CS3 Design Premium - Acrobat error on installation

Hi,
I have the CS3 Design Premium Suite. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I wasn't having any issues with it. I primarily use Photoshop/Dreamweaver/Flash, but was happy to have Acrobat and the Reader for functionality.
Well, I reinstalled the entire suite, due to issues with Photoshop. I thought it was best to start out clean again, so I installed everything. I do believe that was the beginning of this new issue. :(
When the suite installation was complete, there was an error message. It read:
Errors 1 Component(s)
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (at install older versions get upgraded)
Component install failed
It wasn't kidding, it really did fail! I can't even use Adobe Reader for my .pdf files anymore. :(
I attempted to uninstall the product and I was unsuccessful in that. I then did a repair/install and got the same error message. I changed the name of the existing Acrobat folder on my computer, so the install would have to create an entirely new directory. The install still fails.
It all worked before and I have not added any new hardware to my system.
I am running Windows XP Pro, SP3.
and for those that know me on these fora this next sentence is unncessary, but for those who do not know me, yes, it's a legit, non-pirated version of the software! ;)
Thanks for any help!
Hopper

thanks graf, I'll head over there.
back ...
I did try some of the suggestions that were mentioned in someone else's post and they didn't work for me. I'll make my own post. I did see something mentioned about issues with SP3 ...
Hey, do you have a link for the cleanup utility from MS (didn't look yet, just thought I would ask in case you had it handy! ;))
thanks!

  • Trying to reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS3 Design Premium - I receive an error saying I need to insert Photoshop CS4 to continue install. How to do this???

I recently got a new computer and transferred programs over to it (it's a Mac Pro). But now my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional application no longer works so I need to reinstall. (Acrobat 8 originally was bundled with CS3 Design Premium.) I no longer have the disks for these programs, so I downloaded the CS3 Design Premium from Adobe's website. Upon opening up the .dmg file and starting the install process, I'm prompted with an "Install Error" telling me: "Please insert Adobe Photoshop CS4 to continue installation." I do not have a disk for PS CS4. How do I continue the install??
    Thank you,
    -Kristine

Transferring files between machines doesn't work for Adobe applications.  You should uninstall anything you transferred over and use the cleaner tool for it.  Then download and install the CS3 suite as a whole.

  • Please Insert Adobe CS3 Design Premium to Continue Installation

    Hey there,
I purchased the download version of CS3 Design Premium 3 years ago. I backed up the program to a DVD-R and my external hardrive. My computer crashed and I found was unable to install from my back up copies but was able to download it from adobe.com and installation from the downloaded files went smoothly.
When I reinstalled the suite on my Windows Vista Business HP Desktop, however, I decided not to install Dreamweaver. I just tried to install it now. All was going well until I was prompted to insert the CS3 Design Premium installation disc. I inserted the back up disc I made (no other files on it) and the message box won't budge.
All the CS3 components are working great on my system, I just would like to add Dreamweaver. I also would like to protect myself should the download link become unavailable in the future (right now I'm downloading the suite to my computer). Plus it'd be sweet not to have to wait 3 hours to download each time if possible.
So my question is could someone please assist me in making a backup of my software that works so I can reinstall the suite or individual programs in the future?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. And thank you again.
    Liz
Update: I signed into My Adobe and downloaded CS3 to my desktop, unzipped files, and proceeded to install a few components (after deactivating CS) and the same thing happened - Please Insert Adobe CS3 Design Premium to Continue Installation. I have legal copy of this software that was nearly 2,000, and I can't seem to find any solution after searching for hours on end. I've considered buying an upgrade (the box/disc version) but I'm not sure I'd be able to upgrade if I can't get CS3 to move beyond this error message. I'm feeling frazzled If anyone could help me clear this hurdle I would be so grateful.

    Hey Mylenium,
I appreciate your taking the time to write. I have the files backed up on a 500GB WD Passport. I also burned the files on cd and dvd. You hit the nail on the head with the installer getting hung up on searching for "the magic key." Thanks for the advice re more damage than good re installing separate apps. Too bad it was listed an option if it doesn't truly work. Otherwise I would have installed everything on my system the first time round. Helpful to know know for the future..
My concern about uninstalling everything is that I may run into the same issue during installation. As mentioned prior, I was able to reinstall my software after my computer crashed but only from the download link on adobe.com. Yesterrday an adobe rep told me that the link to my purchased download is only active for 3 years. I purchased my software in March 08 and the link allowed me to download just fine but his comment concerned me. Do you know if Adobe has any plans to deactivate links for prior purchases?
I plan on upgrading but believe I will need access to my original software for the upgrade to work. Or does one get a full copy of the software when upgrading to CS 5.5 with a valid license? I know that my Intuit and Microsoft Suite products work that way.

  • CS3 Design Premium installation fails many times

    Hello,
After several weeks of repeating re-installation of CS3 Design Premium, I am still struggling on it and get more frustration on Adobe products. I installed the CS3 products 2 year ago; all products on CS3 suddenly stopped working anymore for some reasons 3 months ago. I couldn't recall what I had done. I was not in hurry to fix it up even I failed on the re-installation at that time. However, I need to work on a web site recently. I need the software badly and couldn't re-install it successfully.
I could only install Acrobat 8 professional successfully, but the rest of products (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, AI, InDesign, Flash, Bridge etc...) failed.
Product: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium (that runs on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2)
    My steps for the re-installation
    1) Dig up information from Adobe Knowledgebase for related topics
    2) Uninstall CS3
    3) Uninstall Adobe related products
    4) Uninstall Macromedia Firework 8
    5) reboot
    6) Install Windows Clean up utilty
    7) Run Adobe CS3 clean up script on level 4 (sometimes run more than once)
    8) Reboot
    9) Check sufficient spare disk storage before installation
    10) Disable Firewall
    11) Run msconfig to disable AVG, Adware and Windows Defender
    12) Reboot
    12) Copy Adobe DVD programs to desktop
    13) Run CS3 install program as an administrator
    14) fail again
I lost many days and nights of hard work. Would someone please give me some light to resolve the problem? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Patrick

I have the very same problem.  I have not been able to run CS3 Web Premium on my desktop for about a year.
As I recall, there was a request for me to register the software which I selected 'Remind me later' or something to that effect (I do have a clean license - just didn't want to take the time to register), then... one day it said something like 'This version (or something tothat) can no longer function without a license'.  I thought... that's odd.  At that point I decided to uninstall the Suite and reinstall using my key... logical, right?  No.  The uninstall appeared to function as it should.  Then, when reinstalling the Suite, all goes well until the last screen which notifies me that everything loads except Acrobat Professional 8.  Uninstall again, reinstall again.
Initially, I was running Vista Home Premium.  I honestly thought Vista was the culprit but after my upgrade to 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate (very stable) a day ago, I know that it wasn't.  All I know is that I have a $1400 software that I cannot use.
    Thoughts?  Anyone?

  • Reinstalling Acrobat 8 Pro from CS3 Design Premium, asking for Photoshop Elements 6 CD??

    Hi.
I use a Macbook Pro with Leopard OS X version 10.5.8, 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo, $ GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I use Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium which came with Acrobat 8 Professional. Now, for a while I've been having issues updating Acrobat because it said it had been modified blah blah and something about plugins being disabled, so to rectify reinstall and run updates. I've seen alot of people on forums with this same issue.
For a long time I ignored this as the program was still working, but today it urked me enough to unistall (which I did by dragging it from the applications to trash) and try to reinstall.
So I tried. Put the CD in, selected only Acrobat 8 Pro for reinstallation, all went well until it asked me to put in the Photoshop Element 6 CD.... which I never had. Although the program does come on the CD. So i'm left confused, without acrobat pro and wishing i had never uninstalled!
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Any help would be much appreciated!

I resorted to using the live chat feature that Adobe have on the website. We found that once everything was uninstalled and then just reinstalled Acrobat alone, I wasn't asked to insert the Photoshop Elements 6 CD to continue and everything was fine. No problems. But, when I tried to then reinstall the rest of the suite, it asked for the CD.
So, the way to avoid it asking for the CD was to uninstall CS3 Design Premium completely and then reinstall all the programs. And everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe this was an obvious solution, but I didn't want to risk uninstalling all the programs only to be asked for a non-existent CD when reinstalling.
Anyway, hopefully someone else will find this helpful.

  • CS3 Design Premium installation on new machine

Hi hoping you can advise me as I'm a recent member of the forum.
I'm running CS3 Design Premium at work (am hoping to upgrade the software later this year) and am in the process of getting a new desktop (Dell T3500, 1 intel Xeon W3680 3.06Ghz processor, 6GB Ram, 500MB HD, 1GB video card, Windows 7 64-Bit (tho they may just install XP for now)).  This machine will be 'mine' for the next 5yrs so I want to make sure that I get one that will 'do the job'.
My IT dept have asked me to find out if the above software would benefit from a machine with a dual core or quad core processor, is the support out their from Adobe for quad core processors?  I will admit I have no idea so thought I'd ask you guys .
Any help/advice you can give on the hardware spec would be greatly appreciated.

  • Help: CS3 Design Premium suddenly stopped working, won't reinstall

I have a licensed copy of Adobe CS3 Design Premium for Windows (on a machine w/Vista), and everything was working fine until this past weekend, when I was suddenly unable to access any of the programs (with the exception of Acrobat).  Every time I tried to open one of the CS3 applications, I'd get an error message saying that there was a problem with the program, and I would have to uninstall and reinstall.  So, I uninstalled the entire suite, but every time I try to reinstall, at the end of the process I get an uninformative message stating that "Some problems occurred during installation", and a message under each of the components stating "Component install failed".
Nothing on my computer has changed recently -- I haven't added any software, hardware, or otherwise done anything unusual that might cause this problem.  I use this software on a daily basis, so it's become quite a problem for me.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, always with the same result.
    Any help would be appreciated.

…When I upload the photos to my computer I've previously run them through the DNG converter without a problem…
Had you run the DNG on a Mac before?  On the Mac, the DNG Converter works on folders only, not on individual files (unless you use the Finder to drop the icons of your raw files on the DNG Converter application icon).  From within the application, using File > Open, the icon and names of individual raw files will always appear grayed out.
You need to target the folder that contains the files you want to convert.
CAVEAT: all eligible files in the folder will be converted, including any and all DNG files that may already be contained in the folder.  So if you have any DNGs in that folder, they will also be converted again and the original DNGs may be overwritten.

  • Adobe Creative CS3 Design Premium - Problem with Photoshop CS3

    Hi,
I have been trying to install Adobe Creative CS3 Design Premium for 2 days. The problem is when I try to install the software the Photoshop CS3 is gray out. I can install the all except the Photoshop. I have no idea what  is wrong but has failed to install photoshop cs3. Do I need to unistall the Photoshop CS2 in order to make it work. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I have been looking at my error logs to try to see what my problem is and it only says the word error once at the bottom and I can't really tell what the error is for. It says successful on one line and then error on the next line. Is tehre anyone here that knows these logs well and can tell me what my problem is by reading my error logs?

  • Cannot install dreamweaver cs3 design premium on iMac

I purchased a new iMac and used the migration assistant to migrate everything from another iMac and now I cannot open dreamweaver anymore. I just get a blank error box.
Both iMacs are intel based and are running 10.2.7 (latest OS) and I never had any issues with dreamweaver on the other computer.
Since I can't afford the $1000 to upgrade my CS3 Design Premium, I need to get this working. I can open all other CS3 apps with no problems, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash.. but Dreamweaver has the error box popup.
I tried calling but Adobe doesn't provide support for their products after a new product version is released, according to Rajish the customer service rep.
I tried installing from the disk too, but that didn't work either, it gives me an error that says "Required resources are missing" and then I have to click the Quit button.
So I'm stuck, I can't use Dreamweaver unless I can somehow re-install it, or figure out what didn't migrate properly. Any ideas?
*stressed out... and chocolate is not helping....

Cyberious are you using 10.7.2 or 10.2.7?  Most likely it is an issue with using the Migration Assistant.  For complicated programs like Adobe products it is best to do a fresh install instead of migrating the product over.  Users who use the Migration Assistant often face issues such as yours.
You have a couple different options:
The first and easiest would be to format and reinstall the OS on your new Mac.  Then run the Migration Assistant again this time only bringing over your documents and settings.  You will then want to reinstall the software from your installation media.
Second you can try running the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.  After this is done you will want to run the CS5 Cleaner tool.  For details regarding how to use and obtain the cleaner tool I would recommend reviewing CS5 Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  You can then again install from the installation media.
I honestly would recommend going with option 1.  In the over decade and half I have been doing support some of the worst issues have come from the use of Migration Assistants/EZ Setup solutions.  I have seen people literarily spend hours trying to resolve their difficulties.
