You can get this type of effect if you're using Alpha Channels in CS, CS2 etc. Did you by any chance save the image with an additional alpha channel?

Photoshop CS3 beta + Aperture problem

Is anyone having any trouble with photos in Aperture that were altered in the new PS CS3 beta?
I sent a photo to CS3 and added a few adjustment layers and when I saved, the thumbnail in Aperture appears as if it's inverted... like a negative. And the full screen version is much higher contrast than the PS version. Exporting a jpg shows the same problem. However, when I open that same image in PS again (using the open in external editor command), everything shows as fine.
Possibly just a bug since CS3 is still in beta?

Lightroom, Photoshop, PS CS3 beta

I used to cleaner to remove Photoshop CS3 beta after inadvertedly deleting by dragging. The licensed version of PS CS3 is installed but apparently there are a couple of bits and pieces of the beta still around because when I click on Develop>Photo>Edit in Photoshop CS3.app it brings up the beta screen. Is there any way to change the location of this menu item manually? In other words, can I select the true app somehow?

If I recall correctly, Adobe has made available an uninstaller for the beta that is required to get rid of it correctly. You might go over to the Photoshop forum and look around. I'm not sure what to do in your situation where you deleted incorrectly. But that forum may have hints as to what to do.

IPhoto, Photoshop CS2 or CS3 beta?

I asked here earlier if iphoto can change the color of peoples eyes and received the response that iphoto is primarilly a final stage editing tool.
therefore im asking which is better... this should be answered by those who have used either/or both...

All i want to do is simply make photos better. photos of friends and family. adjustments like changing or making eyes a lighter color, things like that.

I've been using the beta since it's been out and have had no problems at all. It's so much faster in loading and running than CS2.
But Terence is exactly right about PS Elements. PSE can't work with CMYK files but that's pretty much specialized for professional printing. For the general user it does everything we could want. Here's one example of the advanced capabilities.

Using a RAID as a CS3 beta scratch disk

I recently set up a RAID in my Mac Pro, creating it with the OSX Disk Utility. It functions fine as a faster, larger storage space. But when I try to select it in CS3 beta as my Photoshop scratch disk, it does not appear in the list of drives available.
CS2 does use it as a scratch disk, but the beta appears stuck in using the system disk.

I don't know of any reason wh the CS3 besta won't select your RAID set as a scratch drive so, I would suggest you contact Adobe through their bug reporting system and see what happens.
FWIW, given my boot drive is a RAID set CS3 beta does seem to work with it without issue.

Can't update device package for adobe DC in cd photo shop CS3 beta)

i've installed device central from CD Photoshop CS3 BETA ,
the problem is i can not install new device package for the file
that download from net , and it always shown ( the file update is
too new for this version of adobe device central ).... somebody

I am pretty sure that the Device Central that came with
Photoshop CS3 BETA is different from the official release of Device
Central that comes with CS3 products.
I had Photoshop CS3 BETA and DC working. Then I bought a
licenced copy of Flash CS3 and Device Central. The new device
package installed perfectly on the newer version of DC. However,
now that I have installed the new Device Central, I can't launch DC
from Photoshop CS3 BETA—it gives me an error.
That said, DC works great—with the update—but
only via Flash CS3 (or some other official launch product).

Rosetta, CS3 beta ???s

I've read about CS2 not running "natively" on the MBP Intel Core Duo, leading to sluggish performance, in fact I am experiencing this. Although I am not cure exactly what might be causing the problem, based on other posts it is likely I guess. I am running a 1.83ghz, 1.5 gb ram.
Someone from my thread (down below a few) mentioned installing the CS3 beta which works better.
I am not a technophile, so can someone please tell me where to look to learn more about "Rosetta"? I don't know what this is.
Also, I have been searching around the Adobe site for a CS3 beta upgrade, but cannot find it. Does anyone know where that might be?
Are betas generally safe to install?

It depends on what you mean by "safe". The beta of Creative Suite 3 is unlikely to cause problems with your system overall, but this is most definitely a beta. It has bugs and problems, known and unknown, so you should not attempt to use this for any sort of production work (in fact, I strongly recommend that you not even install it on any system on which you depend for your daily business). Nor should you use it on the only copy of any important image; it's entirely possible that the image could be irretrievably corrupted. Work only with copies of your images.

Probleme mit CS3 beta

Hallo,
ich habe Probleme bei der Installation von Photoshop CS3 beta. Leider kann ich die Lizenz nicht akzeptieren da ich keinen ok button habe. Ich weiß leider nicht weiter, habe ich schon meinen Windows installer aktualisiert.

So ganz genau kann ich es nicht nachvollziehen. Aber nachdem ich das Programm
mit dem Task-Manager geschlossen habe, anders wollte es nicht.
Und das Programm neu geöffnet habe hat es wieder funktioniert. Möglicherweise
war mein PC ein wenig Durcheinander durch die 40 updates, obwohl ich mehrere
Neustarts gemacht hatte.
Vielen Dank für die Hilfe.
Ich hätte aber noch ein 2. Problem.
Mein Haupt-PC, ich habe 2, hat seinen Geist aufgegeben und ich würde gerne diese
verlohrene Lizenz für mein Laptop nehmen, habe aber keine Ahnung wie.

Is flash 8 pro or flash cs3 better

I am about to buy either flash 8 or cs3 so can some one help
me. Now i have used both trials and noticed flash cs3 had better
grapics design but flash 8 i mainly used action script and noticed
it had a bar to the side that told what each script did and when
you put in the script a bar came up and help you fill in the action
script and i was wondering if flash cs3 had that same feature
because im still new at flash and action script. If you can help me
i will be grateful.

Is CS3 better for working with RAW images than Elements 6?

Hi all,
I am trying to find out if it is worth buying CS3 in stead of elements 6. Surprisingly, nobody has been able to tell me what the difference exactly is.
The best I got so far was that elements is a trimmed down version of CS3 but what more can I do with CS3?
As I am in England, CS3 would cost me about $1100, as opposed to $650 in the US, which is a bit much if you don’t know exactly what you get for that amount.
It says something on the adobe features section about BETTER raw processing, but not compared to what. Old version? Other software? Better than nothing?
I will be running it under XP, and the only use will be to optimise images from a digital camera in RAW format, 90%, and a jpeg (10)%, partially for web use, partially for prints.
The most common things are:
Correcting exposure when pics are unevenly lit.
Correcting color temperature.
Removing unwanted parts of a picture e.g. somebody stepping into the picture, advertising signs or copyrighted material.
Altering color of small parts of an image like that of a single flower in a bouquet.
Removing blemishes in portraits.
The photos will always stay single photos, I can not foresee any use for slide shows, animations, video or anything related.
From what I have been able to find out so far, it seems that Elements 6 will do all this and I don’t need to spend the extra $1000, or should I?

I have not used Photoshop Elements since version 2.0. In that version it was very similar to Photoshop as far as how the interface was designed. There were a few key elements that were missing such as the Curve adjustment. It is my understanding that there is a free download available from a third party source that will provide that capability.
As far as Camera Raw is concerned, you only have the adjustments that are on the basic panel and the details panel. That means you don't have all of the hue/saturation/luminance adjustments, or lens correction, or the capability to create presets, or to calibrate ACR specifically for your camera. As I understand it, it is not possible to load multiple images into ACR so that you can apply changes to all of them at once. And I don't believe you have the option of working in ACR in 16-bit mode.
With Photoshop Elements it is not possible to record actions to enable you to do batch processing of your images. What you have is a good quality basic single image photo editor.
I cannot tell you which to purchase. I don't know what you are accustomed to, nor do I fully understand your expectations. There are trial versions of both programs that you can download and try for 30 days to see what you think. They are fully functioning programs for that trial period, which should be ample time for you to determine which program will give you the most value.

How are you saving your script?
If you save it as a simple application, it will be listed as PowerPC.
If you save it as an Application Bundle (the preferred format), it will be universal.
In any case, the universal nature of the app is only part of the equation. Also important is the arcitecture of the other apps you're targetting.

CS3 better for color corrections

I am a professional retoucher and image editor.15 plus years. I work exclusively in Photoshop.
The Adjustment layers in CS4 have too many changes and eliminated features.
1. An Adjustment layer with in a layer set with layer set mask. Disables the numeric read out of placed color samples in the info palette!
2. No way to cycle points on a curve!
Why? Why? Why?

In CS4:
1. Have you got the Mask targeted or the Layer Set folder itself?
and
2. Use the Plus and Minus keys to cycle through points on a Curve in CS4.
Also investigate the TAT ("Pointy Finger" tool) in the Adjustments panel.

DW CS3 Refusal to Install - No Beta Use! (WinXPsp2)

I have tried and tried again to install DW CS3 on WinXP SP2
with no results. I have never used the CS3 betas as this is a
production machine. Every time, it only installs the Shared
components and then fails to install Dreamweaver.
I still have DW8 installed, but based on what I read here,
that does not seem to be an issue.
Based on what was stated about this error being related to
the CS3 beta, and my inability to find any other suggestions, I ran
Adobes CS3Clear program and tried again. Same problem.
Any help on this would be most appreciated.

When you say "every time, it only installs the Shared
components and then fails to install Dreamweaver..." I think there
is some components that you tried to install on your Windows, and
it could be a problem with Installer app and Windows.
I would think that you probably want to do a complete
uninstall of all Dw CS3 components still sitting on your hard
drive. You might want to take a look at Dreamweaver CS3 online help
or Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 online tech support to address this issue.
I think it is possible the factor that contribute to your ongoing
problem not able to install your Dw CS3 app effectively.

What is better for AEFX CS3 to run unbelievably?

I'm looking at buying a new PC to run After Effects CS3 better and I was wondering what is the best route to go. Should I get a machine with more processors or should I get more Ram. Would a graphics card make a huge difference and which is a better one to use? Keeping in mind that I'm going to be running Avid Liquid on the same machine and it works best on gaming cards. I have tried a fancy workstation graphics card before but Avid didn't run nicely with the motherboard that it needed.

Well, does it run on Vista 64bit? If not, then it's gonna suck and you will be stuck with XP or Vista 32bit, making any considerations regarding a "perfect" system kinda pointless. In that case you could simply buy any recent dual core/quad core/ AMD Phenom system, but never even max them out due to being stuck with 4GB RAM at most, of which AE then could use 3GB. Certainly still kinda usable for lighter stuff, but you can forget about multiprocessing and every time you realyl push the limits, you will find yourself hating your life when once more you run ouzt of memory to render some elaborate effect. Similar considerations would apply, if you ever paln on using Dynamic Link. Quads only really show their muscles for intense work and lots of final rendering. As one last thing: If you get a new machine and want to use MP rendring, consider upgrading to CS4. Thoise features have been considerably refined there.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Bridge

I finally succeeded installing photoshop CS3. My problem now is Bridge is buggy the only mode that I can use is light table,when I change modes the interface breaks up and I have small broken up ikons every time I try to get a thumb nail to open. Photoshop seems to be ok. Lightroom works great and I never had any problems with PS CS2. CS3 beta worked great.

Adobe forums have some tips on installation and upgrade, as does MacFixit. Sometimes just a matter of cleaning the cache folders is all.
