i have been using illustrator 10 & CS5 photoshop trial version fine on my windows vista (illustrator for 2 yrs on this computer). i got CS2 so i uninstalled both programs before installing the CS2. after installing i never got a finished window & it just closed. when i tried to open illustrator & indesign it closed as soon as it finished opening. photoshop did ask for registration info & then shut down/closed as well. i tired to uninstall from program/features in control panel but it doesn't work, it doesn't prompt me to do anything so adobe help had me install the windows installer clean up utility to remove programs not installed correctly. they are still not uninstalled & when i tried to reinstall the 1st cd gets to initializing & then stops. i now have removed all the adobe folders from my c drive & still cannot remove. i need to reinstall - HELP!!!! thankyou.

+it's essentially telling me I'm not the administrator when not only am I, but I'm the ONLY user on this computer+
Your sig says XPS. I assume that means XP. Your permissions must be corrupt in the registry, even though you are on an admin account. I got this same error when I upgraded my laptop to XP SP3. I had to run a tool from microsoft to fix it.
Scroll down to the advanced troubleshooting section on this page and run the subinacl stuff. I went and watched a movie while it ran - just be patient.

    Hi,
I got stuck in a similar loop this AM with my Twist.  Finally fixed it by letting all apps update.  Have you tried that yet?
I don't think "system update" is intended for Idea machines.  Do you mean "smart update" or were you really offered System Update for your laptop?

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

I pulled my brains out trying to figure this bug out and I may have a solution for you.
All of it installed fine in my desktop, but a friend's laptop got the error you mentioned on quicktime, itunes, flash, officeXP and about anything else I tried to load for him.
If you look in: C:\documents and settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp there will be an iTunes install log...open it in Notepad and see if it isn't exiting with a 1619 error while running msiexec.exe
If this is the case, this fix should work for you.
Seems some configurations of XP (and possibly Vista) aren't allowing full administrator rights to the account you set up when you installed XP (even though User Editor says you do have those rights.)
I read 2 MS articles and turned off simple file sharing, then gave ownership of the entire C: drive to the administrator. Logged the admin account off, logged his "admin" account in, and then gave rights to his personal directory to his account (c:\docs and settings\<username>)
Once I did that, every install that had previously errored out performed flawlessly.
    The MS articles in question:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316309 (1619 error)
    and
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308419 (how to set special permissions)
    Hope this helps!

  • Install Adobe Premier Elements 9 results in Windows Installer window pop up

Installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 fine.  When installing Adobe Premier Elements 9, the installation fails during 'Configuring Windows Installer' and a pop up window appears with the title 'Windows Installer'.  What do I need to do to get this software installed?

You need at least 30GB (or better, 60GB) free defragmented space for PRE9 to work. Do you have this? You may have been on the borderline during install and your first project, so when you rendered your project, or restarted the machine, (possibly Windows creating a system restore point) your free space dropped below the limit.
Can you also confirm that you didn't install any new software between the saving and opening of your project.
Here are some general points you should work through to maximise your chances of success
    Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.8 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Run Disk Cleanup.
    Run Defragmenter.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clip and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started

  • Can't install Safari 4...problem with windows installer?

I recently tried updating my Safari browser to v4 but I keep getting the "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
I came across this thread that offers a solution (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9580878#9580878 ), however, I don't know how to edit the registry keys by deleting all "applesoftwareupdate" associated keys as the solution suggests. I wouldn't like to mess up my PC by deleting the wrong keys!
Any help in the stepwise process of deleting these keys?

    Have you tried this?
Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs => Apple Software Update => Change => Repair

  • Cannot uninstall network printers, Windows 8.1

    Hello,
The problem I am having is regarding printers that have already been uninstalled from both of my laptops that were formerly networked together. Neither laptop has any HP printers or drivers on it any longer, and they are no longer connected via network.
I am running Windows 8.1 on my new laptop; and Windows 7 on my old laptop.
I've followed numerous techniques to attempt to remove these printers from showing up in my "Devices and Printers" menu; but nothing has been permanent.
    I have:
    1. Uninstalled all software.
    2. Made sure there were not any remaining print jobs (emptied the folder in (C:/Windows/System 32/Spool/Printers)
    3. Removed the drivers from the registry (as admin).
Yet, even after performing all of these steps, the following printers show up as being live on the network (which isn't even turned on!):
    HP Officejet 4300 Series
    HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m
    HP03AE15 (HP Officejet 6500 E709n)
When I uninstalled the priters and removed them from the menu they temporarily disappeared; but when I rebooted the machine, they showed up again!
Any help to remove these permanently would be greatly appreciated, as this is causing serious malfunction of my Adobe software programs.
    Thanks in advance!
    -PM

    Hi,
No, there wasn't any error message when I removed the printers. All three of them had been gone, and then reappeared even after I emptied the print queue folder. No drivers are installed.
When I left click the printer once, properties is what shows up at the bottom so I clicked on
    Devices & Printers>Properties>HP Officejet 4300 Series>Hardware
....and there isn't anything listed at all.
At the very bottom of the larger window, it says:
    State: Network Connected
    Model: HP Officejet 4300 Series
    Category: Printer
Even though there isn't any network connected any longer.
I followed your instructions to open the network sharing center; however there is not a choice anywhere that says "Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices."  But, since I couldn't do that; I made sure that all the check boxes were deselected for any type of networking whatsoever (it was already set this way), and the printers are all showing up; and all of them are saying "Network Connected." I even made sure that my other computer has all of its sharing capabilities disabled; and I removed the homegroup connection entirely. As I said, I'd uninstalled the printers from that machine first; but it is the printers from that machine that are showing up on this one. So all sharing is "off" , all "networking" is off; there is no more "homegroup" so I really don't know why they are there and that it says the network is connected.
Thank you very much for helping me with this, I really appreciate it! Is there anything else you can think of?
    -PM
P.S. I just wanted to add that I have checked the machine the printers were originally installed on and they are not showing up on that computer at all.

  • Installing Parallels when Boot Camp already running Windows

I'm considering installing Parallels on my MacBook Pro, which I already have partitioned with a drive running Windows using Boot Camp. What I need to know is, do I need to eliminate the partition with Boot Camp and if so, will I have to completely reinstall Windows and all my Windows software? I don't want to waste the partition that's dedicated to the virtual drive, rather I'd prefer to have the entire hard drive available to MAC. I really want to have parallels, as it's easier for me to be able to work on Windows and MAC applications at the same time, without having to stop-shut down-restart each time.

Parallels can use your existing Boot Camp partition for the VM, if that's what you're asking. However, if you want to have all one partition (without the Boot Camp one), then yes, you'll have to reinstall Windows when you install Parallels, unless there's some way to "import" your Boot Camp" setup that I don't know about.

  • [Solved] Installing on a hd that already has windows 7 and sabayon

    currently it looks like this:
    /dev/sda1 ntfs systerm reserved 100mb
    /dev/sda2 ntfs 40gb (windows 7 installed)
    /dev/sda3 ext4 / / 40gb (sabayon)
    /dev/sda4 extended 218.93gb
    /dev/sda5 linuxswap 2gb
    /dev/sda6 ntfs storage 216.93gb
I tired to install archlinux with just a / partition and tried to reuse my swap....... failed miserably
after that I recreated my ntfs partition and tinkered with arch in virtual box till I got a little comfortable working with it.
Now I want to delete my sda6 partition and repartition for arch.
would I need to make like:
    sda6: /boot (bootable)
    then sda7 /root
    and sda8 /home ????
Im not sure what I need to do...... because I should be able to use my grub I already have and just re autodetect........ should see arch after its installed I would think
    in sabayon I would use:
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    grub2-install /dev/sda
would love to get it running on its own instead of having to use virtual box.
I tried to look around and didnt find much info on what I was looking for.
    thanks.

+I do get a missing .msi messages when trying to uninstall.+
Okay. That's usually problems with your installation configuration information.
    Let's try the following procedure.
First, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. If it goes, good. If it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to iTunes, Apple Software Update and Apple Mobile Device Support.
Next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility.
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Once you've installed it, use it to clear any existing iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC. Launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover program files.
    (1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files folder.
    (3) Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (4) Right-click the Apple Software Update folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (5) Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. (Note: This folder may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
    (6) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue. (Note: These files may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
    (7) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
    (8) Restart your computer.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? If so, reboot the PC again and try launching iTunes. Does it launch properly this time?
