  • AIR in DW-CS3: JavaScript Error Occurred

    I was just completing the AIR Application and Installer
    Settings using Dreamweaver CS3; when I clicked the "Create AIR
    File" button and received the message "whil executing onClick in
    AIRSettings.htm, a JavaScript error occurred".
    I have double checked every field but cannot find an error.
    Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you resolve the
    error? [email protected]

    I am facing the same issue. Did you solve it ? Anyone ? I
    tried to spotlight that file "AirSettings.htm" but nothing came

  • CS3 JavaScript error on startup

    Hi!
    I've been playing around with startup scripts, and everything was nice until I've tried to make indesign alert a variable and some string. After that I get the following JavaScript error messages on startup:
    Error number: 45
    Error String: Object is invalid
    Line: 386
    And another, just like the previous one with line number 344.
    I thought it would help to delete the startup script, but it didn't. Now I have no startup script folders either and still I get these messages.
    I've put my startup scripts in C:/users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/version 5.0/Scripts/Startup Scripts/
    Within it a link to folder that easy easier to browse.
    (so we have Vista here)
    Despite these messages ID works correctly; if I create a startup script that also runs after these messages.
    Has anyone had this problem before? If no, can anyone give me a hint where to start searching for the reason?
    Thanks for your time!

    It's weird!
    I've run no scripts since yesterday, and now my File and Edit menus are lost...
    How can I recover them?

  • Javascript error when opening CS3 on pc..?

    I cannot open ID on my CS3 package using my pc. The error appears twice in a box on screen stating
    'JavaScript Error'
    'Error Number 45'
    'Error string :Object is Invalid'
    'Line 387'
    also
    'JavaScript Error'
    'Error Number 45'
    'Error String; Object is Invalid'
    'Line 428'
    there was a problem initially due to program plug-ins reported missing so i tried going onto 'Help' and clicking on 'Configure Plug-Ins' from the drop down menu.
    Not sure what i did.. but now i cannot use ID as it shuts down after the javascript errors are reported.
    Anyone help?

    hi
    thanks for all the helpful info
    i tried to reinstall INDESIGN only... didnt work same problem.
    i tried by uninstalling INDESIGN and then reinstalling it only.... didnt work same problem.
    I guess im going to have to do a full reinstall.. not a problem, do i need to contact yourselves to get clearance for a reinstallation?
    I had a hard drive crash about 6 months ago and had to reinstall, had to phone Adobe and get an online clearance as id exceeded my sole installation for my CS3 hard copies.
    thanks again

    Subject: Javascript error when opening CS3 on pc..?
    I'd bet the original scenario was something like you tried to open a file and saw a message that you were missing plugins, or they were out of date, and that you should update or upgrade. That's the typical message you get when you try to open a file saved from a newer version of ID. Unfortunately it's quite misleading -- nothing you do to the plugins will help you in that case, and trying to use newer versions would be disastrous.
    You should be able to selectively reinstall just ID. If you have the DVD you can run the installer and do a "Repair" installation, and if that doesn't work, you should be able to uninstall ID, then reinstall without removing the whole suite. If that still doesn't work, bite the bullet, uninstall everything and run the clean script (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402767&sliceId=1), then reinstall. I'm not sure what happens with a downloaded installer, but I suspect it works the same. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that to uninstall from a download you need to have it in the same location as was originally used for the installation.

  • Javascript errors when formating text and images in Contribute CS3

    I'm using Contribute CS3 on Vista, I insert an image inside a
    paragraph tag with text then align the image
    ie the source code looks like this:
    <p><img src="..." alt="" align="left"/>some
    text</p>
    I change the text in the paragraph to bold
    Source code example: <p><img src="..." alt=""
    align="left"/><strong>some text</strong></p>
    I will get the following error messages:
    1 This error appears 2 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_CSS_Style canAcceptCommand in
    ccText_Styles.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
    2 This error appears 2 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_Bold canAcceptCommand in
    Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
    3 This error appears 3 times:
    "While executing DW_Text_Italic canAcceptCommand in
    Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
    4 Next all the styles and formatting options are greyed out
    but I can still publish or discard.
    To be able to apply the styles and formatting in Contribute
    CS3 I now need to close the application and reopen it again and be
    careful not to reproduce the error.
    I've also tried renaming the Configuration folder under
    c:\Users\myusername\appData\Local\Adobe\Contribute CS3\ but it
    hasn't worked.
    We've reproduced this error on 3 similar machines in our
    office all running cs3 but the bug doesn't occur when performing
    the same steps in Contribute 3 or dreamweaver CS3 which is running
    side by side on these machines.

    It might be trying to pull the image from a different
    location than the image is currently stored in. Try to move the
    image file to a different folder and then load.

  • Javascript error when adding Flash movie to DWCS3

    When I try to add a Flash movie to a page in DW CS3, I get

  • Insert Image Javascript Error

    I've had this problem since I switched from MX2004 to version
    8, and now on CS3. When I click on Insert Image I get a message
    that in Image.htm a javascript error occured. The strange thing is

  • CS3 javascript XML and attribute adding.

    I've been trying to get something working in CS3 javascript XML for some time and it is getting really frustrating.
    Say I have:
    var someXML = new XML("<anElement/>");
    someXML.@xxx = "something";
    $.writeln(someXML.toXMLString());
    gives the output I'd expect (<anElement xxx="something"/>);
    But I need the name of the attribute to be dynamic.  As far as I can see I should be able to either:
    someXML.getAttribute("xxx") = "something";
    or
    someXML.@["xxx"] = "something";
    both these cases give an error of 'Cannot set property xxx'.  I'm using CS3 version 5.0.4 (the debug build because most of the time I'm working directly with the API - not through scripting).
    I looking for ideas to try...
    Ian

    Hi Ole, thanks for the reply.
    I am aiming to manipulate XML using standard javascript functions - nothing directly to do with indesign, though other parts of the script does interact with it.  Basically the scripts allow a user to set some configuration options and that is in an XML string format (if it was the indesign XML Hierarchy XMLElements, etc I'm pretty sure I could get things to work - worst case I could add to the scripting support in a plugin and make it work...).
    I had an idea (driving home after a frustrating day), Since the XML I'm processing is small, I can move forward by crudely making a string from the XML object, inserting the attribute into the string and then re-new'ing the XML object.  With large comments about why - unless someone can come up with a reason/fix for the javascript-XML not working (I suppose it may just be the number of InDesign/Extendscript versions I have installed - CS2/CS3/CS4, indesign and server).

  • JavaScript Error 45

    When I open InDesign CS3 I get JavaSript Error 45, Object invalid, Line 387. Then JavaScript Error 45, Object invalid, Line 345. Then when I try to open or create a new file the application crashes. What can I do?

    Some ideas:
    Retry from a new user account. That will eliminate at least user specific scripts.
    Search for any "jsx" files within "startup scripts" folders, and put them in a safe place.
    Do that only one by one, and restore them after retry if the problem continues.
    It may be a good idea to reinstall InDesign. Leaving that to others to explain.
    If nothing else helps, here is an unusual approach:
    Quit InDesign if it is still open.
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app
    Copy paste the following line, eventually adjust the folder path within the quotes if you have a different install directory.
    sudo dtruss "/Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS3/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS3.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS3" 2>&1 | grep jsx
    Press the return key
    Enter your admin password when asked.
    Press the return key
    InDesign should launch. Wait a while, startup progress will be slower than usual.
    The output in the terminal window is a trace of all system calls, filtered for the "jsx" file extension of script files.
    When the error dialog pops up, do NOT dismiss it. Switch back to Terminal. Review the last few output lines there, maybe copy them here for discussion or ask in the scripting forum, whether the mentioned files belong to the default installation or not. You can safely ignore anything with "XHTML", "Xml Rules", "OEBExport" or "Digital Edtions".
    For details on dtruss, see
    http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/dtrus s.1m.html
    Good luck,
    Dirk
