CS3 and PowerPC Mac - can't get Photoshop CS3 to install

I'm using a PowerPC based Mac - OSX v 10.4.11. I tried to install the CS3 suite - some apps installed fine, some did not. Photoshop CS3 did not install. Now when I try to use PS CS2 quite a few features are missing, particularly in the filters menu. Has anyone seen this? Please help!

You almost certainly will have to remove CS3 from your System before you can re-install CS2. After you have installed CS2, you can then re-install CS3 in addition.
Use the Adobe Uninstaller and run the CleanScript as well for good measure.

One of our computers crashed and we had to replace the hard drive. Now we can't get Photoshop to open. Since the computer didn't give us any warning we didn't get to deactivate Photoshop before the crash. I've been on the Adobe site for over an hour getting run around in circles without getting even close to finding a solution. Apparently, there are no living humans at Adobe and their customer care department consists of this "community" and a lot of redundant web pages. Decent customer service would be a nice touch for such a big company.

Try removing the TWAIN plug-in and see if you can get it to at least start-up without problem. I have CS1 and evidently long ago deleted the TWAIN plug-in, but I believe it should be in the plug-in folder inside the application folder:
Mac HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS/Plug-Ins/TWAIN
This has worked in the past (which is no doubt why mine is missing).

Found this on Canon's site about Lion problems which doesn't sound too promising. It says they hope it's fixed by 4th quarter 2011 but that's past now.

If you do not own a license for CS5 there is not much you can do to get it thru Adobe. They only sell current versions of their software (CS6 or Creative Cloud). You would need to find a third party vendor and take your chances with them.
If you do own a CS5 license you can download the software thru the following page and use your serial number to activate:

Did you install it yourself are somebody else for you?
If you installed them yourself, but do not remember which AppleID you used, try all AppleIDs you might have used in turn.
If somene else set up your Mac for you, ask the person to reinstall it. If you bought the mac second hand, the previous owner needs to contact Apple to transfer the iLife apps. If that is not possible, delete the apps that you cannot update and buy them using your AppleID.

Do you have OS X and OS 9 installed on your Mac? If so, startup with the Option key depressed. This will open the Startup Manager window. Select the OS you want to start from & click the right arrow.

There is NO alternative. But iDVD is very easy to get.

Acrobat Standard has not been developed for Mac platform so Mac version is not available. It can only run on windows machine.

PSCS3 Mac: Can't get Applescript to open "desktop:folder:file.jpg"

I have Photoshop CS3 and am scripting a lengthy workflow, and part of it requires that I get Metadata out of files using Photoshop.
I can not get Photoshop to open a file. Once I have the file open, I can get the metadata out using UI scripting, but I have tried numerous approaches to open files and it has me stumped.
I am making it as a function that I can call from the main script which compares a new list of files with a list that is a few minutes old to determine which files are new and repeats with each file in the list. So the function will be getting a file name or a path.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got it! It needs to be an alias class path, and I had to concatenate the path incrementally before finally the whole path is in one variable I could coerce into an alias.
Of course, this is just one segment of the whole workflow.
