CS3 DemoPalette.jsx doesn't work in CS4?

It doesn't seem any of the CS3 DemoPalette scripts work with CS4. Can anyone verify this?

Such as? If you tell me what you're missing, then I bet that I can point you to a better solution.
BTW, the individual scripts that are called from the old palette still work. (I just tried most of them.) It's just that the connection between the old palette and the scripts is broken if you try to run the old palette in the CS4 context without also transferring the called scripts, too. So, if you really want to use one of these old scripts, you can run it by itself without using the old palette script.

  • Photoshop CS3 Crop Tool Doesn't Work

    Does everyone's crop tool work correctly in PS CS3? Mine doesn't and I wasn't sure if this is a flaw in the software.
    ND

    I just ran into a crop problem, too. I've been using the demo CS3 for about 25 days with no serious problems, on a Macbook Pro. I have a file with 2 layers (background and background copy). I tried to crop the image, with the background copy layer highlighted. When I do, the whole screen goes black (as if I have cropped the whole image into nothingness). The tiny thumbnails on the layers don't show an image, but two squares (2 halves of the thumbnail) of faded colors. I opened a completely different image, and tried cropping that, and I get the same result! I double checked and I am not cropping to any weird size or resolution. This seems like a big bug, if it is a bug!

  • Re-installing CS3 (Design Premium) doesn't work

    I had a crash on my iMac. When I tried to re-install my (in 2007 purchased) CS3 software, I got the message that it was an invalid serial number.
    Also "redeeming" the number through the site doesn't work.
    I have used the software for 7 years now, why doesn't it work anymore? I payed a conciderable amount of money for it, 2400 euro's and I want it to work again soon!
    Please tell me what to do, or what you can do!

  • ID CS3 - text wrap doesn't work at the end of a long multi-columned text frame

    Did a search - don't think this specific issue has been addressed:
    We design large graphics often used on walls. When working with a text frame that that was 11 feet long and had 8 columns, text wrap would not work on an image placed in the last column. The same image with the same text wrap applied will work fine anywhere else in the text frame. I found that if I shortened the width of the text frame a little bit at a time eventually it would work, but there doesn't seem to be a specific cut-off width - sometimes the last column won't text wrap when the frame is 115 inches wide and sometimes it doesn't work when the frame is only 80 inches wide. Again, all of the other columns work fine. I have tried all of the obvious stuff, the only variable between the columns that wrap and the one that doesn't is it's position at the end of the text frame.
    We have gotten around this issue by using multiple threaded frames instead of one long frame with multiple columns, but I am curious if anyone else has run into this or might know what the issue is.
    thanks

  • "Zoom Resizes Windows" doesn't work in CS4

    I have the "Zoom Resizes Windows" option checked in Preferences. However, when I use the scroll wheel on my mouse (which is assigned to zoom in the Photoshop software), it only zooms in/out on the image within the window. WHY do they put the option in there when it CLEARLY doesn't work???
    I have my image document windows "undockable", so that I have the flexibility to move them around and zoom in/out as I please when I have more than one. But the zoom does NOT zoom the document window. It keeps it the same size while moving the image within it. This "Zoom Resizes Windows" option is NOT working.
    Is this a joke, or am I missing something? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

    I too am having the same issue as Whintersby. I find that it is not pixel related as much as it is the physical size of the resized window.
    Note the lower right corner. Once the resize dragger disappears the window will no-longer resize up using the CTRL ++. Unless you first physically drag the corner with the mouse a little. At that point the functionality returns. As Whintersby  has said it is quite frustrating and quite disruptive to a solid work flow.
    If anyone has found a solution to this it would be quite helpful.
    For any Adobe techs that might be here, I am on Win7 (64).
    While this may possibly be a moot point as I intend to upgrade to CS5, I want to make sure that it gets resolved and does not simply continue into CS5.

  • Faux bold doesn't work in CS4

    In CS3, I can create a clip with 2 dynamic text fields - fld1
    is say, Myriad Pro and fld2 is Myriad Pro with faux bold turned on
    from the properties panel. I can then do...
    fld1.htmlText = <b>Bold text</b>
    and fld1 text appears in bold text because the faux bold font
    was embedded in fld2.
    CS4 doesn't have a faux bold, and when I go to the text menu
    and choose bold, it doesn't faux bold fld2, it actually changes the
    text to Myriad Pro Bold. The bold tag no longer works, neither does
    the strong tag. I can, however, use font face tag and set it to
    Myriad Pro Bold, and now fld1 will show up bold.
    Now let's say I want to put all my text content in an
    external XML file so the client can update it and I don't want to
    have to explain the inner workings of Flash and tell them that they
    can't use the bold tag, they have to use the font face tag and set
    it to some random name that I come up with for the bold font
    library symbol (in case we don't want to use Myriad in the future).
    Do I really have to set up a function to examine strings for
    the bold tag and replace it with the font face tag? Is there really
    no way to get the bold tag to work?

    Hi monkeeboy
    Wow, this has had me really thinking hard and doing a lot of testing and I think I have the answer.
    Believe it or not my posted example is actually working. That said, there is an issue.
    The way Flash renders the bold version of the font is almost imperceptible. You can see this if you zoom in on the Flash file in the Flash Player.
    I also tested it with the italic face and it works fine and is much clearer to see. In the images you posted it is also working but looks more like the font is a slightly different color, as I said almost imperceptible.
    I have added 2 screen grabs below (both taken with the font turned off in the system), one with the swf at its normal size and the other zoomed in by control clicking on the swf and selecting zoom in. It is quite clear in the zoomed in one that Flash is using the corect versions of the font and they are being correctly accessed in HTMLtext using <b> and <i>. However, I agree, the way Flash renders the bold face is not bold enough and also not consistent.
    So the problem really is the way Flash renders embedded fonts, especially bold faces. I have realised this is more of a problem than I thought as I did a test and found it varies a lot.
    If you create a static text field using the embedded bold font, a static text field using the bold face without embedding the font, and using the method I described earlier, the rendered weight is different every time. This is something I am going back to the team with to look at.
    One thing that might help you int the future is that with Flash Player 10 we have included a seperate and new text engine that is based on the Adobe text engine found in apps like InDesign. This is finally a trully high end text engine that supports a huge list of features and renders beautifully. To access it currently in Flash CS4 you have to use ActinScript, however on Labs, we have added a beta version of the Text Layout Framework component - http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/textlayout/  This provides an interface in Flash to implement the new feature.
    Cheers

  • Changing file associations doesn't work after CS4 install

    I am running into an issue on any machine I install CS4 on in which I would like (for the time being) to keep CS2 or CS3 on whereby the Open with in get info always defaults to the particular CS4 app, no matter if I set it to CS2/CS3 and hit change all. You can do an individual file and set the .indd file to open in ID CS2, but if you try to force a change all to default any .indd file to open with ID CS2, it reverts automatically back to ID CS4.
    I have tried this on various workstations with differing OS's, Tiger, Leopard, and all yield the same result. It is like no matter what you do all the CS4 apps have precedence for whatever reason and cannot be universally overridden. Any ideas or others that have run into this?
    I have use Onyx to clean up the Launchservice databases and to clean up associations, have thrown out some plists, etc. and nothing is working.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Brian

    Thanks, Bob. I will take a look at, but it might not be exactly what I was hoping for as I was hoping to avoid the user from having to drag files onto something just to open them up.
    Any ideas why CS4 overrides the ability to globally set the Open with to CS2 or CS3 but you still can on just one document?
    Odd behavior.

  • CS3 print fix doesn't work - any ideas

    have CS3 (all available updates) + WinXP SP3 - I can open one photo & close it without problems. If I try to open a second photo via bridge or direct from "My Pictures" I get the error msg: could not complete your request because of a programme error.   Used fix "Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 6 crashes when you open more than one image (Windows)" i.e. created a dummy printer as a default which worked initially but no longer. Any other ideas? Thanks

    Is the dummy printer still default?
    Are you opening/saving files or printing over a network?
    You could try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
    You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
    This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
    1 I have tried using a dummy printer as a default AND as I have two printers, the one I do not use to print photos as the default. No joy either way.
    2 No I am not on a network - the printers are directly connected to my PC
    3 Tried your suggestion of resetting preferences as per the FAQ & the link provided (thans for that) but still no joy
    I dont know if this helps at all: When I open the first photo I do so, so as to use page set up (with view to performing a batch print). I alter in that dialogue box from the default printer to the one I wish to use. On closing the 1st photo I have tried both "save changes" and "dont save changes". Neither makes any difference if I then try to open a second (or indeed the same 1st photo).
    Any other ideas or is it simplier (though more costly) to upgrade to CS4? Incidentally any idea if CS5 is due soon?
    Thanks again

  • HelloWorldUI.jsx doesn't work on MacPros!?

    This is confusing. I thought InDesign scripts written in JavaScript would work on both Mac and Windows machines. I was at school working and thought I would pull up a script I was working on and the Dialog box for my script wouldn't appear. After a few other attempts of not figuring it out, I just downloaded the JavaScript sample scripts that go with the InDesignCS3_ScriptingGuide_JS.pdf. I tried running the HelloWorldUI.jsx and nothing would happen. I tried this on a couple other MacPros and still nothing would happen. I could run other sample scripts with User Interfaces like AddGuides.jsx. What on earth am I doing wrong? Please help! My Ego is suffering and who wants that?

  • DW CS3 Mac eyedropper doesn't work

    My eyedropper won't pick up colors outside the swatch panel.
    If I click on a CSS class (say, "footer") in the CSS panel,
    then click on the pencil icon to edit properties, then click in the
    color sample for "Background color," I get a color swatch panel and
    an eyedropper. The eyedropper allows me to pick colors from the
    swatches, but if I hover over part of the page I'm designing, the
    color correctly changes _temporarily_, in motion, to whatever I'm
    hovering over, BUT nothing happens when I click, and nothing I can
    do will change the color of the item to the color the eyedropper
    was hovering over.
    I don't know if it's relevant, but the color I was trying to
    pick up was that of a "false column," where the color of a vertical
    sidebar is actually a vertically tiled "background image" set by
    CSS.
    This is driving me crazy. I have to memorize the hex for the
    color and then type it in every time.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

    Oh for crying out loud -- I feel like such an idiot! :)
    It worked like a charm.
    I have used Dreamweaver since MX, which is a number of years,
    and I have routinely used the eyedropper to grab colors from all
    over the place.
    Maybe what confused me is that I not only switched from a PC
    to a Mac, I switched from a desktop PC to a MacBook Pro, so I'm
    using a trackpad instead of a mouse. Maybe the awkwardness (I'm
    still not used to it) of dragging on a trackpad while holding down
    the (one and only one button, on a Mac) made holding that button
    down not "feel" like what I had done before.
    Thanks so much!

  • #include Doesn't work in AE CS4

    Anyone have a work around for the "#include" javascript in CS4. Used an external file to drive some text in my comp in CS3, but the same script doesn't work in CS4. I even downloaded a comp from the
    Graymachine.com
    website to check and it didn't work either.
    I'm on a MAC, by the way.

    The problem is that whatever is in the file has to be valid JavaScript syntax. I think it would be tricky to get that to work with a bunch of spreadsheet data.

    I am using CS4. Can I open CS6 files? I am receiving "plug-ins not available on your system" messages and I'd like to open anyway but clicking on OK doesn't work.

    InDesign CS4 can open .indd, .indt  and .inx files from earlier versions, but not from later. It should, however, be able to open .idml files saved or exported from newer versions, with the understanding that unsupported features will be lost, text will probably reflow due to differences in texts engines between versions, and that the greater the gap between versions the more likely there are to be noticeable differences from the original. You will need to be sure CS4 is at version 7.0.6 to read the .idml.

  • Previous & next page on same page trick doesn't seem to work in CS4

    I am working on a book of around 500 pages and would like to have a previous and next page number on my right page.
    So I did some research on this and found the threading text box trick which seems to work fine if I do it on a page in my document.
    But if I try to do it on my masterpage it doesn't work properly.I am not really in the mood to do this manually.
    I am working on CS4 and from what I understand this seems to be a CS4 specific problem or bug because it works fine in CS3.
    The only solution I found is to put the threaded page number boxes into a seperate layer on your master page and when your doc is finished you can override all your master page items (while you keep other layers locked of course).
    Things get a bit tricky when you start inserting new pages though and it's not the ideal solution imo. So I was wondering if there isn't a better trick to pull this off. You can do so much with Indesign, that a simple thing like this isn't as straightforward as I thought it would be, really surprises me.

    This is, unfortunately, a bug.  I reported it and got a response from an Adobe engineer who is investigating it. He was unable to reproduce the problem from my description, so I sent a sample file, and I presume at this point they are figuring out what to do to fix it, hopefully in the next dot release and not in CS5.
    That doesn't help you now, unfortunately, and it sounds to me like the layer idea is a really good one, better in fact than anything else I've seen or come up with myself.
    I'm curious why you want to do this. I've never personally had a reason to do it, but you are at least the third person here in the last couple of months, and that's a trend. What is the purpose for having a next/previous page on every spread, or even putting both page numbers on one page?

  • CS3 Extension that initializes a JS-Object during startup is not working in CS4

    Here is a simple Extension that works fine in DW CS3 and doesn't work in DW CS4 (trial version):
    The File myObj_Startup.htm was placed in Folder Configuration/Startup. It initializes a quite simple Javascript-Object during Startup of DW.
    Content of myObj_Startup.html:
    <!-- MENU-LOCATION=NONE -->
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>beim &Ouml;ffnen</TITLE>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript">
    myObj =
         showMsg : function (msg)
             alert(msg);
    function onOpen()
       myObj.showMsg("startup");
    // SCRIPT ENDE
    </SCRIPT>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY onLoad="onOpen();">
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Besides this, an additional menuitem was defined in menus.xml to use the JS-object myObj:
    <menu mmstring:name="menus/DWMenu_File" id="DWMenu_File">
            <menuitem name="Test" command="myObj.showMsg('Testing');" enabled="true" domRequired="false" id="DWMenu_File_SIEMENSTEST" />
            <menuitem mmstring:name="menus/DWMenu_File_New" key="Cmd+N" command="dw.newDocument()" enabled="true" domRequired="false" id="DWMenu_File_New" />
    With Dreamweaver CS3 everything works out fine: I get a Alert-message: "startup" during Startup and when I'm clicking Menu->File->Test I get a Alert-message: "Testing".
    With Dreamweaver CS4  (trial version) I get a message: "startup" as well but when I'm clicking Menu->File->Test I get no message.
    Instead I get a Logfile "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\Logs\DW JavaScript.log" telling me:
       JS Error:
           myObj is not defined
           filename:
           lineno: 0
           While executing DWMenu_File_TEST command in menus.xml, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
           ReferenceError: myObj is not defined
    Why is this simple extension working in DW CS3 and not working in DW CS4?
    Did they change the treatment of JS-objects initialized during startup?
    Is the object out of scope?
    Are such extensions not working in trial versions of DW CS4?
    I cannot explain this behavior - please help!

    Hi,
    I have an similar problem and couldnt find an workaround for the problem.
    When i add an new menu item to the menus.xml file, the menu item shows up, but my custom command (simple alert) wont trigger.
    Can somebody please help?

    It's not 100% clear from your post, but you should be aware that CS5 plugins should not work in CS5.5. Because of a CS5.5 bug, CS5 plugins will load in InDesign 7.5.0, but that is fixed in 7.5.1 so they will not load.
    You should lean a bit harder on Virginia Systems. They should be able to tell you how to get them the stack trace from the crash which they should be able to look at and tell you which plugin (if any) is responsible for the crash. I could do it for Mac OS X but I don't know how under Windows. You could start by looking at the Event Viewer, though. That may have some helpful information about the crashes and the faulting module.
