CS2 registration

I still use Photoshop CS2 as I does all I need and I do not use it enough to warrant updating.
I have downloaded the replacement version to overcome the activation problems with my original disk.
My previous legal edition for some time (and I assume it dates from when you discontinued activation) and the revised edition asks me to register when I start it running each time despite the fact that I have registered it.  Is there any way to stop this slightly irritating question?

Colin Reid

Hello [email protected],
Please Follow these steps to download and install Acrobat 7 or your CS2 applications, which don’t use activation.
If you still have Acrobat 7 or the CS2 applications installed, uninstall them.
WindowsGo to the Control Panel > Add Or Remove Programs, and select the CS2 products you want to remove.
Note: If you installed Creative Suite 2 Standard or Premium, remove all the individual point products as per Step 1.
Mac OSRemove Acrobat 7 or your CS2 applications by dragging the application folder to the trash. You can run a search on your hard disk to find additional CS2 components to delete.
For example, for Photoshop CS2, the components are in the following locations:
Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2
Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings
Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS2 Path
Download the product from the links below (select the language you've bought the product in).English | French | German | Japanese | Spanish | Italian | Dutch | Brazilian Portuguese | Swedish | Danish | Finnish| Norwegian | Chinese Traditional | Chinese Simplified | Korean
Sign in using your Adobe ID and download your application.
Note the serial number (it is on the same page). Successful installation requires this serial number.

  • Can I swap the CS2 registration numbers from two computers?

Is there a way to swap two CS2 registration numbers on two computers without reinstalling the whole lot? Thanks!

I'm not so sure it can't be done. I don't remember the way CS2 worked
but once you deactivate you may be prompted to remove the serial number
from the machine. Go ahead and do that for both and then reactivate
entering the correct serial number on the opposite machines.

  • Illlustrator/Photoshop CS2 registration

I had installed Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 (Education versions, if that makes a difference) to my desktop somewhere around 6 years ago. My desktop finally died on me, so I never had the chance to uninstall either program. Now, when reinstalling on my Dell laptop (which worked just fine) I can't register the program. After researching I now know there have been "glitches" and there are downloads on the Adobe site, but I'm confused. I've got the discs. They were purchased in a store, not downloaded illegally. My disc says I have 30 days to register or Illustrator/ Photoshop CS2 cannot be used.
    My questions:
-Should I ignore the discs entirely (uninstall from laptop) and download from the link on Adobe (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads) instead?
-Will this internet download of the programs expire and cause issues with current projects?
    - How will Adobe know I've actually payed for the products? Do I enter my serial number or customer ID anywhere?
Thank you so very much for your time.
    Stephanie

    Hi StephanieLB
I believe From the link you can download the Trials and you can activate them using the Serial Number.
When you put in the Serial Number to Activate it, Adobe Will recognize if this is a Valid Serial key or will throw an Error msg.
Also, One Serial Key Allows you to install any product on 2 machines.

My old computer crashed and now my photoshop will not let me install it on my new computer because it says is already registered on another computer!

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

  • What's Going On With Adobe's New Upgrade Policy?

My old system died today, so I quickly finished the new system I was building to get up and running as quickly as possible. I tried to re-install my 2 year old copy of CS5 on the new machine, and see at the licenseing step that I had to have either CS3 or 4 extended serial numbers, or a CS2 number. I had CS2 many years ago, but that's long gone. I still have my standard copy of CS3--which was good enough for upgrading when I bought CS5 and originally installed  itunder current upgrade terms at the time. Now it seems it's not good enough even to reinstall on a new box. And to top things off, Adobe takes weekends off, so I can't even get this resolved until Monday.  How much is Adobe paying these days for lost time when they lock you out of your legally owned and licensed Adobe product? Why can't I even go from CS3 to CS5?  I thought that was going to be the new, revised requirement, but I can't even do that.
Can you tell I'm a bit upset? I need access to PS and Bridge NOW, and I can't do anything. I've been told Adobe is far from customer friendly these days, but I had no idea just how true that is.
Is there some sort of work-around, or am I just out of luck until Monday?  Thanks...

Thanks for responding, guys. (Yes, this is actually Hilstudio1--I seem to have logged in with an old email address I used to use--but not on the forums--and Adobe wanted me to choose a screen name. Couldn't find a way to log out and then rejoin with the Hilstudio1 email, so now I have two names!)
Anyway, the old machine died with a corrupted OS (long story, but my fault) and my repair guy came by, spent about 2 hours (but only charged me for one), and said forget this machine, just finish the new one. That's what I did.  of course, this meant I was not able to deactivate PS before I installed a fresh copy of CS5 on the new box. When I tried to enter the license, I started having issues, long before getting to the activation point.
I originally upgraded two years or so ago to CS5 from CS3, and that was not an issue. And Saturday, I was able to enter the CS5 license ok, but when I entered the CS3 license as the upgraded product, I was told it wasn't an eligible product to use for an upgrade to CS5. It had to be either CS2, or CS3/4 extended. If CS3 standard was good enough to upgrade to CS5 standard two years ago, why not now?  I was finally able to find my CS2 registration here on the Adobe site, and it did accept that license. So, I finally got licensed, but I still don't understand the issue that causes the CS3 licence to be ineligible now.
And today, even though I was able to *initially* activate CS5 on the new machine, I'm getting an inelligible for activation message, because it's already installed on two computers. True, but I can't inactivate the old one 'cause it's dead and gone. Why not have a 'button' to push that will start some process in events such as mine--or maybe just keep customer service hours that are comparable to most other large software companies? The inability to deactivate a copy of PS because of a dead computer can't be all that uncommon. I'm so happy that Adobe finds they can maintain banker's hours for customer support while their efforts to protect against even a quarter's worth of potential illegal software use goes on 24/7, affecting even legally licensed users doing nothing wrong. (Yeah, I'm still just a tad upset! )
    Thanks again--

  • Adobe photoshop shortcuts

I'm having issues with the shortcuts of Adobe Photoshop Cs2
I used to use the functions [ and ] to decrease/increase the brush size and also the shortcut to zoom in and zoom out, also I used the arrows on my keyboard to move things more precisely vs moving it with a mouse. I went to Edit> Keyboard shortcuts and i fixed the [ and ] shortcut (I typed the } but it typed a weird Y charcter but it still worked when I used ] ) However i cant find the shortcut for the zoom in and out which should be Ctrl + or Ctrl - and i dont know how I can make Photoshop recognize the arrows of my keyboard when i want to move things. Please help for these shortcuts really do make a difference epecially the arrows on the keyboard.
-Also the registration pop up window that displays when I start up  Photoshop doesnt go away even though I keep registering/ or clicking do not register.....it just doesn't go away which is annoying,

You must have Vista. You need to turn off UAC to get CS2 registration to stick.
(Vista's User Account Control: Type User Accounts into your Vista search bar; click user accounts in the program list to get the dialog to turn it off. If desired, you can turn UAC back on after registration.)
Did you accidentally reassign those shortcuts to something else?  Maybe, try setting them to Photoshop Default set or try Trevor Morris's set for CS2.

If that doesn't work, you might need to reset your Photoshop preference file.

  • CS2, I loved it but now after a computer death and a new install on a new PC the registration program won't take the code and continually needs to bee registered, how do I fix it without buying a new version.

Some time back I was in college and purchased a copy of CS2, I loved it but now after a computer death and a new install on a new PC the registration program won't take the code and continually needs to bee registered, how do I fix it without buying a new version.

Oh, for Pete's sake, folks!  The forum FAQs state very clearly that posters should always perform a forum search BEFORE POSTING.
This question has been asked and answered here ad nauseam here.  I'll bet there are dozens of such questions here in the last few months.
    How To Get Help Quickly
    Before you Post:
Firstly - have you really checked the 'help' option in the program? Many problems can be solved far faster by getting the answer from the Help File.
Secondly - check the Forum FAQ folder. There's advice there on many common questions and problems
Thirdly - use the 'Knowledgebase Search' option near the top of this page. Or you can click here to go to the relevant page and enter your search words there - or just search for 'Photoshop' there to see summaries of all the relevant items.

Can someone please help a friend of mine get a permanent registration key (not a trial key that expires in 30 days) to replace his lost registration key for Adobe Photoshop CS2? His previous hard drive crashed and he no longer has his registration key. This is vital for his wedding business.

Thanks to everyone for the tips on my CS2 question. It turns out in the end it was some plug-in filter software that was causing the glitch, not a lack of an Adobe registration key. As for why he still uses CS2, it does the job for him, so that's all he needs.

  • Problems with my registration of Photoshop CS2

I have owned different versions of Photoshop over the years, and the latest version I have is CS2.
I have it installed on two computers, one running Windows XP and the other running Windows Vista.
Apparently,  Adobe has me under two IDs, both  using the same email address,  but with different physical addresses, my old one and my new one.   All my registration information is apparently stored under the one with the old address, but I can only get access to the one with the new address when I go to the Adobe website.   That one doesn't see my registrations.
For the past several years I've worked primarily under Linux, using gimp, but I just got a new printer, which is not supported under Linux, so I have to use Windows and Photoshop to print.
Every time I start Photoshop CS2 on the second computer, it tells me I need to register.  If I do---needlessly I presume---it accepts the registration, but then the next time I start  the program, it does the same thing over again.
I can live with this, but if there is some simple way to fix it, I would like to do so.  I've spent a lot of time talking to Adobe on the phone or using chat online, but haven't got any help on this matter.
Also, I hope to make some changes to my system in the near future.    First, I will probably upgrade both computers to Windows 7.  Second, I may replace one of the computers with a new computer.  Finally I may  upgrade to Photoshop CS5.
Can anyone give me any advice about how to go about these things so as to end up with two legitamate versions of Photoshop on two computers, and so as to avoid problems..    I am worried that I may have to spend hours on the phone trying to get it done.

MTSTUNER's advice is right on in this case.  I've seen problems with the older versions of Photoshop not being able to write to their installation areas because of UAC.
If Run As Administrator doesn't work, one additional thing you can try is to turn the UAC level down to the lowest setting, run Photoshop once, then return UAC to its default (or leave it off, your choice).

  • CS2 Always asks for Registration

I recently had to replace my computer (old one started smoking).  So I went with a 64 bit machine with Vista 64bit.  My reinstall of CS2 went well (upgrading to a 64 bit version will have to wait but not too long I hope:-).  Activation was OK; registration said it succeeded as well.  But every time I start Photoshop it says I have not registered it and it asks me to do it again.  I have tried to complete the form three times now and it always says it succeeded.  Then the next time I start I bet the registration dialog box again.
What can I do to satisfy CS2?
    Thanks,
    Ian

You need to turn off User Account Control (UAC) off before you register it. If desired, UAC can be turned back on after you register CS2.

  • GoLive CS2 (8.01) and registration screen

This may have been addressed, I did try and do some searches also if it has. I have a Windows 7 PC that I have Adobe GoLive CS2 (8.01) installed on and running. However each and every time I start the program, the registration screen comes up. I would like to find the steps to suppress the registration screen since it still is happening after completing both activation and registration for this product.
Any steps to try and resolve this?

Found a discussion on running CS2 with Vista and mentioned in the thread that this is a Windows UAC issue, so no need to reply what it would have taken Adobe Tech Support 1 minute to report to me. They refused to even offer any assistance on the minor issue.... as Windows 7 as their tech stated is not compatible with Adobe GoLive CS2.
This can be considered as solved. If anyone else has the same problem right mouse click launch the program with the run as adminstrator option and either register the package or click on do not register and then you will not be nagged about registration again when opening the program.

  • Why registration-box when I open CS2?

I recently reinstalled InDesign CS2 on my computer. Since then, every time I open the program, it says I should register. I registered the first time, so that's already been done. And there is no option like "Don't show this again".. How do I get rid of that annoying registration-box?

Turning off UAC didn't help, but after I installed the Service pack for Windows, the registration-box didn't appear.. I hope it stays that way. Thanks anyway, it's great with a forum like this when Adobe doesn't want to give support to customers with older versions of Indesign.
Now I'm going to get CS4.
