CS3 DW Workspace Issues

I just upgraded from Dreamweaver Studio 8 to CS3. I'm not a
happy camper. I really don't see the advantages to this upgrade and
in fact I've been running into many stability issues.
Was wondering if anyone else is experiencing workspace screen
refresh issues. For example: moving cursor will reveal the
background color, changing a link style sheet does not update the
screen in the workspace, etc. Even doing a screen refresh does not
solve the issues.
I went back to using Dreamweaver 8 and these issues are not
in that version.
Thanks for any feedback or replies.

DW CS3 works like a charm for me. What OS are you using? Are
your
computer specs better than the minimum requirement?

  • Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

    Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
    another forum here:
    MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
    and Illustrator.

    Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
    And a similar older one:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.

  • PS CS3 No workspace appears after launching app

After launching PS CS3 no workspace appears on screen only toolbars, etc.  After reading other posts on forums about problems with other newer versions it says to turn on "application frames."  But I can't find anything like that in pull down menus. And when I try to click on "Open" PS crashes.  I have a PowerBook G4 (don't laugh) 10.5.8 and PS CS3 10.0.1.  Thanks in advance.

    Susan,
We need to know exactly how much RAM you have and exactly what you have your monitor resolution set to.
If you have less than 2GB of RAM, forget it; I know the ReadMe file says you need a minimum of 512 MB, but that's unrealistic.  It's enough for Photoshop CS3 to launch, but not to work comfortably and consistently.  The monitor resolution should be at least 1024x768.
20 GB of available disk space in practice is marginal for the Mac OS X swap files (especially in case of one of the Leopards) to share with Photoshop's Scratch Disk.  I'm not surprised you're crashing.  Just for reference, I have a separate, dedicated internal 160 GB hard drive just for Photoshop's Scratch Disk alone.
Also, any time a hard drive—any hard drive—approaches 80% used space, you're in deep trouble already.
With a bigger boot drive or making much more space available in your current one, an external hard drive as Photoshop scratch disk, maximizing your RAM to as much as the machine will take (if it takes at least 2GB) and downgrading to Tiger 10.4.11, your G4 PowerBook should run CS3 just fine.
If CS4 ran on Panther, I would even downgrade to it from Tiger; I have no use for Spotblight and the Dashboard anyway and have permanently disabled both.  In the case of Leopard, If I were ever to run it, I would disable the massively intrusive Time Machine and Spaces as well.
That's my personal opinion based on equally personal experience.
    Good luck.

  • Premiere Pro CS3-CONSTANT Memory issues when editing/rendering/exporting

Alright, as said in the title I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and my issues are horrendous
No matter what, within 10 minutes of editing, Premiere will warn and then crash because of memory issues, starting with the message:
"Adobe Premiere Pro is running very low on system memory; please save your project and proceed with caution"
Also, whenever I try to export this project, within 800 frames of a 7000 frame project (currently), it displays the message:
"Error Compiling Movie", and then the previous message above if that hasn't already happened before
And eventually, the program will crash out of nowhere, with random windows errors
    Here's my specs:
    Intel i7 920 Processor
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia 480 GTX
    750 watt power supply
    24" Dell Ultrasharp Monitor
Now, I've noticed that whenever Premiere is getting close to crashing, my RAM gets up to around 4.7 GB being used, and then it crashes.
I have already gone into Edit-Preferences and tried switching from Performance to Memory; that hasn't fixed anything
I noticed that when I was just running my video over and over again, it stayed stable at 4 GB or so, so maybe its a rendering issue?
I have already tried lowering my number of processes running at any given time, including my antivirus program (Kaspersky) and even explorer, but it still crashes no matter what.
    ========================================================================================== ========
This is a SERIOUS issue for me, as even with all the normal crashes I could finish the video; but now I cannot even export my video at ALL without it crashing, and I have a plenty strong-enough computer to handle this, so what gives?
    Please help

Ok, well this has been getting me nowhere
I tried importing (both my CTRL-X method, and literally importing the project), and now the program won't even RENDER the footage, it just errors out at 800 frames (just like exporting)
    What is going on???
I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 all the time, on a separate computer, but I have 6 GB of RAM, is this really impossible???
    EDIT:
And now, even after finally getting it to render (by saving after rendering before what crashed, and then starting it up and rendering again), all my footage looks like crap XP

  • CS3 Page size issue

hello! i am looking for some Dreamweaver CS3 support/help. I have built several websites with my CS3 program but am now starting to build more advanced sites (at least for me) and am finding that i create a site page within Dreamweaver and as i begin editing it and adding photos, tables, etc the page automatically resizes itself and no matter what i do in design view i can get the size back to where it started.
for example, i have a page that started out as 1150 pixels wide. the page has a menu bar on the left side and also has two text tables with print/data inside the main frame - there is a title bar at the top. The issue begins when i add a table with a photo and page heading in the title bar at the top. All of a sudden my page expands to over 2200 pixels and no matter what i do i cant get it to resize - when i try to manually move the border lines all that happens is my menu bar size increases 3 fold and the page just keeps getting more and more spread out..please help!!! (i hope this makes sense to someone!)

  • DW CS3 Check Spelling Issue

Back ground: I have a long IT career but have never really done any web dev before.  This is my first real stab at building a website so this may be a 101 coding error but I had a heck of a time figuring it out so I thought I'd share incase another newbie had a similar issue.
After creating 1,164+ pages for my website, which has not yet been uploaded, I was doing a round of pre-upload spelling, code validations and link checks but could not get check spelling to work, no matter what I did it just wouldn’t highlight on the text dropdown menu nor could I use the keyboard short cut to initiate it. The pages were saved as .htm which is functionally the same as .html. I tried saving a test page as .html but is made no difference.
All other fesatures worked and the code was recognised, previewing in a browser was fine, no problems there but I still couldn't check spelling in DW CS3.
I knew it would be something stupid on my part… well I was right.  This must have happened when setting up the first page for the site, and was experimenting until I got it to look right and feel that way I wanted, I saved it and have used it at the ‘authoritative source’ or ‘template’ for all pages created.  First I created the template from it I created a template for each of the major sections of the site.  From them I have created all 1,164+ pages to date...
I’ve sent this problem to every webhead that I know … I’ve even took it to work and had a couple guys there look at it.  No one had any idea, I think it’s because it was so simple everyone had looked right past it. I finally did a bit-by-bit comparison with another test site that spl chk worked on and even then I missed it because I was ignoring the automatically generated stuff up at the top.
At the very top of the code:
    <!DOCTYPE htmPUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    It is supposed to be:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    <html lang="en">
At the bottom of the code:
    </htm>
    It is supposed to be:
    </html>
Even though you can save this page as a ‘.htm’ file, the HTML notations have to be included.   Take them out and guess what:  ‘check spelling’ disappears. Why spelling does that but everything else still works… who knows, but it does!
I’ve already made the correction to all pages.  Now I can forgo checking all 1,164 pages by hand (or cut-n-past into word) and now I can get the spelling, validation and link checks done so I can do the initial upload for this site.
(I really wish you could check all "text" spelling for the site and spelling corrections as you type were offered... I did put in a request)
    So WOOO HOO!

I'm not sure about what you mean but i do know that if you
run the installation from your hard drive you don't need a disk or
you could get the CS4 trial from Adobe.com and install with the key
    that came with CS4.

  • CS3 H264 Export Issues

I have got an Issue with exported videos through Premiere Pro CS3. I know I am using an old version but I felt no need to upgrade.
I am facing an issue I haven't faced before. I am exporting a video (no footage, just one music track with still images with fades and effects); when I play the video back in all media players, I get strange play back issues. The preview before export plays fine, so it is definitely after the export. The first time I exported the video, it would play find up until a certain point, the video would seem to freeze but the audio contiunes. When I skip through the video, the sync issues become worse. I though if I just played through the who video with no skipping, maybe it would be fine. But it would always freeze at a certain point. I thn exported the video again, this time it was 1080p. I had the same issue but not it was even worse. The video would freeze much earlier in the video. I though possibly I was having issues with playback on my computer, if I uploaded the video to youtube, it would playback properly. There are still issues with playback on youtube, the first 3 minutes seem to be cut off, and at the end of the video, the video would finish, but there would be another 3 or 4 minutes left to allow the music track to end. I am getting audio sync problems but not in the tradition sense, where maybe they are playing at different speeds. The problems seem to be much more complex and the video just freezes at certain point. It;s all very confusing and hard to explain, and I have found no help. I am thinking maybe it's codec problems, but this is the first I have encountered it.
    Premiere Export Settings:
Both video's are MP4 exported with H264 codec
    First Try export settings:
    1280x720
    Data Rate:1778 kbps
    Total bit rate: 2095 kbps
    bit rate: 317 kbps
    audio sample rate: 48khz
    Second try
    1920x1080
    Data rate: 4452 kbps
    Total bitrate: 4642 kbps
    bit rate: 189 kbps
    Audio sample rate: 48khz
    System:
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    6gig ram
The timeline wasn't pre rendered, but I have never done that and never faced problems before.
Here's the uploaded youtube video of the first export:
Leeds Reunion 2015 Mix - YouTube
As you can see, the tracks do not match up with the songs, if you skip to 41:06, the video starts it's outtro, but there is about 4 minutes left to allow the audio track to finish.

For the jerkiness go to your preferences and change the live draw to delayed, or if that doesn't help, maybe never.  The place to go is Edit > Preferences > General.
When you try to past from CS3 to CS5 do you have both open in CS5?  Might sound a dumb question but if you have one open in CS3 and one in CS5 it isn't going to work, so even if you have a document you want to keep in CS3 for the purposes of copying just open it in CS5, it wil convert to a CS5 document and you will be able to copy and paste between them.
One last tip, when converting docs to CS5 from CS3, particularly larger ones, there have been quite a few reports of instability, sometimes leading to corruption, but mind you we only see the problems on this forum.  To prevent this happening the best route is to export from CS3 to inx format and open that in CS5.  YOu can do that automatically with whole folders (and sub-folders) of files with the batch convertor script that is my latest favourite, it is made by Peter Kahrel and is free, you'll find it here.  With that you can use it in CS3 to convert a whole batch to inx, then use it in CS5 to convert those inx files to CS5 indd.  Super handy, really fast, and great for mass exports too.

    Hi EPM Experts,
I am having problems with the Workspaces scrollbars. They are vanishing without no reason.

Any hints to FIX this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

Can you see the calculation manager service in services.msc, have you checked the logs under Oracle\Middleware\User_Projects\epmSystem1\dignostics\logs and\services?
I should have tried redeploying CalcManager and checked the configuration logs.
    Cheers..!!!

  • Upgrading from CS3 to CS5 issues

I work at a medium size College on a pretty small team, 1 editor/writer, 1 communications coordinator, and 1 designer (me). I've been using InDesign (ID) for 5 years now and we added on the InCopy (IC) workflow a few years ago with CS3 (both of us then had CS3). The editor and I just recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and we've hit a snag. I opened a project, the Academic Catalog in fact, in CS5 that we began in CS3 which we were almost finished with and when I tried to check out a story I got this error.
"This story needs to be converted to "InCopy Document" format in order to edit it."
The editor got the same message in IC. So I thought maybe files created by CS3 for IC don't work with CS5 so I decided to try to unlink the INCX files in ID and relink. Sure enough it created a new ICML file which the editor was able to open, edit, and save in IC. And I thought I had my problem solved until I opened the file in ID; when I tried to update the linked file ID crashed. I've tried unsuccessfully to get the updated stories from IC to update in ID w/o crashing. I've restarted the computer; it is Windows afterall. I've run 'Updates' in both our programs, and it says there are none. I've tried tossing the ID and ICML file; fortuanalty I was smart enough to do all this with a copy of the orginal CS3 file. I followed all my above steps a second time and it's still crashing. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a known issue like this?
btw, we're both running Windows Vista and both in CS5 (7.0).

I might just have to go back to CS3 to finish this project up—fortunatly I foresaw an issue like this and kept CS3 installed. That will most likely solve the problem with this project, provided it too does not crash. And that is my concern for future 'new' projects in CS5, are those going to crash too? I think I'll do some testing with my editor.
    Bob,
What type of additional info would help?
    Thanks,
    Colleen

  • CS3 to CS5 Issues

Hi from a first time poster!.
Basically my organisation has upgraded fro CS3 to CS5 and we are having a few performance issues.
Can i configure the preferences so that when i pan around a document with lage images or artwork placed in it the screen does not go all jerky?.
Is this something to do with CS5's live draw function?.
Also is it possible to copy and paste images from a CS3 document to a CS5 document?, currently when we try the images are not being recognized in the CS5 document.
    Help greatly appreciated

  • Painting Workspace issue

We are using Photoshop CS5 on macbookpros running snow leapard and recently we have noticed an odd issue.  When we start up photoshop the Painting workspace tab (on the top where the control panel and application bar are) is momentarily corrupted, scrambled, and pixelated (a bunch of different colored scrambled pixels--looks like a corrupt image).  Eventually, a clear painting workspace tab loads but it takes a while.  Is this normal?
The other things we noticed is that this only happens when we switch to the painting workspace or when we start photoshop with the painting workspace loaded as the default.  It does not happen when the other workspaces (design, photography, etc. are loaded).
We also tried deleting the preferences files and rebuilding them but this did not fix the problem.  Just wondering if this is normal thing or if there is some kind of file corruption or something wrong with the program.
    THanks

    Thanks for the response:
    The Video Card Specs:
AMD Radeon HD 6750M Graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and
Intel HD Graphics 300 with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
There is Automatic Graphic Switching between these two
    The Software Details:
    OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard
    Photoshop CS5
After doing research I am not sure if this issue is caused by:
    1. upgrading the drivers of the graphics cards
    2. upgrading photoshop to the 12.04 update
    3. upgrading OSX snow Leopard to 10.6.5
I basically have to do this on multiple computers so I am trying to pinpoint the cause so that I don't cause stress or work delays for others.

  • Photoshop CS3 Layer Style Issue

I have Photoshop CS3. Ever since I installed it I have had an issue with Layer Styles, one that I have not had before with other versions of Photoshop. Whenever I apply a Layer Style to a layer the Effects menu automatically drops down in the layers palette. I have to go and manually close the menus each time for every layer that I apply the style to. I have never had this problem before with any other versions of Photoshop.
If you have any ideas or advice on how to fix this problem it would be of a great help.

Go to the layers palette options and uncheck Expand New Effects.

  • CS3 Photoshop Layers issues? Snow leorard??

Since recently loading new snow leopard  we are having issues in our Photoshops. Mostly noticed in the Layers pallete. Which will not allow us to right click to select and element on a layer. It moves the entire folder of above elements as a group. Some machines will not allow to right click on an element to find that individual layer any longer.
Any knowledege on issues with the compatibility with Photoshop cs3 and snow leopard 10.5?? Any help or solutions?
    thanks!!

Sorry, hindsight is 20/20, but I paid $170.00 for the system pgrade and personally I like it -- A LOT -- with the CS3 Photoshop exception. I personally have run into no other "bugs" or issues in my workflow, other than this one. I am hoping someone out there has run into the same issue and come up with a fix, which is why I posted.
Perhaps I am assuming too much here, but I don't believe this to be an "Apple" issue, but rather an "Adobe" issue. Why do all the other modules in CS3 load fine on install? Why does a trial of Photoshop CS4 load with no problem. It doesn't make sense to me that others are running CS3 Photoshop on Snow Leopard and I can't. Something is amiss here.
I have used Adobe products for almost 20 years and have been very loyal to them. I keep my programs as updated as possible and have purchased legal upgrades along the way for everything that I use, which is not pocket change to be sure! But, as of a couple of years ago (actually starting with CS3, which gave me issues on install many years ago in Tiger), I have had nothing but issues and problems. No other programs give me issues, which really sucks since Adobe is such a major part of my workflow.
