CS2 incompatible with mac OS 10.8

I migrated CS2 from a mac running 10.7 to a new mac running 10.8. I can't open the applications now, becasue an error message tells me that power pc applications are no longer supported. What do I need to do?

  • I was trying to move iphoto library to my external hardrive, realised it was incompatible with Mac.  The iphoto will not open now, message is "Iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable".  I have read other posts.

    Hi,
I was trying to save a copy of my iphoto library by copying images to my external harddrive.  I wasn't sure how to do it, realised the hard drive is not compatible. Now the iphoto library wont open and reads "iphoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable".
I have tried to use options command and click on iphoto then rebuild yet nothing happens and same error message occurs.
I have gone to  my personal drive, desktop, iphoto library, and found file Albumdata.xml and when i click on it, there is a lot of text in it, i am assuming these are all my photos.
I have tried clicking and dragging this file to iphoto app and it doesn't work, as the same error comes up in iphoto being in use or unreadable....
What am I meant to do with albumdata.xml file and how do I reopen Iphoto from here on in?
Please help as I am not technically minded and still trying to understand how to use the Macbook at all as I am used to Microsoft.
    Thank you very much,
    KS

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • HP scan incompatible with Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)?

A number of people seem to be having scan problems after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.  Me too.
Working with LaserJet Pro 300 color MFP M375 nw.
I want to use HP Scan from my iMac, connected to the LaserJet, to scan from that printer/scanner to my iMac (to thedesktop), as I've done a thousand times.
When I try, the appearance in the HP Scan window is all as usual.  But when I "send to folder," the .jpeg (or .pdf or .tif) that arrives on the desktop is (1) distorted and (2) partial.
NOTE: If I use the 'General Purpose' setting, no distortion - but with that setting I can't get 300 ppi, which is what I want.
I can also get a *sort of* result with the 3D setting.
However, the 'Documents with text' setting - the one I have always used - gives the same distored/chopped result no matter what variations I introduce.
There do not seem to be any software upgrades from Apple.
I can't find anything on the HP site for downloads to deal with the Mavericks OS.
Is something in the works from HP?  How will we know about it?
    Thanks.

    Hi Everyone,
There have been numerous reports of an HP Scan incompatibility on Mavericks.  Please be assured that we are looking into this issue and hope to have a resolution soon.
At this time here is what we've observed:
    * On many Macs (not all), images scanned in Black & White or Grayscale will not save properly.  The preview looks fine, but the output will be cropped and distorted.
    * This issue is new for Mavericks.  Previous OS versions are not impacted.
Here are some known workarounds that may help you until this is properly resolved:
    * Use Image Capture to scan.  Image Capture can be found in the Applications folder.  This scanning application does not appear to be affected by the file saving issues.
    * Use the HP Scan Print dialog to save the output to PDF using one of the PDF workflow options.
    * Use the "General Purpose" scanning preset.  This preset scans in color and so output is not affected.
    * Change the settings for the "Documents with Text" preset to scan in full color.   You can also create a new preset based on the "Documents with Text" set for color if you plan to use these settings regularly.  Note that if you are not planning to process the documents for text extraction (OCR) then you can lower the scan resolution to 200 ppi to keep the file sizes more manageable since color scans can be much larger than grayscale or black & white.
I will try to provide more details as they emerge.  Thanks for everyone who has shared observations about their experience and configuration as this continues to be very helpful in tracking down root cause for this issue.

  • Error Msg says Firefox 4.0 "incompatible" with Mac OS 10.4.11?

Just downloaded 4.o and it will not launch. I deleted 3.6.16. so now: no Firefox. Advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • HP Color LaserJet 2840 Incompatible with MAC OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

The printer defaults to "pause" when attempting to print. Clicking "resume printing" does not unpause the printer. I spent one hour with Apple tech support yesterday with no resolution.
I removed the printer from System Prefs, then reinstalled, but that did not resolve the issue.
HP tech support advised designating "Generic PostScript Printer" in the Print Using box when then adding the printer, but it still defaults to "Pause" when attempting to print anything.
No problems with the Canon Pixma.
    Advice would be much appreciated.

Upon upgrading to Snow Leopard, I could print but could not scan. Deleted all existing printers that pointed to my CLJ 2840. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the 10.5 drivers resulted in a dialog box that stated there was a problem installing /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
The printer was not automatically found, and could not be manually added via HP Setup Utility. I decided to fix the problem with the kernel extension (kext).
I opened a terminal and ran the command
    sudo kextutil /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
which informed me that there were problems with the permissions on that kernel extension. I then ran the commands
    cd /System/Library/Extensions
    sudo chown -R root:wheel hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
    sudo chmod -R g-w,a-w hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
and then rebooted and that seemed to do the trick.
The only thing that doesn't work now is the Fax fuctionality. the URL for the fax is set to "file:///dev/null", which doesn't seem productive at all. I'll post when I discover anything there.

  • Is iTunes 11 incompatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8?

I've had iTunes 11 on my iMac for about 2 days and have had to use force quit or meat ax shutdown and reboot several times since.  I usually do a repair permissions after such a debacle.  Everything works fine for a few minutes or hours and then ........  Last night I plugged in my iPhone 4S which is set to automatically open iTunes.  This morning I found the iPhone fully charged but iTunes had never opened.  When I tried opening iTunes, I got a spinning wheel of color and an unresponsive iTunes.  Sent myriad crash reports to Apple.
Anyone know what is going on?
It is ironic that there is a thread about people concerned about the delayed release of iTunes 11 with comments about whether people preferred a buggy and timely release or a later, presumable bug-free, release?  It does not appear to me that iTunes 11 was adequately debugged ... or there is something that is not a bug in it, such as a fundamental incompatibility with OS X.

That's a Windows only application AFAIK.

  • Java incompatible with Mac's new Yosemite OS for Creative Suite Products

    I own a MacBook Pro
    My serial number is:
    C1MHCBV5DV13
I updated to Yosemite this weekend. When I tried to open my InDesign CS5.5 and Photoshop CS5.5 I was told
I needed to download a new version of Java. I was sent to Apple’s website and I downloaded these two files.
    JavaForOSX@)!$-001.dmg.part
    (Goes to an email setup)
    JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg
gets me a: JavaForOSX2014-001  Image not recognized
Apple says I need to ask you for help.
    Bob Spear

Go here: Java for OS X 2014-001
Click download, it's a 63 MB dmg and the only file you should have after the download is finished.
Double-click on it and you should see the installer.
I just did this on a mid-2009 Yosemite white macbook

  • ID CS2 compatible with Leopard?

What's the official word on CS2 compatibility with Mac OS X Leopard? What about CS3?

Exactly where are people getting the info that Tiger won't boot on the new machines? From what I've read, it may be possible to run 10.4 on them still--you would just have to clone across from your old machine to your new machine. I am certainly not *advocating* such an action, I am simply clarifying that it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility if you get desperate enough...
Regardless of what OS you end up running, if you are on an Intel Mac, I would seriously recommend you bump up to CS3 as soon as possible. CS2 is not great fun to run on Intel Macs. It is probably going to feel slightly more sluggish than your 1.8ghz--I find it is similar to running approximately a 1ghz G4 in terms of GUI interaction.
Printing speeds are more like the speed of a G5. Well, unless you try and print an EPS the Rosetta engine doesn't like. In that case, be prepared to go hunting for a G5 or converting some EPS files, because a recalcitrant EPS simply can't be printed in some edge cases.

  • WRT600N not working with Mac OS X - Please help

I previously had a WRT54G and it was working fine (until it died) with my MacBook Pro laptop. I just replaced it with a WRT600N and the MacBook Pro is no longer seeing either of the two wireless networks being transmitted by that new router. However, when I boot the MacBook Pro in Windows Vista through BootCamp it sees the networks with no problem. Is the WRT600N incompatible with Mac OS? If so, is there or will there be a patch soon (and where can I find it)?  I also have a WRT300N running and it is being seen just fine by both the Mac and WIndows sides of the MacBook Pro. The problem is only with the WRT600N and the Mac OS. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Try using WPA2 Personal - AES encryption, that is the only config that worked with my older WRTG54? router and a new macbook.

  • Are there certain external Hard Drive cases that aren't compatible with Mac

I have a new 160gb Hitachi hard drive and connected it to a Vantec NexStar usb 2.0 hard drive case (borrowed from a friend).
Disk Utility sees the external disk...however, whenever I try to Erase or Partition, the Disk Utility hangs. In Activity Monitor, it shows up as "not responding". I even left it over night to see if it recovers itself but no luck. I've tried the MacOS Extended (journaled), MacOS Extended, and MS-DOS types.
I'm wondering if this case is incompatible with Macs? I would prefer a case that has firewire though...so I might just buy a new case to try?
Has anyone run into something similiar?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the idea...not sure why I didn't try that.
My new iMac recognized the drive immediately and asked if I wanted to initialize it. Took about 2 minutes. When I connected it to my MBP, it saw it right away...
I'm still not sure why the MBP couldn't initialize the drive when I tried...
Oh well, important thing is..it's working now..and I've backed up my iTunes and iPhoto libraries.
    Thanks again!
