CS2 Invalid serial number message

I just purchased a new computer. I am trying to install the CS2 premium on the new system, which replaces use of my old system entirely. When I attempt to enter the serial number, I get a message saying it is invalid. I am the only user and this is the only computer I will be using this software on.
Please advise on what I should do to install/activate this software.

Oh, boy...thank you all so much for this solution. It worked for me too...on Win7.
I bought CS2 shortly before Vista came out, intending to use it on my XP desktop.  Poor thing died before I got it installed and it was several weeks before I could afford to replace it. When I did, there was no way to even buy something that wasn't Vista...which pissed me off at Microsoft.  Then I found out that CS2 wouldn't play nice with Vista and fraking Adobe KNEW it and refused to support it. REALLY?
I bought this program for A CRAPLOAD of money...for me, anyhow...BOUGHT, not hacked.  I expected support.  I got jack.
Then Win7 came out and I was finding that some of my older software was able to run just fine on it.  I thought I'd give the stupid CS2 that I had paid a bucketful of money for and never gotten to use once a try on it.  Only to come up with this idiotic error message. The support guy said the usual, "Old product, not tested, isn't supported, blah, blah, blah."  But oh, hey, I still have an activation left on it! Oh, joy! Since I have never used the fraking thing, I would hope so!
I would like to beat Microsoft, then Adobe and then Microsoft again...til both of them exsanguinate.  Jerks. Nothing but bullies. They both need their arses whooped.  Bah. Better yet...they both need to be sued for selling software and operating systems that don't play together.
BUT!  Thank you to you folks who are out there helping for free. Go figure. The "support" guy coulda told me this, but he had to stick to the company line of NONsupport.

Crashed my hard drive. Went to my Adobe account and pulled up my Products list. Downloaded CS5 and input the serial number in my Products list. Everything went fine. Downloaded Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and input the serial number in my Products list. Got "invalid serial number" message.
What's the story? What do I do now?

  • When installing CS5 Design Stanard I get an "invalid serial number" message. How do I check to see if the SN

This is very frustrating! I can't get my program (CS5 Design standard) to load. I had a computer crash, and I get an "Invalid Serial Number" message every time. I'm using the same serial number that came with the program. What do I do next? I get sent into a loop of Q & A's whenever I ask a question. I have never seen a website with so many links before. Someone said to debug the SN#, but I can't find the link to debug. HELP!!!

When I click on the link I just gave you, this is what I see:
Your last message was ambiguous about whether you had actually talked to Web Chat.
I've been told that Web Chat is handled from the US time zones so if you're in a different part of the world, you may have to accommodate that.
Serial number issues cannot be handled in a forum because (obviously), you're communicating a serial number which would  be broadcast to the entire internet. Also, few Adobe employees are on most of the forums. There are NO Adobe employees on this forum.

  • Photoshop CS2- Invalid Serial Number

I am installing my Adobe Photoshop CS2 on Windows Vista.
When I try to install the program after entering my serial number that is on the CD case,
the program states "Invalid Serial Number."
Customer Service gave me new serial numbers to attempt at fixing this issue and those numbers still yielded an "Invalid Serial Number" error.
Tech Support had me create new accounts with admin rights on my laptop (which didn't work) and then gave me a link
about the issue that had nothing to do with me since I have no VCOM software on my laptop (so that too was bogus).
I requested to speak to a manager where the agent diverted with giving me solutions that did not work also in which
he had me use this registry cleaner software and it still didn't work (I didn't have previous adobe software on my computer,
so it wasn't a surprise that it didn't work)
So... Does anyone know how I can install my program on my laptop without getting an Invalid Serial Number error?????
Maybe regular users have some answers.

I've only had similar happen once, when I upgraded AI over about 3-4 versions. My S/N was from the first PC release, and the internal database in the upgrade did not recognize the format, or the S/N. In that case, a 5 min. call to C/S resulted in a number to enter from Adobe, and then it took my S/N fine.
Obviously, you've gone that route, and it's not working. Seems that things have changed with C/S, but I am talking over a decade ago. Are you talking to C/S (Customer Service), or T/S (Technical Service)? For "sales" related things, I have found that C/S is the better. I am assuming that they are still separate departments, though both might well be in India.
Now, one question, you say that C/S told you to run on one machine with "administrative rights." Did you try as an Administrator? These are similar, but there can be differences.
Wish I had something else to offer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Acrobat 8 3D "invalid serial number" message

I'm getting the message, "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 professional and enter in a valid serial number when asked."
However, the fixes on the Adobe forums for this problem state that it occurs due to Creative Suite 3 (CS3) installations, but I haven't had the CS3 installed on this Windows XP SP2 machine.
I only have standalone InDesign CS3 installed, not the suite. I had the beta standalone IDCS3 installed, and uninstalled it before installing the shipping version.
I had the shipping version of FrameMaker 8 standalone installed. I uninstalled it before installing the beta Technical Communications Suite (TCS). I uninstalled it, restarted Windows XP SP2, then installed the shipping version of TCS, registered it, and authorized it.
With the exception of Acrobat 8 3D, the TCS applications run fine.
I've tried repairing the Acrobat 8 3D component of TCS, and also tried updating to 8.1.1, but no change in the message.
I've only found solutions for the invalid license error that relate to CS3, not TCS.
Before I uninstall TCS, which takes over an hour, and then run the CS3 cleanup script at level 2 - the Adobe knowledgebase recommendation, I'd like to know if this procedure has been successful for anyone who has had the problem, but hadn't installed CS3. I don't want to find out that running the CS3 cleanup script level 2 causes damage because the suite isn't and wasn't installed.
    Has anyone done this?

]Sometimes it feels we're more like the coal-miners canaries...<br /><br />Tweet! Tweet! Cough! Cough! Arrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh!!! .....<G><br /><br />Hi, Arnis:<br /><br />There is some perverse pleasure in stumbling into a near-lethal (or at least crazy-making) situation in beta testing, and solving it as well, for the benefit of others in the community of users we all belong to. If only the bug lists would honor these brave souls by naming the bug discovery after them, as well as identifying them with prosaic bug-database numbers<G>.<br /><br />Your solution was very helpful. Here are some notes that may be helpful to others. I'm also reporting this to the beta program.<br /><br />* Removing TCS with Add/Remove Programs didn't fix it. In addition, somehow, although TCS was removed from the application list in A/R, it seemed to be on my system, even after restarting the computer and Windows! I could launch some of the applications, but because it seemed so uncertain, I didn't want to stop at this point and pray nothing would go wrong later. <br /><br />* I ran Microsoft Install Repair Utility, which seemed not to do much. <br /><br />* I rebooted and reinstalled TCS, but had the same problem with Acrobat 3D, so I figured the cleaning wasn't complete. So I uninstalled it, then ran Microsoft Install Repair again, after which...<br /><br />* I copied a bunch of settings files and third-party scripts and plug-ins from Programs/Application Support/Adobe, and my User/Application Support/Adobe folders for the installed ID CS3, and also zipped the whole installation to preserve any information I might need to recover or information about where things need to go in the directory tree, before uninstalling InDesign CS3 and InCopy CS3. Then I ran the Adobe clean-up script level 2, which ran the Microsoft utility.<br /><br />Just to be "extra careful," I ran the Microsoft utility separately; This time it proposed to remove itself! Must be something to do with having nothing left to clean up? Removing it results in the Adobe cleanup script level 2 reporting that the utility isn't installed, needs to be, and quits. Circles within circles - confusing in its helpful way, or helpful in its confusing way.<br /><br />* I ran the Adobe CS3 Clean Up Script level 2, in the preview mode, to see what it planned to do. It proposed to remove InDesign and InCopy CS3 directories, so I removed them before proceeding. <br /><br />* Finally, ran the CS3 clean up script level 2 for real, rebooted, installed TCS, gave the serial number, and was back in business...almost. <br /><br /> - Applications launched OK, including Acrobat 8 3D, but, attempting to save a FM document as PDF displayed an error that Distiller couldn't run because Acrobat 8 3D wasn't activated (even though the TCS activation was working for all apps in the suite). While I was doing another slow burn because this was a reprise of one of the problems that sent me on this Odyssey hours and days earlier, Lo! and Behold!, Distiller launched, then Acrobat opened to display the PDF. I'm guessing that Acrobat 8 wasn't *running* at the time I did Save As PDF, so the error was an error in detecting Acrobat. Man!<br /><br />* I was going to leave out the part where I mistakenly entered the beta-test serial number when launching the new TCS installation, which was accepted and worked up to the point that the validator closed the application! The only solution was to uninstall, run MS utility for good luck, pray, and reinstall, which was successful. I provided the correct serial number, and am back in business. <br /><br />This is pilot error, but it reveals a bug that should be fixed - the application should not give a green check mark (valid serial) indicator to a timed-out serial number. The serial should be invalid if it is invalid.<br /><br />Another bug is that the option to activate the suite by checking an application in the final screen should not provide check boxes for the three applications - the check boxes should be radio buttons. Checking multiple applications opens each checked application and prompts for validation. Very confusing!!!<br /><br />Hoping that this helps others stay out of trouble, or that this helps them find solutions.<br /><br />Regards,<br /><br />Peter Gold<br />KnowHow ProServices

  • Creative Suite 2--invalid serial number message on Vista

I just got a new computer with Vista (64bit). I successfully installed Creative Suite 2--it accepted my serial number initially--but now when I go to open any of the programs, I get the prompt for name, company, and serial number. Each time, my serial number is rejected as invalid. (I've checked many times, and I'm positive I'm entering the correct serial number.)
I'm fine with purchasing the upgrade to 4, but I'm concerned that I'll buy it and it won't work. I assumed I would need to install 2 on my machine before I could upgrade, which is why I did it--even though I've read about problems running 2 on Vista.
Should I go ahead and get the Creative Suite 4 upgrade--and troubleshoot at that point if I have problems? I'm just worried about losing all that money if it doesn't work!
    Thanks!

The above references XP64 but also applies to Vista 64.
But you do not have to have CS2 installed to upgrade to CS4. Just have the disks and serial number handy. If you do upgrade make sure you install in the default location.

  • Silent Install - Invalid Serial Number Message

I have been attempting to install this product silently for a Corporate environment. Inserting the serial number into Abcpy.ini and then Installing using "msiexec /i components.msi /qb!" works in our virtual test environment. But when installed onto the customers test machine it throws up an error message upon launch saying the serial number is invalid.
This has become an extremely frustating exercise.
    Q. What is being checked that causes the serial number error message? If it is looking for a particular registry key or file - what is that so I can fix it?
The package only works as expected when performing a completely manual install - which is useless for a corporate environment rollout.

There are a couple of things to say about this; the first is that because it's clearly an installation problem, you are entitled to direct Adobe free support to fix it, and the second is an observation. I don't know how relevant it is, but I seem to recall that when you install Audition manually, you can't copy and paste anything into the registration boxes at all - it's as if the functionality has been disabled specifically. How, or even whether, this would affect a silent installation I'm not sure - but it sounds like the sort of thing that might!
I must admit that I'm also slightly intrigued about what a silent rollout does about product activation. Do individual stations have to do this manually?

  • Acrobat 9 Standard reinstall gives invalid serial number message. Serial number starts with 1016.

I am revamping a laptop that was WinXP and making it Win7Pro.  I ditched the 128GB SSD and upgraded to a 256GB SSD.  I maxed out the RAM.  I got Windows and Office installed.  Acrobat 9 was next.
I had pulled the serial number using BelArc Adviser.  he serial number starts with 1016 and has six sets of 4 numbers separated by dashes.
I did the chat and was told that version 9 is too old for them to help me and they pointed me to the forums.  I did some searching but didn't come across anything that seemed to match.
I do not have the installation CD.  This computer is 3-1/2 years old and I've only been the IT guy for 9 months.  I downloaded version 9 from the Adobe download site.
    Any help?
    Thanks,

  • I cannot register photoshop cs4?!  Getting invalid serial number message and I've owned this product since 2010.  Also shows in my products on the adobe website.

Title says it all, and I can actually speak to a person at Adobe to get this cleared up!  I unregistered the photoshop before uninstalling Web premium.

There is only that one number as far as I know. You need to get someone there to help  Adobe Support is far from what it should be.  Having to use Adobe support has never been easy or pleasant.  However they have help me activate Photoshop after a couple disk crashes for there is no way for users to deactivate versions of Photoshop activated on the crashed disk.
I notice your serial is for the Web Premium suite not just Photoshop CS4.  Are you installing the suite or just Photoshop CS4 I have only installed Photoshop myself.  I do not know if there is a difference in installer between Stand alone Photoshop CS4 the Suite Photoshop CS4.
There surly is a difference in size of the downloads,

  • Invalid serial number error message when installing Acrobat 7

I have my original software CD and serial number but understand that I need to use the downloaded program because Adobe no longer supports the activation code required for installing from the disc.  I was under the impression that I was to use the original serial number.  This is what I used when reinstalling my CS2 Photoshop  in the same circumstances.
I downloaded 22001904.exe and ran it but when it gets to the serial number I receive invalid serial number message no matter how I enter the number.  I even tried cutting and pasting from my Adobe profile, since I have registered the program w/ Adobe previously along with other Adobe programs.
Can you advise me how to proceed?
    Sincerely,

no, use the serial number listed on the page where you downloaded acrobat 7, not your acrobat serial number
