CS3 doesn't have an "Activate" under "help" - how can that happen?
I have installed CS3 purchased through Ebay - advert says never activated. It took the serial number on first time used but when I went to "Help" there isn't an Activate option. Everything I read says use this! All ideas welcome. (using Windows 8.1)
Could be compatibility issues, could be a wrong installer, could be the licensing stuff getting blocked by a virus scanner or firewall, could be a licensing SNAFU with an illegally unbundled volume license.Impossible to tell. Contact support and have them check the serial number after taking your clues from my above comments and checking your system.

Howard has the easiest answer. Or at least, cheapest, since you don't need to purchase an external CD/DVD drive.
The "demo" software from Microsoft's site is exactly the same as what's on the DVD. Install that and activate it with the key in your software box.

6. After you enter your Windows Live ID, you will see a link to download the software. (You will also receive a confirmation email with a link to your My Account page if you prefer to wait and download your software at a later time.)
7. Click Download Now to start the download.
8. Save the file to your desktop. Do not change the file name.
9. When the download is complete, double-click the .dmg file icon on your desktop. This opens the Installer application in Mac OS X.
10. Follow the instructions in the installer screens to complete your installation. -

Wow, Superb troubleshooting so far! Usually for the symptoms you have described, I recommend the sub-step titled “If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode” located in Step 5 of this article:

However, it seems like you have exhausted all of the suggestions in that step. Did you happen to move on to Step 6: Check for third-party software conflicts? If not, here is the excerpt:
Certain phone and cellular device connectivity software from vendors such as Samsung, Nokia, Bora, Novatel, Sony, Android, LG, Sierra, Huawei, Pantech, or Motorola may cause your device not to be recognized. If you have such software on your computer:
1. Uninstall the phone or cellular connectivity software temporarily, and test. Contact the manufacturer of this software for assistance in doing this. If you use the third-party phone or cellular device for your Internet connection, try connecting to an alternate network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
2. Remove iTunes and all related Apple software by following this article (for Windows XP), or this article (for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8).
3. After reinstalling iTunes, test the device.
4. If you still need your third-party phone or cellular connectivity software that was removed, reinstall this software and test your device to ensure it still functions with iTunes. Contact the vendor of your phone connectivity software if the issue returns.
Also, third-party security software may conflict with iOS devices connecting to iTunes. Follow this article to troubleshoot issues that may be caused by your security software. After resolving any issues you may have with your security software, you may need to try the steps in this article again.

After a recent 'update' from Firefox The additional "tab" which used to be at the right side of the primary tab is gone. On the far top left of the page, under the word "File" in the menu bar is a link that opens up a second completely new Firefox page. I do not want this. I want the tab to be in the original position to the right of the primary tab. I have been to 'trouble shooting', tried 'extensions' information and gone to the 'add-ons manager'. Nothing is working. Please help.
I use MS XP.There is only one solution: create a new Standard user account and set it as your auto login account, if you use that feature.
Using what you describe is mostly a false sense of security. Were someone to hack into the computer they could hack into the standard account, so you would not wish to keep any sensitive data in that account. Other things to consider:
Turn on your Firewall in Security & Privacy preference panel.
Use software to mask your online presence such as ProxyCap 2.03, MacProxy, Proxifier, or Hotspot Shield. -
Intel doesn't have a "classic" setting. How can I emulate this?
I used to play Pitdroids when I was younger. However, now that my windows '98 is officially broken and I don't own a 'classic' mac, is there a way I can emulate it? I've heard of SheepShaver and Basilisk, but those require roms from computers you already own. Technically, one could find a 8.5+ rom for SS, but that would be illegal. I don't anything illegal, certainly not on my beloved laptop.

I have iCloud set up fine on Windows 8 and it pulls shared photo streaming great, The problem is that in My Photo Stream folder the photos doesn't charge automatically and is empty, how can I do?

You don't need a CD to download anything; just download & install the trial from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements, then activate it with your serial number.

Run the cleaner, reinstall.

And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

i have a Canon 6d and would like to convert my raw ( CR2) photo's into dng files. Adobe DNG converter 8.4 doesn't recognise the CR2 files. How can i solve this?
It is possible that you are not following instructions correctly in the DNG converter. The DNG converter interface asks for the FOLDER that contains your raw images. Choose the folder, but don't open it. After you have chosen the folder, click on the Convert button. The DNG conversion process should start. Does that help you?
