CS2 Suite

I currently have CS2 Suite - Can't activate due to "non-support." What's my best option?

Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

  • How can I reinstall parts of CS2 suite w/o harm to standalone AI CS3, CS4?

On my G4 I have been using Photoshop CS2 from the suite, but over the years as disk space has gotten slim, I've deleted my InDesign and Illustrator CS2 folders to make space. Because the suite is expensive and unwieldy, I have upgraded Illustrator CS3 and CS4 as stand-alone applications (these are upgraded from my FreeHand 10 serial #).
I used to have my applications scattered between two partitions on my hard disk but have enlarged the OS10 partition and shrunk the (rarely used) OS9 partition so there's room on the OS10 partition to put all my applications and files on one disk. Unfortunately, the last time I resized the partitions, I neglected to run a disk utility first, so had to reinstall OS 10.4.11.
Nearly everything works again, except I seem to have lost some sort of permission or activation file for Photoshop CS2. (I've already thrown away the "previous operating system" that the reinstall saved). When I try to reinstall or reactivate Photoshop from my CS2 suite installation disk, the installer thinks I still have all the applications installed (except Version Cue, which I seem to have successfully deleted entirely once upon a time). There is no option in the installer to restore/refresh/reinstall a program I've already installed (i.e. if I damaged a file).
I can find "uninstallers" for CS3 and CS4 applications, but all I have for CS2 is the PDF with instructions for how to chase down and delete a dozen or so files from libraries and preference folders. Some of these are easy to find. (They tend to have 2005 and 2006 creation dates). Other files and folders seem to be intermingled with items installed by (and NEEDED by) Illustrator CS3 and CS4. So I am reluctant to delete every last file on the PDF instructions.
Is there a specific file or folder I should delete that will make the CS2 installer think there are no CS2 applications already installed? I'm happy to do a complete reinstall, but I'd like to not have to reinstall my later copies of Illustrator too. (Mac OS 10.4.11, PPC chip)
At this point I've deleted about 2/3 of the items on the uninstall instructions, and I've emptied the trash, but no luck re-installing. Any ideas?
    Thanks - Ben

Oops! Housekeeping again. When cleaning out my old drive partition, I had left the CS2 applications in the old applications folder, and copied the contents to the main applications folder. I intended to hang onto the old CS2 files until I was sure they were no longer needed, or the new ones worked; instead I forgot about them.
Although I had deleted the CS2 files from the new application folder, the installation disk detected the ones in the old location, and wouldn't let me install new ones. I erased those files and it's now reinstalling properly.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Upgrade question on older CS2 suite/Photoshop

I recently bought a sealed Adobe CS2 Creative Suite Premium upgrade, Adobe P/N 28040331. On the outside of the package it says it will upgrade to the CS2 Suite if one is "a licensed user of Adobe Photoshop CS or an earlier version."
    I own licenses for Photoshop 3, 5, 5.5, and CS2.
Will this CS2 Creative Suite Premium upgrade work with my Photoshop 5.5 serial number? After all, it is an "earlier version." I recall that this was a special promotion type of thing. But I don't want to open the package if it won't work. I bought it because it would be nice to have the CS2 suite on my second laptop as a backup.
    TIA for you help!

If it's a legitimate version of CS2, yes.

  • Upgrading from CS2 Suite (Win) to CS5 Suite (Mac)

Over the last few days I have twice called Adobe UK sales and have been assured that I can easily upgrade my Windows CS2 suite to a Mac CS5 suite.
I was told that all I have to do is enter the CS2 Windows serial number during the CS5 Mac installation and it will be accepted.
However I have found no mention of this anywhere on the internet.
Has anyone been given the same or conflicting advise by Adobe for this type of scenario?

Adobe are even contracdicting themselves re CS5 upgrades.
I was told by the UK sales team that I wouldn't need to submit a letter of software destruction upgrading from CS2 Windows to CS5 Mac.
However, the Adobe on-line representative said I would.
I can understand this requiurement for a straight platform swap of the same version.
However, if I am upgrading, I surely need a valid suite to upgrade from?
If I destroy my CS2 I will no longer have a valid suite any longer!
I have also found out that PhotoShop Mac CS5 will apparently no longer have the ability to print printer profiling targets with colour management disabled. Supposedly Adobe labs are developing a separate utility for printing profiling targets but with no ETA. This means that I will have to continue to use an earlier version of PhotoShop anyway!
With these uncertainties, contradictions and complications I have now cancelled my order.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Can't install CS2 Suite when CS5 is present?

I'm not sure where the problem is, but I am trying to re-install full, fresh CS2 Suite (on 10.6.4/Intel MPB).
I have bits and pieces of CS2, CS4, and CS5 on the machine currently.
When I try to install CS2, all the options are greyed out, except Photoshop. I can't do a standard install either, only custom.
    See:   http://bayimg.com/PaNomAaCe
I don't think this is a Snow Leopard problem, if I boot into 10.5 (Leopard), I get the same problem.
Its been a while since I needed to install older versions while current versions are present, and I seem to remember issues, but I am at a loss on this one.
    Any help or ideas?

It won't let me get that far in the Suite installation. When the installation pops up, I click on the Suite and that's when it blocks me telling me that my screen resolution isn't high enough. I can't get to the screen that allows me to choose between complete and custom installation.
    Thoughts?

  • Core duo and cs2 suite

I'm still using panther with cs2 suite. Do these programs still run with tiger?

Adobe CS2 does run on Tiger. As for the Core Duo in the title of your post, CS2 will also run on a new mac with Intel chip, but will run under Rosetta emultion and will be slightly slower.

  • Security update and Adobe CS2 Suite

there is alot being said about this but i thought i would throw this out there, as it may be helpful.
i installed security update on intel macbook pro from software update. machine is nonresponsive, can move mouse but that is all. so i did an erase and reinstall of os. everything seems peachy. repair permissions, repair disk from dvd. reboot and install update. reboot again and repair permissions. check operations, mail, safari, etc. all is well. reinstall cs2 suite and halfway through install disk 2 my machine freezes up (all except the mouse as before).
start over, exactly same steps and exactly same results. halfway through install disc 2 of cs2 suite, freeze.
i am now reinstalling os and holding off on the security updates for a while.
not sure why this is happening , any thoughts?
p.s. when answering threads it is (in my opinion) bad etiquite to proceed your response with "uh..." sounds like "man, you must be stupid"
i.e. "Uh... did you backup your data first? did you repair permissions? jeez i can't believe i am even wasting my time, why don't you know that?" etc.
that is why people come to the forums to get advice/help and to learn. not to be insulted or harassed for making a mistake.

has anyone tried to reinstall w/o the adobe version cu? i am not doing it. i have wiped my system and reinstalled the os three times in the past two days. i can say pretty safely though that ,at least in my case, adobe suite is "the" problem.
i would say terminal hangup while installing the application on a 100% clean machine twice in a row is sort of obvious what the culprit is. but, for now, i will happily live w/o the update.

  • Upgrade IDCS2 to CS4 w/o upgrading entire CS2 suite?

I want to upgrade ID CS2 to ID CS4 without upgrading the entire Design Standard suite.
    Reason = it is cheaper.
Will the other CS2 suite components 'get along' with the one IDCS4 component?
Version Cue is not a factor - we don't use it, it is not installed.
All other system requirements are kosher.
    Thanks
    Pete

    Scott,
Thanks for the quick response. After fiddling with the upgrade options
I came to realize what you just expressed.
    Pete
    >>> Scott Falkner <[email protected]> 10/27/2009 3:55:44 PM >>>
It is not cheaper. You cannot upgrade only one component of the suite.
To upgrade only InDesign you would need to purchase a new license. This
costs more that the upgrade for the suite.
However, to answer the rest of your query: InDesign is probably the
best program top upgrade if you only upgrade one. That*s because an
InDesign file is almost always the end product, except for the PDF you
send to the printer and the final printed piece. One generally imports
Illustrator and Photoshop files into InDesign. InDesign CS4 will import
Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 files just fine.

  • OSX Leopard /CS2 suite + Photoshop CS2

    Hi.
I am using a dual 2.3 Ghz G5 Powermac, a macbook Pro and a new Imac 2.4ghz Intel. My dilemma is as follows:
I am currently using CS2 suite and would like to be using Photoshop CS3, for the new features and the intel compatibility. As there are parts of the CS2 suite I still use ( GoLive / Indesign) I would like to install just the Photoshop CS3 standalone and continue using the older suite too. I was also intending upgrading the OSX to Leopard and doing a clean install on the G5 and Macbookpro machines, not the imac, it is already installed on that one.
The question is this: Will I have problems if I have two versions of photoshop installed on the machines and how will this work with plug-ins. Obviously I just want to use the plug-ins for CS3 Photoshop.
I realise it would be easier to upgrade the whole suite, but that is costly and the new suite does not include GoLive so even more cost to upgrade that application.
    Any ideas??

    > Grain surgery≤
Alas, Grain Surgery is not universal binary. :( It's one of the many reasons perhaps the most important one why I am not planning to move to a Mac-Intel machine for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, Adobe acquired Grain surgery and have more or less let it languish in PPC mode. To their credit, they did fix CS3 during the beta process to allow it to run Grain Surgery (not the other way around) natively on a PPC machine and in Rosetta PPC emulation on a Mac-Intel box, as early Photoshop 10.x builds crashed spectacularly the instant you tried to access
any of the four Grain Surgery filters.
Grain Surgery is as essential for my workflow as Photoshop and ACR are.
    > have an old version of Photoshop (7) so I can use that number to install the pS CS3 update and the number from my old CS suite for my CS2 suite ....... I presume!
Not if you used that Photoshop 7.x serial number to upgrade to the suite.
In any event, be advised that Photoshop 7.x will not qualify for upgrading to anything once CS4 ("Stonehenge") is formally announced.

  • Fireworks 8 crashes after installing Adobe CS2 Suite

I have been running Fireworks with no problems till I
installed the Adobe CS2 suite. Now I get the splash screen up
everytime even though I click the little box bottom left to disable
and everytime I start to key in text it crashes. I'm on a G5 (pre
    intel) OSX 10.4.8
Any ideas as I use fireworks a lot and I don't want to
uninstall CS2 and go back to CS1

I'm having the same problem - I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, running the cleaner, still no joy

  • Adobe CS2 Suite on Tiger keeps quitting

    Hey guys!
I really don't know what topic to post this under but here goes:
I'm on a MacPro running OSX Tiger. My problem is with my Adobe Creative Suite CS2 software. I've had it installed for a while, but programs starting "quitting unexpectedly" if another CS2 software was open. If I have InDesign open, the I open Photoshop, InDesign will quit. If I have Photoshop open, then open Illustrator, Photoshop will quit. It used to just do it every once in a while--but recently it's gotta worse and does it every time. It's very frustrating as a designer having to restart each program every time I need to use it! It seems to only happen with Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Acrobat doesn't ever quit.
I've unistalled and reinstalled the entire Suite and it's still happening.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time!
    Sheila

In Applications>Utilities, you'll find Disk Utility, run that then Verify the HD, if it needs repair you'll need to either...
Boot off your install CD/DVD, look for Utilities in tme Menubar after selecting Language & run Disk Utilty to Repair the HD from there.
Boot into Single User mode by holding CMD+s while booting, once the DOS like prompt shows up, type fsck -fy, (the spach after fsck is important), and repeat that until no more errors.
    3rd way coming up last.
Permissions can be repaired after fixing the HD with Disk Utility in either place also.
Apple's Hardware Test is on the install DVD, insert it, reboot, hold doen the d key while booting.
    Last but not least, Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
PS. I'd uninstall the Adobe APPs first, reinstall them once everything is cleaned up, repair permissions after install again.
Also, if you can keep rough track of any errors while the Disk or Permissions are fixed, it may help if we have further problems

  • CS2 suite error problem

Beginning this morning I'm no longer able to open some of the CS2 apps.
    The error message is:
"Sorry, a serious error has been detected. To continue using Adobe Creative Suite, please reinstall the application"
    Illustrator fails to open
    InDesign fails to open
    Photoshop fails to open
    Bridge fails to open
    ImageReady opens
    Acrobat opens
    Mac OSX 10.4.11
Deleting the suite and re-installing did not fix the problem. Nothing has changed on the system since the last time InDesign or Photoshop were launched two or three days ago.
Any ideas short of initializing the hard-drive and re-loading everything from scratch?

Hi Elvis, finally I found someone with exactly the same problem that I have had for the past two weeks.
I`ve been looking everywhere for some info about it without luck,  and un-installing and re-installing haven`t solve the problem at all.
A question: Does a red circle with a white cross appears on the version cue icon?
If I found the answer be sure I will share it with you.

  • Possible to run CS2 Suite on OS 10.9?

Just got a new MacBook Pro running OS 10.9.  Can't install my Adobe CS2 software (unsupported).  So I went to the download page and tried there... once I tried to install, same problem.  Is there no way to run CS2 on this computer?

    Hi Atsbayn,
As you have stated above, CS2 is unsupported and incompatible with Mac Mavericks 10.9
