CS3 crashing with Windows 7 - 64 bit

Hello everyone,
I have been experiencing alot of issues since I have upgraded my operating system from Windows XP 32 bit, to a Windows 7 - 64 bit.
I am working with CS3. I can be working on Indesign and all of a sudden it just disappears. No warning, no error messages, just disappears. Then when I try and reopen it, the application does nothing. If I try and reopen an old file, the machine just sits at a stand still. I have also noticed that all the Indesign icons (from previous files) do not appear as the little Indesign purple icon.. they are just blank white pages.
Also, I can no longer PDF anything... I get an error code from this, but not sure how to read the error.
Does anything have any solutions to offer me, as I have tried to reinstall the entire CS3 program, but that obviously did not help.
I am willing to take any advice I can get at this point.

Hmm... Well, I use CS3 daily on 64-bit Win7, so rest assured it can be made to work.
However, first off: when you say this:
I have been experiencing alot of issues since I have upgraded my operating system from Windows XP 32 bit, to a Windows 7 - 64 bit.
do you mean literally "upgrade?" As in, you threw a Win7 disk into your XP machine and just installed Windows 7 on top of Windows XP? Or did you buy a new computer, or did you format your hard drive before installing Win7?
Also, I can no longer PDF anything... I get an error code from this, but not sure how to read the error.
Proabably unrelated, but if you could post (at least part of) the error message, or a screenshot of the error, we might be able to figure out something from it.
Lastly, if you've already tried an uninstall/reinstall, then you may want to try again, but this time use the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. If the uninstaller failed to uninstall files or settings, then the old files or settings could be interfering with your new install. The Cleaner Tool will go through your hard drive and registry (after you uninstall again the normal way) and exterminate any leftover bits of your previous install(s). This will probably resolve your issues, unless you did install Win7 on top of WinXP, in which case the uninstall-CS-cleanup-and-reinstall-CS routine might not be a one-shot fix for you.

/CI bought a zen style 300 mp3 player. The Creative Centrale program crashes everytime I try and use it trying to access files on the Zen. Anybody have this program working? Any suggestions?
I have tried to load the software twice.
I can see the Zen via the Computer... My Zen in Windows but not this program...

Re: Creative Centrale Crashes with Windows 7 64 bitmThank You KoKChoy-CL....
I had to Format to fix that issue. Now it worked so I could see the Zen 300 but did crash during tranfering music. I have tried it twice now. Once the Window 7 crashes, I cannot get the Centale program to enter my Zen.
Just a hint about how to get into the Zen Recover mode. Start off.. then push the on button and once you see the screen, quickly press back button holding them both down at the same time.

The program still crashed during transfering files to my Zen... I keep trying but I can always tranfer using Window 7 just by transfering from one folder to the next folder.

  • Adobe After Effects CS3 crashes with Codecs such as Motion JPEG and Avid DnxHD

    Hey guys, I'm new here
I'm having a problem with After Effects CS3 crashing with .mov files (exported from Adobe Premiere) with codecs such as Motion Jpeg A and Avid's DnxHD. Its driving me crazy.
If I import a Motion Jpeg A file, AE crashes immediately. If I import a DnxHD file that works fine with Premiere, it seems to import ok. However, when I try to play it in AE it comes up as a plain white... thing. If I move the slider across it previews one or two frames before AE crashes. Its driving me crazy.
AE works ok with H.164 and animation files.
I'm reinstalled quicktime and Avids codecs, uninstalled ffdshow, disabled Open GL and multiprocessing, changed between 10bit and 8bit (whatever that is all about) with the dnxhd and I'm really stumped. If I can get Dnxhd working I'm fine with that. I thought I'd mention the Motion Jpeg A codec to see if they're a result of the same problem.
I've also tried Avid's RGB packed Codec with the same results.
I'm running Windows Xp 32 bit with 3gbs of ram, a GeForce 8600 gt with a Intel Pentium Duo Core Processor 2.00 GHZ.
    Can anyone help me please?

I'm mistaken, Animation files don't work either!
I tried that with no luck. I even tried a few more Quicktime codecs with the same results.
Only H.164 and some png compressed .mov files seem to work. Very frustrating.
I'm surprised thats the case - I am defintley due for an upgrade. Even though this system seems to work ok, struggling a little bit with HD .mov files but yeah, I've been planning a new system for a while.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 compatibility with Windows 8.1

Is Premiere CS3 and Encore CS3 compatible with Windows 8.1 64 bit?

I rather doubt it.  CS3 was released back in 2007.  You might try it.

  • How do i know if my itunes is compatible with windows 64 bit?

How do i know if my itunes is compatible with windows 64 bit?

Did you download the 64-bit installer?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • CS3 seizing/crashing with Windows 7

I have bought a new computer running Windows 7.
My CS3 keeps seizing up when using some tools. I can't be precise because when it seizes I am so annoyed that I forget to log which tool caused the problem but an educated guess  - it's non specific. It can happen anytime.
It opens Ok and I start working on a photo and then, at some time during the process,  it seizes up.. I have downloaded all applicable updates.
I am assuming it is Windows 7.
If it is then it's a problem because I do not have any other computer.
I appreciate that CS3 was not designed for windows 7 but I am sure that Adobe must have upgraded CS3 to cope with new windows software. Or have they?
    Any advice please?
    As a secondary question - If CS 3 not compatible with windows 7 - Is CS4 compatible?  I really can't afford CS5.

What the devil are you talking about, Andrew?  All the Microsoft x64 operating systems run 32 bit software perfectly.  They always have.
Not only that but 32 bit Photoshop can actually access much more RAM than its normal 2GB  limit on a Windows x64 operating system, because each 32 bit application is given access to more of the full 32 bit address space than on a native 32 bit operating system.
And 2.6 GB of RAM is more than plenty to run Windows x64.  A well set up system actually takes up only about 0.6 GB.
Andrew, you should actually try things yourself before making statements.  May I suggest you invest some time and effort into a virtualization environment, such as VMware, so that you might gain some personal experience with such things.
It is in NO WAY "just plain stupid" to use an x64 operating system with 2.6 GB of RAM.  It may be all the computer hardware that cymruboy has can handle, and it's the best system he could have chosen for a variety of reasons.
While I agree that more RAM may help, I suspect that cymruboy will see better Photoshop operation just by turning Photoshop's memory usage limit down to about 60%.

  • Internet Explorer Crashes with Windows 7 64 bit

Internet Explorer has constantly crashes with my Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium system.  I have tried every troubleshooting method there is and it still crashes.  I tried uninstalling the Windows update and it was wiped out so I did a system restore.
I still don't feel safe.  Any more solution I could try?

    Hi,
You can try the following suggestions to check if the problem be solved:
    Try to run IE in
    No Add-ons.
    Try to restore IE setting.
    Try to use
    Fix It tool.
    Try to use
    MSE to scan your system.

  • Installed CS3 with windows vista bit AE won't open.

When my old faithful computer motherboard fried, I had to get a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I had CS3 loaded and working without a glich on my old XP computer.
I've loaded the whole CS3 suite, but when I open After Effects nothing happens. Using Window's Task Manager, under "Applications" After Effects doesn't show up as a running but under "Processes" the file "AfterFX.exe *32" is listed as running.
I've also tried uninstalling CS3 and reinstalling it in the directory "Program Files" rather than in the directory "Program Files (x86)" and nothing changed.
I've tried to opening all the other programs in CS3 with the similar results. Nothing opens, but their .exe files are listed under Task Managers "Processes".
I'm using this as a vol lic product, so I'm not sure how much tech support I can get.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

I'm sorry it didn't work. I probably don't have an answer for you since I'm not an expert or anything.
One thing I thought was weird was that the software version on my computer for the motherboard was version 6.xx (whatever) and the software I downloaded from the HP web was version 5.xx (whatever). It made it work though..
I think the update would be on the HP site, not the MSI site. Go to hp.com, downloads, and put in the name of your computer. Download/install whatever motherboard software they have. If that doesn't work, go to the adobe website and search for the document kb402213 and work through that. It's what the person you give Adobe $40 to help you is going to do.
    Good luck. Hopefully this helps.

  • Firefox constantly crashing with Windows 7

My computer was upgraded about a week ago with a new hard drive, new version of Windows (7 64 bit) installed on it, and everything else newly installed and up to date as far as I know, including the latest version of Firefox (26.0). Prior to this I had been using Firefox on XP without issue, but now with Windows 7, Firefox crashes multiple times a day. I did not have this problem before. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of page I'm on when it crashes. All I know is it's becoming almost pointless to use because I don't know how long it will work before it crashes again. I love Firefox and want to be able to use it normally! Here is a list of the crashes. Please help!

  • CS3 crashes with a message of "an unhandled win32 exception has occurred in photoshop.exe"

I have been able to use Photoshop CS3 just fine but all of sudden it'll randomly crash with a message in Microsoft's Just In Time debugger stating "An unhandled win32 exception has occurred in photoshop.exe" I have Visual Studio 2008 installed and the 3.5 framework that comes with it that's why I have the JIT debugger.
My system meets minimum requirements for Photoshop CS3, and I have used Photoshop CS3 before just fine (prior to reformatting).
    Thank you for your time.

Try resetting your preferences with the ctr-alt-shift. If successful will get window outlining options.

  • Pre Pro CS3 compatible with Windows 7 Home?

I'm currently running Pre Pro CS3 on my dieing XP.  Looking to purchase Sony Series F- Quad core i7 740 QM (173 GHz with Turbo Boost to 2.93 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M GPU (1GB VRAM), 640 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM), 8 GB DDR SDRAM, with Windows 7 Home Version.  Will Pre Pro CS3 run with this. Can't afford to purchase puter and Pre Pro upgrade both.  My concern is 64 bit Windows 7 with CS3.  Advice??  I'm not puter literate enough to build my own.  This Vaio from Sony is about $1,400.

Is WinXP compatilbility mode a setting in Windows 7?

I do some animation work (play), short intros and demos.  I appreciate your advice in this.  Thanks- Dorian

  • Is Photoshop CS3 compatible with Windows 8

I am planing to get a new computer with windows 8 and I am currently using Photoshop CS3 in a windows XP computer.  Do I need to get the upgrade to CS6 or can I get an update for CS3 to work on Windows 8?

PS CS3 is not supported on Win 8. So, its best to upgrade to PS CS6 and use it flawlessly with Win 8.
