CS3 Bug

Has anyone else experience this. Open your site in CS3 then
on the right Files pallet, try to collapse all the folders. As you
are collapsing them others expand automatically.

Yes, I have seen this.

  • InDesign CS3 bug for "Edit Original"

    Hi,
I have laid out an InDesign document with lots of photos (JPG), with each frame showing the photo at a certain 'crop level' (or % scale relative to the original photo). Let's say I have a frame in which the photo is scaled at 20%. If I try to edit this ('Edit Original') in Photoshop to enhance it, after making changes and saving & closing it, I return back to InDesign. I find this photo to be entirely different scale (the one chosen by InDesign is totally random, and certainly not the original one (so in the example above it will be not 20%, it could be 38%, 48% or whatever, but not the one I had before I started editing the photo).
This is very annoying as I have to remember how the photo was set up in the frame, and fix it after finishing the editing step.
Does any one know if this is a known bug and what is the work around to this problem?
The whole reason for me to use InDesign was to be able to layout my pages perfectly and then edit only those photos that were selected. This bug is making my life miserable :-(
    Thx for any help/Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
I think the "mystery" is solved. The problem occurs ONLY on the portrait photos, and because of the peculiarity of various SW programs (even though they are all from Adobe). I can now recreate the scenario at will, even for a smaller test document with 1 image.
This is what I have discovered so far. InDesign does have the dimensions from the original photo (that's why it will keep the correct settings regardless of how many times you make changes to the ID document or move/resize the rectangle 'linking' to the picture). The problem comes from the fact that photoshop changes some of the EXIF tags "logically".
EXIF tags (I am showing only the relevant ones) for the original photo are the same as the one 'exported' from Photoshop Elements 6.0. They are as follows:
    Orientation : Rotate 90 CW
    XResolution : 72
    YResolution : 72
    ResolutionUnit : inches
    ExifImageWidth : 3888
    ExifImageHeight : 2592
Software : Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
Note that my actual photo is in the 'portrait' mode, so width should be 2592 (smaller) and height should be 3888 (larger) - but the orientation of "Rotate 90 CW" is read and honored by InDesign, so I did not need to 'manually' rotate it when placing the file. Now I set the scale to 10% because my rectangle was small. When exporting the photo from my album, the Software tag was attached by PE6.0 as you can see above. In my original camera based file, this tag was missing, but otherwise everything is was same.
AFTER I edited the photo in Photoshop to change its shadows/highlights, levels, etc. when I saved the photo, EXIF tags became:
    Orientation : Horizontal (normal)
    XResolution : 72
    YResolution : 72
    ResolutionUnit : inches
    ExifImageWidth : 2592
    ExifImageHeight : 3888
Software : Adobe Photoshop CS3 Windows
So, you can see that Photoshop changed the orientation to "normal" and also adjusted the Width and Height to support that orientation (I did not notice that quickly enough:-().
What is strange is that, instead of maintaining my scale at 10%, after 'updating the modified link', InDesign changes the scale to 15% (if you do the math, the original horizontal dimension of 3888 is exactly 1.5 times the new dimension of 2592!) so it must keep the link information in some other way that it recomputes to be 15%. BTW, the X & Y values of the placed image were also multiplied by 1.5. That's how I was seeing the changed scales, as well as X, Y values after updates. The net orientation of the photo is not affected (at least for the photos from this camera), but it could as well.
I am much happier that at least I understand the problem! This of course supports all of you who were recommending to 'prep' the files before you start. I'd also add that don't just prep them with any batch tool, but do it with the tool that you are going to use to edit. BECAUSE...
This problem can occur any time I mix and match my editing software. I am going to check the behavior of LightRoom (since I have just got it, I am not as comfortable to work with it as Photoshop - and of course the styles of these 2 products are very different). I have never used the Camera Raw 4.5 (or 5 that comes with PS CS4), but will have to be careful about that too.
    Regards,

  • DW CS3 bug

<gripe>I first tried to post the message below via this
    NG but was
bounced back first because the attached PHP file was over
    10k, then
again after I zipped it because binaries aren't permitted. I
    then tried
posting it via the DW web forum, including the PHP code, but
    when but
    when I hit submit I got a 404 - D'OH!! This happened twice,
    after which
I gave up and came back here. I've now spent over 30 minutes
    trying to
post this report, and really wish I hadn't bothered. Pull
    your corporate
    fingers out, Adobe ;-\ </gripe>
For info, my copy of Dreamweaver CS3 crashes regularly when I
    open the
attached PHP script [couldn't attach due to size - will email
    on
request] in Design View and try to select either of the
    forms. Even if I
try to edit the <form> tag in Code View DW crashes.
    Hell, DW crashes if
I just click the insertion point in any part of the document.
    The
cursor goes to an hourglass, hangs for 10 secs, then the
    application
bombs out. This is consistently replicable. This didn't used
    to happen
in the previous DW version as I created this script in that.
    It doesn't
occur on some other form-containing PHP scripts I've tried.
    I'm running
DW CS3 v9 build 3481 under Windows eXtra Pathetic with all
    SPs
    installed.
And yes, I have restarted the machine. Twice. No, I'm not
    going to
reinstall DW. I expect that the script is too long for DW,
    and that
there's been a memory overflow. I dare say that I could move
    the
functions into a library, but I like to write my scripts on
    the basis of
application need, not to fit in with editor limitations.
No big - I'll use a proper script editor like Notepad++ to
    edit the
file. Luckily my copy of DW was bought under an educational
    discount -
had we paid full whack for it then I'd really be complaining.
    Version 9
of a mature application should not crash like that.
    Cheers

Thanks for the tip. Yes, it does sound like that bug, and
    deleting the
offending .dat file seems to have worked. However, I'm still
    narked that
    such a mature product - CS3 is DW v9 - has such a stupid,
    basic bug in
it. Still, as I've not paid full whack for it I'll not
    complain to
Adobe, but I'd be livid if I'd shelled out over £300 of
    my own hard-
earned cash for this product. If not for the site management
    features
I'd not bother with DW and use Notepad++ or similar, but I
    unfortunately
find that feature such as automatic fixing of links when I
    move
files/folders is essential. Perhaps I ought to look at Nvu a
    bit
    closer...
I'll stash your message away for reference, particularly for
    the bug
report URL. Thanks again, and sorry for being such a grump :(

  • CS3 bug identified. Will it be fixed?

I am excited to upgrade to CS3, but I am experiencing an issue that is not present in the previous version. The program crashes when trying to render the audio previews of a nested timeline. The error looks like this:
    Premiere Pro Debug Event
    "[..\..\Src\AudioRender\StackAudioBuffer.cpp-58]"
This is not a problem in version 2.0. I simply cannot upgrade to CS3 until this has been fixed......Will a patch be released? I found a user forum where someone else had the same problem. This is what he wrote:
"I can continually reproduce this audio bug. Whenever I use a "constant power" audio transition on a stereo clip with a "fill left" filter applied that is at the end of one of the adjoining clips, I get an error about a audio stack problem. I can reproduce this all day and night. Simply remove the audio transition and it works until I hit the next transition that does not have any overlap on one side"
The timeline I am trying to render has many occurrences of what he is explaining, so it could certainly point to the problem.

    >There is no guarantee that anyone from Adobe is here
I have seen the teams of other apps here on the Forum but never for Premiere!
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=7
That is the bug report page.
    >So its a godo idea to document it here and have others duplicate it to confirm it is indeed a >big and not an local environment problem.
That is a good point but keep in mind that the environmental issue might be one that many users will encounter and may be determined not by the condition of the environment but by the configuration. This might not be confirmed here on the forum if the users here have a different configuration. Unless it is clearly determine that is corruption, conflict or lack of resources.
To that regard the what is your configuration? And are all your plug ins up to date?
BTW it is also possible that both users have a corruption that is identical so it can still go either way!

  • [AS CS3] Bug? All Page Items - grouped items w labels

Can anyone confirm this behaviour for me. I would classify it as a bug, but maybe the logic for it not being a bug escapes me.
The command "all page items" is supposed to return a (flat) list of every page object, right? I would suspect that I should be able to address any object in the list. But I can only seem to address an object when it's inside of a group.
I am trying to get the text of a text frame that has a label. It may or may not be inside a group. I can certainly do a try/error block to try a script statement for objects in a group or not in a group. But I think that "all page items" should be able to handle it directly.
    Here's a test script: ------
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"
    tell document 1
get label of all page items
set myUngrouped to contents of text frame "some label" --only works when objects ungrouped, this is expected
set myText to (get contents of text frame "some label" of all page items)
--both statements work ONLY when objects grouped
set myText to (get contents of every page item of all page items whose label is "some label")
    end tell
    end tell
    Steps:
    Make a new document.
Draw a text frame. Type some text into it.
    Label the frame "some label".
Draw another empty graphic or text frame.
    Run script
-->result is, myText statements error out. Why is this?
Now group all items on page.
    Run script.
-->result is, myUngrouped can't continue. This is expected.
    Comment out myUngrouped statement
    Run script.
-->result is, myText statements work OK.

  • Illustrator CS3 - Bug? Export to JPG has white line on outline of image

When using the export (under file) in Illustrator CS3 to save the image to a .jpg file I save it as a RGB (was created initially as CMYK) using quality of medium, method = baseline (standard), depth = screen and anti-alias checked. I tried a number of variations from these standards. THis is what was used on the image you can see at http://www.punchitupnow.com. You will see that a white border (even though made sure to use yellow border color) is present, especially on the bottom of the image (look closely as the image include yellow, which blends with the page color). I you use the file > save for web option you get a preview that shows the white border on the bottom of the image. Any ideas why this is showing? Is it a bug?
    Thank you.

    Eileen:
Jacob is saying you should use a crop area.
You should also consider setting the Matte (in Save for Web) to match the background-color of your page.
Also, you really should work in RGB from the get-go to design anything for the web at all... There are lots of colors in CMYK that don't exist in the RGB gamut and vice-versa.
I'd suggest using a smaller image or just some text on your page while it's under construction, or maybe a combination. The way it's set up now, it's kind of annoying to have to wait and look at that horrid yellow while waiting for an image to load only to find it won't do anything for you.

  • AI CS3 Bug List

All the problems with Adobe Illustrator CS3 are constantly frustrating me and make my job a lot more difficult. Why is CS2 is a lot better than CS3?
Maybe some one can help me to fix all these bugs that I have encountered:
    1) Preview does not work.
I cannot understand why AI CS2 can display Preview before you open a document, but is impossible to do it using CS3. I think is a waste of time using a second program just to view a document file. Using Bridge is just a waste of time because display lot of information that you do not need and the view options are so limited.
    2) Strokes display incorrectly.
Any stroke under .12 pt is display uneven which makes working with the pen tool frustrating.
    3) Pantone Pallette Window.
This window still represents a problem even when you select Persistent option, due to the fact that when you select a PMS color, the selection jumps to the bottom of the list. So you have scroll back up to select the next PMS color.
    4) Mesh Tool
The mesh tool works Ok as long as you do not re-size the artwork. If you re-size the artwork everything is distorted. In other words, your work is useless and you just wasted time. I have to use CS2 to solve the problem. That is right, you have to use the OLD version that works better than the new version.
    5) Outline Stroke.
If you convert a path into outline, you end up with excessive extra anchor points. Yes, you can reduce the amount of the anchor points by using the Add to Shape Area option on Pathfinder feature. But still is not as good as CS2, and can cost delays on your work.
    6) Tiff files
CS3 crashes every time you open or place a tiff file. CS2 did not have this problem.
    7) Text Editing
Every time you have a text with indicator ending on the next line without text, it displays the indicator on the second to the last line. This can cost costly mistakes when you are editing text, spacing, etc.
    8) Selecting text
If you editing different text sentences, you have to be careful that the programs actually takes the text that you are selecting with the text tool. Some times it takes double click for the program to understand that you are not working with the previous sentence. And sometimes you have to select the Black arrow to click on the text you want to edit and then select the text tool to make the editing. This problem is very annoying.
The main complaint is that I use these tools every day and with almost every project. So I am constantly reminded that CS2 is way better than the NEW version CS3 and there is not a word from Adobe if they are working on a patch or revised version to fix these very annoying bugs (that I have to deal with them every day). So if someone have a good solution for these bugs please let me know. Feel free to add bugs you have encountered with CS3. May be Adobe can have one good list of everything that is wrong with this very disappointed version. Thank you!

Kev. Actually the addition of shift in that key combo is what constrains the movement of the duplicated object. So, for example, when I perform the operation I may wish to drag the dupe to the right of the original. The shift keeps it at the exact same "latitude". It is a combo I have used for as long as I have been using AI.
Aside from that I am happy to report that upon quitting all apps and rebooting, the problem disappeared. This embarrasses me somewhat as what I did is a fairly basic thing to try when troubleshooting. It must have been something in the system or memory which was out of whack and righted itself upon startup. Sorry to have wasted space in this forum.
On the other hand, it was a glitch which somewhere, somehow manifested. If it happens to somebody else maybe they'll read this and it will halt the panic.
I am glad I found this little site so I can keep myself better informed as to other possible issues.

  • Shift key and move tool cs3 bug?

I've just installed CS3 and noticed that dragging a shape/object while pressing the shift key doesn't work like it should. It should constrain the movement to 45 or 90 degrees. But in CS3, when I drag an object this way it does funny things. When I press the shift key while dragging the object up e.g. it doesn't go straight up, but there's an offset of some pixels. Sometimes it jumps even further from one position to the next (about 200 pixels up/down e.g.). I've also tried deselecting all the guide/align options, but the same result.
Is this some kind of bug in CS3 (in flash 8 it works like expected)?
I now have to use the arrow keys if I want to move a shape up/down/left/right/diagonal. It does this both on the pc and mac version (so it's not that my version is mixed up of something).

    Order,
If the Type remains unchanged when selected, you seem to need to both Show Edges and Show Bounding Box under View. You should be able to move it though. Otherwise, something else is wrong.

  • Cs3 bug - global objects and frame labels

Just found a bug that took me an hour to figure out.
A strange problem occurred when I had a global object and a
    frame label named the same.
    Example:
    _global.discussion = new Object();
    //lots of functions here
I was directing the timeline of a movieClip to the frame
label "discussion". On this frame there were a number of actions
involving the discussion object. However, flash was treating the
object as if it didn't exist. All variables / functions residing in
this object were completely gone. Has anyone seen this problem. If
    not, watch out for it.
    james

that's coder bug, not a flash bug.

  • [CS3] Bug in Package - missing includingHiddenLayers ...

    hi
there is option in UserInterface - but there is no option in Scripting - is there ANY workaround ?
I thought that this bug is only in VB - but it is also in JS ...
    robin
    www.adobescripts.co.uk

By the white beard of Jove, you are correct. My bad. (I never use hidden layers OR packaging -- so I took the first search hit.)
Fortunately, all you have to do is ... upgrade to CS4
bool packageForPrint (to: File, copyingFonts: bool, copyingLinkedGraphics: bool, copyingProfiles: bool, updatingGraphics: bool, includingHiddenLayers: bool, ignorePreflightErrors: bool, creatingReport: bool[, versionComments: string][, forceSave: bool=false])
    includingHiddenLayers
    bool
If true, copies fonts and links from hidden layers to the package.
    (from the CS4 help.)
It sounds like you have to set all layers to visible, package, then hide the invisiblies again.

  • CS3 bugs fixed for intel macs?????????

CS2 when it came out was not designed for the Intel processor so there was problems until adobe managed to iron out the problems. The only issue is CS2 the performance is not as great as it should be due to this. Is CS3 fully compatible with Intel macs?
On cs2 now and researching into whether its right to upgrade now or leave it a year?

CS3 is made to run natively on the Intel machines. CS3 works best running under Tiger if you have an Intel machine that has Tiger CS3 will run great. If you need to get a new machine that is Leopard only, then there are a few issues.
As Bob said there are many threads.

certainly does a better job of displaying PHP pages, it repeatedly
crashes when linking to files suchs as PDF and HTML files. I am so
frustrated with the product! We recommend Contribute to our clients
and now I am at a loss as to what to do.
Is Adobe aware that the product is unstable? I can definitely
    repeat crashing the product!!

It is working fine for me. Can you please send the site

  • [CS3] Bug, can't create HQX

    Hi,
publishing projector for mac doesn't create a Hqx file on my
    pic. There
is just a folder with cryptic files.
Does anyone know a workaround for this?
    Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem. When I publish a Mac projector
in Flash CS3 on a Mac, it will not open. Just the Flash player
program starts. The ".app" extension is there too and I do not know
why? When I move the Flash files to a PC (Flash 8 Pro) and publish
    them they work! WHY?
    Adobe, please help!
