CS3 install on Vista issues. Not installing all apps, just MM stuff...

I'm having CS3 install errors/issues too with Vista.... I've uninstalled CS2 Creative Suite on my laptop to be able to update it to the standard I have in my shop (4 computers running their own license of ProdSuite:CS3 = $3996 of Adobe product) and my understanding is we can also install on second computer, which I want to do on my new laptop (Windows unfortunately Vista).
I uninstalled CS2, I've run the Adobe CScleanup app. And then go to install CS3 suite and it acts like it fully install until the end. I then get the 'Failed components' which happen to be all the Adobe stuff: InDesign, Illustrator, PScs3ext., Bridge. All the Macromedia stuff installed: Dreamweaver, Flash.
So, what's it take. When I call Tech support of course they want $40 to solve this. Which ticks me off because I've spent a fortune with this company and all I want to do is use it on my laptop so I can work with the files while out of the office.
Anyone know the trick to install (yes, I'm installing as Administrator and it's the only login) on Vista?

Yeah, I've done that search 'CS3 Vista install' and I've followed all of what I've found and yet still have issues.
I may just spend a weekend, format the laptop and reinstall Vista and all of my apps all over again. So far I'm not getting anywhere with the uninstall of CS2 and install of CS3. Getting too many errors and wasting too much time.
If I go from a fresh box I'll not install anything first until CS3 is fully installed. Then install all my other needed apps.
Any thoughts prior to me doing this (which is a ton of time)?

Apple offered a refund for users who purchased Logic Pro 9 30 days or less before the Logic Pro X launch, but they don't do it anymore, so if you want to upgrade to Logic Pro X, you have to purchase it in the Mac App Store
    Part of this is incorrect...
Some App Store employee's "accidentally" (but in good faith) issued refunds to a few users who had purchased Logic 9 within 30 days prior to the mid-July release of Logic-X. Word quickly came down from Apple HQ that this was against App Store policy and the practice was immediately stopped.
To the original poster.. you never stood a chance, even if they were issuing refunds you didn't fall within the 30 day period.  There were many who purchased Logic 9 a few days before the LX release who did not get a refund.

Ralph9430 offers a good suggestion.  But you may need to do this before taking his advice:
Check in iPhoto's Preferences (which you can open from the iPhoto menu).  Look in General, and make sure "Connecting Camera Opens" is set to "Image Capture").
If it is set to "iPhoto", you won't be able to get to Image Capture easily.

Mountain Lion will not download. App just says "download" on purchase button, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

My download took many many hours.  Not sure if that is because of our ISP or load on the network.  I also thought nothing was happening for my download.  Try this:
    Open App Store,
    click on Purchased
You'll see Mountain Lion being downloaded and it will show the progress and estimated time to complete.
Take deep breaths and be patient.

  • CS4 UPGRADE INSTALL DIRECTORY VISTA 64 NOT x86

    Hi all,
I would like to know if its safe that my CS4 Master Collection upgrade installation directory was in Program Files instead of the usual Program Files (x86)?  Everything is working fine, however CS3 Master Collection applications are still installed and working normally (isn't that strange?) and of course the plugins I had installed in CS3 are not available in CS4.  I don't mind that much that CS3 is still installed, I know it has happened to others, however it is a real drag that my plugins are not available.  Should I uninstall the upgrade and reinstall in the Progam Files (x86) directory instead?  Your comments would be much appreciated.
    Nikos

Thanks for your response Bob.  After a few hours (and an uninstall and reinstall on one computer) I realized that even though the directory location I was prompted to install to during installation was different than usual, the applications still wound up in the right place. All the 32 bit in the x86 folder, and Photoshop 64 verision in the regualr program files folder on my vista 64 platform.  I discovered this on one of the other computers that I installed on but did not proceed to the uninstall phase.  I still unfortunately had to re-install all my plugins and put them in the media core folder but for CS4.  This was such a big hassle especially with some of my plugin suites that install one by one.
I still haven't researched the subject of uninstalling CS3, which I will probably attempt next week.  Of course I am not going to try it until I have researched the subject in greater detail because I found some other users saying that uninstalling CS3 when you have used an upgrade option to CS4 is dependant on some CS3 files and after the uninstall of CS3 all was NOT working properly.  Thanks again for your input. At least for this week I am already editing and enjoying CS4.

  • Why does JMF 2.1.1e install on Vista and not on XP

I understand that JMF is not supported by Sun. Then why does it install on Vista with no issue but won't install on any of my XP (SP3) systems. All are P4 and above with one being a tablet PC. Each has proven capable of handling 4 live USB camera feeds simultaneously as well as running other things.
My problem is too often repeated in this forum.
On XP I start the install, the files are extracted, Setup.exe, wowexec.exe, and ntvdm.exe are started and that is all that happens. When I check the process list, they are all running (taking no CPU time). If I end the process tree starting with the distribution exe, they all end.
However, if I don't do that and just shutdown, I find that wowexec has to be forced to end and that leaves the 16bit subsystem unstable.
I have tried, no virus scan, running in W2K and. W95 compatibility, terminating everything in the process list I feel comfortable terminating and combinations of several and all of the above but to no avail.
Yet when I installed the exact same distribution package on my Vista systems, all went just fine.
I have even tried hand-installing JMF with little luck.
Oh yes, and I even tried the install and test on VMWare virtual machine Xp and Vista systems with the exact same results. So this is clearly systemic.
I should add that none of the systems are clones but each was individually installed and maintained with different applications installed.
To test, I move the same powered USB hub and 4 attached cameras between the systems. On Vista they are found just fine. On the XP systems, they don't exist as far as Java is concerned. Which is strange as 3 other , non-Java programs, see them without issue on all the systems.
You might ask, well why play with Java. The answer is simple. All of the programs I speak of are proprietary and I need a program I can modify to fit my needs and I have found a skeleton one to work with.
But unless I can get JMF installed on XP, that plan, JMF. and Java will be gone. I simply don't have time for this foollishness.
    Regards,
    Jim

Could you elaborate on using JWS to install JMF from Vista to XP?Unpack them on Vista. Then you have direct access to the Jars and natives that are used. Deploy those Jars and natives from a server using JWS - that should work for both Vista and XP.
If you go to the logical extremes and also expand the Linux/Unix version, and add the natives to the server/launch, it will also be able to support those systems. The download can be 'partitioned' so that Windows only gets the Windows natives, Linux/Unix gets the Linux/Unix natives. Mac boxes get the core Java JMF only - no natives.
Using JWS, you get to avoid that horrendous 'must reboot' prompt at the end of the native installer. The one time I tested it, I found that to be unnecessary. But there is no way to disable the prompt, AFAIK.
I have no experience with the facility you mention.Deploying using JWS is a big area. For a good overview, see [Deploying a Java Web Start Application|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/webstart/deploying.html].
Note that any app. that uses natives must be digitally signed and request all-permissions in the launch file, in order to work. For a self signed certificate, this is a little tricky to design in a build file, then easy to 'stamp out' at build time.
I have some demos, complete with source and build file, that do some of the things mentioned (most notably digitally signing apps.). If you have further questions on webstart, ask more specific questions & I might be able to help out.

  • Vista itunes not installed correctly.  Error 7.  Windows error 998.  Itunes helper not installed correctly.  Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Insufficient privileges.

OK, spent about 25 frustrating hours so far this weekend doing everything recommended on numerous threads here -- uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and all Apple items.  Help?
I am using Windows Vista home premium.  After the last iTunes update to 12, it suddenly would not work.  I followed, to a T, all instructions to uninstall all Apples software, in the correct order, reboot, download the latest iTunes, run as administrator, plug in the iPhone 5S, let the driver install, and then finish.
Along the way, I received the error that "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  I am the administrator and have privileges.  (I previously followed instructions from anther thread to change the read-only privileges for Apple folders, but to no avail.  I also deleted every file with the word Apple in it after I uninstalled everything.)  I did a retry and then an ignore during installation of the AMD error, which I have received 10 times.
The other error I keep getting is:  "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7."  I have done that 20 times.
Other frequent error:  "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 998)."
I followed other threads suggestions to install Windows .NET versions 3.5 and 4.0.  No help.  I also looked for various specific Apple files in various folders for DLLs, etc.  Not present.  I have rebooted 50 times and tried different users on my home account as well.  Nothing.
I also followed instructions to Manage my computer under "services."  Under Apple Mobile Device, the setting is for "automatic."  When I try to get it to "start," the error I receive is "Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer.  Error 1053:  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."  (I followed previous thread instructions to use the CMD prompt to stop it.  That caused problems because the status was then "stopped," but I was able to restart it later once I figured that out -- but with the 1053 error again.)
I think I've tried every suggestion in every thread for the four errors I keep getting (AMD failed to start; iTunesHelper Error 7; Windows error 998; and AMD Error 1053.)  I am fresh out of ideas and very frustrated.  I mostly want to make sure I don't lose my music and photos, which I was about to sync.
The only other thing I see that is strange on my computer (which I discovered along the way) is that I cannot receive automatic windows updates and have not had an update since 2012.  My iTunes worked a month ago, so that was obviously not a show-stopper in the past, but perhaps there is a Vista update I need for iTunes 12?  I have service pack 2 for Vista.  I have followed all threads to try to set my windows to automatic update, but no joy there either.  It checks for updates and then fails.  I followed instructions and did run an installation to install windows automatic updates, but that doesn't work either.  I tried 10 times.  It runs and takes a while, but is never able to successfully update windows.  It says "checking for updates" for a while.  Then it dies.  My last update was 6/19/12 (failed) and it says the most recent check was 6/22/12, but I have tried 20 times on 10/31/14 and 11/1/14.
When asked to "Install new Windows Update software" to check for updates, I have done so 10 times.  It downloads and installs, but never works.
It's an old Dell desktop computer from 2006, and I'm using an iPhone 5S.  I am fresh out of ideas.  Anyone really smart here?
    Thanks.
    Tristan

Upon latest reboot, I also received this error message:  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to terminate the application."
Then I got the iTunesHelper not installed correctly error again.
Then the "Windows can't check for updates" error message.
Then "Apple Push has stopped working."  Then a quick DEP error message that disappeared but said something about Apple Push being closed.
I'm also getting denials of service logged by McAffee.  Not sure if I'm getting a virus/attack or not.
Not sure if it's a problem with my old desktop machine, my Windows Vista updates, or iTunes, but I'm very frustrated and out of ideas to try.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Audigy 2 ZS Vista Driver not install

Every time I try to install the Vista 32 bit drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS I get this message telling me that its missing layout.bin and that I need to insert disk one. This is driving me nuts and the lack of tech support help is not helping, how do I fix this?!?

I finally found a workaround for this.
For some strange reason the driver files are being deleted before they get installed.
In order to successfully install the driver perform the following:
. Run the driver file and click next until you reach the language selection screen.
Be sure NOT to go past this point.
    2. Goto "X:\Windows\Temp\CRF00Y\" and copy all the files in there to a folder on your desktop. (Where "X" is the dri've you installed windows on and "Y" is the last visibile number, for me it was CRF006)
    3. Run through setup until you reach the "Cannot find file layout.bin" error and then cancel it.
    4. Goto the new folder you created on your desktop and run setup from there.
    5. Enjoy partially working sound
Also found this on the install shield Website.
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q0892
PS. Although I have the driver installed, here's a small sample of the quality of Audio I'm receiving. http://www.zyned.com/upload/Recording.wma
This was recorded using Sound Recorder in Windows Vista, via "What U Hear" mode with the volume set at 20% to rule out distortion caused by channel overload. At least the name of the recorder was right, it was exactly what I was hearing.
If you want the original it can be downloaded from the Machinae Supremacy website free. It's called Anthem Apocalyptica.Message Edited by Redwing on 04-8-200706:50 PM

  • BootCamp made for Windows Vista would not install in WIndows 7

    Hi,
I am trying to install Bootcamp drivers on Windows 7 with the Mac OS CD that came with my Intel-based iMac. The problem is that I bought my iMac when the latest Windows was Vista, and it would not install on Windows 7. The Bootcamp drivers for Windows 7 on Apple Support pages are "UPDATES" that require BootCamp 3.0 already installed in Windows. However, I cannot install BootCamp 3.0 in the first place, because it would be installed only on Vista. What should I do to have BootCamp installed on my Windows 7 so that I can set the default booting OS to be Mac OS again?

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.
    The Forums are at the bottom of the main Apple Discussions page under Windows Compatible Technology. Here is a link;

  • How do I install Windows Vista in my R500 that I just put a new hard drive into?

I was given an R500 that had the hard drive removed by the previous owner for security reasons. I bought a charger and a new hard drive and intended to install Windows Vista that I bought a while ago and never used. I charged up the battery. The battery is good. I installed the hard drive. I'm pretty sure I got that right. Then I turned on the laptop. I expected to see a menu giving me some hint as to what to do next but all I see is ThinkPad in big white letters and underneath "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button." I stared at the screen for a while and then pushed the blue ThinkVantage button. Nothing happened. I opened the disc drive and put in the installation disk thinking that should bring up a menu. It didn't. Nothing happened.
I'm reasonably experienced with computers and have installed hardware and operating systems before but this has my stymied.
Anybody have any idea about how this is supposed to work?

Actually, I tried that and nothing worked. Couldn't get past the opening screen. Fortunately, I have several other Thinkpads of various models that I got for a few bucks each (without hard drives) from a business that was replacing all their laptops. I pulled the hard drive out and put it in another R500 and, after a few fits and starts, got Vista up and running and then found out that the touchpad was flakey and the mouse pointer would freeze. All the USB ports were broken so I couldn't use my wireless mouse. Out came the hard drive and my next try was in an R61. Funny thing. Vista opened right up but there's no touchpad on the R61. (You can tell I'm new to Thinkpads.) Took me a few minutes of scratching my head and googling to figure out that the red button moves the mouse pointer on the screen. Now I have one good one so far and I'll see how many of the others I can make work.
    Thanks for your help.
