CS3 curser lag

I've been trying the trial of CS3, and I'm encountering major performance issues which I can't fathom.
At first I tried it on my old machine, which was good for its time, but perhaps getting a little dated.
I built a new computer just last week, which is very powerful (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400; GeIL 4GB 1066MHz memory; Nvidia GTX 260) and CS3 performance is even worse than it was on my old machine.
Simply moving the mouse around on screen results in horrendous lag (the screen flashes each time this happens) to the point where it's so frustrating to use that I close the program. It generally runs fine; it opens and loads files and does its thing without any problems, and I've certainly noticed a big increase in performance when opening massive files, but moving the actual curser around the screen is an absolute nightmare, which results in general use being a nightmare. Zooming in and out with the scroll-wheel makes the whole screen flash too.
I haven't got a clue what's causing this, as people I know who use CS3 haven't encountered the problem. CS2 runs like a dream.
The OS I was using on my old machine was XP (32 bit), while I'm now using Vista 64.

Oh wow, turning Aero on actually fixed it, I don't believe it.
That makes no sense whatsoever.
Haha, oh well, you've solved my problem, thank you!
Any idea why turning Aero off caused that problem? The reason I turned it off in the first place (besides the fact that it's ugly) is that it would increase performance, not hurt it.

  • CS3 Cursor Lag & Stutter

I've done a search and did not find a solution.
When working in Photoshop CS3 I get a horrible lag on my cursor if I use the space bar to enable the hand tool and move around the canvas with my mouse.
The problem disappears as soon as I use control + space bar and zoom in or alt + space bar to zoom out. However the very next time that I use the space bar to move around, the delay comes back until I zoom in or out. This happens with my mouse or my Wacom tablet. It makes the Wacom tablet almost unusable.
    Specs:
    Vista32 Ultimate
    Intel Quad Core Q6600
    4Gb Ram
    nvidia 8800GT video card
The Wacom people said, "That's just how it is for everyone. It's a problem with Adobe software." Judging from the lack of post on this problem, it makes me think I'm an isolated incident.
    Thanks for any help,

cs3 has all updates applied? mouse drivers updated? video drivers updated?

  • Flash CS3: Serious lag when Switching between Applications

I've got a serious problem with Flash CS 3 on my Macbook Pro,
    which makes it almost unworkable.
When I'm working in flash, switch to another application
(Mail, Illustrator, any...) and then switch back to flash. the
program freezes for at least 9 to 10 seconds: The Menu's are all
transparant and greyed out, and the only thing I see is the beloved
    "beachball" spinning.
Needless to say that this makes it very hard to work with the
program, since switching between apps is a big part of my workflow.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
I have re-installed the whole CS3 suite (twice) and even
cleaned up my computer and did a clean install of OS X!!
    I'm running on a 15" mac book pro (2,33) with 2gig memory,
    bought last may.
    Any help is welcome,

I'm having the same problem as well. I was using Flash 8,
thought I would upgrade to Flash CS3 and solve the problem but that
was no good. There's still a long lag time when switching to Flash
from any other program. Not sure if it's a Memory problem or a Font
problem. Any word on a solution for this annoying problem?
    I'm running a PowerPC G5 with dual 2.0ghz processors and 2.5
    GB of ram.
    Thanks!

  • CS3 playback lagging out of nowhere!

To start off, I'll give you my specs:
    MacBook Pro
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    2.66 Ghz
    4 GB of Ram
    OSX 10.5.8
    Adobe Premiere CS3 version 3.2
Adobe Premiere used to run completely smooth for me. For months, everything was fine. Today, out of nowhere, it has started to lag. I have not changed any system settings or any settings within Premiere. However, for some odd reason, it lags 3-4 seconds every time i try to play my timeline. It never did this before. I thought that maybe I had to start rendering my timelines, so I did, and it didn't fix it at all; I've still got the lag.
Now, I know 3-4 seconds isn't a long time... but it's quite annoying when I'm in a rush editing something (this lag really adds up when you're doing short/quick cuts). I also shouldn't be experiencing it now, considering I never did before.
Does anybody know why it's doing this out of nowhere?

I'm really unsure about my hdd speed.  However, here are all of the specs I can get:

  • CS3 Error, Lags up Photoshop

    (( I have CS3 Extended ))
I am getting an error about 10 times each time I open Photoshop.
It says "The application has failed to start because MSVCRT10.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
This does nothing besides lag up Photoshop for me. I have most of my ram towards Photoshop and it still lags like crazy. I was wondering if there WAS any way to fix it besides re-installing.

    SOLVED:
In Photoshop CS3, the msvcrt10.dll missing error was caused when I copied Filter Factory plugins from the Content disk supplied with CS3. I also needed to copy msvcrt10.dll (206kb) from the Content disk into my Windows/System32 folder and then the error went away.
The number of times the error appears when you start up Photoshop, is the number of plugins that are looking for the file. If the error appears 3 times when starting up, then you have 3 plugins looking for the file.
Photoshop should continue to run properly after all the errors have gone by, it's just certain plugins won't work.

  • Illustrator CS3 - curser with a life of its own!

I have a curser problem will all the tools in illustrator under windows vista. When I try to select a point, scale, or draw any object the actual active area of the curser moves! For example if I draw a box the start point is in the middle of the pen tool. If I try to select a point with the arrow tool it will not let me and I have to click on a random area around the actual point untill it is selected. The most annoying is when scaling an object, when I try to click and drag a handle the curser moves to the side, away from the handle all by itself! I have been using illustrator for almost 10 years and I have never seen anything like this, please help!!!
    Regards Dave

    David,
You didn't mention whether your mouse was wireless/wired, optical/ball/other ...
Mice are interrupt driven. Check to see if you have any IRQ conflicts in the Control Panel-> System-> Hardware-> Device Manager. Also check the IRQs in Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> System Information. Are any devices sharing interrupts with your mouse? Also the more you tax your system resources, the more likely you are to have issues with interrupt-driven devices.
If you have a ball mouse is it clean inside? Twist open the bottom panel and clean out the gunk. I clean the roller ball with alcohol and a Q-tip on a regular basis and use a pen knife to scrape gunk off the x and y rollers, and blast it out with a little dust off. (while everything is unplugged of course).
If you have an optical mouse, what kind of surface are you working on? Optical mice don't like very smooth, very coarse or reflective surfaces. I've tried a variety of surfaces and the cardboard backing from a pad of paper is the best lo-tech solution for me. I've actually placed my laptop's optical mouse on a glass table and the cursor went shooting off the screen.
Assuming you have any of the following items, have you tried: changing the wireless channel on your router; temporarily turning off wireless; temporarily pulling the batteries on your wireless keyboard; switching channels on your wireless keyboard or mouse (see the hardware manual); moving your wireless dongle to a USB port on the front of your PC; changing the batteries in your wireless mouse?
If your PC is hidden away under the desk or in a cabinet, the signal strength may be low causing the pointer to behave erratically. Reflective glass surfaces (windows) behind your computer may also interfere with the signal.
    Hope some of this helps.

  • DW CS3's Lagging FTP synchronization time

The title of this message does what I wish DW CS3 would do...
Get to the point. I came to this site seeking a solution to my slow
ftp issue. but no. DW8 ftp process worked so much better. I am
tempted to paste the new icon on the old application so that all of
my Adobe icons match my Macromedia Dreamweaver application. I am
frustrated. sigh... Just change the ftp process back. Everything
    else seems cool.

FTP isn't what determines the timestamp. It's the local
    system clock that
does. If you are seeing a difference it is caused by
    discrepancies between
your clock and the server clock.

  • Lost AFP connections after upgrading to 10.6.7

    Hi all,
I've just upgraded our OS X server to 10.6.7. All seemed to go fine, but for some reason now none of our users are able to connect to AFP shares any longer, they just get back an error in the Finder saying "connection failed".
I've tried looking in the AFP log files and I can see authenticated connections coming in ok. I've also tried disabling AFP and just using SMB and everyone is able to connect through SMB fine.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong or how to trouble shoot this any further?
    Thanks in advance.

To add my two cents: I upgraded the server to 10.6.7, but clients were still on 10.6.6, and didn't encounter the problem. We are using Active Directory logins via Kerberos though, so presumably just didn't run into the clear-text password issue.
My own hassle (briefly for now though, as might need to start a new thread on it) is that my users are still frequently getting these cursed lags/lockups when saving files to the server. I was praying the update would fix that, ho ho.
Also tried updating one of the clients to 10.6.7... no better. Similar lags if I try SMB instead too. Didn't get all this nonsense under Tiger, and lost count of all the tests & changes that have been tried, including clean SL re-installs.
It's driving us all bonkers, so any clues would be welcome!

  • Issue with HP Bluetooth Mouse z5000

I love this mouse. It worked great, scrolled smoothly across my screens. Now it lags. It holds up. I changed the battery, but it continues to have the same issue. I have tried completely removing it from the bluetooth profile on my computer and reconnecting it back. I get the same issue. Help! I love this mouse!

Yes, just purchased the same mouse works well but only sometimes.  Depending on the weather I guess. After connecting via Bluetooth the curser lags, judders, accelerates and stalls, not keeping up with your hand movements at all. Similarly the mouse key presses can lag and be quite retarded. The strangest thing it does this based on no known or obvious conditions.  I get it to work eventually by re-booting the PC. Problem is that it takes 5 or 6 re-boots to clear out the issue. I have tried to download the drivers but HP only have drivers for the z6000 and not the z5000.
Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this, and more importantly, how to fix it?

  • 3 Month old laptop performing like its 7 years old

    Hi
My HP notebook is 3 months old but is performing like it is 7 years old.  It is extremely "laggy" and struggling to perform even the simplest of tasks.  I am constantly getting the "not responding" dialogue at top of screen and the mouse curser lags and jolts.  I am not a gamer nor do I download movies or music.  It is only ever used for browsing.    I have done several whole computer scans and found no viruses or malware.  I did a number of system restores, but to no avail.  I then did a "refresh" using the update and recovery section of my pc.  Unfortunately this has not helped.
Has anyone any suggestions as to why this woud be happening? It is still under warranty as only 3 months old and to be honest I just want it gone.  I'm now back to using my old Asus which is 5 years old and performing light years ahead of the HP.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Hi T4M,
Thanks for your response.  Yeah, it came with windows pre-installed.  I just opened it up and turned it on.   I am not very tech savvy so I hope I give you the correct information...

    Operating System:  Windows 8.1 64-bit

  • Photoshop cs3 and cs4 brush lag /snow leopard 10.6.6

Having occasional brush lag using these apps. Not due to wacom, does same with mouse. Discussions going on at adobe forums. I have ATI 5770 in mac pro 2.8 quad. Don't want to update to 10.6.7 due to font/pdf issues. Spoke to apple person, who couldn't say if the new update had specific fixes for graphics drivers. Anyone having same problems?

?Did you have a PowerMac before, and did you use the Migration Assistant?
How about some normal good system maintenance?
CS3 on a Mac Pro running SL may or may not work the best on mid-2010 Mac Pro.
Your mac by default was set to boot into 64-bit kernel mode. I assume you switched to 32-bit.
How about RAM and storage setup? disabled Spotlight and moved primary scratch to non-system drive?
To elimiate any confusion, change the "PowerMac" to what you have, a Mid-2010.

  • Very Long Lag at "Scanning for Plug-ins" in PS CS3

PS CS3 lags for several minutes while the splash screen displays "Scanning for Plug-ins". PS loads and seems to work properly after the 2 - 3 minutes lag, but it's annoying.
I have deleted the preferences file, the plug-ins cache file and even the entire settings file in PS. I've tried shift-ctl-alt. I've chkdsk'd my primary drive.
This is a fresh install on a new os install (winxp sp2, current updates).
Any ideas? I swapped mobos to improve performance and this is a drag.

Update: Connecting the scanners to complete driver initialization did not resolve the problem. Even rolling back my changes and removing the Nikon Scan and Epson Scan software did not resolve the slowdown at the PS plugin scan.
I noticed that the Epson software took 4 minutes to load when I ran the app (Epson Control Panel or something like that). This is really strange. I removed the scanner software but that has not resolved the problem. I do have a network HP all-in-one. (OfficeJet 7310xi). Does that have twain drivers? Nothing shows up under scannners in control panel.
This is really weird. My system has a dual-core processor and 4 gig of memory.

  • (CS3) Lag issue on Vista

    Hi,
I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows Vista Business last night. After installing Photoshop CS3 however, I noticed a very serious lag issue. I looked into the problem a bit on google and this forum but did not reach a solution.
In general, the issues are as follows:
    1. Opening and closing even the smallest of files takes a ridiculous amount of time.
    2. Moving the mouse cursor over the toolbar or menubar requires up to 3 seconds before a response is received.
    3. Right click menu requires up to 3 seconds to appear
    4. Application of any tools shows a noticeable delay of action.
The most common suggestion is the "Network Printer" solution, which was not helpful to everyone including me. I also tried to change the performance settings and the cache level according to the optimization guide on this site, that also did not solve the problem.
I tried to run the software in XP pro SP2 compatibility mode, did not make a difference in performance. Disabling all the graphic options for Vista such as Aero Experience also was useless.
I'm just wondering as to whether we ever did reach a solution to resolve the issue or is this problem still left hanging?
CS3 ran fine before my upgrade from XP Pro SP2, I do not believe my hardware specs have anything to do with the lag issue. Yet, I'll leave it below just in case you guys need it as reference...
    Acer Aspire 5672:
    Windows Vista Business Edition
    Centrino DuoCore 1.66GHz T2300
    2GB 667MHz RAM (1GB x 2)
    ATI Radeon X1600
    120GB Hard-drive

    Bob:
I've stated the Network Printer did not apply to me,
    thanks a lot still.
    ID.Awe
    - I do not have any MS mouse/keyboard software installed
    - all auto updaters I can think of are turned off
    - I actually have NO anti-virus installed whatsoever XD
    - and indexing was stopped before I made this post
    The strange thing is....
I went to sleep and left my computer on for the night,
when I woke up, the lag issue was simply gone....
I've restarted my computer and tried running all the usual softwares I have running, CS3 still seem to be stable.
Thanks for everyone's help, I will come back if the problem persists in the future.

  • Brush lag in CS3 and CS4

Got a new 2.8 mac pro, 10 gb ram, 10.6.6, both versions have intermittent brush lag. Size of brush not a factor. Replaced prefs, didn't fix.  Not an issue on old G5, running tiger 10.4.11. I'm sure this is an old topic, but I've looked around and no one seems to have a for sure fix. Did wacom runarounds. Assuming it's a snow leopard thing. I know there is another os update.  Anyone have ideas or fix?

Redid prefs in both versions, have one plugin which I turned off, and that didn't change things. Real intermittent, can be working for a while and it will happen and then not for some time. These were both new installs. I did the font validation thing, which I hadn't heard of. IT people I work with advise not to update to 10.6.7, they've found problems, and are not doing the update in an ad agency, so I'll follow their advice on that. Weird that it occurs in both versions. Would be nice if a Adobe employee had some feedback, other than the guy that responded to me. Seems he's a professional responder. Had no issues on old computer using tiger and cs3. I've done a google search and come up with people with same problem and no solid solution.
