Hello,
I have just gone back to school and would like to reinstall my old CS2 premium software on my brand new IMac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
However it keeps giving me this error:
"You can’t open the application “VCS2 Launchpad Mac” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
Please help!

It means what it says. It's simply not compatible. Apple has long removed any PPC support from OSX.

Your own copy of CS2 will not be able to be activated. You need to acquire a special version that has a special serial number. See the following for more information and to get the installation files.

CS2 Premium Installation on Win: Invalid Serial Number

Hi, id like to install my old CS2 Premium for Win again. Since installation from CDs doesnt work anymore (activation server down), i downloaded the installation files from http://helpx.adobe.com/de/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life. html and installed these with the provided serial number. Installation completed successfully, but now i experience the following, when opening the suite's programs:
Indesign: Asks me to enter a serial nr, but neither my personal nor the one provided by the download site works.
Photoshop: Quits on startup claiming serialnr is invalid (without asking for one).
Illustrattor opens with a registration form which doesnt work, but after cancelling the ladder, is ready to use.
How can i complete the installation, such that all programs work?

Sorry, i'm not very technical...what do you mean by a clean install? Can I upgrade to 10.5.8 on my model of imac? And how do i do this? Do I need to purchase the upgrade?

After recently upgrading my computer's CPU, Memory and Graphics it became necessary to singularly reinstall my Adobe Photoshop (inc. Illustrator & Bridge) since I don't use the other members of the CS2 Premium Suite I made this a custom installation. Everything is working correctly with the exception of my Adobe Activation Warning System.
As you know Adobe no longer supports the CS2 Product you sold me which is your decision regardless of my belief of how good customer service should work. Your Web Site Trouble Shooting Guide states:
Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products.
I did legitimately purchase this product and once again I disagree with Adobe and wish to continue using my CS2 Photoshop, Illustrator & Bridge.
Am I to ignore your Warning System continually as I use my product? Is there another way to peacefully resolve this conflict? or Are you going to make this ugly and insist I buy yet another updated Adobe Product that you will still continue to support (for the time being)? My wish is simply to continue using my Photoshop without threats or problems from Adobe...can you help?

You can keep using CS2 without further cost. It just requires a few steps to remove the activation version and replace it with the non-activation version.
Uninstall your CS2.
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Download the non-activation version of CS2 from the above link. It's valid for CS and CS2 owners.
Install then enter the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing CS2 serial number will no longer work.

CS2 Premium Suite on Mountain Lion

So, I just switched over from Windows to Mac and decided to buy the CS2 Premium Suite. After finding out that the activation service was shut down, I downloaded all of the CS2 Premium Suite files from the Adobe website; however, none of them will run on my computer. Whenever I try to install the files, I get a message that reads, "Adobe CS2 can't be installed on this disk. Installation onto non HFS drive is not supported." Is there any way for me to get CS2 Premium Suite to run on my new Macbook, or am I going to have to spend more money on a different version for Mac? If so, which versions of the CS Suite work for the new Macbooks? Or, which versions of Photoshop work for the new Macbooks? Photoshop is my main priority.

Cs2 won't work on mountain lion (os x 10.8)
Reason: No PowerPC applications are supported on mountain lion and cs2 is a PowerPC application and your mac uses an intel processor.

Probably cs3 through cc will work on mountain lion, although newer ones probably work better.
CS6/CC are the current versions available from adobe.

"Invalid" CS2 Premium serial number

In 2009, I purchased a used Mac G4 from a friend. He also sold me the copy of CS2 Premium (the whole suite) that was installed on it. We did a conference call with Adobe to get the number and the ownership transferred to me, and the software installed on my laptop. The software was activated on my laptop and my name showed up on the splash page. Everything worked fine on both computers. The serial number shows up under my name in My Adobe/My Products.
Last year, I acquired a 2006 iMac. I deactivated and uninstalled CS2 on my laptop so I could install it on the iMac. After I installed it, the activation came back unsuccessful, so I called Adobe. The staff member told me my serial number was invalid. I asked her what she meant by invalid and to explain what the problem was, and she eventually hung up on me. Any idea what I can do to be able to use CS2 again? I'd rather not uninstall and reinstall the download you currently have made available since I have the software on disk. I have a satellite broadband connection that has a daily limit of 200MB.

Thank you both. I guess what I was hoping for was a way to precisely not need activation, at all. As in, a way to use the software that I already have installed and have a serial number for without jumping through extra hoops. Connecting to Adobe with a serial number and getting an OK, maybe? Perhaps there's built-in programming in the disks that prevents that. I guess I'll try downloading, staying up half the night if I have to.
John, this was in the summer, before the announcement that the activator servers were toast. The staffer kept saying it was invalid, and would not explain any further or answer my questions.
A secondary question: I own the original CS with a different serial number. It was an upgrade from Photoshop 7. I tried to install that thinking it would be better than nothing, but it's asking for my Photoshop 7 number! I am not sure where that is, it must be packed away somewhere. We're talking 12-14 years! The number also doesn't show up in My Products, although my Illustrator 10 number does... Why must Adobe make things so difficult for customers who need to hold on to older software? This is out of necessity. Even if I could afford CS6, I don't have a Mac new enough to run it.

lecturer has told me to buy the Adobe CS3 Design Premium Software
package as I would like to be self employed selling my own
websites, my question is: how often will I need to upgrade the
Adobe CS3 Design Premium Software package (commercial use) do I
have to do it every time new Adobe Software comes out? is it
possible to leave it until the second or third new version of Adobe
CS3 Design Premium Software package comes out so I will be able to
get the upgrade version?
My other question is: my lecturer has advised me to buy the
Student Version of Adobe CS3 Design Premium Software package (for
non commercial use) is it true that Adobe will limit your usage? if
yes how do they do it? as there are probably millions of Adobe CS3
Design Premium Software packages in the UK alone!

Functionally, nothing but from a licensing point of view:

A Full version of the software is a brand new license so the
software can be
installed on a computer which does not already have the
software installed.
e.g. CS3 Full version + CS3 Full version = CS3 (2 licenses; 1

computer))
An Upgrade version is merely an upgrade to an existing
license. i.e. can
only be used to upgrade an existing, qualifying installation
of the software
on a computer. An upgrade cannot be installed on a computer
which does not
already have an earlier qualifying version of that software
installed.
e.g.
CS2 Full version + CS3 Upgrade = CS3 (1 license)
CS Full version + CS3 Upgrade = CS3 (1 license)
Version 7 Full version + CS3 Upgrade = CS3 (1 license)
But Version 6 Full version + CS3 Upgrade = cannot be done
because Version 6
does not qualify for a CS3 upgrade license (Adobe policy).

You would need the original installation disks or files for the Adobe software to get it onto your iMac, and having it on two computers may not be allowed by your university's licensing. Talk to whoever issued the MacBook.
As to the music, just copy it over to the MacBook, either via Home Sharing, file sharing, or an external storage medium (hard drive, USB flash drive, etc.).

LaserJet Pro MFP M276nw software installer not detecting printer via USB or wi-fi - Windows 7

I am trying to install a LaserJet Pro MFP M276nw on Windows 7 Home Premium x64, and I know the printer functions fine, as I have installed it on both Windows Vista Basic x32 and Windows 7 Professional x64 all on the same desktop. The operating system has been changed a couple of times, hence the multiple installs.
I downloaded the full featured software from HP.com and went through the routine of installation as per usual, except that now the software doesn't detect the printer when it requests that I connect it via USB. Trying to install via wi-fi doesn't work because the printer still needs to be attached via USB in order to create the proper wireless handshake. Windows 7 detects the printer, and in-fact installed the drivers for it automatically. However, the printer installation software suite does not respond to the printer being connected, and just hangs there, waiting for it to appear.
I have tried multiple USB ports and it's the same issue. I've installed the basic driver also available for download on HP.com, but that software does not appear to include an option for scanning files to the computer. The printer itself will scan to email or to to a USB thumb drive, and even to a network folder, but not directly onto the computer. If it wasn't a necessary function of an all-in-one printer, I wouldn't bother with the scanning feature and simply make do with the basic printer driver.
Anyone have some sort of idea regarding this issue?

I see that you are having issues with setting up the printer on the one computer. I would like to help you out today.
I would uninstall the software, turn off the Startup programs, Antivirus software and update the driver during the install by the post I have provided.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Uninstall the software.
Here are the steps to run the uninstall from the computer or the CD.
To uninstall from program files:
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.
Select the C drive.
Select program files or program files x86.
Open the HP and printer name folder.
Select uninstall.
Uninstall the software from the CD:
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window. Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Download, save and then run the latest drivers. Don't Connect the USB cable until prompted during the install.
HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Right after connecting the USB cable, follow this document immediately. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. Disregard the title. If the printer stays listed properly, don't worry about updating the driver.
Test the printer.
Then you will have to go back and enable the Startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.

How to install software on an imac that doesn't have DVD player built in?

I just got my daughter an imac G3 running OS 10.4.11. I went to install iwork onto the computer, and it spit the disc out. i then realized the computer does not have a DVD player built in. How do I install newer software? It runs and plays CD fine. Any help?

Since the other Mac is an eMac, it's a FireWire (400) cable, also called 6-pin to 6-pin. OWC has it.

I'm not sure if Radio Shack has it. Look for something like the above.
An eMac may be one of the models where the optical drive is not accessible over FireWire Target Disk Mode. If the hard drive and optical drive are on the same IDE bus, only the one that is set as Master (usually the hard drive) is available to the other Mac.
So give it a try. If it does not work (eMac's optical drive not accessible from the iMac), you will have to reverse the roles of the two Macs. Start up the iMac in FireWire Target Disk Mode. Connect it to the eMac that is started up normally. Set the eMac to start up from the iMac's hard drive in System Preferences +Startup Disk+ pane. If it's Tiger, your eMac should be able to start up from it. Restart. Insert the software disc and let the eMac install the software onto the iMac's hard drive. After installation completes, change the eMac's startup disk setting back, shut down the eMac, disconnect the FireWire cable, and restart the iMac normally.
Note: Unless you purchased the family license for iWork, it should only be installed on one Mac at a time.

What username? It means you have to own and control both machines. They're for your use. You can't buy a computer, install the software, and give it to someone else. So I guess the user registration name should be the same, but this does not apply to two iMacs.
