CS3 - Application has moved.

Hi all,
I installed CS3 on my desktop before I got rid of CS2 in my applications folder. (Just in case of problems) After replacing CS2 in the applications folder with CS3 from the desktop I got "application has moved" dialogue box for all the applications. I was able to repair all applications except Photoshop.
I thought I could go back to the installer and replace the current Photoshop CS3 in the applications folder. Problem is, the installer remembers the previous download location as the desktop, and doesn't ask for a download location.
Any assistance appreciated,
Dave.

Spam? Sorry if you're upset Bob, but I've got a few bones to pick with Adobe. I happen to believe that when I buy something with my very hard earned cash, it should work. Also, it should work properly.
If it doesn't work the way I am misled to believe it will work in the lavish product release seminars, I feel I have a right to be upset. True, I may have picked the wrong place to vent my spleen, but this is my first visit to the adobe forums and I'm not completely familiar with the protocols.
I do apologise if I have offended the undeserving, but I have witnessed some rather callous and rude behaviour here and some of the contributors deserve to be offended with a baseball bat.
Obviously kind hearted, genuine people asking logical, intelligent questions are belittled and admonished by idiots who can't suck hard enough to help adobe get away with lazy, incompetent, profit driven design. I'm appalled at the lack of compassion toward users who simply want a bit of quality and value for their money, and disappointed that some people are willing to make excuses for reprehensible corporate behaviour.
It reminds me of when I was at school and the worst types of kids would suck up to and lie for the bullies, only to be turned on in the end.
RE: We get it. You don't like it. If really really need/want to install
somewhere other than the default I suggest moving to Windows. You can
install anywhere you want there.
I already have windows and that sucks. Why let adobe degrade the Mac versions of it's apps to the piece of crap that is windows? Instead of canning those whole would like to have better control over their computers and the ability, as in my case, of condensing 270 apps into a couple of dozen folders, why not combine with them to actually achieve some improvement in the Software.
Adobe didn't become this big by providing excellent anything other than marketing.
Lots of Love, GB

  • Photoshop CS3 application has moved

I finally installed Photoshop CS3 last night for my Macbook. I installed in onto my external drive because I didn't have too much space, but I moved the application onto my internal drive when I realized that just Photoshop by itself doesn't take up that much room (Bridge, Device Central, and Stock Photos are still on the external). The only problem is, EVERY time I open Photoshop on my Macbook it tells me that the application has moved and that I need to repair some settings, then it asks for my keychain password. Why does it do this every single time? It's really annoying. Anybody know how to fix this?
    Thanks.
    -Gabe

    Dave,
That's what I figured too. I would love to reinstall Photoshop, but I just don't have the space for the other files and it didn't look like there was a way to just install P-shop without them. The funny thing is that whether I choose "repair" or "cancel" the program works fine. It's just annoying to see that dialog every time I open the program and would like it to go away. I don't understand how repairing it doesn't seem to do anything.
    Anyone have an idea?

  • Application has moved

I Installed CS3 on Lion and then moved all the app folders to another folder within the Applications folder. All aps (Flash, AI, Dreamweaver) presented a popup window saying "Application has moved" and needed repair. All showed this window only once except Photoshop, which shows it and asks to repair every time I open it. Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks.

How can there be two Applications folders? I know there is more than one way to get to the Applications folder but I never knew there were actually two independent Application folders. There is the one that is directly on the main drive, and the shortcut on the sidebar in the Finder. Aren't they both the same folder? If not, that is weird because I see the same exact programs in both locations.
Is there another location that I'm missing? You mentioned an Applications folder within my Home folder, but I do not have an Applications folder in my home folder. My home folder consists of Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public, and Sites.

  • "Application has moved" problem again

I am on a G5 PowerMac 2GHz, now running OS X 10.5.5, and there are some things about the new OS I really like, such as the print dialogues and the Dock Stacks. Which raises a previously-encountered problem: I made the mistake of placing my Adobe CS3 apps in a stack. Result: the old "Application has moved" dialogue box, which I ran into once before, when I tried to move Adobe CS3 into an Applications/subfolder AFTER installation. It can be done with absolutely EVERY OTHER APPLICATION ON EARTH EXCEPT ADOBE CS3.
There. Having said that, I seem to recall that there is a straightforward solution to the problem? A little more complicated than trashing the prefs, but not by much?

Simple solution... do not move Adobe applications from their original installation location.
If you wish, use aliases to configure a stack or subfolder.

  • Photoshop CS6 Application Has Moved Message

    Hello Folks,
I keep getting an application has moved message when starting Photo Shop CS6
I have attached a screen grab of the message here. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to keep it from happening each time I start up CS6?
My OS is OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4
I start up CS6 from my normal location which is the CS6 icon that resides in my dock.
if I select the update button, it has no effect, the application still gives me the same message each time I start up.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not quite understanding the process of the application being moved, can you clarify?…
It simply means that the OS or any other application or utility (installer, updater, cleaner tool, etc) cannot find the expected path to the application.
That can happen through a number of circumstances:
    • the user may have created a subfolder to move the Photoshop application  in a misguided attempt to "organize things", or have moved the whole Photoshop folder elsewhere or the root Applications folder, or renamed them; or
    • the user may have renamed the Hard Disk since Photoshop was installed (say from Macintosh HD to Harry's HardDisk); or
    • any folder or file anywhere in the path to the application has an illegal character in its name, say an apostrophe', asterisk*, slash/, backslash, pound or number sign#, dollar sign$, comma, period, dot, etc.. You should stick to underscores,  numbers and the letters of the English alphabet for naming files and folders); or
    • or the path may appear incomplete because any such folder or file may have become corrupted, damaged or accidentally deleted; or
    • the user originally chose a different install location from the default, or installed the application on a drive other than the boot drive (the one where the OS resides), etc.
The fact that you found all those files in your (hidden) ~/Library (user or home library) makes me suspect that the application has indeed been moved, simply because all the equivalent folders in my own ~/Library are all totally empty, i.e. there are no files in them.
The fact that they are still there on your Mac means that the Cleaner Tool was unable to find them and nuke them because it didn't expect them to be there at all.  That to me raises a red flag.
    jasdelta wrote:
…Can I safely remove all of those old folders before trying a new install? What IYO is the best way to proceed?…
The advice from me and others all along has been to re-install from scratch from the original media, so I see no reason why you should not nuke all those Adobe folders if you know how to do it safely, without messing with anything else in the hidden user library.
I have to stress that I'm still on Lion 10.7.5 and have no plans to move to ML 10.8.x on the machines that can run it.

  • PS CS4/ 'Application Has Moved' and 'Missing Plugins'

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded my OS from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I keep a clone of my OS/Apps drive on an external firewire. After upgrading the OS on my main drive, I initialized the OS/Apps drive and made a bootable clone of the main drive with SuperDuper. Now whenever I boot up Photoshop CS4 on either my main drive or clone drive, I get the following popup message:
I hit 'repair now' and photoshop continues to open. Before finally opening I get this popup message:
I then go to Help-->System Info but I can't really tell which plugins might be missing or why. All of the plugins that I installed manually from the software 'Content' disk are in there correct folders. I'm not sure why this is happening. It's quite disconcerting.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Application has moved: means what it says.
Plugins not loading -- you probably are running 64 bit and have some 32 bit only plugins installed.
The system info listing should be showing you which plugins couldn't be loaded (down near the bottom of the list).

  • CS3 has moved

My Photoshop CS3 suddenly tells me that "Application Has Moved" "This application has been moved from the location in which it was originally installed. Some settings need to be repaired." Then when I click on "Repair Now' it freezes, and I must Force Quite to use my computer. I have a Mac. The software was purchased from Computer Works in Seaside, CA and worked perfectly for many months. The software has not been moved from this computer. I tried reinstalling the software and still encounter the same messages. What can I do?

    >The software has not been moved from this computer.
The error message is not indicating that the software has been moved from the computer. It is indicating that it was moved to a location other than the default installation location. It should be installed to the Applications folder, not a subfolder of your Applications folder.
If the application has not been moved from its default installation location, try resettings the preferences (as noted in the forum FAQ). You might also uninstall using the Adobe CS3 installation tool, then reinstall Photoshop CS3.

The other day I was prompted to update itunes.  I started to, and it crashed my itunes.  Then I tried to uninstall itunes, so that I could turn around and re-install it again.  Now I can not install itunes.  I get Runtime Error! message. R6034.  For the last two hours I have  tried deleting itunes, moving the .dll files to the desktop, restarting the computer (more times than I can count), deleting the temp files, updating my internet explorer, using the fix it program,.....
The two messages that I am getting are:
Runtime Error! Program:c\Program Files (x86)\itunes\Tunes.exe     R6034   An application has made an attempt to load the c runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Also:  Service to 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Moblie Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services.

I too was getting the same message regarding R6034. After many frustrating hours I went to the iTunes support page and clicked on "install and update." When that page came up I scrolled on to "removing and reinstalling iTunes......" There they tell you what files need to be removed and what order to do it in so you can reinstall iTunes. My iTunes works now and I didn't lose any music.
About the Apple Mobile Device, well that's one of the files that has to be uninstalled. When you reinstall iTunes the Apple Mobile Device is automatically reinstalled.
Hope this works for you as it did for me. Warning: it takes about an hour to do all this.

  • CS3 suddenly has a startup error, cant find MFC71.DLL

Start CS3 normally, and suddenly get this error:
Adobe Photoshop CS3: Photoshop.exe - Unable To Locate Component (title bar
    of error dialog)
This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
    OK
I click on OK and CS3 starts, but with differences. Seems some of the
windows on the right are missing now. Bridge still runs fine, I can edit
RAW files from Bridge to ACR4.5, then open from that into Photoshop, then
convert and save the files. I don't seem to have a Layers palette now or a
    Tool Options palette.
I had just gone through and uninstalled a number of old applications. None
were Adobe programs though. Immediately after doing that, this error
    started.
I found MFC71.DLL, but putting it in the Photoshop installation folder
didn't help. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Hopefully without
re-installing CS3. I have also just discovered that my DVD rewriter will
not recognize the CS3 DVD, so doing a reinstall from the disk will require a
    new DVD drive first.
The Adobe updater works and I updated PS to 10.01, and still get that
startup error and have missing palettes.
    Thanks!
    Michael

It belongs in the Windows\system32 folder.
    I also have copies in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater and C:\Program Files\Adobe\CS3\Acrobat 8.0\Designer 8.0
All of the copies I found are version 7.10.3077.0

  • The application has unexpectedly quit???

    Hello,
I have been using iMovie, and iDVD for a few years now. Nothing fancy, just home videos, but I really enjoy it, and I feel very good when a project is done and I can share it with my family.
My most recent project is a group of iMovies based on the first 4 years of my middle daughter's life. I title each movie by year (1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993). Each movie has titles, transitions, soundtrack music, and "chapters" added, all standard iMovie stuff.
My problem is that this project will not work. The project starts out fine, just like always, with the little sideways barber pole spinning away, but when I come back several hours later to check on it, there is a window stating that the "application has unexpectedly quit" and asking me if I want to submit a report to apple. This has not happened before.
The first time it happened, I did all the things I have learned to do when iMovie tries to act up or give me trouble, specifically: I deleted the iDVDplist, I "repaired permissions", and I even ran "Cacheout X" and restarted my computer. But after all that, when I tried the project again, it "unexpectedly quit" again.
I don't know what to do now? I have read that many people have had trouble with iDVD chapters being placed at transitions. I thought this must be a problem with the new iDVD5, because I have always placed chapters at transitions (and at the very beginning of a project) and I have never had a problem before.
Since I don't know what else to do, I am going to go back and move the chapters around avoiding the beginning, and any transitions, and see if that makes a difference. Other than that, can anyone suggest anything else I could try?
Would upgrading to iLIFE '05 help? I actually own it. I have had the box sitting on my desk for months, but I have been reluctant to load it because of many of the problems that I have read about in these forums. In my case, iDVD4 has been working very reliably for me, and my thought was "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" Well, now it seems to be broken, so, should I try to fix it?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Lincoln

    Thank you David,
I appreciate your advise. As you suggested, I went back and moved all the chapters from each of the iMovies. I have never NOT placed a chapter at the very beginning of a project, and it seems strange for the "2nd" chapter to be listed as chapter #1 (since the first chapter "Beginning" is implied), but--- it worked!
It is hard to say exactly what worked, because I also created an entirely new project. It was an exact duplicate of the original project in every way (except for the new chapter locations), but I simply couldn't figure out how to "update" the original project after I made the changes, and I thought that making a new project would be the easiest thing.
So it is probably the chapter changes that fixed it, but perhaps there was some wierd problem with the first project. The other thing I was wondering about was that this project was less than 2 hours long, but not by much. When I looked at the "Status" section, I had used 3.8 of the available 4.0GB for video.
But the bottom-line is that I am very happy that the project is complete, and I continue to be amazed at the high quality movies and DVD's I am able to create with the iLIFE programs.
Now that this crisis is over, what is your opinion of iLIFE '05? Should I take the plunge and load it up, or keep working with programs that I am happy with? I must admit that I would love to have access to the new "THEMES" in iDVD, but as you can plainly see, I am simply not computer saavy enough to handle any of the new problems that I have read so much about in the iMovieHD, and iDVD5 discussion groups.
    Thanks again,
    Lincoln

  • The application (all adobe applications) has unexpectedly quit

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Adobe Cs3 Design Premium package. I don't know if i have the correct forum section.
I now managed to install this software correctly on mac osx but when i try to start one of the application they will all give me the very same error message!
"The application (all adobe applications) has unexpectedly quit
A crash report has been generated. To provide us with the best chance of fixing this problem, please select Continue to add a detailed description that includes the steps required to reproduce the crash."
Adobe will use this crash report to help find a future solution to this problem.
I had 512mb but upgraded it later to 2gb. Mac OSX is installed on a pc machine.
Does anyone know this issue? and what can i do about it?
    I really appreciate any help,
    Jasper Bakkker

    Hi Hugo
    1. Do You have upgraded QuickTime to v.7 if not don't, else downgrade to
        6.5.2
    2. Do You have enough free space on Your hard disk eg 20Gb recommended
    3. Do You start Your projects from within iMovie with the function
Share/Export to iDVD. I don't. I use the ref. movie in the project
folder/icon and close iMovie so that only iDVD is running
    4. Do You do other thing during DVD-processing. Don't.

Hi. the email application has been removed from my ipad. I don't have back up so how can I get it back?

It is not possible to remove the Mail app (or any other of the bundled apps) from the iPad. It's probably been moved to another Home screen or inadvertently placed in a folder. If you can't find it, you can reset the Home screens in the General -> Reset preferences.
