CS3 Illustrator & Photoshop won't scale proportionately using parallels

I have an Imac and am using Parallels 4.0 to access Windows XP on it. I have CS3 Master Collection loaded on Windows. The problem I have is with the proportional resizing with this software.
The issue occurs when I'm using Photoshop and the transform tool and scaling an image/object holding shift on the keyboard and using a mouse, usually this would retain the object proportions whilst scaling but it doesn't. Similarly, when I use Illustrator and try to resize an object using the selection tool and holding shift it doesn't retain the proportions either. That's just happening when I'm using CS3 via parallels and Windows. With the Mac running CS3 it doesn't happen nor does it happen when I boot straight into Windows without running Parallels. If I hold now the Caps lock key with shift it works but it's not a great fix as then when I go to type Caps lock is on etc.
I've seen this issue on forums but usually the fix is to do with Quicken or Entourage, here's an example but not a solution for me unfortunately: http://www.layersmagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1206
I'm not running Entourage or Quicken or any of the other software that seems to cause this issue.
I'm wondering if there is a conflict with the Mac/Windows and Parallels or something.

If your using the Application Frame in photoshop, does clicking on the Green Maximize button fit the the photoshop application to your macbook pro screen?

Can you run a windows only Photoshop plugin on a Mac using Parallels? In particular a .8BF plugin like PTFilters.8BF or Super Cubic.
If you also have a Photoshop version of the Photoshop application, the answer is of course YES.
Otherwise, the answer is no,
If you have the CC subscription, then of course you can install a Photoshop Windows version and run your plug-in. That'll be separate from your Photoshop Mac install.. -
CS3 Bridge & Photoshop freezing after an hours use.
G5/2.0ghz/dual/3gigRAM/OSX58: When I use CS3 Photoshop and CS3 Bridge at the same time, after about an hours use, Photoshop will freeze with the spinning beachball when I double click one image in Bridge to open it up in Photoshop. Anyone know of any similiar experiences? Lord, I do not want to go through the CS3 reinstallation if I do not have to. Talk about a mindless waste of time. jr
First thing to try when in trouble is refreshing the preferences. Restart
Bridge holding down option key and choose refresh preferences. Set them
again to your wishes and try again.
Also check your free space on your system, less then 10 % free space is
often causing trouble. -
Illustrator CC won't scale with "transform again"
Coming from CS6, this is a feature I used all the time. However when I scale an object in CC and use transform again (Ctrl + D) to repeat the transformation on another object, it ignores the scaling and just repeats the most recent translation ie. it just moves the object rather than resizing it.
I don't even know where to start to fix this, any ideas?pigeonbreath,
Unless it has changed (you may have a look at the Object>Transform first option), it may be time for the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Photoshop won't let me "Use Graphics Processor"
Photoshop CS6 says it has detected an error in the graphice driver, but I can't find any errors. I have reinstalled several versions of the display driver--no change. The graphics card is NVIDIA GTX 550Ti.

Illustrator CS5 won't open after using trial version of CC
I tried the CC version of Illustrator and once it expired, I am now unable to open any of my files from my previous CS5 version . Message
I get is --quote: This is an Adobe Illustrator file that was saved without pdf content. To place or open this file in another application,
it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF compatible file" option turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native
Format options dialog box which appears when saving an Illustrator file using the Save As command---end quote.
I am not trying to open the files in another application. I'm trying to open them in Illustrator CS5. Since I'm unable to re-save the files,
I can't turn on the Create PDF compatible file option. None of my files will open.
Can someone help?The Illustrator file format is not downwards compatible.
You would have needed to save the files to the CS5 version. -
Updating to Mavericks issues with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver
Since updating to Mavericks I am having problems with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver opening files on Parallels VM and network servers. Will updating Java to 7 help? Everything worked before upgrade. Photoshop say files are empty, in Dreamweaver the document is blank and Illustrator crashes. If I open the files off my local machine everything works fine.

Currently using Photoshop CS5, but with a replacement computer and upgrade to Yosemite, keep being told I need to install the legacy Java 6. Currently, Photoshop won't even open. I absolutely do not want to subscribe, don't want to mess with the cloud, just want to buy an upgrade to something that will run for a while longer. I don't care about Lightroom, Bridge, Illustrator, etc.; most of those I've deleted over the years. But I do use Photoshop - or would if it would still run. What options do I have?

It's also possible you may have to reinstall photoshop cs5 even after installing the above java, because sometimes the upgrade to mac os x 10.10 messes up the photoshop cs5 installation.

Photoshop CS3 installs but won't run on new OS install
Hello,
I've been searching through the forums and have seen some users with a similar problem, but haven't found any info that's relevant to my situation.
I have done a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2 and decided to install a brand-new copy of CS3 at the same time.
This computer is totally fresh - there are no printers, no TWAIN drivers, no funny fonts or games installed. The only software on this machine is Windows and whatever updates Windows Update has pushed out.
The Photoshop installer runs fine - no crashes or error messages. However, when I try to start up Photoshop, I just get the outer frame of the app window and (usually) the File / Edit / Image / Layer... menu bar. There is no splash screen, and no palettes appear. If I click anywhere in the app window, the menu bar disappears and the title bar says "Not responding".
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from both the DVD and the web download. I've tried selecting the "repair" option on the install screen. I've tried downloading and installing the 10.0.1 update.
I tried installing Lightroom and Reader to see if those work (they do).
I tried installing the latest video driver for my gfx card.
None of these change the behaviour I've been seeing at all. I opened a support case with Adobe about 4 days ago but haven't gotten a response yet.
Any thoughts? I was able to run PS CS1 on this computer just fine before I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled everything, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Ive got the same problems as you, Win XP SP2 on RAID 1 hard disk set on an AMD raid controller, but I have no driver to roll-back to.
Ive installed Photoshop CS3 and also Acrobat Standard 8 (which used to run fine on an old system), but all i get now is the blank window with the menu and title bar and thats all.
Can some one help? (will this licensing patch resolve the issue - and where can i get it from?)

Not sure if anyone can help but I have a copy of Photoshop CS5.1. Ever since it was installed, every now and again when I try do something simple like save a file or scale something using the Transform tool, in fact anything at all it comes up with "Could not complete your request because of a program error". Have thought about re-installing it but I have lost my serial number. I'm living in Ireland and trying to get to talk to someone in tech support is a complete joke. Any ideas what to do ? Thanks

is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2 and cant believe what a waste of money it is.
The newest version of CS2 is CS5. And it was made very clear that these applications would not run in Lion. Not only by Apple, but on all sorts of communities and websites. It has been a long time coming - PowerPC apps were outdated six years ago. Lion does not support Rosetta, and therefore not PPC apps.
you have to options. Go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade your software. (MS Office 2004 and older will not run either).

Error "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Creative Suite -
I use photoshop CS3. Shortly, when I try to use one of the tools, they react only with the eraser. So I cannot use the other tools. I tried to reset in general preferences all warnings. Then I can use the tools again, but with the next picture I get stuck with the eraser again. What can I do? Joost van Santen

Using CS3 illustrator with OS X 10.10.1
I am running OS X 10.10.1 and my CS3 Illustrator is not working properly. I have uninstalled just the Illustrator segment. I have used MacKeeper to clean up any leftovers, and done a clean reinstall. Now all the app will do is start up, but not fully. It is only acting as a reader, and must be closed as it freezes. I really don't want to do a complete wipe of the CS 3 program and reinstall from scratch, but I may have to. Any suggestions?
First of all, MacKeeper is total, utter "garbageware"/malware that may have damaged your entire OS X system.
DO NOT USE ANY SO CALLED APPS CLAIMING TO "CLEAN", "OPTIMIZE" OR "SPEED UP" YOUR MAC!!!! EVER!!!!

Apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac, SpeedUpMyMac, MacCleanse or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary OR needed. They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac. Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
These types of system 'cleaning" apps are very poorly written and are really a scam to rob newbie and novice Mac users of their hard earned cash for a poorly written maintenance program that will do much more harm to a perfectly normal running OS X system than the good that the app developers purport these types of apps will do.
Plus, the software companies that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never, EVER download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and important data is too great a risk!
You really need to do completely uninstall/delete all of the CS3 suite and reinstall it. I had to do this each and everytime I upgraded my system OS to a brand new version.
If this still doesn't work, then MacKeeper may have already done its damage and in that case, you need to backup either all of your important data or your entire system and you need to erase and reformat your hard drive and completely reinstall your OS X, applications and restore your data.
