CS3 -- I can't find the Eraser Tool

I am new to CS3, but I'm not a total greenie in photo editing after working with Jasc & Corel over the past few years. This one is starting to make me feel stupid. Maybe I'm having a brain cramp. I see the Background Eraser Tool, but after searching high and low, I can't find the Eraser Tool. Where is the little bugger hiding???

Click and hold (or ALT+Click) on ALL the icons in the Toolbox that show a little tiny triangle on their buttons. LOTs of grouped (some call them "hidden". I don't...) tools.
Anywhere you see just about ANY little icon, button, arrow or tiny triangle, try clicking and/or ALT+Clicking on them to see what secrets they hold.
Also, have a look at EVERY Menu item, and give them a try. Just don't "Save" and close your image and you will always be able to go back to your original unedited state by clicking the image at the very top of your History Palette.
Don't forget to give the Help files a thorough scan while you're exploring, too.

The obvious or not so obvious first. Depending on your knowledge. When you open a tiff, jpg, or camera' raw format they can be opened in Adobe Camera raw first which has identicle controls to lightroom's develop module.
Starting with I beleive CS5 maybe 4, some of the tools made their way into photoshop it self. Take a look at the camera lens filter, the Image>Adjustment menu or the adjustment layers which now support vibrance for example.

Im new to the photoshop program. Im having trouble locating the background erase tool. When the drop menu opens on the erase button, the only options are eraser tool, scissor tool, knife. Where can I find the background eraser tool?

Hi Travo, it sounds like you are not in Photoshop, but Illustrator!

However, I imagine you are seeing this instead:
Illustrator doesn't have the Background Eraser Tool because it is not a photo-editing program, it edits vector artwork. Can you try to see if you have photoshop installed? This is what the icon of the program looks like:

I can't find the line tool. Where is it?

Can't use the erase tool inside a Layer Mask

Recently after updating Photoshop CC I noticed that I can no longer use the erase tool inside of a Layer Mask to add or remove areas from/to the mask. The paint brush tool still works inside the mask but the erase tool does not. Any ideas why?

Make sure your foreground/background colors are set to BW. And, make sure your foreground color is set to the same color you want to erase from the Layer Mask: Black if you want to erase (turn white) the black part of the mask, White if you want to erase (turn black) the white part of the mask.

I am trying to use Acrobat Pro version XI to crop my PDF but can't find the "PAGES" tools

I have a 1 page PDF that is 9.5 inches wide with about 1.5 inches of margin. I want to crop off the extra white space and center the image so that it fits on a normal letter sized page. However, I can't find any sort of crop or trim command in Acrobat. When I google cropping a PDF I find references to a crop command that is in some sort of "pages" collection of tools but I don't have any pages menu either. Is there a way to use Acrobat Pro for cropping ? How?
I also have photoshop and have tried importing and cropping there but when I export the image back to PDF format I find that its 10X the size it started. Its important for my purposes that the file be small.

Well it was installed yesterday and I spent hours trying to find the option as virtually the first thing I did when I launched it, so I'm quite sure I would have remembered if I changed it. However it was installed by a push from our corporate software distribution system so maybe that has a way of reconfiguring some options. Why they'd bother is a mystery to me though. I can't find the 3d tool under the windows tab in Photoshop. I thought I used it before but I cannot find it now?

There are two flavors of perpetual CS6 Standard and Extended. Only Extended flavor has 3D enabled if you have the required GPU and at lease 512MB of VRAM and that it enabled in your Photoshop preferences Performance page

How can I find the warp tool in Elements 11?

I have used Elements 9 using the warp tool but I have up-graded to Elements 11 and cannot locate it.

You will find warp tool in Liquify filter. Open your image and go to "Filter menu>Distort>Liquify".

I use PSE 9 and i just recently encountered a problem trying to crop a photo. I can't find the crop tool. What am I doing wrong?

I have been using PSE for quite a while but I am not a power user. I often use the crop tool to trim unwanted elements and set the size for the paper I want to use. When I opened a photo to edit yesterday the crop tool was not there. There is a tool named recompose but if I click it I cannot make any adjustments. I do not know if other functions are affected and I have no idea how to check them. I have no idea what caused this problem and would appreciate any assistance in resolving the problem.

Which operating system are you using?
The Crop Tool shares the same tool slot in the toolbox with the Recompose Tool.
You should be able to Left click and hold on the toolbox icons to see the fly-out menus for the tools that share the same slots.
Tools in the toolbox that have other tools in the same slot have a little black arrow to the right of the tool icons.
One can also use Shift+C to switch between the Crop and Recompose Tools.

Where can I find the ODI tools OdiFtpGet and OdiFtpPut?

They are described in the tools documentation, but I only see ODIInvokeWebService,ODIReadMail,ODIReadMail under the Internet tools options. The version of ODI I am using is 10.1.3.4.0.

How can I find the horizontal tool bar so I can log off?

If you are referring to the menu bar, by default on Firefox 4 it is hidden and replaced by the Firefox button. If you want the old style menu bar, right-click on a toolbar then click on "Menu Bar" to permanently display it. Alternatively pressing Alt or F110 will temporarily display the menu bar, you can in the View menu select toolbars, and then Menu Bar.
