Cs3 Illustrator filters and effects read ERROR

Hi,
I recently had my logic drive replaced on my MacBook Pro. Now my Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for CS3 give me an error every time I try using certain filters or effects. The error reads "The end of data was reached while from reading from a container." What is a solution?
I have tried updates, patches, and removing the twain plug-in from my drive. Nothing seems to work. I am running on Mac OSX 10.4.11.
I have also erased and reinstalled the programs with the installation disc.

CS6 can be purchased at Adobe, or second hand, see below.

i recently installed and uninstalled and installed photoshop elements 6 for Mac because when I click the items in the pallate for filters and effects it says I have none. Where didi they go and how do I get them back?

SDD install and disk read error message

I recently bought an HP Envy 17T 3200 Notebook. I wanted to upgrade the primary drive to an SSD. I bought a Sandisk Extreme brand new. I installed this in the primary bay. I used the recovery disks to restore the computer as I have done in the past with other HP laptops I've owned.
It went through all five disks and seemed to recover fine. When the fifth disk was finished, I rebooted the computer after removing the disk and received an error message:
"A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
Thinking I had a bad drive, I bought an Intel 520 Series SSD. I replaced the Sandisk with the new Intel drive. I repeated the process above. I installed everything and actually booted into Windows for the first time. I shut the computer down temporarily. A few moments later, I rebooted and again had:
"A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
The odds of TWO SEPARATE SSDs being bad are remote. Something else is going on here. I ran diagnostics on the disks and they both passed with flying colors. For now, I have the original disk back in the primary bay and the computer is running fine.
Has this happened to anyone? Do I have corrupt recovery disk files? What can I do?

I'm writing this response although its an old post, since a quick search on google told me that alot of people have similar issues to this.
I will post my solution to the problem, hoping that it will help people who have this issue.
Description of problem; Just as OP, i was upgrading my primary harddisk on my Envy 17 to an SSD, and when i put the disk in it would not accept it, stating "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart".
As the SATA cable was functioning fine with the old Harddisk, i ruled that out.
Next thing i tested was wether the system would accept the harddisk if i pre-installed windows on it, before connecting it, this did not resolve the problem either.
I also reset the BIOS, did nothing.
Fustrated over this problem i acted on a hunch and disassembled the whole computer, cleaned it thoroughly and replaced the thermal paste on the heat sinks for the GPU and CPU. I also replaced the Fan on the cooling system (a simple cleaning may do the trick as well) Turned on the laptop with my new SSD in and voila, it accepted the disk and proceeded to start up windows.
I have never encountered a computer that simply wouldnt read a disk due to overheating issues, But it fixed my problem, so i'm a happy camper
Note that disassembling a laptop is an advanced job, if you are not comfortable doing it by yourself you should not attempt to do so.
By the way. This may or may not fix the issue for you, as far as i can tell this error can be the symptom of alot of issues, but if you suspect that your laptop may be overheating, this might be the solution.

Spent all afternoon downloading Java plugiins and Adobe reader; each with the following "failure message."

This is going to sound lame, but... have you shut down and restarted Windows since this problem began? Sometimes the Windows Installer starts behaving erratically, perhaps due to a backlog of deferred updates, and the only way to get around it is to reboot.

IMAP and Server Reading Error

My three IMAP email accounts appear to be working fine (i.e. I can send and receive email from two of the three, the third I can send but not receive - this one is greyed out) but next to their names in the Mailboxes section of Mail, there is a warning triangle which reveals the following error message
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “[email protected]” or try again.
The server error encountered was: The attempt to read data from the server “mail.jarethouse.co.uk” failed.
My web host has reset the IMAP server and he says all appears to be working fine.
Any clues?

I have two POP accounts and two IMAP accounts. I could not connect using the IMAP accounts until I tried to send an email using one of the IMAP accounts, then it asked for passwords (that I had already entered) and then Mail presented me with the usual security certificate messages (as I am using SSL for the IMAP accounts).
I couldn't even set a new IMAP account using a new user. All is well now, looks like it may have had something to do with the security certificates, even though I tried to use non SSL.

HT1807 I travelled to a different country & using a new sim; with the change in sim, I have been unable to use iMessage & FaceTime. Cant replace replace the earlier no with the current one and it reads error. how to correct this?

I traveled to a different country and using a new sim/new carrier. With the change in the sim, I have been unable to use the iMessage--outside of WiFi coverage area, and FaceTime at all time. I believe it is due to the phone number registered as an address in the phone, which has not changed with the change of sim; so it countinues to showing as an error while varifying the data.
Wonder if any of you are in a position to advise as to how to address the following.
1. I need to input correct phone no, meaning the number I am using in the correct location.
2. I need to activate FaceTime and be able to use it.
3. I need to be able to use iMessage and/or ordinary sms while outside of WiFi coverage area.
It may be mentioned in my current location I don't have GPRS on the cell phone which is the case in my regular station.

Why the Finder doesn't make diefference between CS3 illustrator .eps and CS3 Photoshop .eps when I double click on a file?

The finder used to make difference between Illustrator ans Photoshop .eps files except sometomes when these files came from a Windows PC, but now it doesn't work anymore and all .eps files are considereds as Photoshop .eps files.
How can I revert to original default settings?

Prior to Snow Leopard, Mac OS actually remembered what app created a file, and used that app when you double-clicked a file. Now, Snow Leopard goes entirely by the suffix, modified by any particular settings you have made for that file in Get Info.
If you want to recreate the old behavior, there is a third-party package called LaunchCodes that claims to do this.

Illustrator to after effects layers

If I have a layer in illustrator with multiple sub layers and groups etc with lots of effects and symbols etc and I then import to after effects as a single layer does after effects still have to render all that information or does it just see it as a single flat image? Someone told me that if I dont rasterise it first that after effects will still have to read all that information constantly and so it will use a lot of processing power. Im not sure if this is correct though?

If you're seeing everything in your drawing, seeing all of the layers, then so is AE. It renders them all. It uses all of the vector shapes as vectors except for those layers that have raster effects applied. A raster effect is any effect applied in illustrator that uses the document raster settings to make it's calculations. These layers are not continuously rasterized even when the CR switch is on.
Unless I specifically do not want to do any layer manipulation of the individual layers I always use the release the layers tool to give me individual layers for each shape. Some of these shapes may be re-grouped. Some may not. Then I import the .ai file as a composition retaining layer sizes. This allows me to do all of the manipulation that I need in AE.
Also, if I am given an .ai file that has a bunch of raster effects applied I try and remove those in a duplicate copy and then use the original as a reference to rebuild the file in AE. I actually have to do this fairly often with logos designed by a print person.
I hope this helps. Generally .ai files render very quickly unless the number of line or triangle segments go way way up. Unless you are experiencing render problems I would not worry about the groups and effects.

LPX Filter and Effect Questions..

Hi all - still somewhat new to LPX (10.0.6).
With regards to filters and effects, there's two things I can't figure out how to do:
(1) Apply an effect gradually, overtime. An example would be the EQ changing throughout a few bars.
(2) Set a start point for filters that automatically reset after a specific number of bars. I'm using the Always Rising Filter preset for the basic Auto Filter and have it set to 8 bars. The problem is I can't tell it which bar to start with. It starts at measure 5 and goes to measure 12, I want it to start at 1 and go to 8. How can I change this?
I know these are kind of amateur questions, I've googled and can't seem to find an answer. Thanks!

You could try automation. With a slowly changing eq for example...
Say you've got an eq over a Ultrabeat pattern you've programmed in the tracks window and you want to do a slow eq change. Have a look under the Ultrabeat instrument in its channel strip. See the thing that says "READ" in a green box? Change it to "latch".
Now, open your eq plugin and hit the spacebar to start your UB pattern playing. As it plays, move the parameter you want to change in the eq window. Hit stop. Change automation mode back to "Read". A little yellow icon should come on in the Inspector area of the Tracks window next to your Ultrabeat instrument. That's showing that the automation is turned on.
Now, magnify your view in the vertical plane (tool for this in the top left hand corner of your tracks window) until you can see the automation stuff appear below the representation of the midi notes in your Ultrabeat pattern. There should be a pull-down there that will show what you've just put in with automation. You now use that info to edit what you want the eq to do.
That was a bit long-winded, I know...but you only have to learn the procedure of putting in automation once because it works pretty much identically for any automation function within LPX.

It's either the logic
board (motherboard), or the
hard drive. Proper replacement of the logic board should not change anything. If it was your drive that was changed, and the content of the old drive was merely copied over, then you may have copied over data that was corrupted by your older drive.
First, I would reset preferences. If that doesn't work, try logging in as a new user.
I suspect though, that you may have to back up your files, deactivate your Adobe software and reformat the new drive (HFS+ journaled). And then reinstall the software from scratch from the original media and reactivating.

Can't install CS6 apps- photoshop, illustrator, indesign, after effects, flash and dreamweaver.

OSX 10.8.4

intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
10 Gb 1333 mhz ddr3 ram
500gb hdd/326 gb free
I had CS6 master collection installed on my computer up until today. I removed it because Illustrator was having a strange issue where points would snap to random nothing and, align wouldn't work and changing the stroke of an object would cause it to move down and to the left each time the stroke changed.
Illustrator issues aside, since uninstalling I can't get it to reinstall! It gives the following error:

So far this is what I have done:
uninstall everything, run the cleaner tool, reinstall- same error
uninstall, restart, run cleaner tool , restart, reinstall- same error
run cleaner tool, restart, resintall - same error
in checking the error codes individually it looked as though I might have file system errors
I rebooted with command+r and launched disk utilities from there (mac safe mode I guess?)
verified mac hdd: verified OK
ran repair anyway- verified OK again
checked and, if possible, repaired each other volume- all OK
rebooted, reinstalled, same error
I am going to address the first error now- that the display requirements were not met, and remove my external diplay from my macbook and reinstall.
Any help you might have though, I would be very grateful.

oh, also, i've re-downloaded the installer and also gotten a third installer from a friend.

Missing "illustrations" tab and read-only information

After a Windows XP Home repair, no illustration tab and read-only information by new music downloads. Have most recent itunes. Can someone help me...please?

Thanks Gilad, In that case, is there then a way (via a script) that if I leave field 2 as not readonly, so the cursor moves into this field on tab out of field one, that I can reject any input from the user, if field one does not contain any data ? I thought this might be a solution. I have the script with the If Else statement, that sets the value of field 2 to "", if the value of field 1 is also "", but what is the else statement required to accept the value, if the content of field 1 is not "" ?.
The script preoduces an error, if field 1 is blank, and I try to enter data into field 2 and then tab out of field.
