CS3 / CS4 connection key issues.

My clients and I both upgraded to CS4 around the same time... it's been a while. Before we all had CS3. Now when I try to put my role as an admin - it corrupts all their connection keys and I then have to remove admin rights and set their connections up manually. Any thoughts on why this happens?
Thank you.

Might be due to the Compatability settings. Please refer to http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/09/compatibilty_transition_mode.html for more information.

  • Connection key issue

I sent a connection key to a client who has Contribute CS3 already installed and has been using it for at least a year. I sent a new connection key for her because she changed web host companies. When she clicks on the link in the email to set up the connection a window pops up that asks her to "Please install Adobe Contribute CS3 using Setup.exe".
Not sure what's going on here.

Did you try saving the attached key file to the harddrive first (in other words: get it out of the email client) before trying to double click it? This sometimes seems to do the trick.

  • Connection Key Issues

I have a user for whom I've sent a connection key, when they
try to use the key (i.e. opening the key in Contribute), they
    receive the following error:
Contribute could not verify your connection key.
Please contact your administrator for assistance.
(Server Error: Contribute cannot contact the website
specified in the connection key. Please contact this website's
    Administrator for assistance.)
The user is in the same user group on the Windows server as
all the other users of Contribute and they are using the correct
    login information.
Any ideas on what could be going on?

    I have a similar problem.
I am working with a user who has a Mac; I have a PC. We are
    both using Contribute 2.
I sent him a connection key together with the password.
When he clicked on the key and entered the password, he got
    the following error message:
Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your
connection information or contact your administrator.
I went round to enter in the password myself to make sure it
was entered correctly and I got the same error message.
However when I click on the connection key on my machine and
enter the same password, I have no problems re-setting the
    connection.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

  • CS3 / CS4 connection to remote/testing servers times out.

    Hello,
    I have 2 questions:
    1. Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once for multiple ldap authentication transactions?
    2. Can DreamWeaver be configured to increase it's timeout when connecting to remote/testing servers?
    Details below ...
    ============
    Setup
Client: DW CS3/4 clients on WIN XP
    Server: Suse Linux 2.6 (SP3)
Protocol: WebDAV via apache 2.2, LDAP authentication
    Problem description
Dreamweaver Clients fail to connect to remote/testing servers during peak usage hours.
    Analysis
Connecting to the remote/testing servers requires approximately 900 database transactions to test user privileges for content, simplified as the following:
    900 x [ bind + lookup + unbind ]
During peak hours, this process can sometimes take upwards of 30 seconds to complete.  In these cases, Dreamweaver times out (at approximately 40 seconds) and then user must try the process again.
    Possibe Solutions
    a) Increase cache size in apache.
This has been done, but we have a large client base, and with 900 look-ups per user, we hit the ceiling of an acceptable cahce size.  This solution does not work for us.
    b) Change DreamWeaver authentication to only bind once.
Binding 900 times for 900 separate lookups is wasteful.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once and have multiple transactions?
    [ bind + [ 900 x lookup ] + unbind ]
    c) Change DreamWeaver timeout value
Currently DreamWeaver times out on connection attempts at about 30-40 seconds.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to timeout at a different value?
    ============
    Thanks!

  • Using old connection keys with CS4

I work for a web development company. Some of our clients use
Contribute for content management. In the office, we use Contribute
CS3 to create keys to send to the users. We had a user report that
no connection was created when they used a key we made in CS3. The
user just got Contribute, so I assume she purchased CS4. I looked
online and sent a support request to Adobe, but wondered if any of
you fine people have seen or heard anything like this. We don't
have CS4 yet, so I can't test this in house. I could download the
demo, but that's more work than I want to do, lol!
    Thanks!

Unless the users can publish by themselves, you will have
issues when CS4 users submit drafts to CS3 admins.
    Better upgrade soon.

  • Sending Publisher Connection Key gives Admin Rights in Contribute CS4

I manage numerous remote sites around the country remotely using Contribute CS4. Each site uses a common template with different header images and left navigation.
All of these sites function beautifully except one. On this particular site, sending a publisher connection key allows the user to connect to and edit pages on the site. However, the connection shows my (admin) email address, gives the user admin rights, and then puts a lock (.lck) file on almost all of the files, including the .CSS file. It also gives odd messages about workflow errors.
From my end on the Contribute Administer Websites panel, the user shows up as publisher, but on their end, they have admin rights and my email address displays on their connection
I tried deleting all of the files in the _mm and _notes folders and starting over, but this did not fix the problems.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Did you try re-creating Publisher keys for them, and sending it to your client? Also, with the existing key which your client has, what is the Role information for that connection key? This can be checked in the My Connections dialog.
Where is your e-mail address being shown? If it is in the My Connections dialog along with the connection name, then that is because the administrator's e-mail address is shown there.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connection keys for 2.0 users

I currently administer employees having Contribute 2, 3 and
CS3. New Contribute users get CS3 but old users are still on 2 and
    3. I also train users so I have all 3 versions on my PC. Since
installing CS3 I can no longer send connection keys to version 2
users who have had it reinstalled due to getting a new PC or having
an old PC re-imaged. When I try to use Contribute 2 to send a
connection key I am told that it is being administered by a newer
version of Contribute yet sending a connection key from a newer
version results in the users getting a message that the connection
key file is corrupt. How do I send connection keys to my version 2
    users?

I tried again this morning by entering the following:
    Identify Administrator:
    First Name: Edwin
    Last Name: McGee

    Next -->
    Name Workspace:

    Next -->
    Justify request:
Development and Testing via OTN APEX Forum.
    Next -->
Enter Verification code: blah-blah-blah-blah not really, but it doesn't matter what I enter here because it is different each time)
    Submit request -->
    Resulting page:
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("FLOWS_030000"."WWV_FLOW_PROVISION_COMPANY"."COMPANY_NAME")
    Error requesting Workspace: .
    Return to application.
It is interesting to note that the page where I enter the verification code does not show any of the data I entered previously (e.g. First Name, Last Name, etc.).
I am running Windows 2000 Professional with administrative privileges and MS IE 6.0.2800.1106 128-bit cipher SP1. I also have Java Plug-in 1.6.0_01and I am using JRE version 1.6.0_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM. I suspect that this is probably a local issue, but did not encounter this problem when I initially configured my first workspace. Thanks.

I have been sending connection keys to other user in different location and I don't have any problem except tthis particular user in this particular location. Any help will be appreciated. Thansks!

Do you have CS3 and your user has CS4? If so, this is exactly problem I have, which is currently with Adobe Tech Support for resolution.

  • Tecra M10 - Stuck CTRL key issue -- perhaps to do with BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.
I recently switched my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP) and it soon developed the dreaded "stuck CTRL key" issue. This causes the keyboard to behave as if the CTRL key is permanently depressed. Sometimes hitting a combination of keys, or bringing up the onscreen keyboard, temporarily solves the issue, but then it returns.
It seems to be an issue many people have, with no simple solution. I've looked at every thread about it I can find, and tried many things to do with drivers etc. without any success.
So firstly, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to learn it!
Then, there are two things I've not yet done: update BIOS and disable pinch zoom.
I was looking at the following BIOS update:
    http://www.toshiba-asia.com/sg/support/drivers/details/25244
... which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
However version 3.00 is labelled "For PTMB0* ONLY". I don't know what this means or whether it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?
For the pinch zoom, I've been told that disabling it does sometimes cure the CTRL problem -- but I can't find any pinch zoom facility on the M10. I suspect it simply doesn't have one. Is that right?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi
    > I was looking at the following BIOS update. which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find some numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR
The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E
I assume your notebook belongs to European series.
In such case you should check the Toshiba EU driver page for possible BIOS update.
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
However, on Toshiba EU driver page you will find also the BIOS v3.0 for all European Tecra M10 units.
Anyway, back to the CTRL button issue: guess what, you should connect an external USB keyboard and should check how the CTRL button acts.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the CTRL button of internal keyboard is affected and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.
PS: it could be possible that the option "sticky keys" has been enabled. To disable this function, you have to press SHIFT button 5 times in the row.

  • Will Adobe CS3+CS4 work in OS above 10.6.8 ?

I want to continue using CS3+CS4, mainly Dreamweaver CS3 and Fireworks CS4, plus some Photoshop & Acrobat Pro in CS4. All ran well on my mid-2007 Macbook Pro (MA896LL) with OS 10.6.8. But this MBP failed recently, due to heat, and for my next Mac(s) two options are a 2010 Macbook (MC516LL) that can run OS 10.6, or a 2012 Mac Mini with i5 (MD387LL) that will not run OS 10.6 but does offer other benefits. (of course, running an OS higher than 10.6 also offers benefits!)
Will Dreamweaver-CS3 and Fireworks-CS4 run properly in all ways, with higher OS, with 10.7 or 8, 9, 10?
Does the kind of computer make a difference for this? For example, would these programs behave differently in OS 10.9 on the 2010-Macbook or 2012-Mini? (probably not, I assume)
These questions are important in deciding what to buy, but... now, because I don't have a Mac, I cannot do experiments (try the two programs with each OS) to see what happens. So I'm hoping you can help (thanks in advance!) by sharing your experience and knowledge.
FWIW, the Mac programs in CS3 and CS4 are 32 bit, if that makes any difference in OS-compatibility.

Yesterday the Macbook arrived (made in 2008, so it runs 10.6.8), and two installs (CS3, CS4) were successful.  For the next set of installations,* if Adobe requires a de-activation would the following plan work?
____My conclusion, after writing the paragraphs below, is "probably not" because (if Adobe doesn't check to see what computer CS is activated on) accepting this kind of de-activation would make it easy for someone to fake a de-activation by cloning the hard disk of a still-working computer, de-activating CS3/4 on that cloned disk-image, then continue using CS3/4 on the still-working computer and also (because they have fooled Adobe into thinking it's not active) an extra computer, using only one of the two activations.  So this probably isn't allowed by Adobe.  If necessary, probably I'll just have to contact Adobe, with the repairman to confirm the failure of my Macbook Pro with one of the CS3/4 installations.
    ____Well, here was the idea:
____My recently failed Macbook Pro had CS3 and CS4 installed.  The repairman recovered the entire hard drive (200 GB) and put it onto an external hard drive (4000 GB) as individual files and also as a cloned disk-image.  To de-activate, could I re-start the new computer in the old 10.6.8 (with "Startup Disk" in System Preferences) using this disk image, open Dreamweaver-CS3 (then deactivate) and Fireworks-CS4 (then deactivate)? Would the CS3 and CS4 on this disk-image be recognized by Adobe as being "one of my previous installs" that therefore would not count as being active, after they're deactivated?
____How to do this? I don't know much about clones. To get the old CS3/CS4 "recognized by Adobe" would this require putting the cloned "old Macbook Pro" into its own partition of a hard disk?  Or could I just start from the individual files of the un-cloned OS?  (In "System Startup" today, on another external hard disk I saw an OS 10.6.3 from a backup many years ago. I could choose it and re-start in 10.6.3, but... my question is about how to re-start so Adobe recognizes the old CS3/CS4 as a "previous activation on the old Macbook.")  Or maybe I could connect the hard disk with this cloned "old Macbook Pro" to my old half-working iMac, and de-activate CS3/4 from the iMac.
___ * The 2012 Mac Mini should arrive today, but I won't try CS3/CS4 on it (to see if it will install, and will run OK on 10.9.5) until later.  After doing the experiments, I'll report back about the results.

  • T400 stuck key issue

I bought my T400 2764-CTO in last December, and started using it on mini dock without any problem. Until recently, it starts to show stuck key issue randomly (not always failure) both at boot up or under Windows Vista.
    ERROR
    0210 Stuck Key FF
    Press <F1> to SetUp
Note: the stuck key keeps changing, sometimes 13, sometimes 1F, sometimes other key.
I opened the laptop, and checked the connection of the keyboard but couldn't locate any problem there. Can this be a keyboard issue? Or even a motherboard issue?
Can Lenovo swap a new keyboard for me? If so, what do I need to do then?
    Thanks!
    Best Regards

You can call Lenovo service, and log a service call, they will make the necessary arrangements. If you are not confident with bios update then please don't do it youself, and let the warranty department do it for you, as any mistakes can make your laptop useless and you will be paying couple hundreds of euros to get the motherboard replaced.

  • CS3/CS4 protecting against SQL Injection

    Hi:
I was wondering if the newer versions of Dreamweaver like CS3/CS4 do a good enough job to protect against SQL Injection when using the built in Insert/Update/Delete behaviors or should I use Commands with Stored Procedures (MS SQL)?
    Thanks!
    Mitch

David , Günter - many thanks for your help !
In my ignorance I appear to have been misled by my website host who, in response to a related problem, informed me as follows:
"your website's scripting does appear to be highly vulnerable to SQL  injection attack, this can be easily seen via the following example:
    /s-sub_detail.php?cat_id=TEST
As  you can see, arbitrary data entered as the cat_id variable of the shopping cart  script is being passed unchecked to the SQL server, which is then returning a  notice relevant to the data passed (in the above example case this is an  "unknown column" error) - This effectively demonstrates that your shopping cart  script performs no validation on variables used within the script and passes  them directly to the SQL server, which means arbitrary commands can potentially  be added as variable data for the SQL server to execute.
In order to  correct this all variables and any other posted data used by the shopping cart  script must be fully validated by the script itself before being passed to the  SQL server so that SQL commands cannot be executed by simply manually entering  these as a script variable".
Thanks to David I understand the issue with the need for data validation but the response above appears to indicate that they believe there is more to it.
David and Günter - I would welcome your response to the above and perhaps recommendations for SQL injection vulnerability testing.
    Kind regards
    J

  • All copies illustrator crash, cs2 cs3 cs4 Leopard 10.5.8 powermac 1.8 dual

I crashes every time i open it. it suddenly started happening. i could get just past  the opening pane at first allowing me to choose what kind of document to open print rgb etc, the it stopped doing that. i get the opening pane the it crashes, it aslo happens in past copies cs2 cs3 cs4 non of my illustrator copies will open

It could be an issue with your font caches.  Go get fontnuke and try deleting all your system and application font caches.
It doesn't sound like a preference issue if it's affecting all the other versions.  Do you have the suite installed?  Is Photoshop working properly?

  • Connection key doesn't work

    Hi, I have Contribute CS3/Dreamweaver CS3. When I create a
connection key, then send it to a user (or try to use it myself) I
get the message "Your FTP username or password is incorrect." In
testing: I create a key in DW/CS3, place it on my Mac deskcop, then
open Contribute CS3, double-click the key, I get the message. If I
create a new connection in Contribute CS3 as admin, I can get in to
edit site. I create a connection key, place it on my Mac desktop,
remove the connection in Contribute CS3, then double-click the new
key, I get the same message. Same problem for clients. All sites,
all clients. I can walk a client through manually adding the
connection and it works just fine. Anyone with any ideas why the
    keys don't work???

    Thanks for sharing.

  • InDesign CS3 - CS4 compatibility and backwards compatibility

About to purchase InDesign CS4 for the PC. A colleague in the non-profit association I will be sharing projects with uses CS3 on a Mac.
Are there any issues with us exchaning InDesign files from CS3 -> CS4 and from CS4 -> CS4?
    Regards
    Ian

CS3>CS4...usually no problems, you can use InDesign´s native file format indd. You may have some difficulties with fonts if you transfer files from Mac to Win or vice versa. Specially with some older non-open-type fonts. You can´t use same font with both OS, so you must have own versions for Mac and Win. And they will not always match perfectly.
CS4>CS3 works if you export your file to INX format. You will face some problems if you have used CS4 features that doesn´t exsist in CS3... and of course you may have issues with fonts too but that´s not really because of indesign. You will have same font issues with other softwares too, if you transfer files between Mac and Win.
