CS3 - How to swap media on the sequence?

I will try my best to explain my question, but basically if anyone is familiar with Final Cut Pro, I'm referring to the ability to "linking media" to a clip. Basically I re-organized my files on my harddrive and when I opened up an old edit, I needed to link the media files to all of the clips on the timeline again since Premiere didn't know the file locations anymore. After I did this, for some reason this one file on the timeline was confused by the program and I don't know how to swap out the file with the correct one. If anyone can help me out here you'd be a lifesaver, thanks!

You don't change it in the sequence, you unlink from the wrong media file and then relink it to the correct media file. You perform this action from the bin.  Then it will automatically show up properly in the sequence.

  • How to move a sequence, and only the media in the sequence?

I need to move a 30 min. sequence, and associated media, to work on a different, remote editing system.
I'd like to just get the media in the sequence with maybe 5 sec. handles. Every test I've run through Media Manager has copied each, complete, original media clip (not just the portion used) - many of which are over 20 minutes long - despite having only used a small portion of each clip. (So in the media manager Summary section the bar graph of "original" amount of space used, is always the same as the "modified"). In the past I think this was called "Bounce"...
    2. If I accomplish this, can I email the sequence data only, and have it link up in the original editing system, or will the media file names be so unique that the original system won't recognize them and link up.
Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi -
Question 1: The obvious first question is - did you select Delete unused media from selected items?
If you did, does your media have a Reel Name associated with it?
    2) You can email the project sequence information (you will want to zip it first before sending), Then you can relink to the media as long as the media has the same names. If will be a matter of re-directing the sequence to the new directory location of the media - which you will do through the Reconnect dialog box.
But you might want to just buy an external hard disk drive, copy the media and project there and FedEx the whole thing to your collaborator.

  • How to keep track of the sequence of the BSP Pages being invoked.

    Hi,
How to keep track of the sequence of the BSP Pages being invoked.
I have a BSP Page A.htm. There are two other pages B.HTM and C.HTM in the same BSP Application.
The page B.HTM has a link A.HTM. The page C.HTM also has a link A.HTM. On clicking  these links the Page A.HTM would be invoked. Is there any way to keep track which BSP Page  (i.e B.HTM or C.HTM) invoked the page A.HTM.
Any input on this Regard would be of great help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pavithra

    Hi Pavithra,
    Declare in page attributes:
    appl_url type string
In the onClick event of the link that calls the A.htm page , use:
    call method runtime->get_url
    receiving
    URL = appl_url.
Now appl_url contains the url (also name) of the page that invoked A.htm .
    Hope it helps.

  • How to add media in the album order?

I spent some time to organize the media in Organizer album, but when I open the album to add my media, it appears to be mixed. Is there the way to keep it in the album order?

Seems like this question was posted some time ago, and no one ever replied. So my reply is probably of little use, but I'll post it anyway. When you are viewing the Album components in the PSE Organizer, I assume you are viewing them in the sequence you want to load them on the PRE timeline.
If that is the case, by selecting all of the clips/images, and the clicking on Edit > Video Editor at the bottom of the window should open the clips/images in the same order they appear in the Album.

  • How to remove media on the cloud

For some reason every once in a while when i take a pic it does not save it to my media card instead it placed it somewhere else in a folder. I have called tech support and they said I can remove those pics by managing m y media on the website.  This is false it just shows me what is backed up and i can not remove it.  Help!  i asked them on the phone this morning and they said they can't delete is?? so??
    thanks

That's pretty strange for such an awesome device, Jessie69. When you visit your gallery on your phone, what is the name of the folder these random pictures are being saved to? Do you possibly have an application installed from your Google Play market with an alternate camera, like Instagram perhaps? On most Droids, 3rd party camera applications will create the pictures they capture into a separate folder. You do have the option of managing your media through Verizon Cloud. Take a look at http://vz.to/16HG5v9 for all the easy steps.

  • How to make Premiere remember the sequences in the sequence panel when re-opening the project?

I've got a project I've been editing on ( a feature film) which consists of 100 scenes which are roughly in 100 sequences plus about 100 more sequences from the dialies during the shoot. In the sequence panel I have usually a couple sequences open and of course the master. Then I save it, shut down Premiere, restart it and then later I load the project back in. The result is a complete random selection of sequences in the sequence panel (usually the old dailes) but never the ones I worked on when I saved the project. Anything I can do so that Premiere remembers which sequences I edited on when I saved it?

You did not state what version of PP you are using. However, this was a known issue and was fixed in the 8.2.2 update. What you have to do is create a new project file in 8.2.2. and import the entire project you are having the problem with then save.
Even though this issue was fixed in 8.2.2, just by opening and re-saving a project file will not resolve it. As stated, you have to create a new project file from within 8.2.2., import your current project then save. That will resolve it.

  • What is the correct way to use Version Information from the sequence and from the deployment tool

I seem to be missing something in how the various version numbers are supposed to be used.    My end goal is to log and possibly display in the UI the version of the sequence and which installer version was used to inspect a UUT.   I have gotten most of the way there using:
How Can I Programmatically Query the Sequence File Version of My TestStand Sequence?
and logging this into the report with a function which contains:
    Parameters.UUT.AdditionalData.SetValString("Test Version",1,RunState.SequenceFile.Data.Version),
    Parameters.UUT.AdditionalData.SetFlags("",0,PropFlags_IncludeInReport)
The "Deployment Version" in the TestStand Deployment Utility auto incrementing the 3rd position of a version number  while the sequence auto increment is working on the 4th.
My first question is are these 2 version numbers in anyway supposed to be related to each other?   As it seems to me you would want those 2 reversed, I can make several installers based on sequence version X, making changes to what supporting files are also installed.
If they are not related as I suspect that they are not.  How do I programatically grabed the installer version and also log that into the result report?
is there an option to perform a custom deployment build step to log the deployment version before it builds and then reference that log at runtime of the test?

    Hi,
The sequence file version and deployment versions are not related.
You can build the installer with whatever version you want using the command line :

    Hope this helps,

  • How does Media Manager handle Motion Projects within the Sequence being cop

How does Media Manager handle Motion Projects within the Sequence being copied?
I've highlighted my sequence, opened Media Manager, and copied it to another drive. When I open up the sequence in it's new project, the rendered Motion Project plays within my sequence but it won't let me go back into this Motion Project to make changes. I tried starting over. This time I highlighted the actual motion sequence and clip that is created within FCP after sending something to Motion and copied those to the new drive. When I went into the newly created 'media' folder and double clicked on the motion project it launched. It looked liked it was going to play but while my crops moves and borders were there, the filmed material is shown as a freeze frame for the duration of the motion project.
I did this with and without 'including master clips within selection'. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there anyone who knows the answer to this? Thanks.

  • Premiere CS3: How can you encode xml cue point data in the chapter section of a marker for FlashVid?

    Hi there,
I'm a total newb to this forum, so hello adobe premiere community! I'm perplexed by Adobes documentation on Premiere (and I'm sure I'm not the first ) anyway on the live documents page below:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS9390BED7-9466-46ea-A0E A-3240F1AFC36C.html
    it states that:
“The cue point data in the Chapter field of a sequence marker in Adobe Premiere Pro will be encoded as Flash XML. For the XML protocol required, see Flash Help.”
Which is great…except this information doesn’t exist seemingly in either the Premiere documentation or Flash either for that matter, but as I’m interested in working with the chapter/marker area in Premiere – should I really be told to go off and search the documentation for another application, probably not!  What would have been useful would have been a code snippet saying you do it like this, but of course, that would make things too easy!
Basically, I understand that in After FX you can add Flash marker information specifically for interpretation when exporting to Flash Video (i.e. name, type and parameters etc) and it suggests that you can do the same above in Premiere CS3 using some kind of concatenated string in the chapter area…it just doesn’t tell you how anywhere seemingly – WHY ADOBE!
Currently when I export markers as cue points based on the advice in the page above, anything I put in the chapter section to force Premiere to create a cue point is converted to a string, which becomes the cue point ‘name’.
This cue point name is then automatically appended to the ‘time’ the marker was inserted at and is always encoded as type ‘navigation’, with no obvious means of adding ‘parameters’ into the equation.
So (finally) does anyone know if you can insert this information into the chapter area for correct interpretation by flash (i.e. thus allowing you to choose between either 'navigation' or 'event' types, and pass as many 'parameters' as you wish etc) or are you just limited to supplying a name, and it being automatically set to the navigation type with no parameters?
I’m sorry for this long essay but at least the issue is well defined for you to answer, honestly any help you can provide what so ever would really be most appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Kat
PS – I have utterly no knowledge of XML either just in case you were wondering – and my only interest in XML is getting this basic information encoded into the FLV file from Premiere Pro CS3! Please help, pretty please with daisy’s!!!

    Hi dradeke,
Thanks for your reply, which is indeed useful as clearly Adobe have made this task easier and less obscure in CS4 by adding simple interface functionality, however I'm stuck with using CS3 for the moment.  Its not majorly a problem as the video material in question can be exported uncompressed then setup with cue points using the Flash encoder as an alternative (i.e. or even After FX CS3 also) which both provide the same features as Premiere CS4 seemingly. It is just that it would be much easier to be able to drop in simple markers whilst working with Premiere CS3, as this is what we are going to be using primarily, I just wondered if anyone knew how to invoke this in CS3 - its possible you can't, the documentation is vague at best!
However I really appreciate your response and help, thanks

  • My 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

My 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV 1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. However, when I open the project on my other Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and FCP 6, the footage works fine as it does on my newer Imac running Mavericks and FCP 7. I have tried a Quicktime update on the Mac Pro that the footage doesn't work on but it says that I already have the newest version of Quicktime installed. I have also tried reinstalling the Final Cut Pro Studio twice, still no fix. I'm completely out of solutions and need to be able to edit HDV footage on this machine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

How do i drag media to the menu screens in premiere elements 13? I can't see my audio files and the menu screens at the same time. In prior versions it was easy?
It is very cumbersome to "re browse" for audio files/pics/movie clips to add to menu screens. Certainly there is a way to view the media and menu screen at the same time so I can drag and drop?

    Jayhawk
I think I know exactly what you are seeking and believe it cannot be done in Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 as it can be done in versions earlier than 11 where the Disc Layout and Project Media are viewed side by side.
Premiere Elements 13 uses a Movie Menu customization workspace which is not allowing viewing of Project Assets in the Expert workspace at the same time.

  • How to find out the Sequence settings of a created sequence?

I have had a problem come up a few times where I am switching back and forth from one format to another, I frequently work on multiple edits, and my sound goes out of sync. This is usually because the sequence is set wrong (from when I switch and forget to change it back) and when exported it compresses the audio wrong. How do you find out what the settings are for a sequence you are working on when it's open in the FCP timeline? I'm looking for a quick way to rule out the sequence as part of the audio sync problem.
    Thanks,
    -Bluecast

Or Command-0. What about Easy Setups? I use them routinely so that I don't have to think about setups. Once the setup is saved and properly used, all the settings for sequences and hardware are easily made for you.

  • How can i write to the Step.Result.ReportText of a Sequence callback?

i need to write to the Step.Result.ReportText and step.Result.Status of a sequence callback using a statement but it jus won't work...how can i do this?....

I am not sure what you are asking but will give it a shot.
Only a step has Step.Result.ReportText and Step.Result.Status properties. Therefore you cannot set these properties for a sequence callback. For certain callbacks that are called by a sequence call step, you can set Step.Result.ReportText and Step.Result.Status of the Sequence Call step that called the callback. To do this you can set Runstate.Caller.Step.Result.ReportText and Runstate.Caller.Step.Result.Status within the callback.
If this does not help you then you must provide information as to which callback you are using and for what step you want to set the Step.Result.ReportText and Step.Result.Status properties

We want managing your media to be easy! It saddens me to hear that this is not occuring. Do you receive a specific error message when the browser times out? Have you tried using a different browser?
