CS2 Saving Back to 10

Is there a way to back save from Illustrator CS2 to Illustrator 10 and still be able to edit everything?

  • File created with Document Content Type will not be saved back to Sharepoint library

Recently some of our users, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 with Office 2013, intermittantly are not able to save files created using  document content types template back to sharepoint library. Instead the location is set
to their local storage. The same templates used by Windows 7 users with Office 2010 are working fine. Setting the SP sites as Trusted location in IE and Clearing IE Cache did not help. Adding the SP site in Word Trusted Location did
not help. Any suggestions how this can be resolved is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you could not save office file back to the SharePoint Document library.
It may have to something with your Word Settings. When you click new and it opens in MS Word, word treats it as unsafe because perhaps it is not saved. To make it work:
Go to Word (2013) -> File Menu -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings
-> Protected View Tab -> Uncheck "Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations" (2nd option)
Here is the similar post, you can take a look at:
    http://blogs.interfacett.com/word-2010-not-saving-back-to-sharepoint-2010-by-default
If the issue persist, you can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

  • Can't see iPhoto pics that are edited in PS and saved back to iPhoto

Photos that are edited in Photoshop and saved back into iPhoto don't show up in the iPhoto window. Only the originals show up. When I do a search, I see that they are saved in a "modified" folder inside iPhoto. How can I see them in the iPhoto window? I would like to "trash" some of them. Can I just drag them to the trash from the "modified" folder or will that foul up the iPhoto database?
    Rick

    Maybe this will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Can PSD files saved back to Lightroom retain their layers?

When a file is edited in Photoshop. you can choose a TIFF or PSD. It would seem the advantage to PSD would be the ability to retain layers when saved back to Lightroom especially in a file which remains a work in progress. I have not been able to achieve this result. If this is currently not possible, what is the advantage, if any, to use the PSD format?

Not and be exported as such from LR. LR adjustments will be done to the flattened composite image. PSDs must be saved with 'Maximum Compatibility' to be used at all in LR.

  • Am I correct that Photos does not support external editors? i.e., in Aperture, I click Photos Edit with.... and can open in Photoshop or various plug-ins. Changes are then automatically saved back to Aperture. Nonexistent in Photos?

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

  • Saving back to version 9.0.2?

I'm currently learning to work with Illustrator, and so I have little to no experience with the program so far. I'm trying to develop a presentation poster using Illustrator version 9.0.2. I have some examples that I would like to work from which were created and saved in version 10.0. Is there any way that I can open them in version 9, or will I need to have them opened and "saved back" in version 10?

    >Is there any way that I can open them in version 9, or will I need to have them opened and "saved back" in version 10?
    Most likely the latter.
Note that any version-10-specific features used in the document might not render accurately when backsaved to version 9.
Also note that Illustrator is now at version 14 (almost).

  • Saving back from CC17 to CS6 changes all complicated brushes into expanded objects.

saving back from CC17 to CS6 changes all complicated brushes into expanded objects. Also brushes vanished from brush pallet

    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new-17-0.html#Images%20in%20brushes
Since the Brushes were rewritten for CC, backsaving them (as well as other items) will cause them to be expanded. No way around it.

  • Problem saving back to CS6

When I save a file from Illustrator CC to CS6 and then open in CS6, there is an outline of a black rectangle on every document. Why?

no it's not a view>hide artboard issue. This is a 3/8" x 4 3/4" rectangle that shows up on all documents that I saved back to CS6. It is just a black outline rectangle, but the outline has a shadow effect around it. It shows up at the same position in each document. You can't select it, it's just there. It doesn't seem to effect anything and if I export the image/file as a .png it doesn't show up on the .png when opened. Weird.

  • Externally edited Photoshop files are huge when saved back into Aperture 3

I start with an 8MB JPEG photo. I externally edit it in Photoshop Elements 6, and hit "Save". The edited image is saved back into Aperture, but it's now 34MB PSD. Ouch! My hard disk is big but this is over the top. The intent of me moving to Aperture from iPhoto had been to reduce file sizes (masters and versions), not to hugely increase them.
If I use "Save As" and convert it to a JPEG, the saved edited photo vanishes--it isn't in Aperture. I can't find it. If it is saved in some unknown location it is taking up hard disk space uselessly.
Can you help me do this better? I would be most grateful.

Yup. That is how big such files are when not compressed and image data has not been discarded.
It's an Aperture vs. iPhoto thing: When I did Photoshop External Editing in iPhoto (before I switched to Aperture) the original JPEG stays a JPEG when exported to Photoshop. The file size problem does not occur in iPhoto.
That is correct, and is why few if any pros use iPhoto. iPhoto is by definition +low end,+ dumping image files into lossy JPEG by default. A RAW file imported into iPhoto is saved in JPEG unless the user takes special action to export it as TIFF or PSD.
Aperture won't allow it--it seems to insist on converting to PSD for external editing.
Also correct. Aperture is a professional app, and intentionally and repeatedly discarding image data would not be professional workflow.
My JPEG's are top-notch low-compression ones, using the least compression settings in my Olympus micro-4/3 camera (super fine, large image, with 1/2.7 compression). JPEG artefacts have not been an issue even after extensive Photoshop editing.
Agreed, top quality JPEGs can be very useful even though image information has been discarded. Back when RAW DSLR capture was unusably slow I shot many full-page magazine ads using JPEG Fine. But once the (fast) Nikon D2x came out I have always captured RAW and would no way ever again consider far inferior JPEG-only capture.
Perhaps Aperture is not for me, if we can't overcome this issue.
Perhaps. However IMO a far better approach is to shoot RAW and embrace a professional lossless workflow using Aperture. Mass storage is cheap and the benefits of RAW capture are very significant.
Already my Aperture Library is 70GB and I have barely started with it.
The issue of huge Library is due to using a Managed-Masters Library. Switch to RAW capture and a Referenced-Masters Library with the Library on an internal drive and the Masters referenced on external drives and the Library will no longer grow ridiculously large. IMO discarding image data via JPEG compression just to save hard drive space is inappropriate in 2011.

  • Photoshop CS2 Saving a file as .jpg

I recently installed Photoshop CS2 in my Windows 8.1 machine and now when I create an image in PHotoshop I don't have an option for saving the file as a .jpg in the drop down menu  Can anyone help?

With CS2, you have to make sure the image is flattened, there are not paths, no extra channels, in RGB colorspace, and 8bit.  The current versions of PS does this for you, but not CS2.
BTW, you said you just installed CS2, which is a very old program.  I hope you have a license for it.  See this thread:

  • Saved backing track sounds out of tune

    Hi everyone,
I am having problems recording external audio (a backing track with drums and keyboards) from my synthersizer to Garageband. Sometimes when I do this it is saved successfully but it sounds out of tune and I am not sure why this is?
My synthersizer is connected to my apple computer with an audio cable and I always try to make sure that the tempo of the track on my Korg Triton Extreme synthersizer is the same as the tempo/speed on the track I have created on Garageband.
Any advice about this matter would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks.

Sculpture is not like other synths, period. One can't assume it obeys the laws of traditional subtractive or FM synthesis. The beast acts like a string. If the tension is slack, like putting a .07 string on the first string of a guitar, the note will be flat when struck and then become more in tune as is decays. Sculpture requires a lot of tweeking time to understand. The string tension, density and resolution are critical parameters. The higher or lower the note requires settings to couteract out of tune notes via these parameters. There are also "residual" effects that happen, perhaps even bugs. For instance, sometimes a reverb from the end of a track that had not finished it's tail before stopping, will be continued when the track is started from the beginning again. Sculpture has these residual effects but they can take different forms. Sculpture takes into account the vibrations of any note previous to a note played. That's to say if you play a note fresh with no note having been played before it, it will sound different if you played the same note and there had been a note played previous to it because it understands there are vibrations already happening which it encompasses into the new vibrations. So if there are vibrations still tailing off and you hit stop, those vibrations may act again at the beginning of the song and change the tuning of the first few notes. To make sure this doesn't happen, extend the song end and let any tails of synthesis or reverbs to complete before starting the song again. That being said, you will never get the same sound twice with Sculpture, it will play differently every time! It's almost human. Lovely synth, my friend.

  • Adobe Illustrator cs2 saving image

hi there, I have developed a logo using cs2 on transparent background
I have lots of images together and wanted to save the same logo for print, brochure, web etc in various sizes. Can anyone help with best way to do this? Thanks, gerrys

    gerrys,
Be aware of the colour issue: print (including PS desktop printers) requires CMYK, non PS printers and web require RGB. This means that you will have to use colours working in both modes; obviously, this applies to the artwork created by you, not to ready made raster images.
When you use the term images, do you mean raster images or units of vector artwork?
The way to enable large sizes is to create and keep the artwork as vector and to have raster images in high resolutions; the latter can always be downresolutionized.
More deifnite information will result in more definite answers.

    Hi shaik,
I couldn't find any problem in the code.
Whether that is the first method you are initializing the alv model?
Try this, Comment the whole code in that method. Activate the whole component including views and then uncomment the code.

  • Edit Object then saving back causes the object to move??

    Hi,
I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.6 updated today. When editing PDF documents by right clicking then selecting "Edit Object", I get my usual Illustrator window pop up, change my colour or whatever, Save, back to Acrobat, and the object in question moves! This has only started happening recently and I have been using Acrobat daily in my job, as a PrePress operative, since Acrobat 7 Professional and never had this issue.
Please advise what is causing the object to move?! I have re-installed Acrobat today and re-updated and no change. I also have several colleagues on various versions of Acrobat ranging from 9.5.3 to 10.1.6 who cannot replicate this issue, even on the same PDF file?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Tom.

Re-installing Illustrator seemed to work, even though it was fully up to date and now technically it's not, it works better now. I guess I'll be pausing the "updates" from now on.
    Thanks!

  • Help on saving back from CS4 to CS3 with the crop mark issue.

I am not asking how to create crop marks I needing to know how to save back from CS4 to has already has been created in 3. See issue below.
I am the only one with CS4 in this office. I have to save back to CS3 for everyone else to read. When looking in the artboard, I can see the un-editable crop marks that were made in CS3, but when I work on the file and save it down, they can no longer call up the crop marks. Any clue as to were they might access what should be there?

These work great, thank you so much!
So long as I only work on new stuff, I guess it doesn't matter if I switch to CS3.  :-)   I'll turn down requests for major edits to long documents already done in CS4!
We have 2 feet of snow on the ground here and are expecting 10-20 more inches of snow starting around noon!  DC is basically shut down.  I live right in the middle of the District, and the roads are a mess here.  I can't imagine how bad the suburbs are.
    Thanks again!
