from printing with text on the page.
This is a fresh install and software update to 10.6.5, fresh install of CS2 and I have not added any fonts, this also happened before the OS upgrade. Photoshop and Illustrator seem to work and do not even stutter when printing, This is only happening in InDesign. After trying to read through the badly labeled post on here I saw one almost similar post about a printing error and there was no help offered.
I have read many times that CS2 should not run with snow leopard and have seen just as many post that CS2 does run with snow leopard. If by chance you can please offer ANY advice or support it would be greatly appreciated! We are a fairly small publishing company and this software is our only option.
    Thank you in advance!!!

I can work in CS2 Indesign on my iMac running 10.6.5 with no clichés (so far), but like this thread, InDesign crashes and shuts down when attempting to print.
However, I have no problem making any type of pdf from InDesign, and my PDF's print without any problems. So, for now, I work in InDesign, and when I need to print, I make a PDF of my document and then print it. I know it's a pain, but for now, it's all I can do to keep using CS2.
I realize the solution is updating to a CS package that will run flawlessly with 10.6. (anyone have a few hundred dollars to give to this worthy cause?).
But if anyone out there figures out a way to print from Indesign CS 2 on 10.6, please let me know. My actual needs are minimal, so CS2 does all I really need it to do for now . . . if you don't count that I can't print from it. Ha ha . . . not funny.
This is an update on my progress to resolve my problem (it's now two hours later than the text in this post above). I had a copy of InDesign CS 3 that I never installed. I decided to give it a try so I installed it. It installed with no problems and I updated it using the InDesigns update feature.
I can now print with no problems using the print dialog box from within InDesign. However, my specific print features from my brother printer dialog box won't function. All said, I rarely use those features so it seems I now have a copy of InDesign (CS 3) on OS 10.6.5 printing adequately, provided I only use the print dialog box from within InDesign CS3, which suites me fine.
    Good luck everyone.
