CS3 cropping box not keeping up with cursor ?

Hi all -
My question may seem very basic, but my use of CS3 is very basic. I use it only to scan in pictures or tattoos that I want to post on my website. To clean them up a bit I crop the edges as close to the design as I can using the cropping tool. I never set anything on the tool (I don't know how - it's always worked fine for me at whatever it was set at when I installed the program), but now all of a sudden when I attempt to drag the box to make it the size I need it, the box won't drag along with the cursor.....it lags behind and then stops at a certain size......
Again, this worked fine until a couple weeks ago, and I thought if I restarted the program and the computer maybe it was a glitch that would leave; however, now I'm thinking I accidentally set something that is now screwing up my ability to just crop what I need.
Hopefully this has made sense........I have a windows vista machine and CS3, and *very limited* knowledge of photoshop.

Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?
The video starts out fine, but if I click on the expand icon in the lower right corner of the screen the audio won't keep up.
Refreshing the page don't help at all. In fact, nothing seems to help once it starts.
I did not have this problem at all using Mavericks. The problem started after installing Yosemite.
Any way to fix it?

Crop box not showing up on image

I recently upgraded to CS4 from CS3 on my iMac (OS10.5+). Whenever I use the crop tool the crop box is visable as I set it but disappears once I release the mouse button to set the crop size. When I hit return to complete the crop, the program tends to hang up. Going to another window or back to Bridge and coming back into CS4 'unhangs' the program and the crop is completed. Everything else appears to be working fine. Any suggestions how to fix this? I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled CS4 and I'm hoping this is cause by some box somewhere that I have or haven't checked! I'm a long time user of PS and have never seen this.

Reset the crop tool (per the FAQ) and see if that works. If not, reset your prefs.

Data not getting bind with cursor

Database: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit
OS: Windows Server 2003
Consider following procedure:
Proc P1() as

Problem: In most of the execution, the value 'X' passed in cursor c get bind with col3 in where clause and get the desired result. However, in some cases, the value 'X' does not get bind with col3 in where clause. I don't know the steps to re-produce the issue, but it occurs once in a while.
On querying v$sql_bind_capture, i get 'NULL' in value_string whenever this problem occurs. Otherwise, I get 'X' in v$sql_bind_capture. No exception is thrown anytime.
What may cause miss of binding constant literal 'X' to cursor?

Have not seen this error before - PL/SQL not binding SQL statements containing PL/SQL variables, correctly. What at times happen is no bind at all due to name collision. Using the same name for a PL/SQL variable as a SQL column in the SQL statement and scope being such that with name resolution, the SQL column gets preference. This of course does not seem to be the case here.
What could be happening is that a null variable is being passed as the bind value.
You can also have a look at the Metalink/support.oracle.com for any notes or bugs on this behaviour. Knee-jerk reaction from my side that this is too a common issue to be an actual PL/SQL bug... (would have reared its head a long time ago)
In cases like this I like to make sanity checks - reduce the problem to its bare basics with a test case and see if that works. Then gradually increase its complexity and see when it brakes, if at all.

Sequence does not keep up with playhead on timeline. Shouldn't it?

When I view a sequence of clips on the canvas, I expect the timeline sequence to keep moving left off screen as the playhead moves right. Instead, the playhead disappears off screen to the right and the sequence of clips remains on the starting blocks. At the moment, I keep up with the playhead using the left/right scroll on MM. Is there a way of automatically syncing - on screen - the movement of clips and playhead?

Nope. FCP doesn't work that way.
If you believe it should, send the FCP team feedback using the FEEDBACK selection under the FCP item located in the FCP Menu bar.

Excel 2013 not switching cells with cursor keys

Hello
I am currently having trouble with excel 2013 x64
When i use the cursor keys like in earlier versions of excel, instead of navigating through cells, the whole sheet scrolls by that cell in one direction. I am not sure if I have changed the settings or not and any help making it work like older versions
of excel and the 32 bit edeition.

Maybe you have accidentally pressed the Scroll Lock key (sometimes the key says ScrLk. Most keyboards have a light to indicate that Scroll Lock is on. Pressing the key again turns it off.

Mac mini not keeping connection with Cisco wireless access point

I am trying to get my wife's Mac Mini to keep it's connection with the wireless network at her school. They are using a Cisco access point (not sure of the model) which works fine with my G4 Powerbook and the numerous Macbooks being used there, but for some reason her Mac Mini drops the connection after 4 or 5 minutes, at which point she needs to log right off for it to reconnect (as opposed to just turning the card off and on again). I have already gone through the deletion of the Networkinterfaces.plist file, and recreation of the Airport card profile process, but this only kept the interface active for about 36 hours, then it was back to the same old problem. At this point I am thinking "flakey card"...before I ship it off to Apple, can anyone offer any other possible solutions?

After spending time on the phone with a Apple support technician, he indicated that the Iphone has a compatibility problem with the wep key encryption that the Cisco appliance uses. I find this disturbing being that Cisco is the biggest in network gear. What's UP Apple? We need SP1 for the IPHONE!!!

Brush/selection not lining up with cursor

I have CS4 on my home and work computers, one of which is a Mac (Leopard) and one of which is a PC (Windows 7), and for some reason at a certain point in my using any program in the suite (Photoshop most of all), all of a sudden the cursor starts registering as about 15px below where it actually is. That is, when I try to select a path, for example, or to make a marquee selection, the place where Photoshop registers a click is about 15px below the point of the cursor. It makes it very hard to select paths especially, because I have to gauge where it will think I'm clicking by estimation.
It doesn't matter how much I zoom in, it's not relative pixels, it's monitor pixels. And it seems to connect to memory usage or something because it only starts happening after a while of using the program.
This may just be a hard problem to search for, but I can't seem to find any reference to anyone else having this problem. I have it on two entirely separate machines with two entirely separate copies of the program and two entirely different operating systems. If I'm coloring art and I try to use the fill tool, half the time it will color all of my line art instead of the small space between the lines I'm trying to fill in. It's quite an annoying problem. Anyone have any idea what could be causing it?

I'm using 11.0.1, though... I try to make sure everything's up-to-date, but I just checked to be sure that was the version I was using, and it is. I'll try the F key solution next time it comes up but I'm skeptical, just because I often cycle through those different modes anyway, and as far as I've noticed it hasn't done anything to fix that problem.
I can't imagine it's graphics-card related, as I'm getting this on two entirely different computers, operating systems, graphics cards.
I'm just surprised that I'm getting this on two computers and apparently nobody else is experiencing it at all.

Finalization thread does not keep up with Object allocation

Hi,
I'm trying to track down a memeory leak in my program. When I use OptimizeIT I find 11,690 instances of java.lang.ref.Finalizer hanging about. I also see lots of JDBC Connection, CallableStatements, and PreparedCalls hanging around. (They are actually instances of my vendor specific classes). Those objects include a finalize() method.
Why are all these java.lang.ref.Finalizers hanging about? Why doesn't the finalization thread actually let go of them or finalize them in a timely manner! Eventually, my process runs out of memory and the Finalization thread never seems to finalize these objects. The rate at which I am newing up connections seems to be faster than the finalization thread can destory the object.

When I go into the reference graph, there are lots of Connection objects that don't have link back to the root set. But, they are never GC'ed when I push the GC button. While OptimizeIT doesn't show the finalization thread holding a reference to them, I believe OptimizeIT 4.2 hides the java.lang.ref.Finalizer reference that points to your object. The reference inside java.lang.ref.Finalizer is actually inside a super class called java.lang.ref.Reference. Why I don't know? But, someone with OptimizeIT 4.1 said that they see more information than I do in OptimizeIT 4.2. Also when I do a show Outbound References I don't see the instance members for the super class. (Namely java.lang.ref.Reference.referent) Is anyone familiar enough with OptimizeIT as to why this is occuring?

What's really interesting about this problem is that
this has nothing to do with whether you call close()
or not. In fact, you could've called close() and
cleaned up properly, and your program could still leak
memory! It hinges on objects that implement the
finalize() method.
Your program, or third party libraries, or even the JVM can leak memory.
My JDBC vendor, like many, includes a finalize()
method in the implemention classes of Connection,
ResultSet, PreparedCall, etc. Naturally, this is to
clean up a connection when a programer has lost a
reference to a connection without calling close, but
it has a serious side effect.

I certainly know of JDBC vendors who do use finalize. Seems reasonable since the JDBC spec suggests it.
And I have used JDBC drivers that use it in 24x7 server operations and I have not traced a leak to those drivers yet.
So to my mind that suggests that finalize by itself is not a problem.
I've tested this will a class that simply does a wait()
call in its finalize() method. Then I allocate lots
of other objects that contain a finalize() method,
and watch the free memory fall. Just as a guess I would say that that is a really bad thing to do. My first guess would be that it would just lock up the JVM. Since it doesn't that would suggest that the JVM is creating one or more threads to call finalize.
Threads take memory.
And when you call wait you suspend those thread indefinitely.
So I would expect to see memory fall.

the .NET mailing list on finalization in .NET, and
they seem to say the same thing that Sun says which is
that the use of a finalize() method that the system

I would guess that memory collection in .Net is going to be less robust than in java. It simply hasn't been around long enough.
While the fix for my problem is quite simple, remove
the finalize() method from the wrapper class. But, I
haven't run across any documenation on Sun's site or
the internet that has run across a memory leak quite
like this.
I however, have read, and participated in quite a few threads on this site where many people have suggested that you should never use finalize.
I think there are even a couple examples that show exactly how using finalize can generate memory leaks.

Selection tool not lining up with cursor

On numerous occassions, when using cs4 and the selection tools, lasso and magic wand, amongst others, the selection point, is out of allignment with the cursor. What is wrong, and how do i sort the problem out?

Macbook Pro 17 2010 fan not keeping up with temperate increase.

I have a macbook pro 17 2010 i7 with 8gb ram running mavericks 10.9.1. I have istat menu installed and been using it since mountain lion. Even before I upgraded to mavericks I've had this issue with my fans staying at 2000 rpm even though my temp is at 170-190 ºF. I would have to manually adjust it to medium or high in istat menu to lower the temperature. This is just under normal usuage with firefox ( i do understand safari is the best browser that doesn't take a lot of the laptops resources), or if I load up iPhotos my temp spikes. Before, I wouldn't even have to worry about looking at my temps because I can hear the fan increase automatically (under heavy load with gaming). Lately its been to silent even at 190ºF and thats when I been paying attention to the temps even more.
What i've done to try to resolve this issue but with no success:
Took apart bottom cover and vacuumed out the fan, ducts, grills, keyboard, and any dust that was there.
reset SMC
restored computer to factory settings with snow leopard, upgraded to mountain lion and lastly mavericks
Below is what my status bar says about my system as of right now.
Temp is at 130ºF and cpu usage is only at 9%
Can someone help me resolve this issue? I just want the fan to automatically increase as the temp increased like before.

Linksys WTR160N not keeping connection with internet

I just bought a Linksys WTR160N Broadband router and tried to connect with comcast modem Arris. Keep losing connection. Called linksys tech and he said it was my network card but when i connect direct to the modem it works fine. I bought a new linksys network N card for my laptop and it has the same problem. I am direct connected right now and has worked fine. HELP

Try to readjust the wireless settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Reduce the MTU size to 1300 under setup..and Click on save settings.
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Yahoo In box not keeping sync after 2.2

i deleted and moved some e-mails from my Yahoo account on my PC. When I refresh the iPhone the mails remain in the IN box. The mails that were moved to other folders now appear in two places... Is this right ?

thanks, that did it. i deleted a new mail item from my pc after re-adding my yahoo account to my iphone and it worked.

Coverflow does not keep up with songs

I have my touch set up on the little plastic stand on my desk at work and have a playlist selected and playing. It is turned longways obviously to sit in the stand. Coverflow never changes unless you physically pick up the touch and turn it round, that triggers the change. Annoying - it should change as the playlist moves to a new song. Also on coverflow , you cannot adjust volume, etc, again you have to take it out of the stand and flip it around. Since they give you the stand , it would be nice to have more functionality in that mode.

Bridge does not keep my Label Preference

I want to be able to rate my images in Bridge CS3 using only the number keys. So I go to Preferences - Labels - then uncheck "Require the Control Key to Apply Labels and Ratings". This works fine and I'm able to rate images by tapping keys 1 through 5 (for star ratings) then 6 to 9 for color labels.
The problem is when I close Bridge CS3, it does not keep my labels preference. Every time I open Bridge again, the Control key is required to rate images. If I check the preference, that option is once again checked off.
Is there a way to keep that UNchecked???

Adobe has started to release really crappy software. Their bug testing is God aweful, and their willingness to fix their problems is even worse!
Bridge constantly crashes for no reason whatsoever for me. If I leave it open, but haven't used it in a while, when I pull it back up, it often crashes. Explain that! I'm not even doing anything with the program.
I'm having the same problems with labels retaining the preference. Inexcusable, and a complete failure of proper testing.
How long has it been since Vista's been released, and yet there's STILL no native DNG preview? Sure, you can buy one for $30 bucks from a third party. Remind me again why I need to pay a third party to do Adobe's job?
And because they make some of the best stuff, they can get away with this shoddy workmanship. But only for so long. Keep it up guys, and you'll inspire a competitor to do a better job.
