CS3 Education Version on Mac_Timeline Issue

Premiere works fine most of the time, but occassionally I will have issues within the timeline.
What happens is I will be zoomed in on some portion of the timeline, and I will grab a clip with the selection tool and simply try to drag it over to where I want it, but as soon as I grab the clip and start to move it, my view of the timeline suddenly snap-scrolls to left several seconds. If I am zoomed out a ways it doesn't happen, but I obviously can't perform fine edits that far zoomed out.
Anyone know why this is happening?

Have not seen, nor have I heard of this behavior. Were you on a PC, I'd suggest first checking to see if you have the InteliPoint mouse driver (not likely on a Mac), as it can do some weird display things. Next I'd suggest downloading the latest video card driver. Do not know how this might/might not apply to a Mac. Last, on the PC, I'd suggest looking at two other display areas - OpenGL and video accelaration in the video card's setup. I just have no clue if any of that applies to a Mac.
Good luck, and hope that someone else has seen (or read of) this, and knows exactly where to look,
Hunt

  • CS3 Education Version on Mac_Scratch Disk Error Message

    - Last time I had this error message, I clicked yes, and when my project opened all of my media in my VERY LARGE Premiere project became unlinked. It was a nightmare relinking everything. How do I get around this?
    - My theory as to what caused this was that I reset all of my scratch disk preferences (media cache, waveform, etc) to go onto an external harddrive instead of my main harddrive on my Macbook Pro which it was originally set for. For some reason it doesn't seem to be able to remember that it was set to the external.
    HELP!!
    Thanks.

What is the location that you have chosen for your Scratch Disks? I normally locate these in the Project hierarchy, and obviously on the same disk as the Project.
As Harm mentions, if one has unlinked Assets, it is a sign that the original location has changed.
As for your Scratch Disk location being Write Protected, we'll need more info, from the question in the first paragraph.
    Good luck,

for a correct answer, you'll have to check with the people at
    the adobe
online store customer service or with an authorized academic
    outlet.

You won't have to uninstall- the new software will go into a
    different
folder and won't interfere or overwrite anything from the
    previous version.
You can still use the prior version, but if on windows you
    can't run it at
the same time you have cs3 open. You can manually uninstall
    it or parts of
it if you wish to save HD space.

Hello. I would like to activate my CS3 Educational Program (version 2007) on my new computer. Unfortunatly he is not accepting my serial number. What can I do? I have delated the program on my old computer but it doesn't accept the activation on the new laptop.

Make sure you are using the  correct serial number.  Find your serial number quickly
If you did not deactivate the original installation then it is possible your two allowed activations have been used and you need to reset your activation count.  To do that you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.  If you ask for more than that they will tell you they cannot offer you any support.
For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...

  • Can you still purchase an education version of CS3

I have an old G5 mac which my work has kindly offered to give to my daughters primary school for the art room. Im wanting to get an education version of CS3 for them but unsure if its available for purchase any more? As its an older Mac i think it only has OSX 10.7? (will have to check) so unfortunately the creative cloud versions wouldnt work.
thanks for any help and advice!!

Thanks Steve, Yes this is what Im worried about, If we have an old version of CS3 which we have used to upgrade to other CS versions, is it possible to transfer the license over, but still keep the license for the more recent CS?
i appriciate your help, just trying to think of how to get a legitimate copy for the school.
    cheers

  • Cs2 Illustrator education version will not install on mac

I installed the education version of CS2. Illustrator and InDesign won't install. Photoshop, GoLive, Bridge, Acrobat and Version Cue install fine.  I completely uninstalled CS2 and re-installed it.  In the dialogue box that asks if you want to install the entire suite or selected components, I can't select entire suite and if I click Selected Components, Illustrator and InDesign are greyed out and not selectable.
Anyone have a good idea why this is happening?
    Thanks

It will. You can't install CS2 after installing CS3 or 4. Doesn't work. Uninstall the CS4 and dump all files, esp shared libs. You may have to use the CS4 Clean Script to remove all the associated parts.

  • Student version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended version question!

My school is now offering the student version of CS3 Extended. Is there any difference at all in the student version versus a full retail version? Any help is appreciated!!!!!!

If history is any indicator, the educational version should be exactly the same as the commercial version.
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402371
"Many Adobe products have versions created especially for the Education market. The Education versions of Adobe products are fully functional and identical to the retail versions, although there might be differences in packaging or marketing."
"For example, sometimes retail products include promotional software (such as free fonts or clip art) not included with the Education version. Additionally, because Education products are already discounted, they may not qualify for other pricing discounts offered to non-Education customers."Oh, and before I forget:

  • Upgrade from 4 Education version to CS4

    Hello,
We recently purchased the upgrade to CS4, we currently have 4.4 Education version.  When I try to activate and finish my installation by entering the serial number I have issues.  The serial number I have begins with letters and has a different amount of numbers than the one CS4 is requesting.  Is this a compatability issue between the education version and CS4? Did we purchase the wrong upgrade?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I didnt even know contribute went to 4.4 I thought 4.1 or 4.11 was the last version in the 4 series.

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended upgrade from CS3 Student Version

I was looking for the Student upgrade from CS3 to CS4 for Photoshop, but could not find it.
I only saw the regular upgrade edition, not the student one.
    Could anybody please help me?
    Thanks in advance

There is no such thing as a student upgrade. Your educational version of Photoshop entitles you to upgrade to the commercial version of Photoshop but you'll pay the same price as everybody else.
I'm assuming that ($199.99) is still cheaper than buying a new, full educational version.

  • Upgrade CS3 Education edition to CS5 Web edition

Is there any issue with upgrading CS3 Education edition to the new CS5 Web edition? I would just purchase the CS3 to CS5 upgrade?

There is no CS3 Education edition.
You have a regular CS3 suite (standard, premium, master, web, etc) which can be upgraded to a new CS5 suite... you just paid the educational price for CS3.
The CS5 product pages on adobe.com show upgrade pricing for whichever CS3 suite you have.

  • Serial number not valid (education version)

I've bought and used an aducation version of CS 6 prem web.
This is not a license for a certain period (a year or so) because this was not in the license papers or on the receipt.
As far as I knew when I bought it, it is a licence for as long as I am entitled to a education version.
Suddenly I can not open the programs, the serial number is not valid anymore!
Can you please tell me how to proceed?

Adobe-user-jaa if the license is no longer valid then please contact the reseller who issued you the license.  Is the serial number showing as valid under your account at http://www.adobe.com/?  You can find more details on how to locate your serial number at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • CS2 Pro to CS2 educational version

I am having problems opening a CS2 file from work to my CS2 educational version at home. I didn't think it mattered but I keep getting an error message saying I need some plug-ins that my version does not have. The LILO.APLN and CELLSTYLES.RPLN. I continue then it just says I can't open it and says I need to update all plug-ins or upgrade to latest version. Why can't I open a CS2 professional on a CS2 Educational version? I there a workaround? HELP!!!!

    I'll second Peter's observation. You're not using CS2 at work. You're using CS3.
There's NO DIFFERENCE in the software between education and commercial version. They are IDENTICAL.

  • Updated Education version Full Commercial

I need to update my serial number from Education version to
    Full version.
    Thanks for your help.

Hey Shelbie, the really good news is, when you do graduate and want to use the programs for true commercial work, then Adobe does give you a great deal to upgrade to the full commercial version from your student version.  I upgraded from my student version of Web Standard CS3 to Web Premium CS4 for $559 compared to having to pay $1499 for it.  It is a huge savings compared to what someone off the street has to pay.

  • Using education version for professional/commercial purposes

Can anyone help me out with this? I've gone through Adobe customer support, in several different manners, and get several different answers to this.I've also found different answers on the forums too.
I am currently a student and using an education version of Web PremiumCS4, purchased through Adobe, with a valid student ID. I am getting interest in freelance work and would like to eventually use my programs for professional uses. However, from what I understand, that would currently go against the educational product license agreement.
To me, it would make sense that a student using the product to learn how to become a professional, using the product for their career choice, would eventually want to use their same copy for commercial reasons. So far, I've been told I have to purchase the full version with the commercial license in order to be able to use it without legal concern. Why in the world would I purchase the product all over again when the copy I have is exactly the same, just the legal agreements are different?? Ive also been told that I can trade in my educational product, receive credit for the price I paid and pay the remaining difference to buy the same program, just with a commercial license.
    Clarity please!
    Thanks,
    Shelbie
