CS3 and Leopard problems.

Just made the jump from 10.3.9 to 10.5.2. Problem is when I open old Illustrator 10 files in CS3 the page setup is comletely lost. I have to manually set it up in the print dialog box. I have tried many different print drivers for my HP, nothing works.
Printing from Illustrator 10 works fine.
Help please.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Leopard problem changing number values in the tools

I know that Adobe has mentioned on their site that this is a known problem and that the fix is going to come from a Leopard update. I have not seen anything on this problem from the Mac side so I am wondering when a fix can likely be expected. The Adobe link is http://www.adobe.com/support/pdfs/PhotoshopCS3_LeopardIssue.pdf
    Any clue?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
This is a user-to-user forum, so no one here works for Apple. None of us have any idea what they have running behind the scenes. I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait and see like the rest of us. It's against the Terms of Use of the Apple Discussions to speculate about unannounced or unreleased products, but the Macworld Expo starts in San Francisco in a little more than two weeks. In the past, Apple has released software updates at the same time as the expo to support new software and hardware. No one here can speculate if this will include the update you're looking for, however.

  • Problems with CS3 and Leopard

Having a bit of a nightmare with Indesign and Photoshop CS3 since upgrading to Leopard. Running a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 With 2GB DDR SDRAM. Anyone else having problems?

Below is the Adobe Marketing Line (copied verbatim). It's what I was told by Adobe Sales and what I read at Adobe.com, FAQ, before buying CS3 in October 07. Imagine my surprise when I discovered all of the issues with CS3 and Leopard, even after the update to Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional which promised full compatibility (see chart at bottom).
    Apple and Adobe... ARGH.
Oh yes, for all of the new suckers out there who are about to buy CS3 for their new Macs, the exact same FAQ is at Adobe.com, even now, Thursday, 12 Jun 2008.
ADOBE CREATIVE SUTIE 3 Frequently Asked Questions
Support for Mac OS X Leopard
    Q. Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to Creative Suite 3 customers?
    A. Yes, Mac OS X Leopardthe latest version of Apples operating systemdelivers an elegant,
productive new computing experience for creative professionals. Adobe and Apple have been
collaborating closely for months to ensure that Adobe Creative Suite® 3 applications can run
smoothly and reliably on Mac OS X Leopard. We are proud to support this impressive new
operating system, and to ensure that our creative customers can take full advantage of the
performance and value of using Creative Suite 3 applications and Mac OS X Leopard on
    Intel-based and PowerPC Macs.
    Q. Are Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications compatible with Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5)? If
some are not fully compatible today, when will they be compatible?
    A. Thanks to close collaboration between Adobe and Apple, most of the CS3 applications and associated technologies, such as Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, and Device Central CS3, are compatible with Mac OS X Leopard without requiring additional updates. However, the following CS3 applications will require updates for full compatibility with Leopard: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and our professional video applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3, and Soundbooth CS3. We expect to publish free Leopard compatibility updates for the video applications in December 2007 and for Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8 in January 2008. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2 of this FAQ.
    Q. Will older versions of Adobe creative softwaresuch as Creative Suite 2 and
Macromedia Studio 8 softwaresupport Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. While older Adobe applications may install and run on Mac OS X Leopard, they were
designed, tested, and released to the public several years before this new operating system became available. You may, therefore, experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution. Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Leopard. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2.
    Q. Will Adobe continue to test CS3 applications on Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. Yes. Adobe sets high standards of quality, stability, and reliability for our professional creative
products, and we have worked closely with Apple to test Creative Suite 3 applications on both pre-release versions and the final shipping version of Mac OS X Leopard. While this testing showed that most CS3 applications perform well on Leopard (and that others run well but need updates for a few identified issues), we recognize that other issues may unexpectedly arise on any new operating system. We plan to continue testing and to monitor user experience closely to address any such issues. If you encounter any issues, please report them by going to www.adobe.com/misc/bugreport.html and clicking Report
A Bug. Please note that we dont respond to submissions, but we do review them closely with the appropriate CS3 product teams.
    Q. Which CS3 applications will need patches to be compatible with Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. The following table summarizes compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard. It notes which CS3 applications require updates for full Leopard compatibility and when Adobe expects to release those free updates.

  • Colour Management Issue with PS CS3 and Leopard 10.5.2

    Hi Everyone,
Since I have installed Leopard I am having colour management issues with Photoshop CS3 and my Canon i9950 printer.
My screen is calibrated with a Spyder and I used to ask Photoshop (in 10.4.11) to manage colour when printing and used the Spyder profile. Everything came out as I saw it on screen.
Now in leopard when I do the same thing everything comes out too yellow on the print. If I ask Photoshop to let the printer manage the colour it is too red. If I use the default colour management (photoshop managing the colour and it choosing the colour space it is better, but still too yellow).
Photoshop gives the hint to turn off colour management in the printer but there is no option for this and it also said the same thing before of course (when it worked in 10.4.11).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    >It was working perfectly in Tiger with the monitor profile.
    You were lucky.
the monitor profile is so Photoshop can display your images correctly.
the working space is Adobe RGB, sRGB, BruceRGB, ect... these are all known color spaces so when the file goes to another computer there is a consistent color space for reference. If you use your monitor profile as a working space then nobody else knows what is going on with your file.
when you print you need to use the printer profile for the type of paper you are printing on this is supplied by the printer manufacturer. you can also have custom profiles made.
you need to read up on color management:

  • Round trip from Aperture to PS CS3 and back problem

Hi everyone; I hope someone can help me to solve this. I posted it before but the only suggestion I got was to check if the processed photo is not stacked under, which it isn't.
I have PS CS3 set as my external photo processing app (exports are PSD 16-bit 300 dpi) in Aperture 2.1.1. When I process the picture in CS3 and then save it(mind you I only SAVE, I do not do SAVE AS) as PSD (or TIFF) Aperture only shows me the original file in preview with the little circle informing me about the round trip to CS3. So the processed file does not show. Instead I only see two identical versions of the same photo or a layer from CS3.( I mean, I see the master and the version with the little circle).
If I save the work in PS CS3 as jpeg and then import into Aperture, it shows fine. When trying to import the processed and saved PSD and TIFF files, Aperture only shows the original file.
If it helps, I am working on layered pictures (HDR) where I use different parts of different pictures to get wide dynamic range. I export 3 or so photos from Aperture at once to CS3, process them into one, flatten the picture and save it.
And then Aperture just shows me the original file as version. I really need your help with this.
I have done this before 2.1.1 and it worked. Not sure if I have changed anything that might be causing this.
    Thank you for your ideas.

Ernie, the photos are captured by Canon XTi so they are in CR2, saved to my internal HD and then "loaded" to Aperture as referenced files.
As for PS CS3, I am not sure whether I have it set up as a scratch disk or not (if you could let me know where to check it).
Yesterday, I did yet another round trip and found out that when I finish in PS and SAVE and CLOSE, then the file shows up properly in Aperture. What I was doing before was I SAVEd if but did not close. Then I would SAVE AS in PS to make sure I have some kind of a version of the file if the one in Aperture fails to work.
So it seems I cracked it but I would still like to hear what you have to say, or anyone for that matter. It seems to me that the SAVE-CLOSE is crucial.

  • CS3 and Leopard

Anyone having problems? After installing Leopard I can't open InDesign CS3 - It tells me that there is a serious error. The rest of the suite seems OK.

Adobe software has never installed smoothly when there are entrails of previous Adobe installs hanging around on the system. To perform a clean install of CS3 i recommend you trash all Adobe applications and their support files and restart the computer before proceeding. If you've opened any of the apps before attempting to empty the trash you may have to restart before the files can be deleted without using force. In this case restart again after the trash has emptied. I prefer to perform repair permissions too, before and after the install.
Support files are located here (system and user):
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Important Note: Deleting support files will impact every Adobe application installed on your system including After Effects. Do not attempt this if you have other Adobe applications installed that you do not wish to reinstall at this time.

  • Mail and Leopard problem?

Mail is not shutting down properly since upgrading to Leopard... I know others have this problem but I have not seen a credible way of resolving. Any ideas while the Jobs team is hopefully (!!) trying to resolve? Thanks, Floor.
(while quitting Mail, window dissapears but Mail menu bars stays up and Mail is still active... need to use Force Quit to get it to go away).

This forum is dedicated to the productivity application, AppleWorks. It is not a "catch-all" for how Apple computers work. For you I suggest the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard > Mail and Address Book forum.

  • Sagem f@st 800 and leopard problem solved!

Hi to every leopard users! : )
i finally solved the black screen caused by sagem f@st 800 usb modem!
first of all get the lastest drivers here:
    http://lgsagem.free.fr/drivers_fast800.htm
    then just follow these steps:
before installing drivers keep network in the pref panel opened with preferences saved.
1-before connecting the usb open network in pref-panel
2-click on your connection (mine is ppoe service but i renamed it)
    3-save preferences (lock the padlock)
4-after saving preferences connect the usb to your mac!
i don' t know why everytime a turn on my mac the preferences are not saved i mean the padlock is open..well i finally understand that before connecting the usb i have to lock the padlock (everytime i find it open) and after doing this the usb works fine!!
also connecting and disconnecting it several times!
I really hope it works for you too! bye bye!

well it started giving me problem again...i really don' t know what could it be... so tomorrow i'll change the modem..that's the real solution...

  • Another photoshop CS3 and Yosemite problem

    Upgraded iMac to OS x 10.10.1 and now find that Photoshop CS3 (606) crashes after launch. It seems to make progress to the point where the menu bar is presented and then crashes. I've searched for others with this problem and tried various recommended fixes such as re-installing Java SE6, Java for OS X 2014-001, running the 'Reinstall Photoshop' utility . . . no change. Crash report includes;
    Crashed Thread:        15
    Exception Type:        EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes:       KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
    Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS3 and Mavericks problem?

Using photoshop CS3 in Mavericks and I get a ‘can't save file because it is already in use or was left open’ message when I try and save a photoshop file.
Found a fix online which is to turn off ‘Show preview column’ in show view options, but this is a pain because I like to have the preview with image and file info.
Is there a way around this, seems a strange way to get around this problem.

  • CS3 and Vista problems

    A few days ago I bought a new PC with Vista (MEDION® AKOYA® P36830
    Authentieke Windows® Vista® Home Premium, AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad Core (2,2 GHz), NVIDIA® GeForce 9600GT, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 500 GB Hard Disk).
Since I will use this PC for my graphical work I tried to install a trial version of Photoshop CS3.
But... I can't even install the program on the PC !
The setup starts but nothing happens anymore.
In the Task Manager I can see that the process is running but that is all.
I've tried to change the priority of the process to higher and lower with it wont install.
I have read the Tech Note: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb400950&sliceId=1 but even switching the RAM modules won't work.
Furthermore: NOT ONE ADOBE programm will install on this PC ! I have tried: Acrobat, Dreamweaver, InDesign...
Please what more can I do to get PS CS3 working before I buy the complete package ?
    Sincere thanks !
    Lambert

Lambert: There is a notice about the trial downloads on the opening page to the forums. EG: Don't do it right now.
Having said that, I'm running all the programs you are trying to install on Vista without a hitch. Doesn't solve your problem, but maybe something else is the problem.
What permissions do you have? Does your account have 'administrative'?

  • Powerbook G4 and Leopard Problems

I've had Leopard for over a month on my Powerbook G4. I went so far as to make a post here saying how smoothly the install went and that all was well. I spoke too soon. Yes, I rather like many things about Leopard and most things work. But little problems keep cropping up. I would guess that Apple did MUCH more testing with newer Intel machines before releasing Leopard, and much less with legacy machines like mine. Makes sense to put their resources where their new computers are.
Just tonight I found that iDVD does not work. It appears to load and I can create a new project, but nothing works beyond that.
Final Cut Pro works in almost all ways, thankfully, but Log and Capture will not work with HDV devices. Works fine with DV.
Leopard is very erratic about recognizing older Windows computers on my small office network. Does work perfectly with other Macs on 10.4 or later.
Before installing Leopard, I did backup all my data, of course. Should have done a mirror image so I could have gone back to very stable 10.3.9, but I did not. Going back is intimidating, especially since I cannot seem to find many of the old updater downloads on the Apple website now.
Are others having problems with Leopard on G4 machines?

    Thomas,
I installed Leopard on my PowerBookG4 about a month ago. So far, so good.
All of my Adobe apps work fine; Office 2004 works just fine; mail is ok. For a while, I thought the chronic Airport problems had gone away but I still have to work with some of my network express units from time to time. (Unplug & replug="work with"...then they reestablish their respective connections). Dropouts with iTunes (AirTunes) have not happened with Airport under Leopard. This is huge!
My printer drivers acted up at first but seemed to have mysteriously worked out the 'bugs' on their own.
If I had to criticize Leopard at all, I would say the only real disappointment so far is with repairing permissions. It takes far longer than it should. Finder is not as snappy as it was in Tiger...connecting to the .Mac servers is a little slow. (iDisk)
But all in all, I really like the new OS. I rebooted a few times to my Tiger clone (Thank you *_a brody_* for all your advice on cloning drives) when I had some issues with the printer drivers, but those issues are now gone.
iDVD works ok for me as well.
Stick with it...Leopard is good stuff!

Never seen such an error, but if it's in the status bar of the browser then it shouldn't be Flash problem. You can check what's happening in your swf by creating a dynamic text field and setting it's text in every major action, that is: requesting PHP and getting back response, to what's just happened.
So, on the Flash side you can see whether the browser error stops the PHP script and immobilizes further actions.
What I'd do is create a new Flash file and PHP file and just send 1 variable to PHP, change it somehow and send it back to Flash and print it in a text field. That way you can check whether it's the method you're using to request PHP or just PHP or something else. Step by step adding complexity and checking on which of these steps the error occurs.
    I wish you good luck.
Ps. It's probably a very rookie problem, we just don't know the source.

  • Flash CS3 and Filter problem

Ok. So I have a file that was originally created with Flash
    8. The file was opened in Flash 9 and published. The problem is
that the text that I have in there is being cut off when published
(publish preview only, The full publish works fine so far). I've
narrowed it down to being a problem with the filters that are used.
I'm using a basic drop shadow on the static text.
More specifically, when I publish using Flash 7, filters are
not supported and they are dropped out and the entire word shows.
When I publish in Flash 8 or 9 with filters turned on, the words
are cut off. For example the word "connection", when a filter is
applied, all that publishes is "connecti". The o and n are gone.
And if I change the settings on that drop shadow filter, the word
is cut off in a different place than before, sometimes cutting a
letter in half. When I delete the filter and publish in 8 or 9, the
entire word shows again. Also, I can edit the blurX or Y, or the
strength or distance and it will sometimes show the entire word.
But when I do this to other words, it creates a problem on those
words. If I then go and edit the settings back or to different
    numbers, cutoff happens once again.
This is very inconsistent and makes working with filters
difficult since I can't preview what I've done without doing a full
publish. I've converted the words to movie clips and so far have
not had the same problem, however, I don't want to add movie clips.
So this basically looks like a glitch with this new version of
Flash. I sure hope that someone at Adobe sees this post and might
    look into the problem.
I'm on an Intel based MacBook Pro. If anyone has run into
this problem, please let me know if you have found there to be a
solution rather than a work around. Thanks to Anyone who can help.
And once again, this only appears to be a problem when I do a
publish preview, not a full publish.
    Tobin

    Thanks; thats helpful.
What's going on is that the filter is being reused for your
    text instances.
Flash does automatic associations between frames to see where
    some objects
should be instances of or related to the objects in the frame
    before it. In
your case, since each of your frames have a single static
    text field in the
same depth (one spot above the jump in button), and since
    they all use the
same drop shadow filter with the same settings, Flash will
    reuse that exact
same filter for each of the objects in consecutive frames at
    those depths
assuming they are the same object. What this amounts to is
    the bounding box
for the first text+filter combination being used for all
    others. You can
see this more clearly if you move the "Love" text to be at
    the beginning of
the sequence and then test your movie.
What can you do? Here are a few options (though only a few
    may work in your
    situation):
    - include one frame between each text field
    - on every other text field, modify a property of the filter,
    either
adjusting the strength by a value of 1, changing the quality,
    or something
not visible but enough to make Flash recognize it as a
    different filter
    - in a layer under every other textfield place an invisible
    object. This
should force every other text field to be at a higher depth
    thereby
preventing Flash from assuming they are the same object as
    the one before
    it.
    - place each text field in a movie clip thereby separating
    the filters from
the same timeline (or, technically, just every other text
    field would be
    necessary)
    - change your text to dynamic text. These will be treated as
    separate
instances (or at least Flash will be wise enough not to be so
    static in its
application of the filter). You may need to be sure to embed
    your fonts for
    anti-aliasing
In the mean time I will officially log a bug. Though Flash is
    "technically"
doing what it thinks is best, its not working out very well
    for this case.

  • Cs3 and snow leopard spaces problem

    Hi,
Panic over about cs3, because even though Adobe is not supporting it, it seems to work ok. Touch wood. Hopefully I won't come across any annoying problems which affect my workflow. I want to wait for cs5 to upgrade.
A problem with spaces might be related to cs3 but might be a snow leopard problem.
If I drag an image over the photoshop icon, it opens that in the photoshop assigned space. If I then drag a file over the Illustrator icon, it opens it in the SAME space, not the Illustrator assigned space.
i think this is a snow leopard bug, has anyone else experienced it. It's annoying and if it is a bug hope apple fix it asap because it renders spaces useless. The whol epoint is for each app to stay in its own space not start overlapping again, causing me to have to minimise windows to see underneath.

Adobe CS 3 didn't place nice in Leopard's spaces so I think you are looking at an Adobe bug, not a new SL bug. Don't know if CS 4 does any better with Spaces or not. I'm seriously looking for alternatives to Adobe's software - they've taken on the same 'we know best - we are god' attitude Microsoft did in the mid 90s'
