CS3 Imports Wrong PS Layer???

I just upgraded to CS3 Master Suite. For some reason, when I try to import a single layer from a PSD project, AE consistently imports the wrong layer...
As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating? As usual, i'm trying to finish a huge project last minute of course....

Yepp, as David said, make sure to update. This is a known issue and has been fixed in 8.0.2 (among other Photoshop file issues).

  • Package assigned to wrong transport layer

I've changed transport routes in my system from 2 to 3 systems landscape.
unfortunately somehow a package(development class) was assinged to the wrong transport layer & as a result when users release their request its taken to  Local Change Request i.e. dosen't appear in the import queue of the QA system
using SE80 I assinged the package to the correct transport layer & was prompted for a change request . The request goes to the local change request queue when I try to release I get the message Not All Objects In The Request Could Be Locked
    Kindly assist

    Hi,
After you made changes to your TMS make sure you have updated and distrubuted the configuration.
First release the request with previous package and You create another package with the transport layer.

  • How to import a text layer on multi-page document?

    Hi All,
I have a slight problem and was wondering if there is a quicker solution?
    I'm working with acrobatproX
I have been sent two pdf's form different sources. The first document is a 4c layer and the second is a translated text layer and
I need to combine the two to check that the text is setup correctly and doesn't over run any images.
I understand that I could import each text layer to a single page of the 4c but as it is a 256 page book?
Is there a quicker solution than the one page at a time method?
    Many Thanks

In PSE, to draw an empty circle use the elliptical marquee tool and hold down shift while you drag to constrain it to a circle. That will give you an empty selection, then go to Edit>Stroke (outline) selection. A window appears where you can choose the width and color of the stroke.
However, I'm not understanding why you would want to create your business card in PSE rather than in Pages or equivalent. Is there a special reason for this?
EDIT As for the text file, it would be simpler just to retype it in PSE, since it can't be very much text. Remember that PSE doesn't do all the fancy things with text that Pages can, although it can do some things (like warping) that Pages can't.
You could activate the text tool and use copy/paste, but you'll lose most of the formatting.

  • Flash CS3 import Video playback appears half black

    Hello everybody,
I hope you could help me.
This problem occurs when a file becomes. wmv to .swf, using Adobe Flash CS3 import video feature. (Windows 7 Professional x64)
At the end is a video (codec On2's VP6.2) which appears a black band at the top half. I reinstalled the entire CS3 suite, but the problem persists.
Could you give me some advices for this?
    Thank you in advace.
    Regards.

Microsoft broke WMV decoding in a recent Microsoft update.

  • After Effects importing wrong Illustrator file

I'm making a 2D simply animated film for my final year university project, where I'm designing in Illustrator and animating in After Effects.
This has worked fine until recently, but I've stumbled upon a problem. I'm creating my assets in groups based on my storyboards, and importing them one by one as I progress through the animation. They are all in the same folder and named 'Assets 1.ai' and so on. I have reached the 4th one of these files, but when I try to import it with the settings 'Composition - Retain Layer Sizes', AE brings in 'Assets 1' rather than 'Assets 4'. I've even tried this with the 'Footage' setting, which is useless to me anyway, and it still brings in the wrong file.
I can get around this by dragging the file from Finder straight into AE, but this makes all the layer sizes the entire size of the comp which means that I can't transfer any previous keyframes onto my new layers (I'm using several similar animations and layers) as they are a completely different size.
For example, a subtle rotation on the old layers of the correct size is a much more noticeable one on the new layers.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

It might help if we know some more information. Exact version number of AE (down to the last decimal), for example. FAQ: What information should I provide when asking questions?
What happens if you try to import it into a brand new project? If it works, until an answer is found, just import it into a new project and then import that project into your existing project.
Also, on a big project like this, please tell me you're using the Increment and Save feature with some frequency.

  • CS3 Importing Problems

I used to have Photoshop Elements. When I wanted to scan something, I would choose Import, then my printer from the drop-down list. A menu would come up, which I believe was from Photoshop. I could choose the format, resolution and other elements.
In CS3 my printer does not show up when I choose Import. By reading the Photoshop help information, I tried the WIA support option. I think the wizard that shows up is from Hewlett Packard. It worked, but it's a bad option because there is no choice but to scan as a .bmp file, and there is no way to control the compression.
Why doesn't my printer show up as a scanning option, and how do I get better scanning options?

this statement is what's confusing me:
    >. It worked, but it's a bad option because there is no choice but to scan as a .bmp file, and there is no way to control the compression.
unless you're saving right out of your scanning sw (possible i guess) there is not file format applied until you save in photoshop. maybe i'm missing what you're saying.
I have an epson scanner and when i hit import it brings up (i select) epson's scanner util. from there i scan and the image goes right into photoshop, unsaved. so there's not "format" to it until i choose one when saving out of photoshop.
HAVE you tried reinstalling the hp scanning sw? that'd be my first try, before going out and buying 3rd party sw for scanning. might just be something scwewy, wabbit! :)

  • PSD files always imported as one layer QuickTime

Does anyone know how to work around the bug in DVD SP 4.2.1 that formats every imported PSD file to Quick Time format destroying the layer structure?
No matter if the file has layers or not, no matter if the file is saved in PSD, TIF, JEPG, etc the files appears as Quick Time one layer in DVD SP once imported.
The files generated in PSD (CS4 11.0.1) are 8-bit, RGB, multiple layer or flattend image, standard size, nothing strange.
Several months ago I did a similar work and had no problems.
    What's happening? Any idea?

Did you ever read my reply in post #5?
My suggestion would be to download a trial version of Photoshop, whatever runs on your machine, and use the Image Processor in Photoshop to batch convert all your files as TIFFs before the 30-day trial period is over.

  • Illustrator CS3 Import and Export File Format list?

    Hello,
Has anyone typed up an updated supported import and export file format list for CS3? I used to reference a support knowledgebase document, 1001741, (no longer on Adobe's site) that showed the majority of file formats and versions that Illustrator was able to import. I searched all over and couldn't find one, then called support and they confirmed they no longer had a list like that available--they had split the import options into separate lists--like what versions of Photoshop files, what versions of .eps files, .tiff files etc. Illustrator CS3 could open.
The reason I was looking because I wanted to see what version Corel file CS3 could open after I was not able to open a customer's v.12 .cdr file.
    Thanks,
    Rick H.

I am pretty sure that the last supported version of Corel that AI can open is version 10.

  • InDesign CS3 importing PDFs

I have a 30 page pdf file which i need to place into InDesign.
Is there a quick way of adding this or do I have to make a single pdf file for each page and place each page into InDesign

There are scripts that can do exactly that -- for previous versions of ID, there were a lot of scripts, all with their own options & quirks.
Per CS3, I think the easiest way is:
    * Select your PDF file with the Place dialog. Check "Show options" to ON (or keep the Shift key down while pressing "Open").
    * The first page of the PDF will appear in the Import options dialog. To the right of this, you can select which page you want to import. Default is "Current page"; you can also enter a range (in the form "3-5"), or choose "All pages". This last one is the one for you.
    * Be sure to set the Crop To option to what you want it to be. If you need to place full pages, simple choose "Media", so they are placed in their original size and position.
    * Press Okay. The cursor will change to a "Loaded" gun. Now all you have to do is click once per document page to place the next page from the PDF. Click rather near the top left of each page, if close enough ID will snap the image to the correct position. If the images should appear somewhere else on the page, draw guidelines on your Master Page and enable "Snap to Guides".
    * Repeat until you run out of pages.

  • InDesign cs3 javascript to duplicate layer

Greetings, I'm looking for an example javascript that duplicates an indesign cs3 layer, renames the new layer that gets duplicated and turns printing off on the original layer. Any help is appreciated. Wil

    Hi Wil,
    Try the following code:
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
var myLayer = "Sample"; //Add your layer name here
    var NewLayer = myDoc.layers.item(myLayer).duplicate();
    myDoc.layers.item(myLayer).visible = false;
    NewLayer.name = "SampleNew";
I think this will solve your problem.

  • Import psd with layer groups in AE CC - "Retain Layer Sizes" not working

Hi All,I created some shape layers in Photoshop and grouped them separately. Then imported this psd file into AE. I checked "Retain Layer Sizes" however all the layer-groups have the same size bounding box as document size instead of at the layer size. If I ungroup them in Photoshop and then import it, the "Retain Layer Sizes" just worked fine.
    Environment:
    Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    Photoshop CC 2014
    After Effects CC 2014
    in Photoshop:
    in After Effects:

    Thank you Rick!
Yes I noticed that. I wonder if it is possible that to make bounding box to extend to only the dimensions of the subsequent layers instead of document size? Now you can see that the anchor points are not located at right place. The reason I grouped layers in Photoshop is that I want to transform or animate one group at same time.
    Sorry for my poor English

  • Photoshop CS3-Importing photos

I am new and want to import several pictures to make a flyer, I import the picture into photoshop then when I try to add subsequent photos they replace the first photo in a new window, what am I doing wrong.

Do you mean that when the second picture is opened the first one disappears, or is it covered by the second?
Make sure you are not in Full Screen mode and "tile" the pictures from the Window menu to see them side by side.

  • CS3 Imports bad Characters from Word

Not the first time I've had to ask this...
I placed a Word Doc -  Remove Styles & Formatting, Retain Character Styles. Several characters have just completely fouled up. As near as I can tell, CS4 and CS2 do not experience the problem. I have highlighted three examples, but the story is chock full of the same problem.
I have identical results on 2 PC's, different OS's and one Mac, 10.4.n, ID patched to 5.0.4 on all stations. Can anybody shed some light on this?
or check how this file imports into CS3
    https://acrobat.com/#d=lA3hlJjfiPZnuSK*iWYhNg

OK, that cleared the bad glyphs swapping out, fixed it. The Word document opened as a Compatability Mode in 2007, it's properties are 2003-2007 document, Template being Normal.dotm (I've never looked, but is .dotm unusual?)
Is there a semi safe Workflow change I should know about; many Word files place correctly, but this is not the first time this has bit me; if these bad glyphs occur late in an article, I have missed it.

  • How to import transparent PS layer into FCE?

I'm going nuts here! I created a white design in Photoshop and have tried every option to export it as a a transparent file but when I import into FCE, a white background appears. I set the PS to transparent, add my design and all is well... except when I try and import into FCE. I want the layer to float on top of a clip in FCE like a title. Any thoughts?

TIFF, to no avail, and all the others as well. I create a new doc in PS > transparent > drag my layer in from another PS document and end up with a transparent background and one layer with my design on it > save it as a TIFF (or other). Then I import it into FCE and the image is there but with a white background and not transparent. On a couple of the save as settings the background comes thru black and not white. Thanks for helping with thissss.

  • JPEGs Created In Photoshop CS3 Import As Black Images

Is anyone else having problems bringing images from Adobe Photoshop CS3 into iPhoto? I am creating grayscale and color (RGB) images in Photoshop and then dragging them into my iPhoto library for import. Some come in just fine. Others have black thumbnails and when you open them to view them, they are like negatives.
    Any ideas?
    wncmacs

    David
iPhoto does not support greyscale and they will display "like negatives". Convert them to RGB and they will display fine.
