CS2 Illustrator Problem

I will be working on a project in ai SC2, go to save my work and the program just goes off, turns off with out saving anything I have done up to that point.
I try to save my work ever 10 mins. or so but it is a pain having to go back and re-do everthing you did up to that point.
Any suggestions to what is causing it ( it just started ) and what can I do to fix it.

You may try to Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option+Shift during startup or, with Illy closed Move the folder.
The former is easier, the latter is more throrough and reversible so you may avoid losing any settings if it does not work.

Flash CS3 / Illustrator CS2 Heritage Problem

Does anyone know if there are any heritage problems that
occour when you open an CS2 Illustrator file in Flash CS3?
Someone told me certain effects dont appear (i.e. gradients)
or that that image wont move as it's supposed to.
I have CS2 Illustrator & I want to purchase CS3 flash,
but I'm not sure if there would be a problem while importing my CS2

I have encounterd the same problems. ( illustrator,flash, indesign not working)
I did almost every thing I could think of: clear Caches, Prefs, and run CS3 clean script before reinstallation.
I also had the latest Version CUE updates 3.0.1 (downloaded the FixVCUIFramework).
But nothing above helped :( , apps still crashed right after launch.
*Then, I remembered having installed this thing called "Application Enhancer" right before the apps starting to crash. SO I REMOVED IT, and haunted down all the remaining files, trashing them all.
Next I went into the SAFE MODE (so the system clears up some caches)
After that I also DISABLED the USER FONTS when I login to the normal mode.
And my CS3 apps WORKS AGAIN !!! :)
I'm not sure which one of the above steps really solved the problem...
All I knew was that none of them could work out the problem alone.

CS2 Illustrator Crashing

Something strange happened to my CS2 Illustrator on my mac today. The program crashed and now I every time I try to open any AI file it crashes as it tries to open it, every file crashes the program. I thought it was corrupted so I reinstalled the program but the problem still persists. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I would like to try to reinstall Illustrator again but is there a proper way to reinstall and remove all the existing preferences in the process...if that's what's causing it to crash.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Best to deactivate use the uninstaller I do not recall if it is in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installer folder or in the Illustrator Folder.
There should be a check box to remove the preferences folder and serial number as well. Even after that you should go to User/Username/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS 2 Settings and trash the Adobe Illustrator CS 2 Settings folder as well as the com.adobe.illustrator.plist file also in your users preferences.
Then search in the same usersm Library directory of any Cache files associated with Illustrator as well as Application Support folders but only for Adobe Illustrator.
then restart the computer ...oh wait I don't know if you ar on a Mac or Windows system this is for a Mac system.
If you have a Mac after restarting the computer repair the pernissions then reinstall Illustrator CS 2 you have to tell us something about your system.
Allof this would be the same for Windows except where al of this would be located is another story so if you are on a Windows Jacob or Mylenium or Scott or other will have to assist you further.

Use eps files in a 2' x 6' banner designed in CS2 Illustrator.

I have two eps files (logos) I'd like to use in a 2' x 6' banner. The rest of the banner will use text. How can I incorporate these eps files? I'm using CS2 Illustrator. Thanks for your help.

If the .eps artwork is vector, there should be no resolution issue (depending on possible raster effects/images contained).
You can see whether it is raster or vector when you select (an embedded version of) it. Vector will appear as other vector artwork.
Is Anti-Aliased ticked in the Edit>Preferences>General?
Concerning the pixelation/usability, you may judge by using different zoom levels.
You may ask the recipient about resolution.

InDesign CS2 Printing Problems

I teach in a Mac computer Lab (mac OS X) and InDesign CS2 is a huge headache for me; my students can't print their work half the time. I read online a lot of member posts about InDesign CS2 printing problems. Would a CS3 upgrade help?

CS3 upgrades are no longer available now that CS4 is out!
Perhaps if you described your particular problems, members of this forum could assist you. Note however, that CS2 was not supported on MacOS X 10.5 (Leopard).

Problem installing CS2 Illustrator onto non HFS disk

I am activating Illustrator CS2 onto a new computer with the special code, but I cannot locate a disk to install it on. I get this:

CS2 is an end of life product, we have taken it off from our server, however to assist our esteemed users, we have provided a link mentioned below, you have follow the link & download it from here. Use the serial number provided adjacent to the product. It will not ask for activation.

CS2 Installation problems with Illustrator

My company recently got me a new computer and they transferred my CS2 programs from my old computer to my new computer. Everything was working fine on my old computer in Illustrator, but on my new computer, when I open Illustrator, it opens as normal, but then all the functions at the top of the screen File...Edit...Object...Type... are grayed out and I can't access anything. I am unable to open any AI files as well. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but nothing seems to work. I tried calling Adobe by phone and they wouldn't help because I have CS2 and nothing newer. Please let me know what I can do to help resolve this as most of my work is done in Illustrator. Thank you!

The program was installed correctly. I am not sure which graphics card and screen resolution it is. But a co-worker has the exact same computer and her CS2 works perfectly fine. Also, the other programs in the Suite including Photoshop and InDesign work just fine, it is just Illustrator that doesn't open and work. I do not use a tablet.

Cs2 loading problem

I reinstalled cs2 after my laptop crashed, now when I open illustrator it exits immediatly with out warning. It does not give any errors, it just closes within 2 seconds of opening. Any ideas on fixing this problem?

The preferences may be corrupt even when you first install, so you may start by trying to Move the folder
If that does not help, there may be a number of other issues, which you may test (some are unlikely, unless you have installed other things before Illy or they need updates):
1. Corrupt font(s): you may move all fonts out of the Windows fonts folder (and move them back in);
2. Firewall interference (especially if more than one is running (XP SP2 adds one if activated)): you may turn them off (and on again);
3. Some versions of Acrobat generate many temp files. Too many (64K) causes the problem: you may search and destroy Temp files;
4. Some other inconsistency caused by Adobe Acrobat/Reader: you may try uninstalling and reinstalling (a newer version).
5. Incompatible/old printer definition file for the default printer: you may upgrade the driver, change the default, or set the PostScript driver/PDF to default;
6. Using a US/English version of Illustrator with Windows set to a different language: you may enter Control Panel>Regional and Language Setteings and change to English (and change back).
7. Quicktime/iTunes: uninstall Quicktime and make sure the Quicktime folder is deleted in the Program Files folder; and/or uninstall iTunes.
If neither of these possible solutions work, have you made any (other) changes to the PC between succes and failure? New software loaded?

CS2: Illustrator doc into Microsoft word doc

Ok heres the problem. I have created a letter head in Illustrator CS2. My client wants the letterhead to be in Word so that they can type on it and print it out themselves, not have stationary made.
I have tried exporting it into a pdf and making the pdf into a word document and it gets all screwed up.
Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Export it as a PNG file and insert the PNG into Word.

Cs2 illustrator werid splash screen

hello!
i posted this in another forum but didn't get a response.
i just installed cs2 on my new mbp, ive heard a lot of problems that mbp has with cs2.
so far everything works okay, but i realize that when i open illustrator, right before the splash screen when the flower appears, a white box appears on the screen for about a second and disappears, this is bugging me because i don't know what is wrong, does anyone have a similar problem?
i saw in adobe site and heard something about rosetta, would it be that it was opening or runnig rosetta before it opens?

Illustrator always runs under Rosetta, as it's an PPC only app., not Intel.

Photoshop cs2 v9 problem

I am a new member who could do with some help and advice with the following problem after installing cs2 on my computer everything works fine for a period of time but then when I try to open the program it tells me that the owners name and serial number cannot be found and the program shuts down
If I reinstall the program everything works fine again but after aperiod of time it happens again I checked through the adobe site and found that this also happens with elements 4 and what to do to cure it but nothing for cs2 any advice please

I would call tech support. Maybe get a virus scanner for your system.

Adobe Premiere CS2 Export Problem.

I'm running Adobe premiere CS2 on a windows XP machine, and I'm having trouble exporting are Sunday services. I'm encoding them into Adobe with a Matrox RT. Here's my problem, I can export the message part of the service fine which is about 20 to 30 minutes long. But one are trying to export the entire thing worship and the message. It gets to about 3000 to 4000 frames and stops. If you click cancel the whole thing locks up and you have to restart the computer. If I try rendering the same thing again it stops but it doesn't stop in the same place. I have three gigs of RAM and 2 dual Xeon 1.8 gig processors in PC. And more than enough hard drive space. Does anybody have any idea on what's going on how I can fix it.

Photoshop CS2 launch problem

Most of the time I attempt to launch Photoshop CS2 it fails. I have to try 2 or 3 times before it's successful.
I've put a new alias in my dock and still have the same problem. It's ok when I double click on the icon in the application folder.
I've repaired permissions and disc and it still happens.
There are some times when it works ok, but mostly it doesn't.
If any suggestion is to re-install the application, do I just install over the old app or do I have to delete the old app before the new installation?
Has anyone any advice as to what the problem could be?

Sometimes preference files can get corrptped and perhaps that is the issue with your Photoshop CS 2 software. Locate this file or one that looks similar: com.adobephotoshopcs2.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Locate that file from the Preferences folder, drag it to the Desktop. Try to launch Photoshop. If it functions as it should, drag that bad .plist file to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. It's ok to delete a pref file as Photoshop will create a new clean one the next time you launch Photoshop. You will have to reset your Photoshop preferences, but that's one sure fire way to correct a bad pref file.
If that doesn't help... same path... locate this file: com.apple.recentitems.plist Same routine... see if that helps.
And, always, when applications are stubborn... run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities menu.
