CS2 Premium Installation on Win: Invalid Serial Number
Hi, id like to install my old CS2 Premium for Win again. Since installation from CDs doesnt work anymore (activation server down), i downloaded the installation files from http://helpx.adobe.com/de/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life. html and installed these with the provided serial number. Installation completed successfully, but now i experience the following, when opening the suite's programs:
Indesign: Asks me to enter a serial nr, but neither my personal nor the one provided by the download site works.
Photoshop: Quits on startup claiming serialnr is invalid (without asking for one).
Illustrattor opens with a registration form which doesnt work, but after cancelling the ladder, is ready to use.
How can i complete the installation, such that all programs work?
Thanks for your assistance!
Jürg

Installation Problem - Supposed Invalid Serial Number
Two months ago I bought Creative Suite 4 Student Edition online and still have yet to get it working. I must say it has been a painfully frustrating experience and I desperately need it for school. I have logged onto my Adobe online account and gone to the "My Order"'s page where there software download links are located. All 5 components downloaded successfully and the CS4 setup was launched. All CS4 components were successfully installed according to the setup however during the setup process I have never once asked to enter a serial number. Upon succesfull installation, I went into the applications folder and clicked on Adobe Illustrator and low and behold and software setup box opens and asks me to enter my serial number for the product. Naturally I enter the serial number and the setup window claims the serial number is invalid. I have tried installing the CS4 components in both USA English and International English, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I even called Adobe for a new serial number, which they gave me and the new serial number will not even work. Please, please help!
Thanks Sabian.
Tried all as suggested, but to no avail.
Yes, I need to contact Adobe Support to resolve it.

CS2 Installs successfully on Windows 7 but says invalid Serial Number
Hi all,
I just bought a new Dell with Windows 7. When I installed the CS2 Premium software, it accepted my serial number and it also activated the software successfully at the end of installation. When I check my online Adobe account, it shows the activation. It's only when I actually go to use the apps that I get the message that it thinks I have no or an invalid serial number. I'm wondering if Windows 7 is storing the info in a different place or format. Anyone have any suggestions? Adobe no longer supports CS2 and definitely not for Windows 7.
Thanks for your help,
ScottI had same problem. Adobe support (tech support and customer service) are no help. Try this. Deactivate and uninstall the program on your new Windows 7 pc. Then create a new folder on hard drive called " Program Files CS2" or any other name. Do not use the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86) " folder and do not create a folder with () brackets in the folder name.
After installation, program should come up and not even ask you to "Personalize" it with your name and serial number. -
Hi folks,
I am switching from my former pc (win XP) to a new one (Win 8.1).
As I wanted to move my acrobat 8 installation to the new computer, I did the following right now:
- I deactivated the license (from within acrobat 8) on the old computer
- I uninstalled acrobat 8 on the old computer and restarted it
- I downloaded acrobat 8 from the adobe website on the new computer
- I startet the installation, which asks for the serial number
- I logged in to my acrobat-account and found my serialnumber there
- I checked this serial number with my paper-copies and invoice (bought ion 2007): it's allright
- I typed in the serialnumber / I copied it in from the account / I copied it from the email I recieved in 2007 / I checked it twice and more:
The installation-tool says 'invalid serial number' - although I am very sure, it's the right one.
I cant go further.
What is going wrong or am I doing wrong?
thanx for your helpHi crunchycrisp,
First of all i wont suggest you to install Acrobat 8 on windows 8. This version of application has never been tested on Windows 8.
You may upgrade to the latest version of Acrobat.

Invalid serial number CS2 Photoshop upgrade?
mmail@morninmail
invalid serial number when trying to upgrade Photoshop CS2 Harddrive crashed, trying to reload. Could not unlock. In all your responses not once did you give the actual error message it displayed. Was it "Invalid Serial Number"? If so, in what dialog did it display that message? Maybe even a screen grab would be helpful to show it.
I know you've been around the block with support, and they're really the ones you're supposed to be able to get help from, but if you're going to ask a question here and expect more than sympathy, how about providing:
1. The exact sequence of steps you're going through.
2. What goes wrong.
3. The exact wording of any and all error messages.
4. Info from the Windows logs.
It may be that someone here will recognize a problem they've solved and say something like, "Oh, that problem needs you to use the licensing repair tool" or "you need to run the installer as Administrator" or similar.
At this point you just haven't provided any information about what's wrong.

Photoshop CS2- Invalid Serial Number
I am installing my Adobe Photoshop CS2 on Windows Vista.
When I try to install the program after entering my serial number that is on the CD case,
the program states "Invalid Serial Number."
Customer Service gave me new serial numbers to attempt at fixing this issue and those numbers still yielded an "Invalid Serial Number" error.
Tech Support had me create new accounts with admin rights on my laptop (which didn't work) and then gave me a link
about the issue that had nothing to do with me since I have no VCOM software on my laptop (so that too was bogus).
I requested to speak to a manager where the agent diverted with giving me solutions that did not work also in which
he had me use this registry cleaner software and it still didn't work (I didn't have previous adobe software on my computer,
so it wasn't a surprise that it didn't work)
So... Does anyone know how I can install my program on my laptop without getting an Invalid Serial Number error?????
Maybe regular users have some answers.I've only had similar happen once, when I upgraded AI over about 3-4 versions. My S/N was from the first PC release, and the internal database in the upgrade did not recognize the format, or the S/N. In that case, a 5 min. call to C/S resulted in a number to enter from Adobe, and then it took my S/N fine.
Obviously, you've gone that route, and it's not working. Seems that things have changed with C/S, but I am talking over a decade ago. Are you talking to C/S (Customer Service), or T/S (Technical Service)? For "sales" related things, I have found that C/S is the better. I am assuming that they are still separate departments, though both might well be in India.
Now, one question, you say that C/S told you to run on one machine with "administrative rights." Did you try as an Administrator? These are similar, but there can be differences.
Wish I had something else to offer.
Good luck,

I deactivated Acrobat 9 Pro from a Windows 8 laptop and installed it on a new Windows 8 laptop and got the error message "Invalid Serial Number." I am entitled to this installation, can someone help?
I see that the number in my Adobe Account is a MAC serial number – I purchased both the Mac and Windows versions of the program. I tried to enter the serial number of the Windows version into my account and it says it’s already registered. But when I installed the Windows version on a Windows computer I got the invalid serial number message. They have two different serial numbers! Can you help me with this?

Any Invalid Serial Number Installation Issue With PSE 12 - PE 12 Windows or Mac ?
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5711110#5711110
Today I went from Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 tryouts to the purchased boxed versions that came with two installation discs. One of the discs was for Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 Windows and the other for these versions on Mac.
On Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit desktop computer, I was hit with Invalid Serial Number for the installation of Photoshop Elements 12 which I did first. Tried 4X, double and triple checking to make sure this was not "user error". It was not. On the 5th try, the purchased serial number was accepted and the installation went to a successful completion.
Tonight a friend alerted me to reports of similar happening for a lot of Photoshop Elements 12 Mac users. See the link posted at the top of my post.
At no time did I see this problem with Premiere Elements 12 installation from the same disc as for Photoshop Elements 12 installation.
Afterward, I installed these programs with the same installation disc on my laptop computer Windows 8 64 bit, I did not have any problems with either installation.
At this time, I do not know if this Invalid Serial Number is elusive to Photoshop Elements 12 or not.
If anyone is experiencing this problem with Premiere Elements, please let us know.
From the link above, it would appear that Adobe is working on the issue.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
In my case, I had the network firewalls and anti-virus disabled when I did the installs of Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit as well as Windows 8 64 bit.
I was fortunate in that a 5th try of the serial number entry for the Photoshop Elements 12 install on Windows 7 64 bit was successful, so I did not have to do the computer restart and retry of the install with the purchased serial number. But, good to keep in mind, just in case.
It is ironic...last time around I got caught up in the Shared Technologies issues with Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 64 bit, not Windows 7 64 bit. But, in that case, I did find my way eventually to a successful install on Windows 8 64 bit. This time around it was Windows 7 64 bit where the glitch occurred, but, for me, only for Photoshop Elements 12.
But, could you clarify...are you generalizing that Photoshop Elements 12 Mac Invalid Serial Number is due to server issues and Invalid Serial Number encountered by Photoshop Elements 12 Windows is "online - due to some firewall or network issues"?
Just getting prepared for if and when more questions on Invalid Serial Number might pop up in this forum.
Thanks.

as my adobe cs 5 master collections keeps having icc profiles and visualization issues, i've tried to reinstall the hole package. my mac book pro dvd reader is broken, so i downloaded from the adobe website a master collection and tried to install it with the serial number i used in the former installation but a error messages says that it's an invalid serial number.
i've already tried to install from the dvd's in another mac and it worked, with the same serial number, so i'm out of solutions.
any thoughts that may help me?Si precisases de qué lugar de Adobe o de otro sitio has descargado....
Suerte. -
I get a pop up window that says Personalize your software and when I put in the serial number it says it is invalid. I haven't changed computers or done anything. I used the program on Wed and then on Friday I went to use it again and that is when it happened.
I have Windows XP and I called Adobe Support got told the same thing as allthe other feeds I have read, they don't support CS2, I use this every month for my job it is only on my computer and we are a non-profit Veterans organization so not a lot of money to be spending on replacing the program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am not very computer literate so it you have any details or help please be specific as to what to do and where to go.
Thanks.
PeggyWe got it from CompUSA a few years ago, it is the full version, only 1 license and only my computer has it on it. The only thing I have done is update it as usual. Nothing on my computer has changed. Just the normal updates.I did update the CS2 also.
I was using it on Wednesday making changes to the newspaper we put out for the next issue and on Friday I get this popup box that says Personalize your Software and it asks for the Serial Number and when I put it in it says Invalid Serial Number. Ialso tried all the Serial Numbers that came with the CS2 I received the same answer to all of them.
No hardware changes. -
On installation, PE7 tells me I have an invalid serial number
I installed it fine on my desktop, but when I try to install on my laptop it tells me my serial number is invalid. Called Adobe and they verified my S/N is a good number. Why is it doing this? My laptop is XP Pro, with SP3 installed. The laptop was reformatted and there is hardly anything installed at this point.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks!!Yes, at one point I did, but I've reformatted the computer since. The cd worked fine on installation on my desktop. But when I try to install the cd on my laptop it tells me I have an invalid serial number.

Invalid Serial Number for CS2??
in 2006 I purchased a cs2. I used it for a couple of years, got out of the industry and then changed my computer. So I am gradually getting back into things, and went to reinstall my cs2. Invalid Serial number. What!!!??? How does a serial number go from valid to invalid? What do I have to do to get things into working order?
Have the disk, can't remember where I bought it. Loading on a windows 7. Warning at activation was just an error code. Talked to Adobe, was told the serial number was invalid, that they could tell me nothing more.
Why would the serial number go from being good to not good? I thought a serial number was a serial number.
