[CS3 JS] How to change a Substr of findTextpreferences?
Hello wise ones,
I have a situation where I'd like to reformat the position to Superscript of only a section (substr) from a 'findTextPreferences'!
At the moment I have the following code to replace all Registered Trademarks within my document:
>app.findTextPreferences = null;
app.changeTextPreferences = null;
app.findChangeTextOptions.includeMasterPages = true;
app.findChangeTextOptions.caseSensitive = true;
app.findChangeTextOptions.wholeWord = false;
app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "®";
app.changeTextPreferences.position = Position.superscript;
app.documents.item(0).changeText();
This works fine. It reformats all instances of '®' to Superscript.
ie; 'OMEGA®' will be reformated to display the ® in Superscript.
i BUT NOW . . . .
I have a sticky situation where I'd like to reformat all occurances of '
b IT
' FROM THE WORD '
b OperateIT
' into superscript!
It would be simple to say:
> app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "IT";
app.changeTextPreferences.position = Position.superscript;
app.documents.item(0).changeText();
BUT - I also have the term '
b IIT800M
' within my document and the above coding also reformats this title - which is not wanted!
I ONLY need the 'IT' from 'OperateIT' to be reformated - how should I go about tackeling this?
I feel it would be something with 'substr'...? But how?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
Lee
You need to use GREP replacements for this. Basically wherever you have "Text" (findTextPreferences, changeText, etc), use Grep. You then do this:
app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = '(?<=Operate)IT';
app changeGrepPreferences.position = Position.superscript;
app.documents.item(0).changeGrep();
(?<=Operate)IT means 'find IT when preceded by Operate'. When you do this in the interface you can see what happens. Note that Grep searches are case-sensitive.

How to change Layer Mode in Flash CS3?
Hello,
I would like to know how to change the layer mode to
"multiply" with flash.
I usually use photoshop CS2 to color my lineart. I set the
top layer (the lines) to "multiply" to make the white transparent,
and then apply color on layers underneath.
I want to learn how to color my art on Flash, but I'm still a
noob. I imported my bitmap lineart (inked by hand) and turned it
into vectors (modify>bitmap>trace bitmap). Then I created a
second layer underneath for the color, just like I would do in
photoshop.
But, the first layer's white areas are not transparent, so
the color is not visible.
So basically I just need to know how to change the top
layer's mode to "multiply" so I can see through the white areas .
Any help will be very appreciated.Nicochi,

Convert the top layer's artwork (raster or vector, doesn't
matter) into
a movie clip symbol -- select the artwork and go to Modify
> Convert to
Symbol -- and you'll be set. Once the symbol exists, you'll
see mode
choices in the Property inspector.

How to change length of line in Photoshop CS3
I must be being really stupid, but I can't find out how to change the length of a line I've drawn in PS using the line tool. Can anyone help me out?
Which type of line did you draw?
Filled pixels, Shape Layer or Path?
If filled pixels, then it's just like with any other pixelsyou have to erase them, or or make a selection and delete them. To lengthen, you'll have to use the Transform function.
If you created your line as a Shape Layer or as a plain path, they are both defining the line as vector elements. If you look very closely, you'll see that the line is actually a thin rectangle-shaped patha boxif you will.
In this case you can use the Path Selection Tool to select two of the anchor points and move them manually, or you can select the entire path and then use the Transform Path function (Command + T) and input values in the Options Bar to transform the points numerically. -
How to change CUE ip address?
Hi,
We moved to a new location and using comcast as ISP. I was setting up the phone system today and met a few problems.
1. First of all, all the phones are connected and working(total of 4), but I can only see 3 of them showing up in the CCA. Whats happening here?
2. I wanted to change the user name which appears on the phone using the CCA, CCA told me that the settings were successfully sent to UC520, I restarted the phone and uc520, but the names on the phones remain unchanged?
3. I forgot the password of the voicemail for one of the phone, and wanted to changed in the CUE. so I went to 10.1.10.1,but some comcast login page showed up instead of CUE. so I want to know how to change the IP address of CUE? I don`t know the CLI commands so please teach me if it can only be done with CLI. I have only used CCA in the past. Could this be the reason why for problem 1 and 2? I`m feeling wierd because all the phones can be used to call in/out.

endhow to change local ip address?Via an operating system command.
It's not the sort of thing an application should be doing at all. IP addresses these days are assigned via DHCP. Why would you want to change it from within an application? It would probably disconnect all sockets for all running applications, invalidate the login, all kinds of bad effects.
What is the actual requirement? -
Hello All,
I have just got used to working with Dreamweaver CS3. I
created a template in CS3, and it is quite obvious
how to change the font face for an editable region in CS3
properties area.
I have just moved to CS4, and am editing a template I created
in CS3, and have not (as yet) found out how to select a different
font face for an editable region in CS4, that option seems no
longer on the property section of the workspace. How can I do this?
One more question - less remedial. I have a template with
repeatable and editable regions. It is a table that allows adding
or subtracting images in one cell and text in another. I want the
image tag width and height to always be 200x125 regardless of the
actual size of the image (the images will always be bigger than
200x125). Is there a way to set this in the template? I have set
the table cell to that size, but it expands if I add a larger image
to the table.
Thanks,

Use the CSS 'button' on the upper, left corner of the
Property inspector.

This is within an editable region? I can think of no way to
do that.
Sorry.

When I try it myself my whole gradient turns black.To add to the above, you can not just set the angle. If you want to use other existing settings you need to get them from the layer. The code in that other thread shows one way to get them.
But if you do not need the existing values for any other reason you can get the descriptor for the layer, make a duplicate of it with all the settings and just overwrite the ones you want to change.
This is one way to just change the angle while keeping the other existing settings.
// helper function for working with descriptors

ref.putIndex( psClass, index );
}else{
ref.putEnumerated( psClass , charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" ), charIDToTypeID( "Trgt" ) );
try{
var desc = executeActionGet(ref);
}catch(e){ return; }// return on error
if(desc.count == 0) return;// return undefined if property doesn't exists

How to change open file dialogue box date format
Hi - I can't find how to change the date format whenever I open any creative suite document - my system preferences are set to dd/mm/yy and every other application shows this date except for CS4 it shows mm/dd/yy. Can anyone help please. Much appreciated.
Hi, I'm having the same problem with the date format - all Creative Suite 'open' menu items are showing US format mm/dd/yyyy rather than UK format dd/mm/yyyy... although everything else on my system is set for UK format and all other programs open properly. The strange thing is: I'm sure this has only just happened after years of using Creative Suite... I'm sure I would have noticed it before. I'm on CS3 so haven't had any recent updates that might have affected it.

Thanks.Somebody wrote and posted this a couple of years ago.
// Duplicate the selection from the active document into a new document.
// To invoke the JavaScript debugger, remove comment delimiters
//$.level = 1; debugger;
var newItem;
var docSelected = app.activeDocument.selection;
if ( docSelected.length > 0 ) {
// Create a new document and move the selected items to it.
var newDoc = app.documents.add();
if ( docSelected.length > 0 ) {
for ( i = 0; i < docSelected.length; i++ ) {
docSelected[i].selected = false;
newItem = docSelected[i].duplicate( newDoc,
ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND );
else {
docSelected.selected = false;
newItem = docSelected.parent.duplicate( newDoc,
ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND );
else {
alert( "Please select one or more art objects" );
It should give some ideas about how to proceed. -
How to change default alerts in iCal?
Hello.
Every time you add a new event in iCal, the Info panel of the event contains a series of default alerts that you may want to add to it. However, all of them are useless to me (e.g.: "Send email to <my address> 4 days after), so I need to manually edit them event by event. Anybody knows how to change them? I have already inspected all the plist files related to ical, and looked inside the ical package content, but I found no indication of where to change these values. Using iCal version 5.0.2
Thanks,
lJohn: Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted. I was indeed inspecting the plist with bbedit, but what I did not realize is that the file has some parts which are binary, so I could not see the PersistentMenu-lastUsedAlarms part by using a text editor. I opened it with Xcode and I did find what you were saying, and erased all the junk that was in there. In fact, the issue I had was also described here:
http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Uk/uk.comp.sys.mac/2010-06/msg02349.html
For some reason, it looks like after some upgrade the program adds were some positive values in the plist and I was stuck with default alarms that were set *after* the events I wanted to set an alarm for.
I did what you suggested, then added by hand new values to the PersistentMenu part of the plist, and I am now happy.
For everybody's information, to know what I did, it is enough to know to add Dictionary items to the PersistentMenu-lastUsedAlarms, with 3 fields:
-- AlarmTypeKey (this determines if you want a sound, or else an email, or else the other default alarm type keys. For example, sending an email is a Number, value 4; having a message with sound is a Number, value 3)
-- AlarmDurationKey: This is a Number, in seconds, that determines when you want your alarm to trigger. E.g: -172800 will be two days before. Must be negative for "before", of course)
-- AlarmParameterKey: This is a String, where you store the value that you want the alarm to have. For example, if you want an email to be sent, the AlarmTypeKey will be 4, as explained above, and this field will contain your email address. Instead, if you want the alarm to be a sound, the AlarmTypeKey will be 3 and this field will have the name of the sound you want (e.g., Basso).
That's it. Thanks a lot for the solution!

Hi Support team, somehow my mozilla settings have been changed and it became transparent, now how to change back to normal because everything is transparent, menus, pages etc.
This could be the same problem other users are reporting as a white screen or black screen, caused by an incompatibility between Firefox 33 and some older graphics card/chipset drivers.
Please disable hardware acceleration as a temporary workaround. Step-by-step directions in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1025438

How to change the OraSSO login link in webcache/load balance
Hi
we have 10gAsR1 installed as a Portal instance. We have 6-server
load balancer => webcache as loadbalancer (listening port 80)
Wb ch1 and wb ch2 => webcache (listening port 7777)
portal1 and portal2 => Portal listening 7778
infra =>Infrastruture with repository Portal/Oracle SSO (listening 7777)
This set up is working fine for our intranet setup, now we need to open this for couple of external clients. Well initially we need to open on the load balancer server on port 80 for external team to access, it works fine when we make it publc access.
Now when we need to make it SSO (siteminder) enables, when users click on login link it first goes oracle sso then it internally redirects the page to site minder sso.
Well, I have noted that the sso server details are mentioned in global setting sso/oid details. Since we need to open this for external client we have to add a DNS entry for this so that we can allow its access over firewall..
Now I have made DNS name change at my infrserver level, now I need to update the change at the load balancer server (where wheb chache is running).
Any one know how to chang the URL at load balancer.
I am struck at this point please suggest how should i proceed..
