I have cs3 on m pc. It is not very stable
I am considering getting a Mac Pro.
Would CS3 or CS4 be more stable on the Mac?

Well most of the cells with 5 or 6 decimal spots are formulaic and calculated from linked Excel files in the Excel file. This does give me a place to start I'll ahve to get with my client and see what his results with Excell are. Thanks guys.

After a crash of my HD, I reinstalled the CS3.
At the time of recording I get a window with the message "COMPLETED REGISTRATION" and under "There was a problem sending the informasioni via internet" and still under three choices to "send back" and "records in a second time "or" never record "and I continue to choose the latter option.
Another problem is that in Bridge (version 2.0.0.975) I can no longer see thumbnails of RAW files from my Canon 40D that I saw before.
Should I upgrade ACR? which is the latest version supported on my Mac?

Is there a way to export data from Framemaker 7.0 to InDesign CS3 for the MAC

I am asking this question for our Advertising department so I am not too close to the situation. Another company that is part of oujr platform designed their catalogs in Framermaker 7.0. We have Framemaker 6.0. The only reason we have it is to work with this other version of Framemaker 7.0. Our advertising people use InDesign CS3 for the Mac. Right now Advertising gives the person with Framermaker 7.0 changes to be made to their catalog. He exports the file as an IMF file and she pulls it into Framermaker 6.0.
We tried to upgrade from Framemaker 6.0 to 9.0, but that wasn't possible.
Ideally we would like to take a 600 page catalog created with Framemaker and convert it to InDesign.
We would also like to take the files created with Framemaker 7.0 and import them into InDesign.
Is there a way to do this?

You can convert FrameMaker MIF (interchange) files to InDesign with the dtptools.com MIF Filter plug-in for InDesign. The plug-in is free, because you have to pay for the pages you convert. The bigger bundle of pages you buy, the lower cost per page.
dtptools.com also has a really free plug-in for FrameMaker that converts .fm files to .mif, whole directories at a time.
The converted InDesign files usually look very close to the original FM files, but it's possible to create things in FM that fools the converter, so you'll need to look the conversions over carefully.
I reviewed MIF Filter in some detail in InDesign Magazine in a late 2007 issue.
You should be aware that InDesign CS3 is no longer sold, so you can't buy more copies for all your users to be working in the same release. While it's possible to exchange files between ID CS3 and CS4 there are some things that don't convert perfectly, so you'll still have to inspect closely. I believe the most-common issue is text reflow.
It's not clear if you intend never to go back to using FrameMaker for any of the catalog work, except perhaps for creating original text.
Without seeing an example of the catalog pages, it's impossible to recommend any useful strategies. You can post a screen shot to this forum by clicking the camera icon in the button bar above the reply entry area. Inserting with the camera puts the picture on the forum very quickly, vs. attaching the picture as a file (it takes hours or days.)
There may be other strategies for creating your catalog.

How do you select special media tray from Adobe Photoshop CS3 on the Mac?

I can select the special media tray (HP Photosmart Pro 9180) from Word for Mac and Illustrator CS3 for the Mac, but I don't know how to select it from Photoshop CS3 for the Mac.

All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC. You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop. You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines. You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

The latest, and only available choice is CS6. You have two choices, subscribe to Creative Cloud or buy a new license.
There are no upgrades with the exception of a discount for the first year of the full Creative Cloud.

How to open Camera RAW (CR2) files in Photoshop CS3 and CS4? (Mac)

I have a Canon 7D. I prefer to shoot in raw format, but the CR2 files cannot be opened by either Photoshop CS3 on my Mac in the office OR by Photoshop CS4 on my iMac at home.
I have tried dowloading the Adobe DNG Coverter and Camera Raw 4.6 update (which is SUPPOSEDLY intended to work for CS3) and followed the instructions to replace the plug-in. STILL a no-go. CS3 STILL tells me "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
What gives? Does anyone know of a way to get CR2 files to open in Photoshop CS3 or CS4? (A way that actually works?) Because Adobe's plug-in update doesn't seem to do it, and Canon's "fine-grain" editing controls for raw images is pretty lack-luster.

Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.

Can I Copy CS3 Apps from One Mac to Another and Make them Work?

First off, I KNOW how this sounds at first blush. I am NOT trying to violate the EULA. I have legitimate serials for Creative Suite 3.
HOWEVER I'm in a position where my new Mac will not allow me to install CS3 from the disks or DMGs made from them. It's a long story, one that has Apple support stumped and me up against writing deadlines for which I need CS3 and CS4 running concurrently.
I'm replacing one Mac (a Powerbook G4 10.4.11) with another (10.6.2). Migration assistant fails. Install disks fail. DMGs from install disks fail. All works on the G4, not on the 10.6.
SO, is there a way I can COPY (or move) the installed and functioning CS3 apps from the G4 to the new 10.6 system via Ethernet (or USB)? I mean, other than the application folders and the prefs, what would I have to copy/move? Is it even possible? I don't need to transfer the serial and activation; I can re-enter my serial and re-activate the software once on the new computer; I just need to get it working via copy/move on the new Mac.

Frak. I was afraid of that. That means I need to keep the old Mac up just for screenshots and testing techniques in my articles for the next year to 18 months. I'd better go buy a second desk to keep all these computers handy.

OK, This can look like a silly question but I really need to be using this program by sunday and i have no ideia how to install it in my mac. I need help
so i got the 4 disks to install CS3 ( adobecreative 3 master collection)
but i dont know how to install it. i put the disk 1 and nothing happen so i open the cd andi can see the files but i can not install it.

is this the Mac OSX or the Windows version of CS3 ?
If this is the Mac version, then there should be an Installer on the first CD.
If this is the Windows version you have to install Windows before you can install any kind of Windows executable program.
BootCamp http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ or VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ are two possibilities to install Windows on a Intel-based Mac.
Both are free.
Another two are Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Both costs.
All four requires that you a valid Windows license/CD to install Windows.

Maybe this can help someone else... I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that. I think that sorted it! I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back. Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6. Difficult to open files saved in the MAC PC when working on the network.

Working on a network that has Mac and PC sharing and using the same file, but yesterday the illustrator went to the windows to open files saved in the MAC network. If I save the file on the hard drive it opens, but if you are not on the network. But if you open the same file with Photoshop does not show any error, even though network. This is a known issue. Illustrator is not good at using network shares. I recommend you simply save and load all files locally and then copy them to your network locations afterwards, when needed.

Will CS3 run on intel Mac?

Getting a new mac pro and wondered if CS3 will install on it okay? Might be a stupid question, but i figured if CS5 wont load on my powermac,maybe cs3 wont work on the newer setup. I ordered CS5 for it,but the print setup is not as nice as CS3 in my opinion.

How soon are you getting a new Mac (pre or post Lion)?
CS3 runs on Intel Macs now with the current kitties. Lion may be another matter.

download the mac installation file when you are ready. don't forget to deactivate (help>deactivate) on your pc if you'll no longer need lr on your pc.
