CS3 install problem

Hi,
I'm trying to download Dreamweaver CS3 trial and i can.. but
when i try to install it i get a message saying
"A problem occured while extracting some files. Check
available space on your computer and the write privileges on the
destintion folder"
there is over a TB of space and I've tried many folders all
saying the same thing.. it's my PC and i'm the Admin on it ..
Any ideas?

type the exact error you get into google and see what pops
up. Have you preciously had another version of dreamweaver on your
computer and it was uninstalled by chance? Maybe email adobes
support and let them know. But I am sure someone else has gotten
this error before so if you search google Im sure you will find
your answer. I just downloaded the trial also and didnt get that
message. Google is the best for answers..

    Hi,
I have my original copy of CS3 and have used it daily for 7 years, but now will not open.  It told me to contact Adobe, I contacted Adobe, but they would not help, and said to come to this forum.  I am in a bind, as I had a project to finish today, and it looks like I will be dealing with this problem instead.  I have had a issue similar in the past, but Adobe helped me fix it, but now do not want to fix the flaw in their system.  Guess they want people to pay to upgrade?  Well, I do not need anything other than CS3, nor do I like shelling out thousands for things I do not need.  Anyhow, I am in a bind to get back up and running.  Any help is appreciated.
I am using Creative Suite 3 web premium on Windows Vista 64 bit.
I have been searching on the forums for help, but nothing seems to work.  I have even tried a clean install of a fresh download from the Adobe site, and the problem is worse now.  All it will install is Adobe Acrobat 8 and Shared Components.  I get errors for the other contents, and it will not tell me why they are not installing.  It does ask me to define a path to Adobepdf.dll.  I did find some info. on how to do that, but it still does not work.  My photoshop was working fine yesterday, and has been for years.  Not sure what the problem is, I have not changed anything.
Thanks in advance for any help to resolve this problem.
    Jason

I was online yesterday with TechSupport for about an hour.   It appears that there is an issue with the "host" file which was filled with script from adobe that was causing it not to connect to the internet.
This is on a mac.... not sure on a PC
Click on Finder, then Go Menu on top> Then Go To folder
    Type: /etc    (with the slash)
    Press Enter
You will see a file named Hosts
Copy the hosts file and paste to desktop.
Open the Hosts file which is copied on the Desktop.
Delete all the entries and make it blank.
Now copy and paste exactly this part----  ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface# when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.##127.0.0.1 localhost
Save the file and close it.
Now copy this file from desktop and paste in etc folder. I mean replace the old hosts with the new one from desktop.
First Save the file and close it.
My host file that was filled with a ton of Adobe scripts... once they were gone.  Problem solved. ... for now.   My issue was that the "register later" option was no longer available.

  • InDesign CS3 installing problem

Hi, I know this is an old version of ID but my son has to use it for his online summer school course and I'm having trouble installing it. I'm able to run setup but then nothing else happens. The only Icon that it gives me is Adobe Bridge CS3. I doesn't even load to where I can put in registration key? I'm lost with this and I'm not really that tech smart as you can probably tell.
    thanks.

    Hi Kelli,
    Here's a helpful step-by-step on downloading purchased products: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006208
If you can try these steps and let us know if you're still having a problem with your install that would be great.

  • Flash CS3 Install Problems!

    Hello all,
I recently downloaded Flash CS3 Trial from the Adobe website.
Once downloaded I extract the files from the EXE file. Then I go
into the extracted files and select setup.exe. I give the program
permission to run in Vista (as prompted) and the Flash Setup window
    displays...
The problem is the Setup window displays for a brief second
or two before dissapearing without a trace!! No error message etc.
    It just dissapears...
I am running Windows Vista. Why is this happening? It is most
annoying!! I cant even install the product!!
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!! :-)

Funny enough, I got the same error when I tried to download
    and install the
trial version. Best advice I can give is to contact support.

  • Flash CS3 install problem

I have had the creative suite 3 for a while but prior to that I installed a demo of flash CS3. I have never really needed flash up until now so though I would install it properly from my install disc but it won't let me.
It keeps saying flash 3 and flash video encoder already installed, probably because of the demo which lapsed yonks ago. I have tried inputting the serial number from the back of the dvd case but it won't recognise it and can't get past the trial expired window. All my other cs3 apps that I use are fine. I have tried the adobe uninstaller in utilities but it keeps giving an error, I have also deactivated as well but still no luck.
Is there a particular file I can delete to reset the trial thingy to then input my serial number again or how can I delete everything flash and start again from the installer?
It's driving me mad, at this rate I'll have to look at alternative apps.

Hi, thanks for the reply, wasn't quite as simple as that as I did try this numerous times.
The reason behind it is in fact an error that adobe introduced when beta testing and releasing the trial versions, apparantly CS3 is notourious for these errors.
The only way round it is to download CS3 clean from the downloads section and run it in terminal. Following the instructions it does an entire cleanup and deletion of any CS3 software allowing for a clean install afterwards.
    Worked like a charm.
    Thanks any way.

  • Dreamweave cs3 install problem

Currently running DW8 on Windows Vista, I thought I would
have a look at CS3. I downloaded the trial version of DW CS3 and
ran it. After extracting the files, the setup starts ('Initializing
Adobe setup') but then immediately disappears with no messages.
I've tried running as Administrator but the same happens.
A search for a fix has turned up nothing so far. Any ideas

  • InDesign CS3 Install Problem Wierd

    Dear Friends,
I just got a new computer [ThinkPad t500 running vista ultimate] and wanted to reinstall ID Cs3 and I get a message that my screen reolution has to be upgrated to at lewast 1050 by 780 or whatever. I am now running at 1680X1050 so what';s going on? How can I overcome this ???
    Thanks
    Susan

Try 1440 x 900, which is what my widescreen Toshiba is set for. The installer didn't complain about that, but I run XP, so it may not be strictly comparable.
Have you got UAC turned off? It also helps to start in minimalist mode (that's not the right term, but I just woke up -- it doesn't load non-Microsoft startup items, but is more functional than safe mode, and is equivalent to running the system configuration utility and turning all that stuff off).

  • CS3 reinstall problem - asking for uninstalled CS4 beta

I have a PowerBook G4 with 1.5 Gb RAM running Mac OS 10.4.11. I have the CS3 Suite installed and last year downloaded a beta copy of Fireworks CS4. After using it a bit, I uninstalled Fireworks CS4 with the Adobe uninstaller.
I recently had a problem with Bridge and decided to uninstall and reinstall the software. I uninstalled Photoshop CS3 (in order to uninstall Bridge) and when I began to reinstall Photoshop, the installer ask me to insert the Fireworks CS4 disk! Since I don't have that disk, I hit cancel and the install terminated (I tried this multiple times and rebooted each time)
I then downloaded and ran Adobe's CS4 Cleanup app. It found NO CS4 apps to clean up.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Mark

Thanks Neil and Buko for your input. Here's where things stand now:
    1) I uninstalled FW CS4
    2) I uninstalled CS3
    3) I ran Cleanup Script
    4) I repaired permissions using Disk First Aid
    5) I reinstalled CS3
The problems with Bridge remained (sluggish, won't display icons properly, won't show a preview image, won't operate the folder list, etc.).
So I called Adobe support. Unfortunately, because I am having problems installing CS3 and NOT CS4, support is NOT FREE. The rep was helpful though -- she pointed me to document number 331594 (Diagnosing Bridge problems) and told me to start there. I followed EVERY step . . . disable start-up scripts, reverted to original preferences, cleaned up the cache, disabled the folder windows, and the problems remain.
    Guess I'll have to pay . . .

  • InCopy/InDesign CS3 Assignment Problem

    Hello everyone--
For the past three years we've used Version Cue CS3 for workflow on our publication.  For the most part its worked fine.  Recently though, we've had to get a new computer for an office on the West Coast and a new router on our office on the East Coast (the operating system we use on the East Coast is Windows XP Profesional.)  The computer on the West Coast is running Windows 7, and it seems InCopy CS3 installed on it without a problem--until it came time to do our publication.
The way our system is set up is the West Coast machine uses a VPN tunnel to see our network here--so all it really has to do is connect to the Version Cue server's IP address.  This set up worked fine when the machine was a Windows XP based machine, but since the changeover, InCopy doesn't seem to be reading the assignment files correctly.  For example, on an Indesign File the copy fits fine and dandy in the layout, and the assignment looks okay when I open it up on InCopy over here.  When InCopy opens it up on the Windows 7 machine, the body copy is invariably 3-5 lines over and any formatting changes made from the Windows 7 machine, like changing words to italics, won't be reflected on the updated assignments file. (I confirmed this by emailing our West Coast editor the assignment file directly and InCopy CS3 still wasn't reading it correctly.)  Also, at one point we apparently lost some big changes made over the weekend but changes like new headlines held.  Any ideas on why this is happening?
Also, and I'm not sure this is related, but since we installed our new RV082 router, we've been getting strange "Version Cue server offline messages" every so often, and then when we go into a project Version Cue suddenly reads it as "online and connected" again. InDesign CS3 often hangs whenever we try to open up a file on the Version Cue server.  The only way we've been able to get InDesign to start up is to delete the recovery folders and synchronize everything first--this, needless to say, has been a bit of a time waster.
All our programs are CS3 and except for the West Coast machine, all are running Windows XP pro.
    Thanks for your help!

We are installing and using the software under the administrator logins.
My main concern is that we purchased computers that have a processor that is incompatible with Adobe InCopy/InDesign CS3.   We purchased two types of PC's, some with AMD Atholon II processors and some with Intel Core2 vpro processors.  InDesign/Incopy CS3 were going to go on the Intel's (more power computer) and the InCopy was going to only go on the AMD's.
Prior to receiving the CS3 versions of the software, I hadn't been aware that was the version we were being assigned by our corporate office.  After looking at the requirements of CS3 on the adobe site, it only mentions Intel Processors as basic requirements.
(We purchasd the computers with AMD's to save some money....the users requiring InCopy didn't need "as much computer" as the InDesign users).
Could the processor be the problem?

  • Premiere CS3 Reinstall Problem

I am currently running Windows XP Pro on a Matrox Axio system in which the CS3 Creative Suite was already installed for me upon purchase. As of late I've had problems with Quicktime (Premiere and After Effects no longer see it as a compatible format) and I was hoping that as a solution, I could reinstall Premiere and After Effects from the original discs.
This theory might work but when I get the disc to the Progress portion of the reinstall, it asks me to "insert CS3 Production Premium Disc 1 into drive \\prod\Adobeapps". I don't claim to be an expert but I just cannot figure out what the installer is asking me to do and I'm very frustrated. I tried a multitude of Quicktime-related fixes that didn't yield results and I was really hoping to try this particular fix to see if it works. Does anyone have experience with this error? If so, what was your method of bypassing it?
If this helps in any way, Quicktime stopped working with my system when one day Premiere couldn't get past the CompilerAIFF.prm during the initial program load. I went back a few hours on a system restore and when I got Premiere up and running again, Quicktime was no longer a viable option. I've tried totally reinstalling stand alone Quicktime (and I did use the Windows Installer Clean Up to remove iTunes and Quicktime before the reinstall) and I've tried repairing Quicktime in the Control Panel, and helped. In fact, attempting to repair Quicktime led to a "fatal error on install" and put me back where Premiere got hung up on the CompilerAIFF.prm again.
Any help I could get would be much appreciated.

  • CS3 reinstall problem

Recently my laptop crashed. I bought a new and installed CS3 premium. The old laptop I could reanimate just so long to deactivate the CS3 install.
Now my CS3 keeps asking for a registration key prior to CS3. I got the CS2 running on a desktop mac, so I copied the registration key of the about box. It doesn't work. Probably the key in the about is not complete.
The install CD of CS and CS2 where lost in a move two years ago (I was happy to see CS3 installed with no hassle on the old laptop)
Is there a way to retrieve my serial-number (tried looking trough for application.xml but there was only a 'demo-key')

A warm thank you to all of you.
Got no CD, and no invoice to prove the buy prior to cs3-update. I do have an order confirmation (You're right, I also wonder why & how I managed to save that...) I registered all updates with Adobe so I keep my fingers crossed. I informed Adobe CS (Customer service that is) about my problem. Hope to hear (a good tiding) soon.
An no I'm not with a company, nor am I a company myself. I earn my living in a creative job not related to designing for print or web (laying carpets). I use Indesign CS just for fun.

  • I have Illustrator CS3 installed.  When I click on a save document from last year, I get a message that I cannot use this product, contact administor or Adobe.  What do I do?

I have Adobe Illustrator CS3 installed on my Windows 7 computer.  I created art last year.  I clicked on it today to modify it and use it for my holiday card.  I got a message that I am not allowed to use this product and must contact my administrator or Adobe.  I am the only user of this home computer and the administrator.  Why can't I use the program and what do I do?  It mentioned uninstalling it and reinstalling it.  Is that what I have to do?  I can't seem to contact Adobe directly anymore.

You have not provided the exact error message (including any numeric codes). From the looks of it this sounds like the licensing system simply failed and indeed a reinstall is the only proper way to fix it. run the cleaner tool and reinstall.

  • Can't change all files to open with CS2 with CS3 installed

I have InDesign CS2 and CS3 installed on my macbook (10.5). CS3 is buggy to the point where its unusable, but I need it installed because once in awhile I receive files saved in that format.
I wanted to change, through any Get Info window, all Indesign files to Open With CS2 instead of CS3. Problem is, whenever I hit "apply to all files" the OS just instantly changes the program back to CS3.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Let me be a bit clearer.
When I installed CS3, it switched the "Open With" program association of all my CS2 files to CS3. This means the icons for all my CS2 files changed to CS3 icons. And when I double click on my CS2 files, they open in CS3, even if I already have CS2 open. If I have CS2 open, the system just starts opening CS3.
Worse yet, upon installing CS3, all of my CS2 files were CHANGED to CS3 files (looking under "kind" in the "info" windows.
I had thought I could just change all INDD files to asssociate with CS2, but when I go to "Get Info" on a file (CS2 or 3, doesn't matter which), and change the "Open with" to CS2, and hit "Change All", the "Open With" Just changes right back to CS3. Augh.
For now, I just use the "Open" dialogue in CS2 or drag and drop the files. Pain in the rear. So I thought I'd post here.
And though I don't want this to be a discussion of whether CS3 is buggy or not, I'll just say that my system was plagued by the CS3/Leopard NavSvcs and Hide bugs, (only a problem in Mac OS 10.5), both of which have been recognized by Apple and Adobe, as well as thoroughly blogged about by Tim Cole and MacFixit, and countless others.
My favorite is this from the InDesign 5.0.2 Readme file:
This update does not address recently identified issues running Adobe InDesign CS3 on Mac OS
X Leopard (v10.5.1). Known issues include the following:
Users are unable to hide InDesign CS3 using the cmd+h keyboard shortcut.
InDesign CS3 may unexpectedly quit when using the Place, Save, Save As or Export
commands using either the OS or Adobe dialog boxes.
Unfortunately, there are no workarounds for these known issues.
Yes, that's right. I'm one of those lucky folks who's experiencing the known bug where InDesign CS3 crashes when you try to open or save a file. I'm not a troll, I just simply can't use it! Haha.
