CS3 Bridge on OS X: Find - no items to display - the long, painful fix

Moved this post from the Elements forum in the hopes of more useful replies. Recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 4.0 on OS X to Photoshop Elements 6.0 on OS X. The 'find' dialog box does not work - which is to say that it returns no results despite various search strings - in Bridge CS3. This is the sort of crippling defect that will make me request a refund from Adobe. I'm cross-posting this with their support group to speed things along. Steps that I have taken. 1. Install PhotoShop Elements 6.0 on OS X. 2. Open Bridge CS3. 3. Help - updates 4. Install all updates. Current version of Bridge: 2.1.1.9 Current version of OS X: 10.5.5 5. In Bridge, navigate to a folder with JPG files in it. 6. Edit - Find Set options to Filename Contains JPG 7. Shows "No items to display" 8. Press back button 9. Edit - Find Set options to File Size is greater than or equal to 0kb 10. Shows "No items to display" 11. Press Back. 12. Reset all options and clear cache, per http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=331083&sliceId=1 13. Restart Bridge 14. Attempts steps 5 through 11. No difference 15. Uninstall Bridge 2, using AppDelete on OS X. Not many here (including me) use Elements and even less can understand crash reports.
Can you confirm that:
-The folder containing jpeg files are viewable in the finder and can be opened in PSCS3?
-You did give Bridge the time to let it cache its contents?
-You have installed Bridge to the application folder, in the user library cache folder there is a folder called Adobe, inhere there should be a folder called Bridge CS3 and this one contains a folder called cache?
I would suggest that you quit Bridge and move this folder manually to the trash. This will be replaced with a fresh folder after restarting Bridge.
Point Bridge to the folder and first let it cache its contents and then try again with the find option. Could you report back on this?

Hi,
line item reports FBL1N/FBL5N are reading the line items (wow, what a big surpise ) and displaying information on line item level.
As the vendor/customer name is NOT stored in the line items, you cannot display this in the lines (along with other item level information., like amount, posting key, doc.type, etc.). You may find a field called "Name 1) in the field catalog when configuring the ALV layout but this is empty for normal customers/vendors. It is only filled in for one time (Cpd) customers - the reason is as explained above: for these special accounts, the name IS stored on line item level (it varies from item to item),, that's why it can be read and displayed in the items.
Now how about normal customers/vendors?
You have to activate Business Transaction Event 1650 and implement a simple code so that depending on the account type (D = customer, K = vendor), you get the business partners name from table KNA1 / LFA1 and put it into field Name1.

Click list item and display the image

I have a database table:
+ One column includes names of the employee
+ Another includes the path of the file of corresponding employee's images
I have added all the names into a JList
Now, what I want to do is that: When I click on the item in the list, the image of the employee corresponding to the item will display in the frame.
Could any of you help me?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to change the list title to an image.
I recommend to add the code below to the list page:

Error when deleting file: Could not find this item. This is no longer located in ...

We are setting up a new Windows 2012 server. Users access this server using a 'terminal services'. We have mapped some folders from a legacy server (different domain). Using group policy preferences, we map this folder as a drive for a user.
When user wants to delete some files, he get's the error: 'Could not find this item ..' The error is displayed to the user and it looks like the file can't be deleted. But when I press the F5 (refresh) button, the file is gone. My problem is very similar

When I create 'txt' (or 'pdf', 'zip') file, i can delete it without the error. When I create 'xlsx', 'docx', 'pptx', 'bmp', 'jpg', I get the error.
Does somebody have an idea, how can I fix the cause of this problem? (I can't tell to users to hit the F5 button everytime when they face this issue)

Ability to use Adobe Photoshop Album tags in CS3 Bridge

I currently have 15,250 photos and 155 tags entered in Adobe Photoshop album. I would like the ability to convert, import or somehow use these tags in CS3 Bridge without reentering everything. PLEASE!

I have a snow server resharing a folder on an xsan volume via AFP and SMB.
Windows 7 clients trying to copy files from the share are getting the error "could not find this item" "This is no longer located in... Verify the item's location and try again."
Any ideas?

I'm having exact the same problem with a file with a long name, to delete, move, rename, attribute change, etc. I deleted the file, which I receive the confirmation. However, the file is still there, with zero bytes and no extension. When I try
to delet, move or change the file, I get the error "Could not find this item, This is no longer located in xxx. Verify the item's location and try again."
I tryed everything: Using DOS, there's no 8.3 name format; In safe mode; chkdsk and sfc. Nothing worked.

Make Searching in CS3 Bridge more like searching within Photoshop Album

For example, in Photoshop album if I wish to see photos that contain BOTH "Tag1" and "Tag2", I click on these two tags and only those photos that contain BOTH of these tags appear.
In Bridge CS3 if I click "Keyword1" and "Keyword2", I see every photo that contains all of these individual keywords. What if I only want to see those photos that contain BOTH "Keyword1" and "Keyword2"?
Please make seraching within CS3 Bridge more like Photoshop Album.

If you click on the match box "all criteria met" seems like that should work as you want.

Having problems saving a processed photo in CS3 & bridge

I have all of a sudden encountered a problem that when I process a photo in CS3 bridge and try to save it (no matter where) the photo reverts back to its non processed form. I then have to go back and reopen it in bridge, click on the default and then click done on the bottom of the screen.

exact terms and steps you've followed. For instance:
>Get image from card into bridge.
How? What does this mean? Are you working off your memory card?
>Open bridge make corrections and then save it to a folder on my desktop.
What kinds of corrections? Is this still a .jpg file?
>The photo is corrected when it enters the folder
How does a photo "enter" a folder?
>In order to get it back to the processed image i have to click on the default button on the bridge raw screen everytime I reopen the image.
What "default" button? What does it say? Where is it?
>When I reopen in bridge or photoshop the image looks as it did before it was processed.
But how does it look in or print from Photoshop? Are the raw editing sliders in their default positions or are they as you've set them?
Etc.

Remove name of the item on display!!!

I have created a text item and when I show it the name is display above the content of the item. I don't want the name of the item to be display. How can I remove that??.
There is also a line that is display between the name of the item and its content, I couldn't remove it either I just change the color to the color of the page background. How can I remove that to??

You are right, it is not so easy to find, where you can display the attributes of items: As I know, you can only change it in the folderstyle.
Go to your content area folder, where you inserted the item and edit the style of this folder. You get a tab 'Folder Layout'. Here you can edit the regions of the folder and choose the attributes to be displayed or not and also their sequence.
The only porblem is, you make this settings for all items in this region. As I know, you are not able to say it for a special item, so that one item in the region has displayname and an other in the same region not.

Inbound Invoices (EDI 810) with multiple items that are the same keys.

One of our Vendors just started sending us 810's that have multiple items with the same P.O., Delivery, P/N, Price, etc. The reason is that they (and we) track inbound batches for the purpose of traceability, so the only difference between items on both the invoice and inbound delivery is the batch number.
SAP will not allow the automatic creation of an SAP Invoice with these conditions. The error message is M8321 - 'Document contains same order item more than once'.
SAP Note 103051 says it cannot be done, and you must "Deactivate the billing of the batch sub-items in SD Customizing" in order to have an Invoice created that combines all items into one.
Does anyone know how to do that?

Nevermind. Fixed the problem. Two menu items both began with the letter S. Added an & before the second letter of the second menu item and now the problem is fixed. First items hotkey is S and the second items hotkey is now h (which is the second letter of the 2nd menu item).

I did see the ability to flip between the two levels of the data. However, that isn't the same thing as what could be done previously, and what I used to do/the functionality I'd like back.
Flipping back and forth between the two sets of pages makes it harder for how I worked because I make extensive notes about the contacts in the notes field. I need to see those notes to know if I want to move that contact to another group. So you would need to constantly flip back and forth when before it was just scrolling a list and dragging the contact when you saw one that needed to be added to a group.
Bottom line is without the third "window" or view to all three levels of the data open at the same time, much of what I need to do is very difficult now.
I don't have a small screen, and would like to be able to use it. I don't like the idea of having limits imposed and having to work around what used to be there. That is going backwards, not forward.

Mac CS3 Bridge - Keywords subfolders -unableable to create

I just reinstalled my CS3 Photoshop/ Bridge on my iMac computer. Had to replace the hard drive. I open bridge to add keywords for images . However when I want to add a subfolder(s) to the top level keywords folder it will not give me the option to make a subfolder within it . It only will allow me to add a keyword to the main folder. Example of what i use to be able to do : Top folder 'People', then sub folder 'Costume' , then keyword 'Fairy' or Keywords/People(folder)/Costume(subfolder)/Fairy(item). I use be able to do this, but now I can only add 'costume' and 'fairy' to the main people folder or Keywords/People(folder)/costumes(item) ,,, Keywords/People(folder)/fairy(item)? When I click and choose 'people' and then click the icon to add a keyword folder as a subfolder it jumps to the main directory and adds it to the first layer list and not as a sub folder. Any one know what to do ?

I'll play around with CS3 to see if I can make out what this "keyword subfolder" business means and report back.
Tai, just open the keyword panel and with the tiny menu top right choose create keyword and name it 'test', hit OK. With the new keyword selected again choose the same menu but now sub keyword. There should be appearing a nested folder in the newly created keyword 'test', and if you fill inhere 'test2'.
Now you have a new keyword 'test' with a triangle in front stating there is a subfolder nested, this would be 'test2'
Same can be applied with right mouse click menu.
It is a very easy way of finding back files, chronological order is very nice but after 15 years its so hard to remember what you have photographed but when it was makes it a lot more challenging...
Using keywords in a logical sense makes this job very easy. Adding a new keyword is only needed once and after this selecting the files you want to have it, put a checkmark in front of the wanted keyword and it saves to the file.
Using any search application like Spotlight (Ai, sorry about that, I mean of course Easy Find for you... ) or a DAM application, or even Bridge should make it a job of seconds to find the files with the applied keyword amongst the thousands of files saved on your system

Find returns "No items to display

I added keywords and ratings to all my files. But now when I go to edit/find and do a search I always get "No items to display." I check to search the folder and all subfolders. Using Bridge CS3.

Make sure you have the box checked that says 'include non-indexed folders'. It appears on my system that is necessary to get any results. The screen then says indexing ----- .

Opening Camera Raw file in CS3 Bridge

I have CS3 Bridge and CS3 Dreamweaver instaled as well as Photoshop CS2.
I want to open Camera Raw files in CS3 Bridge. The Bridge Help file says:
"Select 'Edit Camera Raw Settings' in Bridge General Preferences to open Camera Raw dialog box in Bridge" (as opposed to opening in Photoshop.)
But my Bridge General Preferences has no such checkbox option. When I open a CR file in CS3 Bridge, the file opens in Photoshop CS2.
How do I get the file to open in CS3 Bridge.

I had a problem with this previously and came up with the following:
If I am in Bridge and double click a JPEG or TIFF and hold down the shift key, Camera Raw will not be scheduled
If I am in Bridge and double click a JPEG or TIFF image, the image will always schedule Camera Raw if the Bridge menu item Edit/Preference/Thumbnails has Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG and TIFF checked (Bridge JPEG and TIFF Checked).
If I am in Bridge and double click a JPEG or TIFF image and Bridge JPEG and TIFF is unchecked and the JPEG or TIFF image has previously been processed by Camera Raw, Camera Raw will be scheduled if Camera Raw Preferences dialog has Always open JPEG files with settings using Camera Raw or Always open TIFF files with settings using Camera Raw checked.
If I am in Bridge and double click a TIFF image and the TIFF file has layers, the TIFF file will not schedule Camera Raw.
In Photoshop Preferences (Edit/Preference/File Handling) there is a check box titled Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG files. I checked the check box and opened a JPEG image in Photoshop Camera Raw was scheduled. I clicked Open Image in ACR and then saved the image in Photoshop (JPEG saved in Photoshop after passing thru ACR). I then Unchecked the check box and opened the JPEG file Camera Raw was not scheduled.
The only action I see for the Photoshop File Handling check box is to either schedule or not to schedule JPEG images. I do not see any related action for TIFF files in Photoshop. My expectation is that TIFF files will open in Photoshop not ACR.
