CS3 installation problem

Hi, I am an engineer of bangladesh television. We are using HP xw8400 with CS3 production premium and matrox axio le. because of Operating system problem, I have recovered OS (XP-sp2) from Recovery drive. I am trying to install a fresh copy of CS3 production premium. At the begining of installation i put the serial key for installation. After installing when i launch adobe premiere CS3 then activation process begins. in the activation wizerd my serial key is showed well and I click next to activate over internet. another window opens, where ask me to select the product from a list which we own and put serial again. In the list Adobe premiere CS3, after effect cs3 etc are listed but CS3 production premium is not listed. When I put my serial key again here then it is not matched with the product. How can I solve this problem and activate this???? please help.

Is sounds like you may be installing a CS3 upgrade version, and this will require you to enter the serial number for a qualifying product that you would be upgrading from, for instance Production Premium CS2 perhaps. You will need the serial number from your previous version.
Thank you
Jeff Pulera

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Installation Problems

    Hello,
I have just got Dreamweaver CS3 and Photoshop CS3 and have
had some real issues with installing them! Here is my situation
    explained.
    I first installed Dreamweaver CS3 after un-installing a
previous version of Dreamweaver (the one from Macromedia) and it
installed as normal. I then tried to install Photoshop but it only
got as far as 8.46% and would go no further! I did a system restore
and tried installing Photoshop before Dreamweaver and it installed!
I then tried to install Dreamweaver but once the "Adobe Setup" got
to 100% it disappeared and the Installation screen did not appear,
in fact nothing happened! I went in an endless loop of installing
one before the other and have landed and having Photoshop on the
computer and not been able to install Dreamweaver! As I mentioned,
if I don't have Photoshop installed, Dreamweaver will install and
    vice-versa.
I'm thinking it is a conflict problem, but I dunno where to
begin looking. I've cleared the computer of useless files and
registry entries (I use a program called CCleaner) and I also went
    into
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and did a search for
'dreamweaver' and deleted everything that came up, just so it'd be
    like Dreamweaver was never installed.
I used the CS3 Cleaner because I previously had the PS BETA
but it never worked right and it kept failing when deleting stuff,
so I dunno why that was.
If anyone knows any reason why this is doing it and have any
ways of helping me out, I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
P.S. I am on Windows Vista Home Premium

You may experiencing the same problem that I had. If you had
a previous Beta installation installed, it may be preventing the
    new installation.

  • Solution for PS CS3 installation problem on Vista does not work.

I encountered the much discussed 2739 error when trying to install PS CS3 on Vista Ultimate. I followed the proposed solution. But instead of a dialog box I received the message: not recognized. I have the latest update of Java installed and I have IE as my default browser.
    What now? Return CS3?

I did and got a friendly guy who apparently had never heard of the 2739 error. I was hoping to get some support here. In another thread I read something about holding the installation window until installation starts. I can try it, but I doubt I am quick enough before the error window opens.

  • Adobe CS3 installation problem in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I cannot install Adobe CS3 Production Premium in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (fresh clean install). I have tried everything, including turning off the anti-virus software. It just pops up asking if I want to allow the installer to make changes to Windows, etc and when I click yes it just closes and does nothing... Has anyone been able to get CS3 installed in Windows 7?
The only reason I have a fresh install is because my Ultra CS3 that I had loaded in addition to CS4 package timed out after 30 days and I really need to get access to Ultra CS3 to finish this project. I was planning installing just one app (maybe Photoshop CS3) from the CS3 install so that I can enter my CS3 Production Premium reg info in the system so tat Ultra CS3 will work. I can just start over and do another 30 days with the Ultra in DEMO mode (it does not tell you it's running in demo mode by the way!) and finish this project, but I was looking for a more permanent solution. Once I put CS4 back on, the CS3 package installed over it...
Does anyone knw what to do in this situation? i.e. Could I install it into a Windows XP Pro 32-bit edition and perform and UPGRADE to Windows 7?
Has anyone else ran into this inability to install CS3 in Windows 7? I am running the CS3 install from the Adobe folder on the desktop that it maes when you run the files downloaded from Adobe.com - I get nothing. The task manager shows something open for a split second and then closes right away?! This is very frustrating.  I have even run the CS3 clean script just in case. Any help would be appreciated!

i had issues installing cs4 products, my reponse to others with cs4 issues may help you:
i see 216 others have posted questions on this issue on this forum from searching "setup.exe", including myself, so i'm just responding to the recent ones.
i recently downloaded trails of flash cs4 and web premium package cs4 (took a day to download at high speed starbuck's internet). couldnt get the setup.exe to work or the uninstaller to work. surfing tech support over next couple weeks to try various agents was useless and expensive until i finally reached someone with useful info. all the agents had foriegn accents and read from scripts and web support pages until yesterday, when i reached a guy who told me two things i'll report to various forums addressing this same issue:
    1. download the "windows install clean up" program from window's website (google: windows install cleanup) to uninstall everything adobe. then go through your folders to erase any adobe remnants. this program is different from the uninstaller that doesnt work in the programs and features area of the control panel when you try to uninstall adobe products from there.
    2. windows explorer 8, the newest version, DOES NOT download adobe software properly and leaves things out, causing all sorts of issues including the setup.exe program not working. download firefox browser from mozella (google: firefox) and use it for all adobe downloads. apparently the old windows explorer 7 will work, but if you already have explorer 8 installed its easiest to just use firefox.
i'm spending the next couple days downloading the 4.14 G web premium trail with firefox and will report if this works.

  • Photoshop CS3 Installation Problems

A customer has purchased Photoshop CS3 & is having problems installing on Vista Business
If I logon to the Users PC as Administrator & install it there, what steps will I need to take to access it from the Users account
    Thanks

Well, who told you it was for a Mac? If you bought it at a retail store, you should be able to take it back there and exchange it for a Mac copy. If you bought it used, you should demand a refund from whoever you bought it from.
Of course, that is all assuming it's actually a Windows copy, and there's not something else going on... What does it say on the CD? My Photoshop Elements CD is very clearly labeled "Macintosh."

  • Adobe InDesign CS3 Installation Problem...Over One Year and Counting

Well, it's been over a year since I purchased the Pagemaker to InDesign upgrade. I've tried at lease 15 times to load the software with the same "shared components failed to install" errors.
I've tried the Web for answers, the Clean-up utility and even called the tech support line. The answer (after waiting at least an hour on the phone) was to back up all of my files (on my time, not theirs) and run the scrub utility with the "undocumented" option 4...but watch out...
As a user of Pagemaker for nearly 15 years, I can't believe that Adobe (formerly Aldus) would release a product that cannot be used. I spent a bit over $200 for the upgrade...they got my money...I got a DVD of software that cannot be installed successfully.
As a customer for over 3 versions of the Pagemaker software, I find it a bit odd that I would have to spend hours on my computer trying to get Adobe software to install properly.
Is it just me, or have others given up on this?

    > and even called
    > the tech support line. The answer (after waiting at least an hour on
    > the phone) was to back up all of my files (on my time, not theirs)
    > and run the scrub utility with the "undocumented" option 4...but
    > watch out...
And so what happened? I think Adobe is the first place you should go
with installation issues, and you should (and they should too) persist
until you get past the problem.
Tech support is a PITA. They make you do things you don't want to do
(like back up all your files on your own time); they make you jump
through silly hoops and crawl under the desk pulling parts out of your
computer; but they also have an obligation to get it working on your
    computer, whatever it takes.
Call them back. Get a number. Keep track of who you talk to. Ask them to
bump you up to the next level. Keep trying.

  • CS3 Installation Problem, please help!

Hi there ive been trying to install Photoshop CS3 and having great difficulty, it will only install the shared components and nothing else, Ive gone through all the tutorials on the Adobe help pages and still not had any luck, I've tried looking through the log and the only thing I could come across is the following:
    [    5028] Sat Apr 11 00:41:19 2009 ERROR
Default installation language not valid, falling back to first supported language.
    [    5028] Sat Apr 11 00:41:19 2009 DEBUG
couldn't find any info on the error code or anything, ive uploaded my installation log here:
    http://www.2shared.com/file/5313464/86af2f33/Adobe_Photoshop_CS3_10.html
please help! I am using windows Vista but not sure if its 32 or 64

just tried that and still does not want to work, really just does not want to install for some reason!
I did try this and it wouldnt let me allow inhertible permissions to the admin on Solution 11 of this: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401401 this part here:
Select both "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" and "Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions," on the Permissions tab.
Click OK in the "Advanced Security Settings" dialog box. Windows will now reset the permissions for each child object to correspond with its parent.
If you can't change permissions or rename that key, then contact Microsoft or your hardware vendor for assistance.
not sure if that has something to do with it?
appart from that i'm completly out of ideas, very frustrating as i have been trying for days to get this to install! any more suggestions are welcome

  • InDesign CS3 installation problems

    Hi
I've just bought an Adobe InDesign CS3 but I'm not able to install it:/ When pressing setup.exe an installation process starts but suddenly crashes and an error occurs: Critical errors were found in setup - Incompatible payloads already installed. I have Win XP with all system requirements. Can you help me?

Search the Knowledgebase for manual removal and you should find a reference, and a link, to the CS3 cleanup script.
The downside of running this is that it's going to remove all things Adobe, but it should leave you with a system ready to do a clean install.

  • CS3 Master collection installation problem on Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi Guys
    Please can you advise
I am encountering problems with the installation of CS3 Master Collection on Windows 7 64 bit, initially my hard drive crashed and performed a dump.
Subsequent attempts to install CS 3 has resulted in failure to install 12 components, essentially the individual software products including photoshop, encore, illustrator etc.
I have re-performed the installation several times with the same installation error.
I believe CS3 to be compatible with Windows 7 64 bit
Any thoughts, guidance on how to rectify the problem and achieve successful installation.
I do have Adobe Reader X and Flash player X already installed. I assume these should not cause an issue with the CS3 installation
    Thxs in anticipation

Na, you have it all backwards. CS3 is neithe officially tested nor endorsed, certified or supported on W7. Many users still use it succsfully, but there ae no guarantees whatsoever. Furthermore using Acrobat X ma exactly be the problem due to certain PDF components being shared acoss apps and newer versions not being compatible with the old installer. Therefore removing those parts and reinstlling them later is advisable. Beyond hee's a procedure that should work:
    - use the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool
    - install CS3
    - uninstall CS3 via the Add or Remove Programs system control panel
    - install CS3 again
This convoluted procedure is necessary due to bugs in the installer which otherwise prevent things from working.

  • CS3 'freezed' installation problem on Windows Vista Home Premium.

Hi! I searched everywhere for answer that installation of my PS CS3 is freezed in moment on the screen.
I installed Acrobat Reader, Dreamweaver cs3 only. Both in English language.
I tried to uninstall, then install, using cs3clean, but it`s nothing change in my situation. Even I tried to copy whole content of my cs3 installation disk to hard drive.
Why installation is freezed ? The screen:

    Kasprzak,
How long did you allow it to sit like this? Only reason that I ask is that I recently did an install on my laptop, and the DVD drive was EIDE and it took probably 20 mins. to get through each disc.

  • Solution? CS 3/Windows 7- 64 bit installation problem

I found an answer for at least one of the MAJOR issues installing CS3 on Windows 7-64 bit ...
The problem: CS3 installation goes smoothly, but when trying to open Photoshop, you get a blank Photoshop window and an endlessly spinning curser. Also, no other programs will open, yet if you check the program files, they seem complete. You may even discover that one of the non-working programs is actually open (but not accessible to you) somewhere in the depths of your computer. An error message may eventually appear (if you are lucky), which reads something to the effect: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this product by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT Administrator or Adobe Customer Support for help."
Check this link for the solution, which worked for me after four weeks of frustration and three Adobe problem tickets that were declared closed without resolution of this problem:
    http://www.megaleecher.net/Flexnet_Licensing_Service
Short form is that the Flexnet licensing feature for Windows 7 is not set properly and prevents CS3 from registration/activation. It must read "start" and "automatic" - not "stop" and/or "manual." You get to Flexnet Licensing as follows: Start Menu>Run> (type in) services.msc>enter
Then double click FlexnetLic in the menu, change the Stop to Start (by clicking on the word) and the Manual to Automatic. Click save. Restart computer and launch any CS3 program. This should bring up the rest of the installation process beginnning where you enter your serial number(s). From that time on, for me, everything was operational and still is (Whoopee!!!!!!)
Side Note to Adobe: When I first encountered this problem FOUR weeks ago, I talked three different times with Technical Assistance personnel. The second of these three could have solved the problem - he had the right information, as I can now see. The problem: I could NOT understand his English. His accent was very heavy and the phone connection was terrible. He struggled as I did with such simple things as the word "start" where he had to literally spell it out four times before I understood what he was saying. We eventually got to the Flexnet screen and possibly could have solved the issue right then. But the communication process was so labored that it didn't work. I'm guessing now that a step was missed somewhere, because now all is okey dokey, after using the information in the above link.

Pat, thank you for your very prompt response.
Regarding my FLF files I will try the VLC Media Player as you suggested, thank you.
Now regarding the Flash Player being a browser add on in my IE, I checked through Tools / Manage add-ons / All Add-ons and it displays only Adobe Shockwave Object from the Adobe range of products. Adobe Flash Player is not an Add-on in my system.
By uninstalling it (when I was trying to install a standalone product), did I delete this Add-on from the available Add-ons from my IE?
And if I did that, how do I reinstate it? (As you said a standalone Flash Player would have its limitations).
    I would appreciate your advice.

  • Cannot install Adobe CS3, Installer fails

    Hi, everybody,
I hope somebody can help me here, as for almost 3 weeks now I am trying to install Adobe's CS3 Design Premium and I can't get it to work. Adobe's tech support is very friendly and comes with solutions and things to try now and then but first response time is really slow (48h) and secondly they haven't found a solution yet, though being escalated up in Tech Support levels already.
    Problem:
Can't install CS3 (English version), Design Premium
    Platform:
WinXP Professional SP2 2002 (all patches) US
    Intel Pentium M 1.7 GHz
    1.5 GB RAM
    C:, D: Partition
On C: still 25 GB available
    Computer is in domain.
Have tried to install it as local Admin and Domain-User (who is also in local Admin group with all rights).
Furthermore CS2 is installed, Macromedia, Office products etc.
    Details:
    1. Can start installer, all screens are accessible, can make entries everywhere.
    2. Installation starts and progress bar appears.
    3. Installers runs to the end (without any problem), summary screen comes.
    4. Summary says that some products could not be installed.
    5. Installer installed the "smaller" apps, like Acrobat, Device Central, Bridge etc. BUT NOT Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
Side effect is that, as Acrobat and Distiller cannot be activated by itself, I cannot use them anymore and the CS3 installer does remove these two CS2 products. Well, working with Reader currently :-(
Also, the numerous uninstallations (45 min!) remove also PDF plug-ins and Flash plug-ins, so a terrible situation to be in.
What I have tried so far (and which hasn't worked):
    1. Ran CHKDSK over the hard disks, no issues.
    2. Installed from hard disk (instead DVD).
    3. Disabled all services and startups, as well as firewalls, virus scanners etc.
    4. Let the cs3clean script run (provided by Adobe, which resolves problems if you had CS3 beta installed, which I didn't), with level 1 and 2.
    5. Tried to install only specific applications (not all).
    6. Ran MSCLeanup app.
    7. Analyzed CS3 Install log for FAILED, Error Code 3 etc., no dramatic entries. Only thing that sometimes appears:
    - Error 1303, not enough privileges for CONFIG.MSI, which seems to be a known MS issue when the hard disk responds too late. Of course privileges for CONFIG.MSI are there, also tried reapplying them, deleting folder etc.
    8. Applied privileges new to all folders.
    9. Ran a registry cleaner
    10. Deinstalled Bridge 1.0
    11. Tried it in Safe Mode, not possible (Installer says cannot be run in sfae mode).
    More:
Adobe tech support also suggested to uninstall Bonjour, but I cannot find any entry and therefore have no idea how to uninstall. Add/Remove programs doesn't list it.
As the Installer runs about one hour, it is not only time-consuming, it also kills my productivity, as no Browser, Adobe or MS product can run when the installer is running.
Googled for error 1303 and CONFIG.MSI similar problems. Found numerous entries with CS3 installation issues, with some the CS3 Beta clean script helped, others had success with copying installation folder to hard disk, everybody something else (or no solution). And nothing that helped me.
As I know haven't heard from Adobe Tech Support for four working days, does anybody have any idea what else I could try?
    Thanks
    Matthias

There are log files that record the process of installation. If errors occur, they will be recorded in those log-files.
You should open up the log file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers. The file is called something like Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium 1.0.log.gz (depending on your install type).
Pay attention to the file extension: it should be .log.gz and not just .log
To open it you should have a program like Winzip or Winrar, because it's an archive file containing a text file.
Search in the text file for the error message. Search for "Error ".
In my case it was "Error 1401.Could not create key \Software\Classes\.svg\OpenWithList\Illustrator.exe. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
    Now follow these steps:
    1. Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator in Windows XP.
    2. On the Windows TaskBar, choose Start, Run, type "regedit" (without quotes), and click OK.
    3. Navigate to the following key that was of your error message (in my case it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.svg\OpenWithList)
    4. Right-click "OpenWithList" and choose Permissions.
    5. Make sure your user name displays under "Group or user names."
NOTE: In the Windows XP Pro edition, the user name displays next to the word, Administrators.
In the Windows XP Home edition. the user name may display without the word, Administrator.
If you are not sure whether or not you are logged in as an Administrator, you can verify user rights in the Control Panel, User Accounts.
    6. Verify that "System" also displays under "Group and User Names."
If the System name is not there, add it as follows:
    7. In the Permissions for OpenWithList dialog box, click Add.
    8. Type "System" (without quotes) in "Enter the object names to select" and click OK.
    9. In "Permissions for System," make sure "Full control" and "Read" are set to "Allow."
    10. Click OK, exit the Registry, and proceed with the install.
Read the tech note as well: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402035&sliceId=1
My problem was solved this way. Good luck!

  • CS3 reinstall problem - asking for uninstalled CS4 beta

I have a PowerBook G4 with 1.5 Gb RAM running Mac OS 10.4.11. I have the CS3 Suite installed and last year downloaded a beta copy of Fireworks CS4. After using it a bit, I uninstalled Fireworks CS4 with the Adobe uninstaller.
I recently had a problem with Bridge and decided to uninstall and reinstall the software. I uninstalled Photoshop CS3 (in order to uninstall Bridge) and when I began to reinstall Photoshop, the installer ask me to insert the Fireworks CS4 disk! Since I don't have that disk, I hit cancel and the install terminated (I tried this multiple times and rebooted each time)
I then downloaded and ran Adobe's CS4 Cleanup app. It found NO CS4 apps to clean up.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Mark

Thanks Neil and Buko for your input. Here's where things stand now:
    1) I uninstalled FW CS4
    2) I uninstalled CS3
    3) I ran Cleanup Script
    4) I repaired permissions using Disk First Aid
    5) I reinstalled CS3
The problems with Bridge remained (sluggish, won't display icons properly, won't show a preview image, won't operate the folder list, etc.).
So I called Adobe support. Unfortunately, because I am having problems installing CS3 and NOT CS4, support is NOT FREE. The rep was helpful though -- she pointed me to document number 331594 (Diagnosing Bridge problems) and told me to start there. I followed EVERY step . . . disable start-up scripts, reverted to original preferences, cleaned up the cache, disabled the folder windows, and the problems remain.
    Guess I'll have to pay . . .
Lesson learned: don't trial Adobe software. That's when my problems began.
