[CS3] I have never been able to get this right: Batch/Droplet and output file naming??????

Hi,
The situation:
I need to convert a folder of PDF's to PNG format.
My process:
I create an action by recording my "actions" based on one of the said PDF's.
Problem:
When batching and/or processing via a droplet (created from action I created from above), the output file name is ALWAYS the EXACT name of the file I used when I created my action!!! Why? I have tried everything... Why is it so hard for Photoshop to batch a file and use the file name of the current file being batched (and not the name of the original file that the action was created from)???
Please help!
I feel like such a dunce... I am sure the answer is staring me right in the face.

Sorry for my delayed reply.
I never touched the file name for the save as dialog box.
I have use PS for many years, and I have never been able to get the file name to stay the same as the file being processed. :(
My boss even, he is a beta tester of future versions of Adobe products, and he could not get it to work...
It only worked for me/us when appending a digit to the end of the file name. Not an optimal solution, but it works. ;)

Have never been able to get a printer to work on my MBP!!!

Ok, I've had this laptop since LAST MAY and have never, ever gotten a stinkin' printer to work from it. Right now I have to print everything to PDF and put it on my PC to print.
I've got a Fiery X3e 31-CM PS v.2 IP printer and cannot get it to work from my Mac - and there are drivers listed. The print queue just says "Opening Printer Connection" and sits there. At the same time I can print from any other PC in the house.
I also have a HP OfficeJet R60 on the network and a direct-connect HP Photosmart 1215 - neither of which will work from my MBP, only a PC. What is the point of having networked/direct connect printers if I CANNOT PRINT!!!???
Any help would be appreciated.

We need more details - what exact protocol choice(s) and IP addresses and queue names have you entered? How is the R60 connected? Were there preinstalled drivers or did you install drivers? If you installed drivers, were they Universal (for both powerPC and Intel Mac - just for intel is OK, too)?
For the Fiery, I see that it supports the IPP and LPD protocols. Your symptoms sound like you have entered the printer's IP address, but not the device's queue name. Look for that in the Fiery manual. If you can't find it there, you can usually find it on a PC in printer properties for the printer setup.

Have never been able to get ichat to connect to msn

have tried all the tutorials out there, but every msn transport i have tried just says registration succeeded and then never returns my contacts.. not sure if it is because i am using a messengeruser.com account, or what. adium works great but would love to be able to use ichat.

Okay so it sounds like the issue is with the jabber server. I have never fully done this, as I swear off MSN, but I am quite familiar with the jabber process.
Have you tried logging into the jabber account in iChat? Do the yahoo accounts show up and not MSN? Perhaps the jabber server will not display all the msn contacts, but it will display them in iChat.
EDIT: Darrin, also I believe you can add any other Jabber service's accounts to any other Jabber account. Some info here... (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060918092954170). I know the gtalk is super easy to set up in iChat, maybe you want to try that and add your msn contacts to that. Though I suppose that is a pain to re-add people...

I have a mid 2011 iMac with 2 thunderbolt ports that I have never been able to get to work.

I purchased two Segate adapters and drives but if I can get them to run at all they will eventually freeze up the computer and I will have to reboot. I just tried them again today and the computer does not even see them. Has anyone else had this problem and did you get it resolved. I took it to the Apple store once and as you would know after a system reset it worked I took it home and within an houre it froze up the system and I have not gotten it to work since.

Take it back to the Apple Store and leave it there so that they can check it out for a couple of days at least with the disks.

Did you purchase the Mac used? If so, the person should have erased the drive and reinstalled the original system and should have given you the install disks.

I have Photoshop Elements 12 that was purchased for my Windows 8 system in July of 2014. I have never been able to get the organizer to work. I need help getting this portion of the program to work. I would like to talk with an Adobe tech.

How is it that I can download and use Photoshop Elements 12 program editor and not have access to the organizer???

The two applications (organizer & editor) can work independently and only talk to each other when they need to.
Are you updating from a previous version or is this the first?
There are (at least) three ways of starting the organizer:-
1) from the Welcome screen
2) from the editor - see button at the bottom of the editor window
3) directly using windows explorer to locate and double click on the following
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
[ignore the (x86) part if on 32bit system]
Can you get any of those ways to work? Do you get any error message or does nothing happen?
You could try creating a new catalog to see if that helps.
Start the organizer (in any of the ways) with the Shift key held down while it loads (if it does). That should bring up the catalog manager
Click on the New button (top right)
Give it a name like Dummy or Test and click on OK - that should create & open a blank catalog

Does it say it will convert into an exact copy of the PDF? If it does, marketing need to fix what they say. Just converting is miracle enough for me, knowing the difficulties.
If it isn't going to satisfy you, you need to contact Adobe for a refund. Use the CHAT link in support (be sure to make the right choices, or you don't get the link).

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>General>Date&Time and make sure it is set to Automatic

I have not been able to get my device running correctly, and altough I've read tons of things online, I still have no solution to my problem.
Here's the thing: after everything's plugged in and ON, I see the Apple logo briefly, then the TV displays a sign that says no signal, check pwoer cords and power source.
But everything is plugged in and connected properly, otherwise, I doubt I'd be seeing the apple logo, right?
I tried changing the HDMI cable, reversing the ends, switching ports, hard resetting the ATV, and trying a different TV. No luck.
I read there is some issue with Samsung TVs, and most LED and LCD tvs down here are Samsung.
On the other hand, I cannot return it or exchange it, since I bought it in the states.
Oh! One of the tvs I tried it on displays a little sign that reads "connected at 1280x720 @60hz", and only THEN, goes to the "no signal" sign.

Try this:
Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.

Sounds like some needed System Fonts wre replaced by bad ones. Y also have Font Book in Applications for validating fonts & checking for duplicates.
Required Fonts from 10.3, much the same in 10.4...

then intall the Fonts what you need from your Install Disk.
Or do a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Cannot and have never been able to connect to a testing server

I am using Dreamweaver and am trying to set up a testing site using IIS. I can’t get it set up. It says I don’t have administrative privileges. I am the administrator. This is a home computer and I am the only user of the computer. I am just a novice.
I posted my problem in an Adobe forum. I was told to enter a command in the administrator command because I am not an administrator (this made me scratch my head???). The following is what I was told to enter:
icacls %systemdrive%\inetpub /grant %userdomain%\%username%:(OI)(CI)(F) /grant %userdomain%\%username%:F
it does not work and says there is no command for” icasis” I am not sure what I need to enter, however. For system drive I put “C”. For user name I put the name of my computer. For user name I put my user name.
This is what I ended up with and this is what I put in the administrators command prompt:
icacls %C%\inetpub /grant %Joe-II%\%jtb%:(OI)(CI)(F) /grant %Joe-II%\%jtb%:F
I am sure this is wrong.
In addition, in properties of inetpub wwwroot it says I have read and write for both administrator and iis_iusrs privilages (I set it up following a DW tutorial).
So why can’t I set up testing server on iis? This problem has gone on for years. I have newer versions of Adobe and operating systems and I have never been able to set up a testing server. By the way, this is windows 8 professional.
Any help would be much appreciated. I would even pay someone to solve my problem but don’t know where I would go to do this.

I sympathize, as I had a lot of trouble trying to set up a localhost server on a Win8 computer. Experienced many false starts. Finally got it working to the extent I could actually work on a WP site locally, but the set up is still weird in that when I uploaded all the new files to make them live, nothing updated. Ended up making all the changes again to the live site.

You can't connect an iPhone or iPad to a Mac via Bluetooth, except for Internet tethering.
You're not doing anything wrong - it just isn't a feature of iOS devices.
What were you hoping a Bluetooth connection would allow you to do?
