CS3 and FTP

Is there anyone who have CS3 and having a hard time getting their FTP in Dreamweaver to work? I've called Godaddy and they tried but couldn't help. The only thing I can think of is Lion. It was working in snow leopard. Any solution to this?
Thanks

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and FTPS

Crystaltech, my hosting service, this last weekend removed
FTP as an option to connect to their servers, instead touting the
FTPS format/protocol. Now Dreamweaver won't connect to my server
and I have to use FileZilla to download files, open in Dreamweaver,
save changes in Dreamweaver, load FileZilla, connect to server,
upload, then refresh browser for changes. This is INSANE!! What
used to take a minute for changes is now taking 5.
Here are my questions: Has anyone else encountered this, and
if so, what solution did you use or is everyone having to do this
multi-step process for file editing? Is there a 3rd-party add-in
extension which handles this issue that I should know about? Will
the developing team @ Adobe be addressing an upgrade/add-in to
    support this more-safe technology?

I have CrystalTech and Dreamweaver gets and, puts just fine.
    Make sure the
    Use passive FTP is checked.

  • DW CS3 locked files and FTP issues - cannot update pages

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 and now cant seem to
update any of my web pages. I can connect to the server etc and see
my files locally & remotely but when I try check out a file to
update it I get an error message saying 'index.html is a locked
file and can be viewed but not changed'. All I can do with it is
view it. When I try to unlock any files locally nothing happens????
This was not an issue before I upgraded.....I have checked my
FTP details with a version on my pc and there are exactly the
same.....does anyone know is this an issue with mac version of
    Dreamweaver CS3?
    Help!!!

Can you post a link to your child or template page and tell
    us what you have
    changed that didn't propagate?
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done). If
    you *have
done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using
    FILE | New > Page
from Template, select the template and click CREATE.
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?
    Or, read this -

  • Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP issues.

Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP
    issues.
    Never mind...I found it.
Of course I have all the firewall, worm, scanning, phishing
filtering, full time protect, and everything else turned off when I
am working on a remote/testing site however I found the Symantec
antivirus email scan being enabled (doesn't it just interact with
my email program?) was getting in the way of DW9 ftp operations,
causing some lagging that was putting DW9 into an unstable mode
during and immediately after (10 seconds) ftp operations.
The CPU still spikes to 99% during ftp functions but DW9
works even though it's likely taxed to the max but when I turn off
email scan DW9 returned to a functioning state during ftp and
remote file view. Whatever it takes huh?
PS: email scanning only never effected DW8.02
My System Info: properly configured (as in: everything works
    or I fix it) Toshiba - XP pro SP2 – Pentium 4 - 2.3GHz
    – 1.5 GB ram – Intel extreme graphics card 64 MB ram
    – Apache 2.2 server – PHP 5 – MySQL 5 -
    phpMyAdmin – Dreamweaver 8.02 – Interakt Kollection
    3.7.1 – Dreamwweaver 9 - DeVtoolbox – Flash –
    GoLive - Photoshop - ImageReady – Illustrator – Acrobat
    – CuteFTP – Putty SSH - blabla...)

Thanks for the response. I managed to Google the 'nobody' account and found the explanation.
As you say, I assumed the 'syslogd' process had to do with system logs. I did check the console and couldn't find anything of particular interest in the logs.
I'll continue to monitor but if anyone has any further suggestions please post.
One thing that might also have an impact... my available drive space is now down to less than 5gb (runs anywhere between 1gb and 5gb free depending on what I'm running). I know this causes problems for Parallels as it keeps moaning at me, but would it cause any problems with OSX?
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

  • Contribute 6.5 and FTP

Do any versions of Contribute support FTP over SSL (FTPES)
One of our customers cannot connect to our servers using Contribute CS3 because it doesn't support this. They can warrant the upgrade cost should this be supported.
    Thanks
    Alex
Edit: Sorry, yes, I have looked around the site and forums. I couldn't find much useful information, other than CS3 doesn't support it.

What's the difference between FTPS and FTP? Would that cause a problem w/ my server connection? I'm trying to connect to my website and it says, "the server is down."

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Flash Prof CS3 and the web

I am a beginner web designer, but I have search for this
answer for DAYS now! I have placed flash in a html file in
Dreamweaver CS3. I have tried to get it to show up on the web to no
avail. It plays fine in Dreamweaver, but doesn't show up in the
preview (not even the dreaded white box). The white box shows up
when I try to view the site online. I know the html file is there
because the html graphics show up, but the flash media doesn't. I
have double checked that both local and ftp directories match. I
have uploaded the script file and the AC_RunActiveContent file to
the server in the same directory as the local. I have tried
uploading just the Scripts file, just the AC_RunActiveContent file,
and both - to see whatever works! In my anguish I have also double
checked my flash publish settings (played with them to see if that
helped, and then reversed them back to step 1), made sure my images
(flash and html) were there, and gone in and double checked the
script source code in the html file to make sure it embeds the
source, absolute. I am ready to pull my hair out or declare another
occupation! Is this just CS3 craziness, or will the answer be
revealed to me in a dream!

    Hi,
I suggest posting this question in the "Dreamweaver General Discussion" forums, as it´s not related to the Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox
    (ADDT) extension.

  • Bridge CS3 and error message

On my old Windows XP with CS3, Bridge would often crash.  No pattern I could see.
Recently bought a new Windows 7 PC with iCore 7 processor and installed same software.  Had the same problem as above.
I also have just bought a new laptop running Windows 7 with a dual core processor.  Loaded same software and also had the same problem.
The Photoshop CS3 (and Bridge) is as up to date as Adobe provide, so is Windows on all three machines.  The common element in all three seems to be CS3, or at least, that's how it appears.
When it crashes on the two Windows 7 machines, it wants to send the following files to Microsoft.  Haven't used the old XP machine for a while and don't have any notes of those messages.
    All three files begin:   C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp\
    and carry on:
    WERB144.TMP.WERInternalMetadat.xml
    WERE5BD.tmp.appcompat.txt
    WERF632.tmp.mdmp
This is way above my knowledge.  Can anyone help, please?  What does it mean and could I fix it easily?
In the meantime, I'm doing the 30 day trial of LR2 which may be the best way to go.  But I would like to know why Bridge is behaving as it is.
    Thanks!
    John Walmsley

    Thanks, Curt.
I'll give this a try and report back.  All three PCs are using the same BitDefender Total Internet Security software so that is definitely a common feature.

  • Mouse pointer Problem with CS3 and windows 7

    Upgraded
to a new PC which has Windows 7(32bit) as an operating system. Installed my Photoshop CS3 and everything seems ok except when I magnify in the navagator panel. Once I zoom in my mouse pointer changes to 3 hands in the navigator panel. I powered up my old laptop which has Vista and my CS3
then matched up the mouse settings in the control panel on the new PC. Used the same usb mouse on both PC's, the older Vista laptop worked fine but the windows 7 PC would get a tripple pointer in the navigation panel when I magnified. In the windows 7 laptop I then set the compatibility for Photoshop CS3 to run in XP mode but the problem did not clear. I see in FAQ for CS4 people have complained about tripple cursers in windows 7 but the replies indicated that the recommended fix did not work. Any help apreciated.
    Tom

Thanks for your solution. I by changing the setting to 125% I am now able to use CS3 without tripple pointers.
My eyesight is challenged so the decrease in text is a challenge but I can change the setting when I will use CS3 so I have a workarount.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Unable to Open Images in Bridge CS3 and Continuing Icon issues!

Re: Icon issues in Bridge CS3 and also with Photo Downloader that have never been there before.
So, these are the issues.   Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image.    Issue #2  - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue.  Third issue.  None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file.  Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8
I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident.
Thanks for your time and previous  suggestions - still not working.  I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed  by the two snapshots I've attached.  The first is one from a library from my user section.  The second library image is from my hard drive.  Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc!  All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac.  But after the laughing has stopped, any help will be tremendously appreciated - am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.
    "user image"
    Hard Drive image:
    Thanks in advance

First of all, if you don't know much about how applications work inside of the OS, its wise to not look in the application folder(s). Deleting anything here can make your apps go haywire. If this happened, then you are best to 1)unregister photoshop, 2) uninstall your entire suite. 3) reinstall the suite and finally 4) reregister photoshop.
All images/textures/photo's including dng, cr2 and nef files need to be stored in your pictures folder and no where else, unless you're an intermediate user on your OS. In your pictures folder you can create folders for organizing the pictures whether by location, season's, time, or file format.
Then when you back up you can just drag a copy of the files to another drive including cd's or dvd's.
This will make sure you don't accidently delete important app files.
All this said, my OS of choice is Windows, so if anything does not sound right, thats why.
    Hopefully this helps...

  • CS4, reverting to CS3 (and getting a refund!) but still interested in opinions

I've just spent the last 24 hours trying to muscle my way through the myriad of problems I'm finding with CS4. I've managed to alleviate some, but still can't produce my end video.
To start off, I'm running on Windows Vista. All the problems seem to centre around Media Encoder (although I didn't get far enough to play with Encore or On Location).
Initial problems where to do with installation. If CS3 is removed after CS4 is installed the link to Media Encoder fails, you then have to removed CS4 and reinstall. Uninstall doesn't work correctly or completely, it leaves a fair amount of files behind that have to be manually removed, failure to do so resulst in Error 2 on reinstall (I'm guessing because the install tries to create some of the working directories, and fails because they are already there?).
After reinstallation, the job appeared correctly in Medie Encoder when it was fired up from Export in PP, and it was also now possible to add files to Encoder directly. I tried a test run of my project with the following settings:
    H264
    Width : 1280
    Height : 720
    fps : 25
    Field order : Progressive
Quality : 4.0 and 5.1 (tried to runs)
Bit rate : can't remember, but atleast 12M for target and perhaps 30M for max?
    VBR 2 pass
    Sound : AAC
The end video was incredibly jerky.
I tried a second time using the following settings:
    Quicktime
    Codec : H264
    Quality : 100
    Width : 1280
    Height : 720
    fps : 25
    Field Order : progressive
    Pixel Aspect : square
    Use maximum bit depth ticked
Bit rate : 1k (I tried to move this to 5k however it kept reverting back)
    Sound : AAC
Export from PP initially failed, the job appeared in the queue, however nothing actually happened, it just sat there. I read on another post that updating Quicktime to 7.5.5 fixes that (does PP rely on Quicktime for the codec?), tried and the job then started.
Upon completion, the video played smoothly, although quality was low (low bit rate?). However the video to audio sychronisation was completely out. 30 seconds of play, and the sound was around a second behind the video.
I then tried applying all of the updates. As with other people, the Encoder portion failed initially (even though I started the update process from Encoder), but then succeeded the second time.
Upon completion of the updates, the problem reverted back to the initial, i.e. the job started OK, but didn't actually do anything.
The render settings I'm using are required by the web site I'm trying to create this video for, and also worked without issue in CS3.
It would seem to me that the Media Encoder portion in CS4, on the Windows version atleast, is seriously flawed (and no, I'm not going to buy a MAC ;-)).
I would like some answers to these problems, despite all the issues, I did like the overall look and feel of the product compared to CS3, and I also now need the AVCHD support.
Forgive any innacuracies in the phrases used, settings etc, CS4 has been removed from my system for now, so it was all from memory.

    Stuart,
Maybe I'm just too old and have seen too many "revolutions," to get onto that wagon.
However, the more I follow CS4 threads, the more I am starting to question whether I will upgrade from CS2, or not. Some things look useful to me (more than with CS3), but then there are the problems.
Adobe IS listening, as evidenced by a few of the folk on the team dropping by to give info on updates, etc. Having some major "fixes" so soon upon release, indicates to me, that they are working on it.
I didn't move to CS3 for similar reasons. Also, it really did not offer ME much in the way of useful features.
Whether it's through bug reports, posts in the forum or direct correspondence with Adobe, the best way to get their attention, and provide them with useful data, is to offer as much detail on the specific problem(s) as one can and demonstrate repeatability. General posturing might make one feel better, but does little to get improvements in the program.
As you state, some of the problems are probably OE. Some are system specific, and others are related to 3rd party software. Still, there do seem to be a lot of issues that ARE CS4-specific. These worry me. These are the issues that I would like to see Adobe address. So far, they seem to be, albeit maybe not quickly and efficiently enough for many users. CS4 does seem to be more of a "work in progress," than I am willing to take on just yet, especially as it would also likely mean a new workstation and new OS (one that is not without some problems of its own and a new learning curve also).
I'm fortunate enough to have CS2 and a rock-solid group of systems to use it on. It does 95% of what I'd like for it to do, and that extra 5% has yet to intice me, especially with the "problems" that I've been reading about.
As for the Adobe faces in the forum, they have shown up, when they could actually tell us something. I view that as a very positive sign. Even when they have dropped in, too many people demand to know "WHEN?" something will be fixed. If they knew, they'd tell us.
I'm sorry that CS4 has not gone more smoothly, upon release. It saddens me greatly. However, it is also why I will be waiting and keep reading. For me, this will be an upgrade that will be very expensive, because it's not just the software. I hope that Adobe does get it all running and running smoothly.
I would anticipate, and hope, that the next update fixes most of the issues. I anticipate, and hope, that Adobe will provide us with the same sort of info on it, as they have done with 4.0.1 & AME's update. I also hope that the forum subscribers will concentrate on the info provided and cease with the "WHEN?" The Adobe posters do not know yet, as the coders are still working on it. It *seems* that rushing to meet a product release date might have gotten us into this trouble to begin with.
My fingers are all crossed. Maybe 4.0.2 will signal that it's time for me to make the jump.

  • How to open animated .GIF files in Photoshop CS3 and newer

Q: Since ImageReady is long gone from Photoshop, how can I open animated GIF files in Photoshop CS3 and newer?
    A: File -> import-> video to layers.
In the dialogue box type "*.*" to show all file types.
Select your GIF file and which frames to import.
They will now be available in your animation palette.

    Zeno
curt y, sorry for the late reply, I tried that but I doesn't work. I have to choose at least two files in the Load Layers window in order for the OK button to be available and then some action script uses the different files to make layers and merges them but not from the frames of the gif file. I can undo through the script to see what it did but it never accessed the frames of the gif file, just the first frame. Choosing "make frames from layers" in the animation palette only puts the original files into layers - that is only the first frame of the gif file.
I guess I'm out of luck with the 64  bit version of Photoshop as Zeno suggested :-(
What program would you people suggest for opening each frame from gif files?

  • How to open Camera RAW (CR2) files in Photoshop CS3 and CS4? (Mac)

I have a Canon 7D. I prefer to shoot in raw format, but the CR2 files cannot be opened by either Photoshop CS3 on my Mac in the office OR by Photoshop CS4 on my iMac at home.
I have tried dowloading the Adobe DNG Coverter and Camera Raw 4.6 update (which is SUPPOSEDLY intended to work for CS3) and followed the instructions to replace the plug-in. STILL a no-go. CS3 STILL tells me "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
What gives? Does anyone know of a way to get CR2 files to open in Photoshop CS3 or CS4? (A way that actually works?) Because Adobe's plug-in update doesn't seem to do it, and Canon's "fine-grain" editing controls for raw images is pretty lack-luster.
    Thanks (in advance)!

Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.

  • Enabling Installation of CS3 and CS4 products that will not install on Windows 7 64Bit.

Adobe installers are not known for their helpful or forgiving ways & I have more than once had to reinstall Windows when installation of CS3 and CS4 products has failed with patently inscrutable errors.
The background to the current issue that I was attempting to install PS CS4 on a W7 system which already had CS CS3 installed. The CS4 installer threw up inscrutable messages indicating  that the installation could not proceed and to contact Adobe (they are joking right ? Their phone & web support is notoriously UN-helpful).
After reading through threads suggesting that I uninstall CS3, apply CS3 and CS4 cleaning scripts I was in exactly same position I have found myself in on least 2 occasions with WinXP. By this time I couldn't event get CS CS3 to reinstall!
Then I decided to review the event log and found a number of installer events thrown up by the Adobe installers resembling "Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\xxxxxxxx".
I tracked down this very helpful solution which allowed me to change the registry permissions on the parent key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\ Components and propagate the new permissions down to the child keys.
    http://www.okino.com/conv/changing_windows_registry_permissions.htm.
My advice is to follow instructions for "A More All-Encompassing Solution" and propagate the permissions right down to all the child keys as I could see a number of separate adobe installer errors in the event log. Also note the instruction to change the Owner from 'System' to 'Administrators' in Advanced settings. This is necessary in order for the Permissions change to be accepted and replace all the child object permissions.
As with most registry changes good advice to backup your registry hive first (although I didn't; by this time I was already expecting to have to reinstall Windows) and restart your system after making the registry changes before attempting to install  / reinstall CS3 or CS4 products.
Hope this solution works as well for others as it did for me as the Adobe support on this issue has been next to useless.
[P.S. Q: Did you hear the joke about the guy who worked on product installation at Adobe rocking up at job interview with 'Adobe Installation Project Team' on his Resume? A: That that is the joke! If you wanted another job in installation development you would hardly admit to experience at Adobe ;)]

My apologies John I didn't realize that I was addressing the official custodian of Photoshop.
Incidentally my advice is intended for others in a similar situation who find themselves stalled during installation and otherwise contemplating a re-installation of Windows. I believe this would be obvious to most forum participants who had actually read my original post.
