CS3 Flash swf not visible on webpage
Hi,
I'm working in Dreamweaver and Flash CS3. For some odd
reason, Flash swf files are not showing up on my webpage. I never
had this issue with MX2004.
I uploaded the java script (new in CS3) but it still shows a
blank area -the swf dimensions - on the page. It previews fine
locally but not from the server.
please help.
Jeff
Sorry to see your use of the DW pop-up menus with templates.
You know that
they are not compatible with them, right? Also, you should
read this
(written by the person who adapted that code for Macromedia
to use) -
http://www.losingfight.com/blog/2006/08/11/the-sordid-tale-of-mm_menufw_menujs/
Also, your template doesn't appear to have been properly
made, since there
is no editable region around the page <title>, nor is
there an editable
region anywhere in the head of the page.
Finally, when I browse to this location -
http://www.worldofgranite.net/photogallery.swf
the Flash file loads, but it doesn't function. This means
that there is
something wrong with your Flash file itself, not with the
page, other than
the comments above, that is.

CS3 Postscript fonts not visible when Installed with Suitcase 11.0 Vista Ult64
CS3 Postscript fonts not visible when Installed with Suitcase 11.0 on Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Truetype and Opentype work fine. I have searched through all the forums here multiple times, but not found a solution. The only workaround I found was to manually put the font files in c:/ProgramFiles(x86)/CommonFiles/Adobe/Fonts.
When I put any font files in that folder, they show up in CS3 for use, but not in windows apps. I thought I would make a permanent work around by placing all of my uninstalled font files in that folder, then use suitcase to install them from there. That didn't work because EVERY font in that folder is available to CS3 and turned on. Do they get installed when you put them in there?? It didn't seem like they were installed, and windows apps didn't see them.
These are workarounds anyway. My main goal is to have suitcase work so I can organize my fonts efficiently. Extensis blames the font and CS3. I have read that there are adobe issues with other font management software as well as suitcase. Any help would be appreciated.Got mine FIXED here is what i did:
Windows 7 64bit SP1, CS 5
Postscript fonts (comprising of *.pfb + *.pfm files) did not show up in any CS5 app, but showed OK in Word, Excel, Notepad etc.
Tried activating through Suitcase Fusion 2 and also through FontExpert 2009 - but neither of them made the fonts visible in CS5 apps
1) open Start Menu/Control Panel/Fonts
2) on the sidebar there is "Font settings" item
3) set the settings as i did
[ ] Hide fonts based on language settings
[ x ] Allow fonts to be installed using a shortcut (advanced)
FIXED mine,
now i can use Suitcase Fusion 2 to install any PFB/PFM fonts without any problems...
PLEASE IF THIS WORKED FOR YOU TOO, LEAVE A MESSAGE HERE SO OTHERS KNOW IF THIS FIX IS 100% WORKING -

Flash is not visible in flash Player 9
Hi All,
I created a swf file using flash 8. But i can't view this in
machines having flash player 9. In all other players like flash
player 8
I can view the flash files. So please provide me your help.
Thanks and Regards,
Johny Johnplease do not cross-post. one forum is enough.
your site works fine in firefox here running flash 9. but if
we don't know what is "invisible" then
we cant really know if it is showing up - in other words - if
we cant see it, and dont know what it
should look like - then we have no idea if it is there and
working or not. Know what i mean?
describe the movie clip that is being loaded dynamically -
describe what it looks like, then we can
detirmine if it working on our end ;)

Firefox Embedded Flash swf not shown in asynchronous desktop
Hi all,
in a jsp I embed a binary property of a content node that includes a flash .swf file. All that in an asynchronous desktop, using Firefox.
I use the follwing code:
"<embed scale="exactfit" quality="high" menu="false" width="600" height="400" hswLiveConnect="false" src="<%=myPropertyUrl%>">
When the page is loaded by "normal" browser request, the flash animation inside the jsp renders as expected. After click on an url (<a> ....</a>) inside the same JSP the portlet content refreshes (via Ajax request), only the flash disappears. After F5 it's back agian.
The problem does not exist with IE!
How do i need to handle this for Firefox?
Thanks for help.Firefox uses the object if there isn't a classid to specify an ActiveX control for IE.<br />
You didn't specify such a classid (classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"), so there is actually no need for the embed in this case.<br />
As jscher2000 posted above, an object tag only works in Firefox if there is a data attribute present (copy of the movie param) to specify the Flash file and a possible MIME type.

I am using TCS 4 with FM 12 and RH 11.
I have an animation built in Flash and published to a SWF file.
The animation is added to a FM doc. Publishing to PDF shows the animation as expected.
I link an RH project to the FM book and the animation is missing. There is an empty frame where the animation should be, and what is in the frame is a blank PNG with a made up name (i.e. filename004.png). I can add the SWF file manually into the frame but it gets wiped during the next update. I can turn off updates but that defeats the purpose of Single Sourcing. There is no setting I can find in RH to manage importing media files.
Any help?Yep, anchored frame.
Adding baggage files did not help.
Embedding or linking within FM did not help.
Starting with your suggestions I did a little testing and found the problem. There are, in fact, 2 SWFs in the one frame, and that was causing RH to give up on the frame entirely. If I only put a single SWF in the frame, it seems to work.
I went back into Flash and glued both SWFs together to make one, which has solved it. However it would be interesting to know if there is a way to have 2 SWFs in a single FM frame.
Thanks for the help. -
Dreamweaver CS3 Remote files not visible
Hello,
I have a problem with DW CS3. When I click on remote view, I
cannot see my files. I can connect via Filezilla, and I can log
onto the remote server control panel and all of the files are
there. The site is working fine. When I try "preview in browser"
command, I get a page cannot be found error. Afterward, there is a
folder visible in remote panel with the temp file in it. Here is
what I have tried so far:
Deleted the site in site management panel and set up again as
new site.
Toggled passive FTP, same problem either way.
Everything was working fine until this week when I started
having problems getting DW to connect via ftp. The connection
became intermittent, then seemed to die. Now when I use the site
management panel to test the connections, they work fine, but I
can't see the files.
I have not recently installed or changed any software on my
PC.
I am using Win XP
Any ideas? Please tell us the following:
1. Do you have a Testing server defined? If so, what are the
field
contents on that page?
2. When you connect to the site and then expand the Files
panel, which
server icon at the top is selected? Is it the one with the
lightning bolt?

Flash swf not running properly in captivate
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is a flash question or a captivate question so I'm posting it to both forums. I have numerous flash cs5 built swfs inserted into a captivate 5 project. All of them are running fine apart from this one. It runs perfectly outside of captivate but within the captivate swf it goes haywire. It's a very simple fla. The only actionscript involved is a stop action. There is a movie clip that uses a number of classic tweens and then there is a layer containing textual explanations for what's happening in the movie clip. When I run my captivate project the swf does one or other of the following:
a) it runs but the movie clip starts earlier than the text and so they are out of synch
b) the text runs as normal but the movie clip does not run at all
c) it only shows the final frame of the swf and nothing else happens.
As I say, it is a very simple fla and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's wrong. I don't seem to be able to attach the fla here, so if anybody thinks they may be able to help please pm me with your email address and I will email you the fla file.
Just to note some of the things I have already considered: the text is all set to classic rather than TLF. The captivate project and the fla both publish as3 at 12fps for flash player 9.
yours hopefully!

Flash is not visible when transparent is set to true
Hi everyone. I'm writing an application in HTML and
Javascript which uses <OBJECT> and <EMBED> to display a
flash. The flash is invisible when transparent = false in the
application settings xml file.
I used the following to HTML code to display the flash:
quote:
<p width="100%" align="center"><embed pluginspage="
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"
src="
http://www.yourminis.com/Dir/GetContainer.api?uri=yourminis/yourminis/mini:youtube"
wmode="transparent" width="370" height="280"
FlashVars="height=270&xheight=280&xwidth=370&width=360&uri=yourminis%2Fyourminis%2Fmini%3 Ayoutube&swfurl=%2Fwidget%5Fyoutube%2Eswf&"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
allowScriptAccess="always"></embed><br /></p>
This is a flash file that is designed to run on a domain
other than where the flash file is hosted on. More information on
the flash at
http://www.yourminis.com/minis/yourminis/yourminis/mini:youtube
So the question is... how do I display a flash file when
transparent is set to true?
OS: Windows XP
CPU: Intel Centrino ProThis means that the SWF is written so that it only works when
embedded in a web page. When you add the SWF to the stage as a
stand-alone display object using addChild() it is not being hosted
in the web page.
You have 2 options:
1. Modify the SWF code (if possible) to remove the
ExternalInterface requirement. You can write code in your AIR
application javascript to subscribe directly to events from the SWF
using addListener() and call functions directly on the SWF object
(Flash/Actionscript is not my primary development environment... so
if I have gotten the terminology wrong I apologize, but I HAVE
written a flash application that worked as I describe). My SWF
actually works embedded in HTML or not using the code "if
(ExternalInterface.available) {
ExternalInterface.addCallback("setIsPlaying", setIsPlaying ); }"
2) Somehow add a HTMLLoader in a new child window (with
transparent = false) to the stage as a new child. I have not yet
figured out exactly how to do this, so If anyone can provide
information on how to do this, I too would be appreciative. -

When HTML is in webroot and calls flash from
Flash_video/Homepage/Scroll/
the flash will appear is if it was in the webroot directory.
It will always seek files it loads from HTML location, not
it's original
location.
You must be mindful of that while authoring your movies and
the paths need
to be adjusted accordingly.
In your case whatever flash loads it can no longer refer to
it by file name
but Flash_video/Homepage/Scroll/filename.swf

Hello
Apologies for posting yet another request for help with
putting Flash Video on a web page! I've spent hours trying to
figure out where I've gone wrong, read through many messages and
tried to follow all suggestions, updated to DMW 8.0.2, ensured the
scripts folder, flv and swf files are uploaded but still get a
blank page online. I'm totally mystified and frustrated. Trying to
see the page online the activity monitor in Safari says the
following files are loaded:
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Halo_Skin_2.swf
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Pinochet.html
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/pinochet_S.flv
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
Background: I exported the clip from Final Cut Pro as a Flash
Video using the on2 VP6 codec and in Dreamweaver used
Insert>Media>Flash Video.
Previously I have managed to successfully post video this way
on the internet but I was using an earlier version of Dreamweaver
(MX 2004), Sorenson Spark and slightly smaller files. I just don't
know what I am doing wrong this time and would be VERY grateful of
any help.
The web page is
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Pinochet.htmlYour file -
http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
is flawed, somehow. It's not calling for the FLV file, and is
therefore a
blank. Try remaking it.

I would like to put a short clip of a movie on a website. The
movie is saved
in MPG format ... so I open
the Flash CS3 Video encoder software and line the movie up in
the queue, in
the settings I specify the
output file name and leave everything else on the default
settings. Then I
copy the flv to the website.
I open my site in DW, tell it to insert the Flash movie
(after I copied it
to the site),
and after closing the dialog it adds the skin file and a
flvplayer_progressive.swf to the root
menu and the, I guess appropriate, code to the page, I save
the page,
preview in IE ....
and, nothing. No movie, no error, no anything, just a empty
white space.
In Firefox it endlessly is trying to download something from
macromedia? But
also just white space.
I checked all the paths in the code, they are correct.
This is on the local server, the "scripts" folder is there.
I played with the different settings in the encoder software
and the insert
dialog, still nothing.
I also checked for the permissions, just in case.
I can see flash movies on other websites just fine!
help!

Flash drive not visible except in disk utility
I have a new MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.2. The invisible flash drive is my main drive, not a USB drive. Not in list of Devices in Finder, no icon on desktop, no way to see it except by using Disk Utility. I see that many people are having problems with invisible flash drives but they all seem to be USB drives. Does anyone know if this is a Mavericks problem, or is it a MacBook Pro system problem? If Mavericks, maybe it will get fixed with next version.
I'm not certain what you mean by "invisible flash drive"?
If you want your drives to show up on yoru Desktop, set the Finder Preferences to do so:

VirtualBox: Flash drive not visible in Windows Guest
Maybe this was better asked in a Windows forum but I'll ask here first
I have an installation of Win 7 in VirtualBox and I can check to use my USB flash drive but although in Windows there's a sound notification that a removable drive was connected I can't see it in the Explorer.
Any idea how I can access it under Windows?Hmm. There is a thread started by yours truly for the same problem (only in x64 Arch hosts), but that was fixed by wonder back in version 4.0.8-2.
Are you also using x64 Arch as host? That thread has "other" solutions. See if those work for you. To be honest, I haven't fired up my win7 vdi in a couple of weeks so I wouldn't know if it works. But I can check tonight.
Here's the thread I was talking about: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121377
EDIT :: Try what wonder says below first, if you haven't already. Then if that doesn't work, try the thread that I linked. -
Hi,
I have a Flex swf loaded into a Flash swf.
I have made the Flex swf transparent, so that the buttons in the Flash swf are visible.
But im unable to interact with the Flash swf buttons.
My Flex swf is working happyily
The Flex swf overlays the Flash swf.
If i change the scrollRect of the Flex swf so the Flex swf is not overlaying the Flash swf i can successfully interact with the Flash swf buttons.
Any ideas?

KyleThanks Alex,
I actually found an old post on a forum where you recommended a similar solution (mousesheld.visible = false).
This seems to work although it messes with dragging (my Popups at least).
But i can work with that for now, thanks for your help.
