CS3 Exporting/Resizing problem

Hello
Although I have some basic experience I am not great with any of the Creative suite products. I usually will search and resolve any issues that I get but I could not find an answer to this one.
I have been putting together a project in Adobe premiere CS3. All of the AVI clips in the project are exported from Adobe AE. A few of the AVI files were slightly the wrong size and so I adjusted them using the little handles in Premiere. In one circumstance I forgot to put an element into an AVI clip and so just put a PNG image ontop of the clip in Premiere.
As I am nearing the end of the project I decided to trial exporting the piece, to my dismay almost every clip in the project has either resized or moved quite far from where it is actually placed in the project. In turn the PNG image is no where near where it was originally placed. While previewing the project every thing is fine, but after several exports it always ruins it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most answers are coming from the newsgroup, where a bump
doesn't have
any effect except for adding more noise to the discussions.
It won't
push the thread back to the top, which is why it's considered
pointless
and annoying by almost every newsgroup regular.
And even in many web forums bumping is frowned upon,
especially if it's
done just a few hours after the initial post. In some
moderated forums
such frequent bumping may cause a deletion of the posting or
even a
temporary ban from the forum.
If you still think you have to do it, please wait at least 12
hours. But
as said - it's rather pointless.

  • [SOLVED] GNOME 3.8 annoying window resize problem

    Hello all fellow early-adopters :-)
A very annoying quirk I've noticed, moving from GNOME 3.6 to 3.8, is that it no longer remembers, nor retains, the size/positions I set for many of my application windows. For example, my mail client (Evolution) is sized to fill most of my screen (centrally), with Empathy and Skype as long narrow windows on both sides - giving me a nice, broad "communications" overview on that particular desktop (with dev tools etc open on others).
On 3.6, this layout was retained during my session, as well as next time I started these apps up.
In GNOME 3.8, not only does it insist that these windows are always started as small little bunched-up windows that I need to resize, but every time a window displays a notification/warning (message in internal yellow bar inside the window - such as loss of internet connection, mail retrieval failure etc) it resizes the windows spontaneously to a stupid, small size that overlays the other windows. This is driving me crazy!
Where can I learn a bit more about how window sizing / positioning works in GNOME 3.8, or is it finally time to switch to awesome wm? I want to love GNOME 3.8, I really do. It's so slick, but so... unpolished.
I want to dig in an assist with problems like these, but I need some pointers to some background material first to understand the problem. Is it the window manager? Is it the app?
** UPDATE: Doing a full system upgrade, as of May 18, 2013, has resolved this annoying problem. My windows now stay where they belong, and start with the same size they were closed with. GNOME is now pleasant to use again :-)

I really like GNOME 3.x though (and would like to understand the windowing behaviour), but if the annoying quirks are insurmountable, I will happily switch.
Man I love GNOME 3.x. I admire the courage they had to change, basically, everything, and I find myself more productive with my GNOME 3 Arch box than with my good ol' Slackware KDE 4 box. I just hate those bugs - for example I filed a task in their bugtracker for this window resize problem I have with gedit. If it's a love/hate relationship, I think it's marriage ^_^
With the 3.8 upgrade, deadbeef was having a similar problem with window size/position. I just recompiled it against the latest GTK+3 package upgrade (that came after the 'big upgrade' here on Arch) and it was fixed. But not with gedit

Man I really hope this gets fixed soon, because aside from this one incredibly annoying issue I am loving gnome 3.8.
I get the feeling gnome badly needs more beta testers, sizable regressions like this in "stable" releases happen way too often sad.
I get the exact same feeling. Well bugs exist everywhere, there's no denying. But I think it would be wiser to 'alternate' the nature of each major stable release - one focusing on new features and one focusing on fixing bugs. For example if the only new features in GNOME 3.10 were the AppsFolder full implementation and the introduction of gnome-calendar, and the rest of the development cicle being devoted to fix bugs, I'd be more than happy.
Like Fedora and Ubuntu, the fixed 6-month release cycle colaborates with the bugs. They don't do like Debian or Slackware which are released 'when they are ready'.
EDIT: fout (yet) another bug. At least with facebook chat (haven't tested with other telepathy plugins) the buddy tray icon appear duplicate. Anybody with the same issue?

  • Preview Application Resizing Problem

    Preview Application Resizing Problem
Microsoft platforms have two significant advantages. The first is the concept of an operating system that can function with hardware that ranges from cellular phones to desktop computers. The second is that Microsoft has excellent software development tools
for creating and testing computer programs.
Software compatibility across hardware platforms requires not only meeting CPU and memory requirements. Application programs must be able to automatically adjust Window and control sizes to meet the needs of available window sizes, video display unit sizes
and screen resolutions, switching between vertical and horizontal viewing, vertical and horizontal scrolling, changes in font sizes , and variations in the available screen space due to usage of vertical and horizontal toolbars.
Software developers must be careful that resizing doesn’t squeeze controls too close together or make them so small that they cannot be finger or stylus selected when used with touch screens.
Some of the required automatic resizing options are provided by the Microsoft software compilers and the Windows operating system.  Softgroup Component’s “.NET  Forms Resize” is an example of one of the third party applications that provide advanced
    resizing functionality.
Many of the resizing functions are programmer options and, if not properly enabled, an application may not have the required resizing functionality. At the current state of the art, application programs are highly variable in their capability to do the “intelligent
resizing” that is required to handle different display environments.
A case in point is the Microsoft Preview Application for Windows 10. When entering lengthy comments, the send button becomes positioned off the end of the program window. It is possible to scroll to the button, but the display automatically resets when scroll
is released. The result is that the text cannot be sent. You can try a "blind" TAB to the SEND button. This appeared to work after several tries, but the comment was apparently not received,

    Hello all,
Lately my illustrator cs3 has been crashing every time I try to save a new file. It is so frustrating after doing all the work and can't save. I work on Windows XP 2002 system. Can anyone help?
    Thanks so much!

Hi Jacob, Just so you know, I was in a hurry and no way was able to buy an expensive product to do my artwork project. I couldn't find older TRIAL versions to download without 3rd party attached  programs & BS that could be bad to do.
But, I need to go back on the forum to say that I rebooted to try one more time and it worked. Don't know why it didn't work the first time around because it was a fresh open of Illustrator, hadn't been working on it for a month then the first time didn't work.
I don't have time to go back on the forum right now got to leave for work. You can mention you heard this from me if you want so that people aren't misinformed.
    thanks for replying

  • Illustrator Resizing Problems

I am having reduction resizing problems in Illustrator CS6.  E.G. Straws & lemon wedge rinds become significantly proportionately wider when reduced.   Also, numerical text does not skew with everything else.  I have a CC membership w/PS & Ai installed.  There are no other Adobe items on my 8 month old imac, Lion 10.7.4 except Flash player & the Adobe Applications Manager.  Additionally, I have no 3rd party plug-ins & deleting the prefs file does not fix the problem.  Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • CS3 - Import and Export Quality Problems with Canon S90 .mov files

    Hi Folks,
I have spent several hours searching with no results in the forums, and I am a beginner with Premiere, so I apologize for any annoying questions I may post.
Here is the problem I am having.  The very first step!  Go figure.
I have videos taken with a Canon S90 point and and shoot camera, in .mov format, 640x480, 30 frames per second.
When I play these videos in Quick Time or Windows Media Player they look great.  Very sharp and smooth video.
When I import these videos into Premiere Pro CS3 - and don't do anything to them besides play them in either the source window or or Program window, the quality is much lower.  They are not sharp, and have an unusual texture, almost like there is a tiny bit of water on the lens distorting the view as it moves.
I imported the video under the DV-NTSC Standard 48kHZ preset.  I have the most updated Quick Time.
I also attempted to improve the view settings to their maximum with no results.  I also exported the video to see if it was just the viewing, but the exported video is even worse.  Very low quality and not sharp.
Thanks for any suggestions on the correct settings to import these videos without loosing quality.

Well, I have read and understand the Codec aspect a bit.  I have discovered that my
files are avc1 H.264 Codec.  Doing more research it appears that CS3 Premiere Pro has some trouble editing H.264 files.
So from what I gather so far, it looks like my best bet would be to convert the file into another format that is easier to edit by Premiere.
    Is that correct?
If so, I am still unsure what to convert it to.
What is the program that is best to use to convert with?
    Thanks again for your help.

  • ILLUSTRATOR CS3 EXPORTING PROBLEM

HELLO, I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT IM DOING WRONG. IM TRYING TO EXPORT A SELECTED GRAPHIC FROM A CS3 ILLUSTRATOR FILE TO PHOTOSHOP. WHATS HAPPENING IS, INSTEAD OF EXPORTING JUST THE SELECTED ITEM, ITS EXPORTING THE WHOLE PAGE.? I CANT WORK OUT WHAT IM DOING WRONG.

Yo kev, I found the crop area comand in the object menu, on your menu bar at top of screen. I've worked out a crude way of using the "crop area " command to localise objects for exporting.
    1. draw a rectangle roughly the size of graphic you want to export.
    2. go to, object menu, crop area, make. this should make crop marks over the rectangle youv'e just created.
    3. move your graphic ontop of the rectangular area, with crop marks youve just created.
    4. file, export.
so far i havent had any problems with this method.
    give it a go.

  • InDesign CS3 epub export photo problem

    Hi,
I am trying to format a book in epub, using InDesign CS 3. The text styles translate satisfactory, but I have not been able to get inline photos to show up at full galley width. I have so far done about 2 doz tests, with different anchored object and XHTML export settings. I have been able to control the space above and below, to a degree, but the photos always turn out with less than 50% of the linear dimensions they should have.
    Any hints welcome!

One solution is to edit your XHTML files and your Template.CSS.
In your template. Set your image tage to be 100% wide:
    img {
        max-width: 100%
This will increase or decrease you images according to what the width of the screen it is being veiwed on is.
Keep in mind though It allpies to the image size placed in ID. Not the original image size before being placed in ID.

is it normal when i try to export in H.264 Blu-Ray format, there's 3 files created when finished?
    Sequence 01.m4v
    Sequence 01.m4v.xmpses
    and Sequence 01.wav.
and when i try to open m4v there's no sound?
    maybe its really for Blu-Ray.
there's really no way to export it with good image quality for youtube and ESPECIALLY, best sound quality ( at least PCM 16-bit 48-Khz or higher )
im REALLY surprise it can't export in AVI.

    Welcome to the forum.
In your Export setting, go to Multiplex Settings, and chose anything except "None." Then, you will get a multiplexed file, with both the Audio & Video Streams in one file. See this article for more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3557964#3557964

  • CS3, exporting to tape has problems with more than two video tracks

Well, not quite, but that's the best I could do in the subject line.
I record multiple performances and edit scenes from among them.  At times, this results in three or four video tracks on the timeline at once.  Each track is 100% opaque, so only the top Enabled track shows.  By Enabling or Disabling the various tracks, I can get the sequence I want.
And the sequence plays back fine in the Monitor window.  But when I try to Export it to tape, as soon as I get to such a place, the image hiccups around the same small number of frames (think of the video equivalent of an audio sample).
It's not the number of video tracks.  I can add Image Mattes on a third video track operating on the two below.  I can add any number of titles on different tracks.  They need to render, but then they export to tape perfectly.
What's different about three or more .avi tracks, even when they are Disabled?

Thanks, Jim, for your reply to this and other threads.  (Warning:  I had two other questions — been saving them up for awhile — that I'll post shortly.  It was too late already last night).
    > AVIs need to be "read" from the hard drive and can create a bottleneck depending on certain conditions.
Agreed, but unless there is partial opacity in the top Enabled track, only one track at a time is exported.  And in the cases I cited, the unused clips were Disabled.  No need for Premiere to read them at all.  I assume the state of each clip is part of the Project.
Ah well, I was only curious if I was missing something obvious, or perhaps it was a known bug that would be addressed.  Apparently the additional resources needed for tape export push Premiere over some edge.  Remember, I can watch (even Preview) the sequence in the Monitor window without seeing this artifact.
    > Render before exporting to tape is SOP.  Go with that.
Naturally.  And I do.  And if I didn't, Premiere would do it for me automatically before opening the Export to Tape window.
Thanks again.  On to the next thread.

  • CS3 Export Time is WAAAAAYYY too long. What am I doing wrong?

I am not a video editor. I am a web designer. I work for a company that likes to make me do things that I am not really paid for. That being said, I am sorta editing a Quicktime video for the web, and here is my problem.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (for the first time)
    OS: Windows XP Pro
CPU: Pent IV 2.8 gHz (yup... she's an oldie)
    DDR SD-RAM: 4 GB
The video is 45 minutes long and contains 86,586 frames. I didn't apply a single effect. And the video was already edited. The ONLY thing that I did to it was stick a 15 second "Works Cited" title at the end of the video.
I literally just imported the Quicktime file, dropped it into the time line. Brought up the Title editor. Typed in what needed to be on the screen. Drag-n-dropped it onto the time line at the end of the video, and stretched it to 15 seconds.
Then I went it File >  Export  > Adobe Media Manager (I think), and when all the drop down menus came up, I chose "Quicktime" as my format, and I set the screen size that I needed 648 x 480; the original Quicktime file was 720 x something, so I'm actually outputting a slightly resized video. The CODEC that I'm using is the one that came up as the default. It was the h.something, like h.624 or something like that. There were so many to choose from, I had no idea.
So anyway... when I clicked on OK, and gave the file a title, it pops up with a 17 Hour 15 Minute render time.
This can't be. What could it be? Is the h.624 CODEC the problem? That is all I can think of. But I don't want to cancel the job... it is now down to 11 hours. But DAMN!
    Thanks guys.

    Hi,
The suggestion to have a pro do it is a good one...if you can run that by your employer...and in fact you can probably find someone HERE to do it for you for a bit less than you would pay normally ( at an editing "house" ) - though I'm not sure about that...just a thought.
Anyway, it looks right off that your machine is not really up to par for editing with a powerful program like Premiere. ( sorry ) AND there are a lot of settings to configure your computer to get the most speed out of it for editing with Premiere...which you haven't done..
It's kinda amazing that it works at all...even at 17 hours...
To get better answers and really follow through with this you'd need to supply a lot more info about your video and your computer...
There are threads here about setting up your hardware and also about "how to ask questions" -- what info to include etc
    Sorry ...no magic bullet

  • [JS]::[CS3] - Exporting a PDF

    Hi folks,
I am having some difficulties exporting a pdf using javascript.
The code I am using looks like this:
    myDocument.exportFile( ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, new File(pathToFile) );
myDocument is a business card sized document. When my script is run from CS4 on a mac this code works fine. It exports a business card sized PDF.
However in CS3 on Windows it exports the artwork into a letter sized PDF. I don't think that it is a Windows problem I just happen to only have access to CS3 on windows and CS4 on a mac.
I'd appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this and give me some pointers on how I can ensure my pdf is the correct size (the same size as the document).
    cheers
    Ben

    Have you setup the exportPresets?
Look at the ExportPDFWithOptions.jsx from the indesign_scripting_guide_scripts?
Your export settings might be different in the two applications.
