CS3 Installer Won't Launch

OSX 10.5.5
Intel Quad Core Tower, 8GB Ram
Currently installed: CS3.3 Master Collection
I am trying to reinstall Acrobat 8 from my Master Collection 3 disc, and Setup won't launch. I've also tried Utilities:Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, and it won't launch either.
I've tried the standard solutions: fix file permissions, install from admin account and new user account, uninstalled CS4 Beta applications. Nothing has helped.
Adobe technical support has been no help. I've been on the phone with them for two hours this morning.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

BRIAN, HERE'S WHAT WORKED FOR ME, BUT I WAS USING WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL, NOT A MAC SYSTEM. STILL MAYBE IT MAY BE OF HELP.
I had problems uninstalling and reinstalling my Adobe Master Collection CS3. The problem being that the installer would run and then disappear without initiating the uninstall/installation process.
Here are the simple combination of steps which worked for me.
1/ removing Adobe Master Collection CS3 by running add/remove programs
2/ running the Adobe CS3 clean script. I'm almost 100% certain I chose option 1 when running the script http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
3/ out of desperation and realising I had nothing to loose because I had an image of the fairly newly configured hard drive I was using, I deleted the Adobe "Installers" Folder located inside the Adobe folder at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
Steps 1 and 2 above did not solve my problem.
Step 3 did solve my problem. However, I do not know if step 1 and/or 2 were required for step 3 to work.
GOOD LUCK :-)
PS. Please let users of this site know if this solution has worked for you ...and if so, pass the solution on elsewhere too.

  • Photoshop CS6 Installer Won't Launch on Mac OS 10.8.2

I've downloaded the Photoshop CS6 disk image but when I open it and then double-click on the installer to launch that, there is no response.
I've tried the suggestions in this help document but have had problems with that as well:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/exit-code-15-installing-ccm.html
The first suggestion in that help doc is no problem -- restarting and running permissions and disk repair. But that doesn't solve my issue.
Trying the second suggestion, I run into a response different from what is described in the help document.
After I open Terminal and enter "sh " I then get a prompt which reads "sh-3.2$ "  (Parenthesis marks here are to indicate what I'm typing or the computer's response; I'm not typing parenthesis marks themselves.)
If I drag Clean Entries.sh onto the terminal window, then the entry is NOT as described in the help document with the path DIRECTLY after "sh ". On my computer it reads: "sh-3.2$ /Users/PFD/Desktop/plist/Clean\ Entries.sh " and if I hit return I get this response in the terminal window:

    mkdir: /Users/PFD/Desktop/temp/LaunchAgents: File exists

I have Photoshop CS4 already installed and running fine. I moved to a new computer (Macbook Air, now running OS 10.8.2) a month ago via a Time Machine backup; I found at that time that caused problems for re-registering PS CS4. I had to do an uninstall and a clean re-install to get it to allow me to register properly.
I bought an upgrade to PS CS6 a month ago and haven't had time to try installing it until now.
Now I'm trying to install but there is no response from the installer, as noted above.
    Any help appreciated.
    thanks,
    Paul D.

PFDuke it looks like you maybe guessing that you have Exit Code 15 based off the fact that the installer did not launch.  I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine the exact error.  You can find details on how to accomplish this at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • Boot Camp XP SP2 installer won't launch on Mac Pro

    Hello,
My new Mac Pro just came this morning. On the way home from work I picked up a copy of Windows XP intending to install this with Boot Camp and get some games running.
I have a Mac Pro 2.0 GHz with the ATI x1900 video card.
    I am using a 23" Cinema Display.
The Windows XP box says "For PCs Without Windows" and "Now Includes Service Pack 2 with Advanced Security Technologies".
Upon inserting the XP CD and clicking Install from Boot Camp Assisstant, the computer restarts, the screen blanks to white shortly, then it goes black but nothing happens after that. I've let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
I tried restarting the computer while holding down the option key, and selecting the "Windows" CD as the boot device, and I end up with this same black screen and no activity.
I can still boot into OS X if I select MacHD at the boot screen of course.
Is anyone here running Boot Camp XP on this same configuration with a Cinema Display?
It looks like I'll want to do the PIO/DMA workaround at some point, but for now I just want to figure out why the installler won't even start.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Ugh. Problem solved.
I should have thought of this. The problem for the installer was the Cinema Display.
I attached an old VGA monitor instead and I can now confirm that the XP installer appears to be running.
    Sorry about that guys!

  • CS2 Installation won't launch

I reinstalled CS2 but for the time being just Illustrator from the package. That was successful up until the point that I tried to launch or open the program. I get the following pop-up box every time:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program:...rator CS2\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    Windows also says:
The color scheme has been changed.
The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily
change the color scheme to Windows Vista Basic.
    Program: Adobe Illustrator
    Publisher: Adobe Systems, Inc.
    Process identifier (PID): 4064
Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to
Windows Vista Aero when this program or other programs performing similar
    actions are no longer running.
Please decode. Will it be impossible for me to get it up and running? I need to work with it for a class that has already started.
If I have to buy a new cs suite (or just the illustrator as I only need that for now), what is the best package for a student?

Far to vague and missing the most critical parts like what version of Windows you actuialyl use and what system specs. For edu pricing, check this:

  • Help - Itunes/Quicktime downlaods but won't launch to install

    Hi peeps,
Need some help here; iTunes stopped launching one day so deleted it, and Quicktime, and tried to reinstall. Problem is now the installer won't launch for either. Tried direct download and saving the file to download to desktop. Always the same, goes to load and just stops, no error message, just nothing. I have PC with Windows Vista.  Help before PC goes over balcony!

  • Dreamweaver in 10.7.5 won't launch

I upgraded to 10.7.5 and now my CS3 apps won't launch.

OK, that seems to have resolved the issue.  Apologies for the panic!  I'm not sure what the problem was as I had already restarted and repaired permissions before the problem manifested, and  DragonDrop works fine on my other computer running 10.8, and I have successfully restarted the program now on 10.7.5 without a recurrence of the issue.  But if it happens again I'll update this thread.
    Whew.

  • Flash CS3 won't launch after installation

    Any Ideas
    I've just installed CS3 Web standard on 19 PC's ( Win XP SP2
2 GB RAM) but for some reason Flash won't launch on some of these
computers. When you try and launch Flash you get as far
initializing fonts and then closes down.
It's quiet strange Flash works on some of the 19 Computers
which I must add are all identical and have the same software
    installed on them.
Has anyone else had any issues with Flash?
    Irfan

Well, it can get worse: my downloaded version will not
install (Vista, run program as an administrator, even ruuning in
compatibility mode). No matter what I do, after clicking setup.exe,
there is a dead silence. No new process is launched.

I'm a Pro Tools user, who just did an "Archive and Install" installation of 10.5.8 over my 10.4.11 on my 2 Ghz G5, now Pro Tools won't launch.  I checked the extensions folder and sure enough, the digidesign extensions were left behind.  Can I revert back to the "Archive" of my 10.4.11 System from the "Previous Systems" folder?  If not, what's the point of creating the "archive"?

Did you select "Preserve User Settings"?
Archive and Install installation automatically moves existing system files to a folder named Previous System, then installs Mac OS X again. (See tip 3.) You cannot start up your computer using a Previous System folder, nor can you "re-bless" the Previous System folder. (See tip 1.)
You can choose to preserve your user and network settings before installing. This option automatically moves existing users, Home directories, and network settings. This also skips the Setup Assistant after installation.
Note: Because the "Preserve user and network settings" option moves, not copies, existing users, Home directories, and network settings, from the Previous Systems folder to the newly installed System, these items will not exist in the Previous Systems folder after the Archive and Install is complete.

  • 5.1 installs fine, won't launch

I received my crossgrade installers for 5.1. The installation goes fine on my MacBook Pro 2.0GHz, but the apps won't launch. The icon bounces briefly in the dock, that's it. I've installed multiple times, same result.
I've trashed all the preferences I can find, also no change.
As a test I installed the same discs on an Intel Mac Mini, all worked fine. I don't need it on the Mini though, just the MacBook Pro.
Short of doing an OS X reinstall, any suggestions?

    SOLVED!
Because I never got an App Crashed message I never even thought to look at the app crash logs. After reading part of the post pointed to by WHAAAT (above) I decided to take a look. Therein lay the answer.
There were three frameworks apparently not installed by the installer. The installer had not provided any error message. The crash log showed these messages (I'm truncating the extra stuff to show just the important stuff):
    Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework/Versions/A/ProKit
    Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/LiveType.framework/Versions/A/ProKit
    Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Helium.framework/Versions/A/Helium
I checked, and sure enough they (the three framework folders) were indeed not installed. Since I'd done the install on the Intel Mac Mini I grabbed those framework folders over the network and dropped them into place (needed to sudo mv them in terminal due to them going into /System).
All apps now launch fine (FCP, Compressor, LiveType, DVDSP - I did not install Soundtrack Pro or Motion). The only testing I've done beyond that is a quick Compressor conversion which ran fine. I'll reply back here if it turns out more needs to be done but I think I'm in the clear.
    I hope this helps someone!

  • Installation of Comodo Free Firewall Crashed System, Now Firefox Won't Launch

I installed Firefox 4, then my ZoneAlarm Free Firewall and Free AVG 2011 Antivirus were rendered incompatible. As a result, I installed Comodo Firewall --- I did not uninstall Zone Alarm or AVG. Comodo instructed me to restart the laptop in order to finish the successful install. When I restarted the laptop, it crashed. I restarted in Safe Mode and did a system restore ---went back 6 days. Now Firefox won't launch.
What happened and how can I fix it?

Hi thanks for that. I've been through those pages already. I think maybe my lack of knowledge is hindering me somewhat. However the page you linked assumes two things: I can see the processes on Task Manager and I can start up Firefox. The latter is unusual. You see when it suggests changing or creating a profile, I have to use the profile manager which is part of Firefox - which I can't open.
I don't think a previous session is still running because I've restored and installed so many times.
While I appreciate the speedy response, if anyone has any ideas using words, I'd be extremely grateful. :0)

I've tried verifying the disk, and repairing the desk, but can't find a fix.  It won't launch at all ever since the Mavericks upgrade.

If you did not install the software following the upgrade but did some form of transfer or migration then you should probably uninstall and then use the Cleaner Tool.  After that install using the discs or a downloaded set  of installation files.

  • CS3 Uninstaller won't run in Lion - how to uninstall manually?

I migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac to a new Lion Mac (keeping the same username and keychain) and CS3 Web Premium runs fine, except Dreamweaver won't launch (just a blank dialog).
I want to uninstall just Dreamweaver (if possible) so I can try reinstalling from disc, but I can't uninstall CS3 at all:  The "Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium" alias in Utilities asks for my password... and then simply exits.
How can I uninstall Dreamweaver CS3 manually? I know you're not supposed to, but the steps must exist: whatever the uninstaller does, I can do--if I know what to do. (I'd rather not uninstall all of CS3--if I even could--since Photoshop/Flash/Illustrator are working fine, and I've got all my custom settings in them.)
Or, can I troubleshoot the uninstaller?
    Thanks!

    Or to this link:

Although the link is for CS5, I am told that it also works on CS3, CS4, CS5, CS5.5
You need to read the both links from top to bottom.
    Good luck.

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

recently bought a new PC, installed apple works but it won't launch - running windows 7. Tried installing in compatible mode using xp sp3, but that didn't work either.  Is it a hopeless case?

    Hello
I have installed it on a 32bit Win 7 installation with no problems. I dont think I even installed it in compatibility mode. I think I just ran the Windows installer and was done with it. Anyway, I know my reply is late, but if you still need help, go ahead and reply.

  • Premiere Elements 11 won't launch

    G'day,
I downloaded the trial version of PRE11 a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get it to run. Upon launch I get the welcome screen with two choices, to launch the Organizer or the Video Editor, but neither of these actually start. It seems as it is trying though, as I see a scrolling line below my choice after clicking it. No error code or anything like it, it simply won't start (and I don't see any process starting either).
Nevertheless, a few days ago I bought PRE11 (Win/Mac DVD, English) and installed it. Exactly the same behaviour as with the trial, apart from one thing. When I try to lanuch the Video Editor I get the licence agreement. After agreeing, it's the same thing though, nothing happens.
I've read this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4773135) and tried to see if I had any of the symptoms described, or if any of the suggested solutions worked. So far, no luck. I tried Large_Donkey's solution (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4893868#4893868) with the msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll files, but it didn't make any difference. Same thing with VDOsurfer's reply (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4903592#4903592) I also tried primarykeytech's suggestion (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4905283#4905283) and downloaded Dependency Walker and ran both Premiere Elements 11.exe and Premiere Elements.exe. At first, it reported that IEShims.dll and gpscv.dll was missing/couldn't be loaded, so I added these to the Premiere Elements folder. Then I got a message (still while running Premiere Elements.exe in Dependency Walker) saying that sysntfy.dll was missing, so I added this one as well to the Premiere Elements folder. After this, I still get three messages in Dependency Walker, but no further description on which files it can't find:
"Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module.
Error: Modules with different CPU types were found.
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module."
And none of these changes made any difference, I tried to launch the Video Editor and/or Organizer, but it's the same thing; won't launch, no error message. I've now resetted everything back to the way it was on installation, and tried to continue finding any solution.
Some specs, even if maybe not all of these are relevant. If any other specs are needed, just inform me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, I tried the blacklist approach by adding a "blacklist.txt" file to the VST plugins folders I have, but to no avail. I also read the last post you made in the "Failure of Premiere to Launch - One Possibility VST's" thread, with the answers from Adobe Engineering. As that post was made almost 2 years ago, I somehow think this wouldn't be an issue in PrE 11 anymore?
Anyway, while trying to launch Premiere Elements.exe ~200 times the last 24h, I've not noticed anything strange in Event Viewer, no errors or warnings connected to the launch of PrE (or, for that matter, no errors or warnings at all during the time I try to launch the program). One thing I did notice, though, is that the process Premiere Elements 11.exe actually starts (I chose not to display the welcome screen every time, but to launch the Video Editor right away) but then quickly terminates. Utually it manage to get between 15-20MB of memory before it crashes and terminate the process, only takes 1 or 2 seconds from launch to termination.
Slowly losing my hope to actually discover the cause, as I'm shooting in the dark evey time (not getting any error messages or hints on what actually fails). Really needed to use PrE this week, maybe have to find some free alternative on the interwebs.
    Regards Henrik
Edit: Searching deeper on the Adobe forums regarding VST scanning issues with PrPro/E, and it baffles me how long this error seems to have been going on, even if it's not 100% certain that is the error in my case.
Edit2: Once again a shot in the dark, but I'm thinking my troubles may be due to multiple hard drives? As things are scattered over 3 discs (OS on one, programs on the second one and personal data on the third one) this might cause some path/reference issues? I was thinking this since Depencency Walker gives me the following error messages:
"Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module.
Error: Modules with different CPU types were found.
Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found.
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module."
And it also states that it can't find IESHIMS.DLL and GPSVC.DLL (a road I already have been down earlier). This got me thinking PrE can't find the correct files from where it is installed (E:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Elements 11). On the other hand, I'm getting the exact same error messages on Photoshop CS5 (which runs fine), and the same two dll files seems to be missing. Even tried running a few other programs that work, such as games, though Depencency Walker, and even they seems to miss these dll files.
