CS3 Crop Tool, this is Driving me NUTS!!
hello, I was just wondering if someone can tell me what stupid little thing I am missing with the Crop tool.
I have done it before...What I want to do is have the crop tool set at a fixed dimension, WITHOUT resampling let's say I have a picture set to 72ppi, that's 8"x8". And I want the crop tool to be fixed at 150px by 90px, res: 72ppi. What is happening now is, the crop tool is dragging the entire span of the picture, and resampling my selection to the size I specified in the options bar above. I don't want that
What I want to happen is that when I click and drag, only a fixed 150x90px box appears, so that I can't make it any bigger than that...I have done it before....but for some reason I cannot find the option to turn of resampling, or for that matter the options for deleting the cropped out space or hiding it.
It's driving me nuts!! any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
If you leave the resolution box blank, whether the crop tool resamples or not then depends on the size units you choose in the width and height boxes. If pixel units are entered, the original resolution is preserved and resampling must occur to effect that. If inches are used, resampling does NOT occur.

This is driving me Nuts routing question
Okay...here is what i am trying to do:
I am trying to use a hardware device, as an efects unit. I want to be able to apply the resulting processed outgoing signal, to my master mix.
I am following the instruction in the manual for the Hardware unit, which is an effects unit that also functions as VST plug in. I have discovered that the VST part of it, simply allows you to control the dials via a software interface, but that the hardware unit itself, still has to be routed in and out of Audition.
Here is my hook up so far:
I have a dry vocal track in track 1 on my multi tracker.
It is routed to Bus A
Bus A, is routed to outgoing port 3 on my sound card, which carries sends the track to the hardware effects unit.
The processed track comes back through the SPDIF In, on my sound card.
Thus, Track 3 on my multi track window, takes In the SPDIF
Track 3 is also routed out to the Master track
Herre is the net reswult:
The signal gets processed correctly. The wet version comes into track 3 as expected. I can record it onto track 3, if I wish.
But despite the fact that track 3 is routed OUT to the Master, the Master track does not seem to hear track 3. Thus, I cannot rout the processed track to the master mix for mixdown.
My goal is to be able to create a mixdown which would include the processed sound from track 3, but I can't figure out how to make the processed sound go to the Master track, so that it can becoem part of the mix.
Here is a picture of the audition mixer window. Please scroll to the far right of this picture, as I have a dual monitor and the left side is is what i am typing..the right side is the mixer pic.
(ignore track 2...it does nothing)

This is driving me nuts. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks you>But despite the fact that track 3 is routed OUT to the Master, the Master track does not seem to hear track 3. Thus, I cannot rout the processed track to the master mix for mixdown.
Assuming that I've understood you correctly:
AFAIK, that's quite correct; you can't add a live source to a mixdown. You can determine what you hear by altering the overall monitoring settings (Audition mix, external), but I'm pretty sure that you can't add a 'live' anything to an actual mixdown
process, simply because this is based on file manipulation. So, you have to record it first. And anyway, even if you could do what you want, the timing would be all over the place. -
Hi everyone. I am trying to download ML on my iMac and when I click the download button, I am asked for my PW which I provide and then the ML icon launches in launchpad but nothing takes place. Have been trying for 2 days and this is driving me nuts. Help
Yes it does and there is an indication that the software is downloading but after a few hours, it just stops without any error message. Everything simply disappears and I need to start over again. I have a superfast connection so it should no be this slow. Everything worked fine on my MBP and I am in the same place. Any ideas

Photoshop CS3 Crop Tool Doesn't Work
Does everyone's crop tool work correctly in PS CS3? Mine doesn't and I wasn't sure if this is a flaw in the software.
NDI just ran into a crop problem, too. I've been using the demo CS3 for about 25 days with no serious problems, on a Macbook Pro. I have a file with 2 layers (background and background copy). I tried to crop the image, with the background copy layer highlighted. When I do, the whole screen goes black (as if I have cropped the whole image into nothingness). The tiny thumbnails on the layers don't show an image, but two squares (2 halves of the thumbnail) of faded colors. I opened a completely different image, and tried cropping that, and I get the same result! I double checked and I am not cropping to any weird size or resolution. This seems like a big bug, if it is a bug!

Adobe Publicly Claims Leopard is the Reason for PS CS3 Crop Tool Problems
From the Adobe User to User Forum for Mac PS:
"Adobe and Apple are working closely to provide a fix to a known issue running Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended on Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5.1). Currently, when you enter values in numerical fields to set sizes for the brush, crop, marquee, lasso, type, and other Photoshop CS3 tools, those values revert to previously entered values when you try to apply them.
While we have identified workarounds for some of the affected tools, this issue prevents people from working as precisely and intuitively as they expect. Providing a fix to customers is a top priority. Please note the following:
The fix will be provided through an update to Mac OS X Leopard. Consequently, it is not part of the Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1) update.
Apple is collaborating closely with us to get this fix incorporated into a Mac OS X Leopard update. *No public schedule* is available at this time, but both companies understand the urgency of this fix."
This is a huge major problem and would hope that Apple, if indeed it is their problem, will assign all the resources necessary to get a fix far before 08 arrives.

Adobe should have had updates waiting on the day 10.5 was released. Not possible? BS! Even a dippy little driver like SteerMouse had a 10.5 version posted to download the day after 10.5 was released.
You are conveniently omitted the various developers, much smaller than Adobe, who did not ship updates the day Leopard was available, claiming that they really needed to test with the final shipping version. I might try to dig up a few of those notices.
Believe it or not, Adobe actually beat several small developers to Universal Binary, even though it took a while for Adobe's huge code bases.
And if it's a Leopard bug, then I want Apple to fix it, rather than forcing the developer to work around it if there's a fix coming anyway. That would be a waste of time.
Also I severely doubt that Adobe had the, as you say, "source code" for Leopard. Does Apple let any other developer have the "source code?" I think the only source code allowed outside the Apple campus are the parts that were already open source to begin with. -
This is driving me nuts -- Custom easing
Well, I was using flash on someone else's machine, and I
created a custom motion tween ease between two keyframes, and when
I added a new keyframe halfway in between the keyframes it
automatically adjusted the easing on both tweens so that the motion
of the object remained the same.
My home computer does NOT do this automatic adjustment for
me, and it's driving me nuts. I can't figure out how to enable it.
If anyone out there knows what this option is called or how
to turn it on, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!>But despite the fact that track 3 is routed OUT to the Master, the Master track does not seem to hear track 3. Thus, I cannot rout the processed track to the master mix for mixdown.

CS3 - Cropping tool: Which reduction method is used?
When I use the Cropping Tool to crop and reduce a large image to, say 400 x 300, which "reduction method" does the tool use?
In "Image Size", it gives options for Bicubic, Bicubic Sharper, etc etc
Is there a place to set the method for the Cropping Tool?
ThanksThanks.
Okay, I've got it:
There is a setting in Prefs which controls the method, but in the "Image..." command, you get a chance to temporarily override the Prefs.
Setting the method "Image..." does NOT change the default method set in Prefs.
Cheers. -
My Mac keeps freezing/crashing when I use the liquify tool. I have photoshop cs6 Version: 13.0.6 just updated it and still same problem. I even signed up for creative cloud and tried liquifying from there and still no luck. Can someone send me a link to the latest drivers? from what I've read so far, the problem may be linked to the drivers. Im a bit of a novice when it comes to this and I have a project I have to get out to a client soon. Yike!

This is driving me nuts! (Music)
I'm trying just to add some background music to a project...I put the music clip into the project ok, and it turned green, but somehow now is purple! ANyway, somehow I have turned OFF the sound so I cant hear the song in the clip...I went to the trimmer and did the slider all the way up but no sound! What did I do wrong and why is it purple, not greeen?
Believe it or not I got mine working finally though I'm not sure which of the following steps, if any, did the trick. I posted this problem in the DSLReports forum. Apparently several people had problems though none mentioned iTunes specifically. The 'fix' was to go into the advanced menu and change the proxy port to something other than Port: 87. The idea was that this effectively turns off the proxy server or I should say forces your receiver to not use the proxy server. Well I tried this and didn't see any difference. Rather than screw anything else up I decided to reset the DW7000 thus restoring the original settings. For some reason it all of sudden could finally access the Music Store, update podcasts, etc.; i.e. it started working.
From what I've read, each time you reset the receiver it goes out an decides on the proxy server to use (not necessarily the same one each time). I'm guessing the proxy server it picked up after the reset was more iTunes friendly. Of course it's possible that it has nothing to do with the proxy server and the reset fixed whatever was wrong. Bottom line, reset your receiver and see if the access problem goes away. If not, try again. It only takes a few seconds so really you have nothing to loose. Kind of obvious when you think about it. What's the first thing you do when your computer is having a problem? Yep, reset.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The second symptom you describe is the most telling -- see this page:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp#tab_tab_system_requirements
Make sure you fully meet all requirements -- you might have to contact your carrier to be sure since one of the requirements involves them. I suggest contacting them and asking them very specifically if your current service plan allows you access to AppWorld.
Good luck and let us know!

I have no other problems with V. 4 so far. Love it, actually.
Hello Macchiavell, it works the same as in FF3:
Right-click the menu bar, select '''Customize''', you get a box of icons.
First, check the box '''Use small icons'''. This saves a few pixels of screen height.
Hover the mouse over the menu bar, and the cursor will change to a hand symbol.
Drag the bits that you don't want into the box.
While you're there, you can consolidate the two bars into one by dragging the items in the lower bar up to the upper one until it is empty. then right-click the menu bar and uncheck the empty one. This saves a further 20 more pixels of screen height. -

Very random freezes... This is driving me nuts!
This problem is just absurd!
Every once and a while my computer just freezes for 5 or 6 seconds and then unfreezes just to continue on like nothing happened. No error logs, no BSOD's, no warnings, no nothing! I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but the freezes have occurred after doing the following... but never happen again if I try to recreate the situation.
-Unplugged the USB cable from my PSP
-In the middle of a World of Warcraft Game
-Started Trillian
-Started Windows
-Closed Firefox
-During use and startup of iTunes.
-And as soon as I dock my Dell PocketPC
Now since this problem is sooooo random it's extremely hard for me to pinpoint the problem.
This problem although irritating it doesn't happen that often. Sometimes it happens 5 times a day, other times it only happens once or twice a week.
I've reinstalled windows numerous times trying to see if it is a software issue or not but it's still hard to tell.
The only real tie in I've been able to find is every time I've reinstalled windows and plugged in my ipod the freezes start happening after that point.
Otherwise it seems to be freezeless before that point.
My computer specs are in my sig...
Here is a list of programs that are running in the background when in idle.
Trillian
Webshots
MS AntiSpyware
Dantz Retrospect
AVG Antivirus
Picasa2
ActiveSync
Outlook 2000
Ipodservice
I still think it's a software issue as the computer runs flawlessly (without freezes) with a fresh copy of windows on it without any software installed, but I am open to suggestions.
Do you think this is a hardware issue or software?
HELP ME!I just got this e-mail from BFG...
Anything you would add to or remove??
Thank you for contacting the BFG E-Mail Technical Support Group. I understand your having some difficulty with your BFG Asylum GeForce card. The problem you specified seems as if it's originating in the BIOS. Your BIOS is the basic "input/output" system setup for your computer and must be entered while the computer is booting, during or shortly after POST. To enter your BIOS you normally have to press a key specific to your system. This is normally something like F1, F10 or Delete keys, but varies from computer to computer. Below I've listed all of the BIOS settings that may pertain to all of our cards. Please make sure these settings are concurrent in your setup. Please keep in mind these settings may not apply for some cards that are pci and some settings may not apply to the agp cards. If you're not familiar with your BIOS we recommend contacting your computer or motherboard manufacturer to make any changes.

This is driving me nuts! Please help!
I created an animation of scrollwork (from a png file) that
looks like it is being drawn realtime by using the erase a bit at a
time and then reverse the frames method, however at the end of this
animation I want the completed drawing to fade out. However
whenever I create a motion tween and set the image alpha to 0% at
the end frame it makes the png's previously transparent parts turn
solid white.
I did this:
Imported the png (which has transprent parts so my custom
background on the stage shows) to the stage-> Converted the png
to a symbol -> Erased a bit, inserted new keyframe, erased a
bit, inserted new keyframe..... till the whole thing was erased
-> Reversed the frames -> inserted new key frame and end
frame, put in motion tween -> changed scrollwork symbol alpha to
0% -> play animation: Works perfectly until it gets to the
motion tween at which point the transparent parts go white but the
visible parts fade out like it should leaving the stage white.
Can somebody please tell me how I can get it to not go white
and stay transparent while fading out! Any help is much
appreciated!! :)http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=406&thread=354616
